Exclusive: Brittany Adebumola (Grand Army), Jaye Ladymore (The Chi) and Amarr Wooten (Colin in Black & White) are set as series regulars in 4400 (fka The 4400), the CW’s reimagining of the 2004 USA Network sci-fi drama series.
4400 hails from Riverdale co-executive producer Ariana Jackson and Anna Fricke, who successfully rebooted Walker, Texas Ranger for the CW.
In the new version, 4400 overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized people — two of them played by Joseph David-Jones and Khailah Johnson — who vanished without a trace over the last hundred years are all returned in an instant, having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to analyze the potential threat and contain the story, the 4400 themselves must grapple with the fact that they’ve been returned with a few…upgrades, and the increasing likelihood that they were all brought back now for a specific reason.

Move over Skins and Euphoria, Netflix’s Grand Army is joining the gritty (and hopefully not too realistic) high school show bandwagon.
Netflix has unveiled a release date and first trailer for Grand Army, an adult drama about a New York high school from playwright Katie Cappiello. Grand Army will premiere all nine of its hour-long episodes on October 16 on Netflix. Here is the aforementioned, decidedly gritty, trailer.
Oh yes, there is some Skins DNA in that bad boy. A mournful saxophone rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner over images of a dingy New York high school is what one might call a dramatic layup. But darn it all if it doesn’t work. Social issues highlighted here are of a much darker Degrassi variety, including kneeling for the anthem, rampant uncontrollable teenage sexuality, and perhaps even a school shooting or another similar crisis.
Netflix’s synopsis for the series reads:...

We celebrate Friday the 13th by talking about some of our favorite unlucky characters in horror movies on this episode of Corpse Club!
Let's face it, if you're a character in a horror movie, you likely don't have it easy, but there are some characters who take the term "unlucky" to a whole other level. Whether it's the way they die, the emotional trauma they experience along the way, or even what they have to live with if they do survive, some characters in horror films don't need it to be Friday the 13th on the calendar to experience terrifying levels of bad luck.

From Larry Cotton in Hellraiser and Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise to Sarah Carter...

Like any living, breathing person, the horror genre went through a lot of changes between 2010 and 2019, but the one constant throughout the decade is that the genre continued to showcase more and more new voices and new stories (as well as many new takes on previously told stories). When you look back at the years behind 2010, I remember waiting weeks (and sometimes months) in between major horror releases in theaters, but I had to do double feature screenings just to keep up with a prolific year of horror at the cinema (and that’s not including what was being released on bookshelves and streaming services). Before history threw the last shovelful of dirt on another decade’s grave, 2019 proved that the golden age of horror has no intention of dying as we move into the 2020s, giving me plenty of viewings, readings, and experiences to include on my favorites list this year.

With a decade of monumental horror coming to an end, we pay homage to the genre's recent past by looking back at the horror releases of 2017 and 2018 on a new episode of Corpse Club!
2017 and 2018: it was the years when Jordan Peele took us to the Sunken Place, when the Xenmorph returned to the big screen, when we were stuck in a killer time loop, and when Michael Myers and Laurie Strode got their long-awaited rematch. As the decade hurtled toward its conclusion, viewers were introduced to bold visionaries behind the camera and witnessed new sequels in some of the most influential franchises in horror history.
