Fresh off the first-ever Netflix is a Joke comedy festival, the streamer confirmed which performances will be available to view in the coming weeks, including tributes to late comedians such as Bob Saget and Robin Williams and the yet-to-be-announced date for Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias’s groundbreaking set at Dodger Stadium.
Featuring a wide range of events and stars, the festival also made headlines for some of its comedians’ jokes, such as Pete Davidson’s digs at Kanye West. But the biggest news of the fest was when Dave Chappelle was tackled on stage during his set at the Hollywood Bowl, with the attacker being charged with four misdemeanor counts. For its part, Netflix responded by saying, “We care deeply about the safety of creators and we strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence.” Chappelle’s four sold-out shows are not included in...

Netflix has picked up a second season of the game show “Floor Is Lava,” TheWrap has confirmed.
The 10-episode game show debuted in June 2020 and challenged teams to navigate rooms “flooded with lava by leaping from chairs, hanging from curtains and swinging from chandeliers,” according to Netflix’s description. “Yes, really.”

Floor Is Lava is returning to Netflix for a second season.
As expected, the streamer has renewed the non-scripted series, which debuted in June 2020.
The series, which is hosted by Rutledge Wood, sees teams compete to navigate rooms flooded with lava by leaping from chairs, hanging from curtains and swinging from chandeliers.
It is produced by American Ninja Warrior producer A. Smith & Co and Haymaker Media. Irad Eyal and Megan McGrath exec produce alongside showrunner Anthony Carbone, Arthur Smith, Frank Sinton, Caroline Baumgard, and Anthony Storm.
As with other non-scripted series, Netflix has gone to unusual lengths to keep its renewals secret with A. Smith & Co. putting out a casting call under the title Get Across The Room to find new contestants.
It did the same thing for Too Hot To Handle, which Deadline revealed had received a two season pick up. Variety broke the renewal news.

For its season finale, the "Top Gear" guys were tasked with making the worst cars in the country cool. One of those cars? A 2001 Pontiac Aztek, a car so uncool, dealers couldn’t sell all the new ones -- even before the economy crashed ... even though a free tent was sold with it. So, to spruce it up, the guys had a few ideas.
“Cut out the fenders here, painted the plastic black ... Tinted the gigantic, ugly turn signals and the taillights,” Rutledge Wood explained. “As long as no one drives it while they’re turning. It’s great in a straight line though.”
The fix-up job worked: The new-looking Aztek sold for $4,100 at auction, a solid win for the "Top Gear" crew.

Having beaten his co-hosts to win a spot in an actual truck race in California, Rutledge Wood got to race for real, but it nearly ended in tragedy. After taking a series of bumps at speed, Rutledge wiped out.
His truck flipped over several times before finally coming to rest on its roof. Adam Ferrara watched anxiously as the safety crew and medics attended to Rutledge. "It's not good," Adam said. "He's not standing up."
Thankfully, a battered and bruised Rutledge sustained only minor injuries. "How'd it look?" he asked Adam.
"It looked great ... we need another angle," joked Adam. "Can you do it again?"

The "Top Gear" (Tues., 9 p.m. Et on History) team took on truck racing Tuesday night.
