Andrew Lincoln has been cast in AMC's The Walking Dead, says The Hollywood Reporter. The actor has signed to play Rick Grimes, a police officer who guides a group of survivors as they attempt to stay alive following a zombie apocalypse. Lincoln joins the already cast Jon Bernthal in the project, based on Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's The Walking Dead comic book series. "Andrew Lincoln, wow - what an amazing find this guy is," said Kirkman. He added: "Writing Rick Grimes (more)...

Call me shallow, but to me Jonny Lee Miller will always be known as the lucky dog who tapped Angelina Jolie before she became Angelina Jolie, thanks to a little (and in hindsight, very silly) hacker film called “Hackers” in 1995. So what’s been going on with Zero Cool lately? Besides losing out on the Jolie nightly visits, he’s been doing lots of movies and starred in a couple of canceled TV shows (“Eli Stone”, “Smith”), and according to Bloody-Disgusting, he’s currently the frontrunner to lead the pack in AMC’s “The Walking Dead” TV show. If Miller does get cast, he’ll play Rick Grimes, a police officer in a small town who, according to the original comics by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore, wakes up from a coma in the hospital only to discover that his town has been overrun with zombies while he was out.

Last week, word broke that Jon Bernthal was the first actor to be cast in Frank Darabont's upcoming adaptation of Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead." With the pilot episode scheduled to begin shooting in May, a potential frontrunner for the lead role has emerged.
According to Bloody Disgusting, actor Jonny Lee Miller is the leading candidate to portray Rick Grimes, a police officer who reluctantly guides a group of survivors in a world infested by zombies. If the report is accurate, Miller would appear opposite Bernthal, who is portraying Shane, Rick's best friend and partner on a small town police force. In the comic book series, Rick and Shane eventually come into conflict over the leadership of the group and for the affections of Rick's wife, Lori.

Zombie fans, rejoice! AMC announced today that their in-development television adaptation of The Walking Dead has been greenlit to series. Based on the popular zombie comic series written by Robert Kirkman, the show will have a six-episode first season beginning later this year.
Since this project was announced, every tidbit of news has had us foaming at the mouth. First came the announcement that renowned film director Frank Darabont, his horror chops already proven with The Mist, would be directing the pilot. Then, The Hollywood Reporter brought word that the first unwitting human joining the cast is Jon Bernthal. Recently seen in a supporting role in Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer, Bernthal has also acted in genre television before, most recently in the short-lived Eastwick.

It feels like a Watcher's lifetime since the first pictures off the set of "Iron Man 2" emerged, but as Jon Favreau's tweets suggest, that May release date is fast approaching. Ever the diligent updater, he says he's just got a few sound mixes and visual effects left to finalize.
In other directorial news, Kevin Smith had been answering questions as usual over on his account, and he responded honestly when someone asked him how he felt about directing someone else's script for "Cop Out." Check out what he had to say below along with some micro-reviews of "The Big Bang Theory" from last night and "CSI" in general. Hot on the heels of last week’s official announcement regarding AMC’s TV series plans for the popular horror comic The Walking Dead comes the first review of Frank Darabont’s pilot script, and unsurprisingly it sounds like the project is great shape. The comics, created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore, detail the struggles of several pulse-and-breath characters as they combat an undead apocalypse. Which is precisely the kind of programming that’s needed more on idiot boxes. Hopefully this project kills ratings wise and spurs a new wave of credible horror decorating primetime lineups.
Enough daydreaming, though. Coming Attractions has obtained a copy of the pilot’s script and jotted down some thoughts, all of which are positive and terrible for those salivating at the gums to see the show, even though its a ways off. As Coming Attractions reminds us, this isn’t Darabont...

Back in August we told you that Frank Darabont, the writer/director of such films as The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and The Mist, was in final talks to write and direct a small screen adaptation of the Image Comics series The Walking Dead. Darabont pitched the concept to AMC and several other outlets, with Gale Anne Hurd, who is attached to exec produce. Today it was confirmed by THR that AMC is picking up a pilot for the comic book adaptation. The black and white comic book series was created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore in 2003, and is considered to be the definitive zombie graphic novel ever created. The ongoing series now has over 60 issues, which have been collected in 10 trade paperbacks (but month's end). You can pick up the first tradepaperback on Amazon for around $10. "Prepping" has now turned into "actually making", with the news that the pilot episode has officially got the go ahead. In print form, The Walking Dead is by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, and has been running since 2003. It currently stretches to eleven volumes in the paperback collections, and basically involves Zombiegeddon survivor Rick Grimes and his family making their way to a possibly apocryphal Last Safe Place, and getting into agreeably visceral scrapes and adventures along the way. AMC's Charlie Collier said that "working with people like Frank and Gale is the right way for us to deliver a project of distinction in this genre." Written by Robert Kirkman | Art by Charlie Adlard, Cliff Rathburn, and Tony Moore
This is how it starts. Life is normal. The days go by. The night puts us to sleep. And then we wake up and realize we’re surrounded by zombies. In an instant, your enemies are your friends, and some of your friends become enemies. People around the country are opening up and adapting to a new beginning; a place where you have to survive and to do so, by looking over your shoulder every five minutes. Because if you don’t, a zombie just might make a breakfast out of you.
Before the New Year brings in a new decade of technological advancement, celebrity scandal, and one hit wonders, fans of zombies need to make a quick pit stop to the local bookstore or online seller for The Walking Dead...

Rick Remender, Seth Peck and Francesco Francavilla's horror comic “Sorrow” has been optioned as a potential feature film by Twisted Pictures, the production company behind the “Saw” franchise.
Screenwriter Michael Hidalgo (“The Butcherhouse Chronicles”) is set to adapt the script, according to Shock Till You Drop. First published as a four issue miniseries in 2007 by Image Comics, “Sorrow” follows a young woman and her friends who are stranded in a literal ghost town where the spirits of the dead threaten to claim the bodies of the living.
“Saw” producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules are also onboard the project. Burg and Koules are also executive producers of the long running sitcom, “Two and a Half Men.”
Remender is quickly becoming one of the busiest comic creators in Hollywood. Earlier this year, Remender was tapped to write the screenplay adaptation of his upcoming miniseries “The Last Days of American Crime” from Radical Publishing.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Universal had picked up the film rights to Rick Remender and Tony Moore’s epic sci-fi comic, “Fear Agent.” And while the series may be wrapping up next year, Remender is hinting that “Fear Agent” may have an even brighter future on the silver screen.
“The details are being ironed out,” Remender teased to Newsarama. “The real announcement will be much cooler and come with fireworks and dancing ladies with boobs. If this happens the way it might happen, it’ll be great.”
Back in August, Remender told MTV News that he hoped “Fear Agent” would become “a giant $100 million dollar movie.” Remender also stated that “Mad Man” star Jon Hamm would be one of his top choices to play the series' main character, Heath Hudson. Apparently, Jon Hamm is also heavily favored by Remender's “Fear Agent” co-creator and artist, Tony Moore.
