The One Show host Alex Jones has claimed her ex Steve Jones once lied to stop her from interviewing Angelina Jolie.
Alex, who dated fellow TV presenter Steve from 1999 to 2002, recorded an appearance on Dish podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, in which she revealed the lengths her former partner went to prevent her from getting the interview gig – a betrayal that led to their break-up.
At the time, Alex was working as an entertanment correspondent for the Channel 4 series Rise.
The Welsh presenter said the opportunity to interview the Mr and Mrs Smith actor arose, but Steve told her bosses that she was sick when she was actually just out at the shops.
“Normally, they would call in the morning and ask to come and do an interview or a junket,” MailOnline reports Alex as explaining on a forthcoming episode of the podcast.

Ted Lasso returned for its third season on 15 March. The Apple TV Plus comedy series stars Jason Sudeikis as an American football coach hired to manage a British football team.
Episode four of season three – titled “Big Week” – concluded with a message in memory of the late journalist. “In memory of Grant Wahl,” appeared on the screen as the credits began to roll.
Eagle-eyed fans, however, will notice another tribute to Wahl earlier in the episode.

This week’s “Ted Lasso” ends with a tribute. As the credits roll, the first words that appear are “In memory of Grant Wahl.”
Wahl, the beloved soccer writer who passed away suddenly last December at the age of 49 while covering the 2022 World Cup, was a presence in this season’s opening chapters. In “Big Week,” Season 3’s fourth episode, Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) carries Wahl’s 2009 book “The Beckham Experiment.” Aside from the book being a sensible fit for a show about soccer, the story behind Wahl’s profile of a team helped “Ted Lasso” sort through some of its own questions about their own press-conference-star-turned-book-writing-reporter Trent Crimm (James Lance).
“As we were putting together the storyline of Trent embedding himself with the team, that’s exactly what Grant did with LA Galaxy. So we reached out to him with a few questions, hoping he might have some time...

"Ted Lasso" is not just a great show about kindness and mental health, and it's not just a hilarious fish-out-water comedy that pokes fun and British and Americanisms. It's also a massive love letter to football culture, to players, managers, fans, and even those who cover it professionally. This season may be a bit sadder than usual, but it still exudes sheer joy when portraying the game.
Whether its small things like including (and even constantly cutting away to) a group of fans at the local pub who initially make fun of AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso before eventually coming to root for the team and its coach, to references to real teams and players, "Ted Lasso" does a lot to both educate newcomers on "the beautiful game" as well as give nods to life long fans.

The beloved soccer broadcaster and journalist Grant Wahl, who died of an aortic aneurysm while reporting from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last December, is remembered in more than one way during the third season of “Ted Lasso.” When speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer, co-creator, and co-star Brendan Hunt said that his character, Coach Beard, holding a copy of Wahl’s book “The Beckham Experiment” was planned as a hidden-in-plain-sight nod well before Wahl’s passing.
Now the fourth episode of the new season, which debuted on Apple TV+ on April 5, is dedicated to Wahl. It dovetails nicely with the plot, as it concerns James Lance’s reporter character writing a book about AFC Richmond, which recently added Maximilian Osinski’s star player. “When we knew we were going to have the storyline of Trent embedded with the team, we thought about reporters who’ve done that … Specifically,...

[This story contains minor spoilers for “Big Week,” the fourth episode of Ted Lasso’s third season.]
During the April 5 episode of Ted Lasso, Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) holds a copy of Grant Wahl’s book The Beckham Experiment, about the soccer superstar’s decision to jump from top European leagues to the L.A. Galaxy of Major League Soccer in the United States. At the time the scene was filmed, it was intended as an Easter egg, as most of Beard’s reading choices have been (earlier in the season, he and Ted (Jason Sudeikis) thumbed through the football strategy book Inverting the Pyramid).
By the time the episode debuted on Apple TV+, however, the nod to Wahl had turned into into a tribute. Wahl died of an aortic aneurysm while covering the 2022 men’s World Cup in Qatar, and the show dedicated the episode, “Big Week,” to him with a title card in the closing credits.

FIFA has turned down Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request to share a message about world peace to the global audience that will watch the World Cup final on Sunday, CNN reported Friday.
Zelenskyy, who last week was named Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” for his leadership following Russia’s February invasion of Ukraine, offered to appear in a video link to speak with fans at the stadium in Qatar where France will face off against Argentina, CNN said, citing an unidentified source.
It wasn’t clear if the video was meant to be taped or a livestream, but international soccer’s government body turned down the offer.

American soccer journalist Grant Wahl died of an aortic aneurysm that ruptured while in Qatar covering the World Cup.
Wahl’s wife Dr. Celine Gounder told CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King during her first TV interview since Wahl’s sudden death. “He (Wahl) had an autopsy done here in New York by the New York City medical examiner’s office, and it showed that he had an aortic aneurysm that ruptured,” Gounder, an infectious disease specialist and a CBS News contributor, told the morning program.
“It’s just one of these things that had been likely brewing for years, and for whatever reason it happened at this point in time,” she added about the slow-growing, undetected condition that caused Wahl’s death. In a separate post on Wahl’s Substack page, Gounder sought to put to rest speculation around her husband’s death following events in Qatar.

The shocking death of soccer writer Grant Wahl has prompted an outpouring of tributes. The 48-year-old Wahl died on Friday under murky circumstances while covering the World Cup in Qatar.
Today, Fox Sports, where he worked as a commentator, saluted him in its pregame coverage of the World Cup before the start of a quarterfinal match between Portugal and Morocco. A clearly shaken Rob Stone welcomed viewers into Fox Sports’ studio on location in Doha, Qatar (see tribute below).
Wahl had created some controversy during his Qatar coverage. He wore a rainbow shirt to the USA-Wales match, but was denied entry to the stadium by the security in the conservative country.
On Friday in Philadelphia, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James talked about Wahl, saying he was “very fond of Grant.” Wahl wrote a Sports Illustrated cover story on high school student James, the first major coverage of the rising star.
