Here we are once again. It’s time for the Primetime Emmys, the biggest Hollywood awards show that takes place outside of awards season. It’s a nice reprieve after the doldrums of summer.

Kate Mulgrew is opening up about reportedly turning down the role of Katharine Hepburn in Tea at Five — the same Broadway-bound play Faye Dunaway was fired from.

“I played it for a long time. She was still living [then],” Mulgrew told Lola Ogunnaike on PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing. “She died when I was in performance at the Promenade in New York City. It was just the last wave of interest in her life.”

The Handmaid’s Tale may chart the rise of a theocratic dystopia and the men and women — mostly women – who suffer beneath it, but that doesn’t mean the Hulu drama was equally as bleak when the cameras weren’t rolling, according to series star Joseph Fiennes.
“It’s an odd thing: Whenever you do a kind of gritty piece, invariably it’s a sort of comedy behind the scenes,” Fiennes explained on the red carpet Sunday night before the Emmys in Los Angeles.

“I’m afraid of sharks,” Brown, 13, told People’s Jd Heyman and Lola Ogunnaike, host of Entertainment Weekly: The Show, on the Emmys red carpet on Sunday in Los Angeles.

With the 69th annual Emmy Awards around the corner, here’s a brief rundown of the show’s glamorous history.
The first Emmy Awards ceremony was held January 25, 1949 at the Hollywood Athletic Club in Los Angeles, and tickets cost only $5 — yes, five $1 bills. What a world to live in!
Louis McManus created the award we know today — a woman with wings holding an atom. Statuettes cost $400 and take five and a half hours to make. Each golden lady is molded and then coated in copper, nickel, silver and gold.
And the shocking part? Certain winners have to pay to keep the award!

As the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin and cousin of Dionne Warwick, Houston was poised for greatness, but her death on Saturday changed all that. However, her impact on popular music remains. "Everyone from Mariah Carey to Adele owes huge gratitude to Whitney Houston," says Lola Ogunnaike, a Today Show contributor.
In the video above, NBC’s Michelle Franzen reports on Houston's life and musical legacy, featuring laments from Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey, Clive Davis, and other music legends.
It may come as no surprise that CBS reported yesterday that the most popular single downloaded on iTunes was "I Will Always Love You" -- the Dolly Parton classic that became one of Houston's signature hits.
