Cue "Goo Goo Muck" by The Cramps -- because it's time for "Wednesday" fans to get their groove back on. The second season of Netflix's immensely popular "Addams Family" spinoff series is now officially in production in Ireland after being postponed due to last year's extremely necessary dual actors and writers' strikes. Jenna Ortega will once again lead the way as the titular character, who is still her usual unsmiling and morbid self here. Well, except that, in a twist that left a lot of longtime "Addams Family" enthusiasts confused, season 1 transformed Wednesday into a cross between a Veronica Mars-style teen sleuth and a superhero, complete with heretofore unknown psychic powers.
While our own review wasn't keen on season 1, "Wednesday" broke out in a major way with the youths, not least of all thanks to characters like Wednesday's bubbly werewolf roommate -- and, should all the "Wenclair" shippers get their way,...

Netflix on Tuesday morning unveiled the series regular and guest cast for the upcoming second season of its hit Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday, headlined by Jenna Ortega.
As the announcement suggests — and Deadline has confirmed with sources — three Season 1 series regulars whose characters were alive and well in the finale — Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J Ogawa — will not be returning in that capacity next season.
Of the three, only McShane is slated to reprise his Sheriff Donovan Galpin role as a guest star, likely to wrap the story of his character who was left devastated in the Season 1 finale by the discovery that his son Tyler (Hunter Doohan) was the Hyde after the sheriff shot and temporarily incapacitated the monster.
In the final minutes of the episode, Tyler was arrested but tried to escape by changing into a Hyde. His storyline will carry on as Doohan...

Remakes are always a tricky proposition. Some of the greats both in the horror genre and elsewhere are actually remakes, whether it’s a loose one or not. Be it The Magnificent Seven coming from Seven Samurai or The Thing being birthed into imitation dog from the Christian Nyby and Howard Hawks original. I talk about The Thing A Lot but obviously it’s for a reason. You could also throw The Fly in that same category too while we are here. Those are some of the examples of the good but unfortunately, things can go downhill and fast. You have harmless ones like the Friday the 13th remake or Texas Chainsaw, the annoyingly unnecessary like Halloween and Amityville Horror, or the egregiously awful like The Fog and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Like them or loathe them, or in our case both, they are here to stay, and each...

Wednesday is completely different from its predecessors, because instead of the traditional story about an eccentric old-money family living in an antebellum mansion and hiding a lot of paranormal secrets, we got a school drama starring goth Jenna Ortega.
But none of this changes the fact that Wednesday turned out to be a great black comedy with enough satire, drama and, of course, the supernatural. After all, the co-executive producer is none other than Tim Burton.
As a result, the show has received rave reviews, high ratings and wins in four Primetime Emmy Award categories. So it's no surprise that Netflix decided to renew it for a second season, which we learned about in January 2023.
A year later, the series is approaching the active production phase, and with that, more and more details are emerging. For example, we recently received word that the new addition to Season 2 will be the legendary Steve Buscemi.

Jenna Ortega told E! on the Emmys red carpet that she’s “received some scripts for the second season” of “Wednesday,” her Netflix mega-hit that debuted in fall 2022 and became one of the streamer’s most-watched original series of all time. Production on Season 2 got delayed by the Hollywood strikes last year but is expected to kick off in the spring.
“We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror,” Ortega said in an update to fans. “It’s really, really exciting because, all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her.
Ortega continued, “There’s really, really good one-liners and I think everything’s bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”

When the writers strike ended near the start of October, we heard that the top priorities at the Netflix streaming service were to get the scripts for Stranger Things season 5 (the final season of that show) and Wednesday season 2 finished. Stranger Things season 5 is expected to go into production any day now, and Deadline reports that Wednesday season 2 is expected to start filming in late April. When this season goes into production, the cast and crew will be reporting to set in an entirely different country than they worked in during the first season. Once again, celebrities went all-out for their Halloween party looks — and seemingly didn’t given a second thought to those SAG-AFTRA rules against specific pop culture costumes for striking actors (which even Saturday Night Live mocked). Below is a roundup of the most striking looks, from Halloween queen Heidi Klum’s incredible velvet peacock to Ed Sheeran’s murder doll Chucky, as well as Adele’s Morticia Addams and Zoë Kravitz as Mia Farrow’s character from Rosemary’s Baby.
Klum told The Hollywood Reporter her costume took six hours to put on. “I wanted to do something with a lot of people, so when we’re all crunched together in a certain position we become one,” she said. “And I thought of a peacock because you can fan out, and I wanted to do it with artists and acrobats.”

“I still can’t quite believe that we’ve been Emmy nominated,” says first-time nominee Tara McDonald, the contemporary makeup designer on Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday.” “I would only have ever dreamt of working with Tim Burton. He is one of my favorite directors. I’ve watched so many of his films. I love his films. ‘Edward Scissorhands’ was probably one of the reasons why I wanted to do makeup. It was all pretty surreal.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Wednesday” follows Wednesday Addams’ (Jenna Ortega) years as a student at Nevermore Academy, when she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a killing spree, and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents. McDonald has been nominated for Best Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic) for her work on the show. The series received 12 Emmy nominations overall, including Best Comedy.

Butch Patrick turns 70 today, but he still exhibits the same youthful exuberance he brought to The Munsters as Eddie Munster from 1964 to 1966. From child actor to the classic series’ de facto delegate, I had the pleasure of speaking with Patrick about his unconventional career, The Munsters‘ legacy, and more at NorthEast Comic Con’s Collectibles Extravaganza.
Patrick stumbled into acting. While accompanying his little sister to a print modeling shoot, the photographer asked to take his photo as well. “He took some pictures of me afterward, and he put one in his window. About a month later, a producer and a director were walking by. They were casting a movie, and they still needed the youngest son of Eddie Albert and Jane Wyatt. I wound up getting the movie. It was a great little B-movie called The Two Little Bears.”

As part of today’s Tudum fan event, the Netflix streaming service has just unveiled a new video that shows Wednesday cast members Jenna Ortega, Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, and Hunter Doohan discussing some of the theories fans have come up about season 2 – and while doing so they confirm that we’ll be seeing another familiar member of the Addams family in the new season! They just aren’t able to say exactly who that Addams family member is. The video can be seen in the embed above.
Wednesday is described as a comedic, supernaturally-infused coming-of-age series that follows the teenage girl’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the town, and solve a mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationships at Nevermore. Wednesday stars Gwendoline Christie, Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta–Jones reunited at their hit Netflix show’s ATAS Official Event at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California, on Saturday.
The actresses, who play Larissa Weems, Wednesday, and Morticia Addams in the comedy-drama, posed together looking like a very stylish and happy trio.
50 Best Celebrity Bikinis Slideshow!
Christie, 44, whose role in season 2 remains unclear, opted for an elegant black satin gown. Ortega, 20, wore a preppy goth blazer and matching shorts, which she wore over an orange turtleneck, which, unlike the suit, did not fit with her character’s sharper dark sense of style. Zeta-Jones channeled her inner Morticia, wearing a sultry black dress with a lace corset-style top and off-the-shoulder sleeves.
Wednesday has been renewed for a second season after its record-breaking release, becoming Netflix’s second-most streamed English series.

Catherine Zeta-Jones could edge ever closer to becoming a member of the exclusive Egot club with her guest role in Netflix’s hit comedy series “Wednesday.” So far, only 18 people have achieved the feat of winning an Egot, which means winning the top prize in the four major entertainment fields of TV (Emmy), music (Grammy), film (Oscar), and theater (Tony).
Zeta-Jones is currently halfway there. She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for “Chicago” in 2003 and then won a Tony Award in 2010 for Best Actress in a Musical for “A Little Night Music.” She has never been up for a Grammy herself, although “Chicago” did win the Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. The Addams Family first came to life 85 years ago as a series of comics appearing in The New Yorker, then gained national attention when the characters were adapted into a 1964 TV show. Then, in the ’90s, they hit the big screen with The Addams Family and Addams Family Values. Oscar-winner Angelica Huston played the ghoulishly glamorous Morticia Addams in both films, and at the time of the first film’s release, she told us that her personal point of reference for the character went back to the original comics. The Gold Derby predictions center event for the 2023 Emmy Awards has now added the Comedy Guest Actress category. We have compiled lists of nearly 40 eligible performers in each of the four guest acting races that reflect our educated guesses on who will be submitted for consideration. More names will be added in the next few months and when the Television Academy releases this year’s ballots in June. Make your very first selections now!
From last year’s six nominees, both Jane Lynch (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Harriet Walter (“Ted Lasso”) are eligible to return. Lynch, of course, won this category back in 2019 for her performance as Midge’s (Rachel Brosnahan) nemesis, standup comedian Sophie Lennon. Laurie Metcalf won last year for a two-episode arc on “Hacks,” which nabbed four of the six guest actress slots last cycle. Once Jenna Ortega was hard at work playing the title character on Netflix’s Addams Family series Wednesday, she became so dedicated to making sure the title character came off just right that she would even change lines from the way they were written in the scripts. But during an interview with the UK’s Times, she revealed that she initially passed on the chance to star in Wednesday.
Ortega told the Times (as reported by Deadline), “I got the email, passed on it. I had done so much TV in my life, all I’ve ever wanted to do is film. I was scared that by signing on to another television show it could prevent me from doing other jobs I really wanted and cared about.“

This post contains mild spoilers for the first season of "Wednesday."
After its first season became a surprise smash hit for Netflix, it's no surprise that more "Wednesday" is already on the way. The streamer has ordered a second season of the goth girl reimagining of "The Addams Family," and while fans wait around, questions about where the show will go next are already beginning to pile up. Will Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) abandon the love triangle and possibly strike up a romance with her roommate and bestie Enid (Emma Myers)? Who started stalking the psychic teen in the finale's final moments? And of course: Will our favorite members of the Addams family make return appearances?
The last question was one /Film's Ryan Scott asked actor Luis Guzmán when he caught up with the "Story Ave" star ahead of that movie's festival premiere this week. Scott asked Guzmán if audiences should...

Jenna Ortega, star of Netflix’s hit Addams Family series Wednesday, has previously said she had to struggle with directors on the show who didn’t always trust the approach she was taking to the character. Starting with Tim Burton, who directed half of the show’s first season and didn’t want Ortega to show any expression or emotion at all. Something she didn’t feel would work for a lead character who had to push the plot forward. Now in an interview with Variety, Ortega revealed that she also had to change lines from the scripts because they weren’t true to her character.
Ortega said, “I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down more on a set in a way that I had to on Wednesday. Everyhing that Wednesday does, everything I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all.

It's a cast reunion that makes us want to dance with our hands in the air! Gwendoline Christie and Christina Ricci, who both starred in season one of Netflix's "Wednesday," reunited on Feb. 22 at Fendi's Fall 2023 Ready to Wear Fashion Show in Milan, Italy. The duo posed for photos together inside the showroom.
"I love you @riccigrams," Christie wrote on her Instagram Story alongside a video of her and Ricci hugging during the event. Ricci posted the same video and wrote "I [heart] @gwendolineuniverse so very much." Ricci also posted on her feed that she attended the show with her husband Mark Hampton. Christie commented on her costar's post with a chain of black heart and fire emojis.
In "Wednesday" season one, which premiered in November 2022, Christie played the headmistress at Nevermore Academy, Larissa Weems. Weems was also the roommate of Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta Jones) during their school days.

Dylan Michael Douglas is one lucky son — and he knows it!
The 22-year-old son of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones spoke with Et’s Nischelle Turner at the Los Angeles premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on Monday, where he happily bragged about his parents’ latest projects.
“I’m very, very proud,” Dylan raved. “I mean, obviously, they’re great actors — both Academy Award-winning actors — but they’re great parents. And that’s a side that not everyone gets to see, but I get to see every day, in and out. So on that front, they do great. And they also do good work on the screen.”
Michael makes his MCU return as Hank Pym in Quantumania, while Catherine recently appeared as Morticia Addams in the first season of Netflix’s Wednesday. Dylan said that watching his parents’ prestigious projects makes him proud — and eager to join them onscreen!

Netflix has officially confirmed Wednesday will return for season two. The announcement was accompanied by a one-minute video in which Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) says thanks for being put through pure torture. (We all know how much Wednesday loves that!).
The video points out that over the course of a few weeks, she was hunted, haunted, and mimicked across the internet. Wednesday’s loving it and so are viewers who’ve made the series the second most popular show ever on Netflix.
“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world. Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first,” said creators, showrunners, and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar in a feature on Tudum.

Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first,” said creators, showrunners, and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar in a feature on Tudum.

To the surprise of no one, “Wednesday” has been renewed for Season 2 at Netflix.
The eight-episode first season of the series centered on the titular “Addams Family” character originally debuted on Nov. 23. Netflix announced shortly thereafter that the series set a new platform record for most hours viewed for an English language series in its first week with over 341 million hours. Since then, the show has grown to become the second biggest English language season of television on Netflix with over 1.2 billion hours viewed within its first 28 days, among other streaming series records.
Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday Addams in the horror comedy series. Per the official first season description, the show centers on Wednesday’s “years as a student at Nevermore Academy. She attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her...

Jenna Ortega has a lot in common with Wednesday Addams. The actor might not have a disembodied hand as a sidekick, but she shares her character's love for the macabre, an aversion to color, and a dry sense of humor to match. With so many similarities, it's no wonder that Ortega constantly steals the show in "Wednesday." Of course, the Addams daughter is always a force to be reckoned with; pair her with the right actor and electricity is all but guaranteed.
Considering how well-loved past iterations of the Addams family have been, new actors are always faced with a big challenge: getting to the heart of their character without coming across as a knock-off. It's a careful balancing act. No one wants to look like they're ripping off Barry Sonnenfeld's '90s movies, which up until the release of Netflix's "Wednesday" were perhaps the most well-known version of the family.

Director Tim Burton made his television directing debut by taking the helm of the first four episodes of the Netflix series Wednesday‘s eight episode first season. And when the time came to choose who would provide the music for the show, Burton went with his frequent collaborator Danny Elfman, who had also never worked in episodic TV before (aside from composing themes). Speaking with IndieWire, Elfman discussed the fact that he brought in a partner to help him face the challenge of composing the score for a TV series.
Elfman said, “I brought on a partner, Chris Bacon, to work with me because I’d never done episodic television. I was afraid that there was going to be a learning curve that was going to be kind of crushing. And it was. It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, you’re dealing with delivering full scores, almost...

“This is not a true story,” former Mandalorian actress Gina Carano says in her Maga star turn as a Secret Service agent in My Son Hunter, the new film dramatizing — with plenty of liberties, to say the least — the life of President Biden’s most controversial son.
It’s also, unsurprisingly, not a good movie.
I was secretly a little hyped for My Son Hunter, which was released Wednesday on Breitbart News. How hard is it to fuck up a movie about drugs, sex, and allegations of international racketeering — especially...
