Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is returning to the helm for a sequel that has been shrouded in secrecy for months – all we’ve heard up to this point was that Wingard’s The Guest star Dan Steven had joined the cast, and that was way back in May. But now Warner Bros. and Legendary have sent out a press release to give us more information on this currently untitled addition to the Monsterverse, which is scheduled to reach theatres on March 15, 2024.
The press release reveals that the screenplay for this film was written by Terry Rossio (the Pirates of the Caribbean series), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), and Simon Barrett (You’re Next), the three of them crafting a story that

The ostensible sequel to 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the new film Godzilla vs. Kong pits the king of the titans against, well, “the” King in an epic battle for the ages. The new film delivers an abundance of action, but little else as the character-driven plot of the first film takes a back seat to the title match between the two behemoths.
These legendary monsters collide with, ultimately, the fate of the world at stake. Reprising her role as Madison Russell (aka the Godzilla Whisperer) is Millie Bobby Brown, who along with her spunky friend Josh (Julian Dennison) and conspiracy blogger Bernie (Brian Tyree Henry), follow Godzilla as he tears across the globe unleashing a torrent of destruction. Meanwhile, Kong is accompanied by young Jia (Kaylee Hottle), with whom he has forged a special bond, and her mother Illene (Rebecca Hall), in his attempts to intercept Godzilla to...

The American Cinema Editors handed out the Eddie Awards on Friday (Jan. 26). Oscar watchers were in attendance for the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton as they are keenly aware that Ace is aces as one of the best indicators of which film takes home the Best Picture Oscar
Since 1990, the film that came up with an Ace went on to win the top prize at the Academy Awards 17 times. And in seven of the 10 years when the Ace barometer was wrong, the Eddie champ was at least a contender for Best Picture, including last year when both the drama winner (“Arrival”) and the comedy/musical champ (“La La Land”) were among the eight Best Picture nominees that lost the top Oscar to “Moonlight.”

Taking on Molly’s Game, Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut, without ever having cut a project the scribe had written, editors Alan Baumgarten and Josh Schaeffer were challenged with learning to cut Sorkin’s long, fast-paced, dialogue-driven scenes, while confronting a narrative of great structural complexity. Brought on to the project by editor Elliot Graham, an Oscar nominee who had previously cut Steve Jobs, the editing duo quickly noted a “very rare” quality of Sorkin’s…...

This morning, the American Cinema Editors announced their nominees for 68th annual Ace Eddie Awards. This is one of the most important guilds to take notice of, due to how Best Film Editing at the Academy Awards can often link up to Best Picture. It’s not a perfect correlation, but when looking for hints as to what voters might do, anything helps. Here, they’ve nominated almost all of the likely Best Picture nominees, so that’s a help. In fact, outside of Baby Driver and Molly’s Game, I’d say the other eight contenders here are among the favorites to make the big lineup. Time will tell, of course, but Ace is working from a list of frontrunners this year, that’s for sure. Below you can see the nominees for the Ace Eddie. Last year, the big winners were Arrival and La La Land, though Hacksaw Ridge...
