Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart — why not Snoop Dogg and Nick Cave? The rapper has covered the theme song for BBC’s gangster drama “Peaky Blinders.” Originally performed by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, “Red Right Hand,” opens each episode of the series, and has been covered by a lineup of music legends, from Iggy Pop and Jarvis Cocker to Pj Harvey, as well as Arctic Monkeys and Laura Marling. Watch Snoop’s take on the song below.
The video mixes footage from the series, starring Cillian Murphy, with snippets of Snoop Dogg in his element. The opinionated “Peaky Blinders” fanbase, however, isn’t entirely happy about Snoop’s take. Other fans are pretty into this version, which brings a breath of freshness to the early-20th-century-set period series.

Chicago rock outfit Whitney unveiled a charming new song, “Used to Be Lonely,” that will appear on their new album, Forever Turned Around, out August 30th on Secretly Canadian.

“Used to Be Lonely” follows previously-released Forever Turned Around tracks “Valleys (My Love)” and “Giving Up.

'Professor Marston and the Wonder Women' Director on the Superhero's Kinky Origin Story (Exclusive)
If you saw Wonder Woman this summer -- and the record-setting $800 million worldwide box office indicates a lot of people saw Wonder Woman this summer -- then you know the story of how Diana, Princess of Themyscira, became the superhero Wonder Woman, protector of mankind. How Wonder Woman ended up on the pages of comic books in the first place is a story unto itself however, told in Professor Marston and the Wonder Women: In 1941, Dr. William Moulton Marston (played by Luke Evans), his wife, Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall), and their lover, Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote), created the character to save the world...through psychology. Director Angela Robinson (D.E.B.S.) could never have predicted, though, that her Wonder Woman indie would arrive in theaters mere months after one of the biggest movies of the year.
"I'm getting a lot of credit for having the foresight to know that in the summer of 2017, the 75-years-in-the-making, long-gestating Wonder Woman movie would...

From ages 9-17 I went to a school that required a uniform, so I, without protest, donned an ill-fitting button-down every day. I was quiet in the hallways, raised my hand before asking questions, and dutifully adhered to all traffic signs. From the outside I had all the markings of your run of the mill Shy Teen Girl.
But as soon I got home from school I’d sprint to my bedroom and turn on Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Or Arctic Monkeys. Or Taylor Swift. And still dressed in that same button-down I’d sing (shout) the lyrics, jumping around that blue room with all my idols, joyfully exhausting myself. I’d stop, catch my breath for a moment, then reload the music video and start the ritual all over again. My favorite line to belt was from Yyy’s “Cheated Hearts.” I’d turn the volume all the way up...

Writer/Director Alex Taylor is about to see his first feature length production, Spaceship, which has been backed by the BFI, hits cinemas on May 19th. Taylor makes his transition from short films to embark on his hallucinogenic cinematic journey with an experimental unconventional coming of age story.
A story of teenage troubles, far from those Hollywood loves to portray but from those teenagers who are classed as outsiders in our modern society, ones that want to be unicorns and aliens and, to most, are just plain weird. Spaceship centers on Lucidia (Alexa Davies) as she fakes her own alien abduction, leaving her father to delve into her strange teenage world of neon dream-like visions.
We spoke with Alex Taylor at length to take us into his world of creating Spaceship, its musical connection and its triumphant reception at SXSW.

The punk legend and the Queens Of The Stone Age frontman recorded the album with Homme’s band member Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. Depeche Mode performed their rousing new song "Where's the Revolution" on The Tonight Show Wednesday. Over Martin Gore's smoldering guitar, Andrew Fletcher's mechanized synths, singer Dave Gahan delivered the song with ominous flare. "You've been pissed on for too long/ Your rights abuse/ Your views refused," he sang.
"Where's the Revolution" will appear on Depeche Mode's upcoming album, Spirit, out March 17th. James Ford (Florence and the Machine, Arctic Monkeys) produced the record, which marks the band's first since 2013's Delta Machine.

21 years ago today, Jagged Little Pill hit record stores, soon to be a smash hit and eventually one of the best-selling albums of all time. The album is now the age that Alanis Morissette was when it was released — it came out a couple weeks after her 21st birthday. It was the third album from the Canadian singer but a major deviation from her first two studio albums, records that had a generic teen dance-pop sound before Morissette found the voice that would make her a breakout star. Alt-rock Jagged Little Pill captured the rollercoaster that is life as you’re transitioning from your teenage years into your 20s. Morissette was 19 when she wrote it. As evidenced by the album’s massive sales, there were plenty of people who identified with her lyrics and the raw emotion in the music, from “You Oughta Know,” an anthem for any woman who has been betrayed by someone they thought they loved, to the spiritual yearning in opening track “All I Really Want” to “You Learn,” one of the least angsty songs on the album, an ode to making mistakes and learning from them. Jagged Little Pill was nominated for nine Grammy Awards. Morissette’s win for Album of the Year in 1996 made her the youngest artist to receive the honor. She held that record for 14 years, until Taylor Swift won the award in 2010. Other notable June 13 happenings in pop culture history: • 1967: The Temptations’ single “You’re My Everything” was released. It got to the #3 spot on the U.S. R&B chart and #6 on the U.S. Pop chart. • 1969: The Rolling Stones introduced new guitarist Mick Taylor at a press conference in London’s Hyde Park. He made his live debut with the Stones that July at a free concert in Hyde Park. • 1970: The Beatles’ album Let It Be hit the top spot on the U.S. album chart. It held the #1 spot for four weeks. Also on this day, The Beatles’ “Long and Winding Road” hit #1 on the singles chart. • 1977: Matthew Garber, who had played Michael Banks in Mary Poppins, died at age 21. • 1988: Paula Abdul released her debut album, Forever Your Girl. • 1989: Jerry Lee Lewis was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. • 1989: The premiere screening of License to Kill is held in London. The James Bond film — Timothy Dalton’s second and final turn as 007 — opened in the U.S. the following month. • 2003: English group Arctic Monkeys played their first gig at The Grapes, a pub in Sheffield, England. • 2009: The final episode of Pushing Daisies finally aired, after the series’ cancelation back in November.

Sixty-eight-year-old Iggy Pop, godfather of punk and a pioneer of art rock, recently revealed that he collaborated on an album with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. The record, called Post Pop Depression, could be his last, the often-shirtless icon says in a new interview for Apple Music. "I feel like I’m closing up after this," he said. "That’s what I feel. It’s my gut instinct."He'll still sing "Happy Birthday," though ... maybe. "If you call me and you want to work out a deal to come and sing 'Happy Birthday' at your mother’s, something like that I’ll refer you to someone. But to really make a real album you really have to put everything into it and the energy’s more limited now." He went on, "The kind of artist I am, I...

The New York Times reports that Iggy Pop and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme made a now-not-so-secret album, slated to drop March 18, and are prepping their first round of promotional shows. Titled Post Pop Depression, the nine-track project was put together independently in a total of three weeks, with the help of Dean Fertita, from Qotsa; Matt Helders, from Arctic Monkeys; and other still-unnamed musicians. Judging by the tone of the Times story, Ppd might serve as a kind of coda (or beginning of a coda) to Iggy's already-lengthy career. "What happens after your years of service?" Iggy told the Times, when asked about the record's theme. "And where is the honor?" A brief tour with the new material and band (which will add the likes of Troy Van Leeuwen, from Qotsa, and Matt Sweeney, from Chavez) will take place in March as well, at a set...

2000-2010 was a landmark period for the indie rock revival that swept up the western music scene with the likes of Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and others all achieving widespread attention from the music press and the public with genre defining highlights.
Some bands however weren’t as much apart of the craze, not due to a lack of talent but simply because the landscape of the genre became so convoluted with mimicking and trend-jumpers that some simply got lost in the shuffle. It’s a shame because many of these band’s records more than give the break out artists a run for their money.
The ten entries on this list epitomize those albums of the noughties that got lost in a sea of angular guitars and lyrical whimsy, that either commercially or critically didn’t garner the appreciation that they deserved to.

The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards kicked off in Los Angeles Sunday night, with Ms. Miley Cyrus on hand to host the wild festivities.
Miley didn't disappoint when it came to her always-entertaining brand of enthusiasm and her fashion picks -- the pop star rocked a variety of barely there ensembles, including a see-through number that had what appeared to be balloons pinned to it. Oh, and she also announced that she just dropped a free album. Surprise!
One of the other biggest moments of the night was when Nicki Minaj shocked the audience by opening the show with a special guest: Taylor Swift. The formerly twitter-feuding superstars appeared to bury their public bad blood with a duet. Good one!
Speaking of Tay, the "Blank Space" singer was the most nominated performer of the evening -- she was up for 10 moon men and ended up picking up Video of the Year.

"Don't have to explain myself to you / I don't give two f**ks about your review" said Paul Weller with The Jam on 'The Modern World' back in 1977, so I don't think he'll be all that bothered by what I say about his band or this documentary.
He doesn't have to worry either way. Screened in the city ahead of its broadcast on Sky Arts next week, The Jam: About The Young Idea is a fine documentary that can reel in movie fans who hadn't necessarily surrendered to the beat of Weller, Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler before.
Riding on the back of a new photo exhibition of the band, the film is directed with economy and style by Bob Smeaton, one of the men behind the remarkable Beatles Anthology series from the mid-1990s.

Every year when awards season rolls by, a cavalcade of celebrities adorn our screens, grasping shiny statuettes and holding back (or often not holding back) tears. Amongst the faux modesty and ego-buffing, every now and then someone does something outrageous, heartwarming or plain hilarious that captures the audience’s imagination. The folks at Mitsubishi know what makes a great pick-up, and they’ve put together this collection of the best awards pick-ups of all-time.
10. Arctic Monkeys — Brit Awards

May 29 was a beautiful day in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for Alexa Chung and Alexander Skarsgard. The duo walked hand in hand under the sun, engaged in a sweet photo shoot near blooming roses, and cuddled up under a tree in the grass. It was the first glimpse of Alexa and Alexander as a couple, though speculation about their relationship sparked after they were spotted in Paris together in March. Though neither has commented on the relationship, Alexa did post an Instagram snap of herself from the Brooklyn afternoon that Alexander presumably took. Both Alexa and Alexander have been out of serious relationships since 2011, when Alexa split with the Arctic Monkeys's Alex Turner and Alexander broke it off with Kate Bosworth.

Not very long ago, despite platinum sales and a 2013 Album of the Year Grammy for Babel, making fun of the band Mumford & Sons was all too easy. They were Englishmen singing Americana. Their music was described as “bro-folk.” They wore beards unironically. On Wilder Mind, produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Florence + the Machine) and recorded in the Ditmas Park studio belonging to the National’s Aaron Dessner, the band moves away from their trademark folksy sound and the foot-stomping anthems to which fans are accustomed. The lush harmonies and old-timey percussion of “Little Lion Man” and “I Will Wait” have been replaced by enthusiastic electric-guitar solos and aggressive rock drumming. The album does not sound like it could've been recorded during the Great Depression.“I don’t think [Wilder Mind] is a reaction to what anyone else thought,” says guitarist Winston Marshall, sitting with his bandmates in a luxurious...

Foxx joked, "Marvin Gaye had an incredible year. Marvin Gaye had the No. 1 song featuring Pharrell and Robin Thicke. He's making beats in heaven. He might be dead, but he ain't dead broke,” referencing the legal battle over “Blurred Lines.”
Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake was grateful for his Innovator Award and gave an inspiring acceptance speech- "Growing up in school, no one ever called me anything close to an innovator, they called me different, they called me weird, they called me a couple of other words I can't say on TV. So thankfully my mother taught...

Whenever Tokio Hotel gets ready to play a concert, they gather backstage, circle up, put their hands in the center and give a hearty Power Ranger "Activation!" If Tokio Hotel is to believed, this is the truth. We learned that fun nugget and more from our recent HitFix Mix interview, where the four-piece German pop-rock troupe revealed a little more about what makes them nervous and more of their... motivations. When you flash your boobs at Georg Listing and Tom Kaulitz, for instance, the bassist and guitarist will respectively be almost 100% sure you're flashing at them. Singer Bill Kaulitz revealed that the band is especially "lazy" in the studio, while Gustav Schäfer admitted that smoking is perhaps one of their most treasured time-killers. The band last released their album "Kings of Suburbia" and have been promoting singles "Love Who Loves You Back" and "Feel It All"; the music video for...

This may not be a photo, but it's definitely a throwback. We can thank Scottish electronic band Chvrches for our dose of nostalgia today after the trio decided to cover Justin Timberlake's 2002 hit "Cry Me a River" at BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge studios Thursday morning. The group's lead singer Lauren Mayberry took on the former 'N Sync member's vocals for the cover, and we gotta say, it was really awesome! But then again, these three aren't noobs to covering pop classics. They've performed a number of goodies, including Seal's "Crazy," the Arctic Monkeys song "Do I Wanna Know?" and "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac. However, we...

Interviewing attractive chaps is all part of a day's work for Susanna Reid.
And while she's usually very professional and manages to keep it together, sometimes she lets a steely blue eye or a muscled bicep get the better of her. And really, who can blame her?
After that David Beckham interview this morning, Digital Spy looks at the other times Susanna's lost her cool...
1. Luke Evans
"I'm not sure we can broadcast this," warned Susanna, before she exposed her neck to all and sundry.
In response to the question "What's it like when you go in for the big bite?" - which is frankly a bit much to hear over your Cheerios - Dracula Untold star Luke Evans leaned over to Susanna and nuzzled into her neck. She yelped and then exclaimed: "That was quite nice actually! Thanks so much!"

The 2015 Grammy nominations are in, and there are plenty of familiar faces in the various Rock categories, where even some of the new faces are getting to be too familiar. It's well known, that despite all the mountains of music released each year, the Grammy Awards tend to nominate the same acts over and over and over. Once a group has established a foothold in the biz, they're bound to return to the award show year after year, particularly in the Rock categories. While the Grammys often tend to look to past success stories for nominees in the Best Rock Album category -- last year's batch featured Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Neil Young and Led Zeppelin -- recent winners have been more contemporary. But since 2000, the category has been won by the Foo Fighters three times, and Green Day twice, and even relative upstarts like The Black Keys are starting...

Rick Grimes is in for the fight of his life at the start of The Walking Dead Season 5, with Andrew Lincoln delivering another great performance and proving, once again, why this is Rick’s show. In just the first episode, there’s enough action, gore, and emotion to fill an entire season and Andrew Lincoln talks about his experience filming the Season 5 premiere. We also discuss why this season frightens him and I find out what’s on his “Rick Grimes” playlist:
The scale of this episode really made it feel like you were making a movie. Can you share your experience first reading the script and filming some of those massive action scenes?
“Every department is really on the top of their game. This season, they up the ante. There’s something in every single episode that’s so filmic and so grand. The first episode is a bloodthirsty,...

Tom Hardy joins the cast of Peaky Blinders this week, and the series is all the better for his presence...
This review contains spoilers.
Well that was more like it. Last week’s episode of Peaky Blinders felt like the return of a show with much to like, but not quite firing on all cylinders. The second episode felt like a top drama much closer to reaching top gear.
It helps that the episode starts strongly, with Tommy hauled to hospital after his beating at the hands of Sabini’s gang. While in hospital, his one visitor proves to be his nemesis, Major Campbell. Much like their meetings in the first series, the scene crackles with repartee and showcases two great actors at the top of their game. The exchange has a real sense of ebb and flow to it. The symbolic visual of a battered Tommy matches the sense that for now,...
