It’s a striking photo.
Mindy Cohn and four friends stand topless in a pool, their hands covering their breasts. It’s a nod to Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and also an acknowledgement that Cohn herself waged a five-year battle against the disease.
The women — Madeline Hayes, Lulu Johnson (Betsey Johnson’s daughter), Neda Soderqvist and Lynn De Logi — come from different walks of life but were part of Cohn’s “gaggle of girls” who were always present during Cohn’s health crisis.

When The Facts of Life star Mindy Cohn decided to go public with her five-year battle with metastatic breast cancer, she knew exactly where she wanted to do it.

There in Sharon Springs, New York, Cohn was relaxed and upbeat as she talked about her journey.

There are several things that have to be discussed in this recap of Friday (December 19) night's "Amazing Race" finale, but I want to get this out of the way: I don't think Brooke was wrong to be pissed off to see The Candy Girls arrive at the Manila airport after the last Leg and I don't think Adam was wrong to say that he was frustrated. When I talked to Phil Keoghan about the rash of episodes in which teams didn't go home this season -- Four out of 11 episodes -- he said that people were universally excited by the ending of the last Leg, because it was something they had never seen before. True. What they hadn't seen before was a team get spared from elimination at the end of what was, for all intents and purposes, a Leg despite finishing last, only to be immediately rewarded with an Equalizer at the airport,...

Nadiya from Survivor talks her Tribal Council ouster.
Nadiya Anderson and her twin sister Natalie, aka the "Twinnies," have seen some hard times in reality TV. They made it to the final four in season 21 of The Amazing Race, but were eliminated first when they returned for Amazing Race: All Stars. And last night, it seems like history repeated itself as Nadiya was the first voted off in Survivor: San Juan del Sur. Et caught up with the 28-year-old from New Jersey (via Sri Lanka) to get her take on her ouster.
She took it in good spirits, telling Et, "Unfortunately it wasn't the first time for me having these feelings, so I was pretty good at dealing with my emotions. I was kind of over it, as soon as I saw my name being written down, I was like, dude, get me off this crazy asylum with the lunatics [on my tribe]."

Arrivals. Welcome to the start of "Survivor: Seriously Anybody Other Than John Rocker" or, as CBS seems to want to call it, "Survivor: San Juan Del Sur," or "Survivor: Blood vs Water - Newbies Edition." As usual, Jeff Probst arrives via helicopter, scaring the nine pairs of loved ones down on the beaches. Once again, each pair is in isolation, where they've been given flint and told to prepare and enjoy a night together. Jaclyn is Ms Michigan, while Jon played football at Michigan State, but they don't want to be viewed as threatening. And speaking of "threatening," Veteran media-blamer (and current member of the media) John Rocker blames the media for labeling him a bigot, while Julie doesn't want to be judged for her boobs. [Oh yeah! We've got monkeys!] Missy and Baylor are the first to experience my new favorite simian characters. Missy is frequently divorced and Baylor stands behind her, especially...

Yesterday, critics talked with NBC head Robert Greenblatt, who said that he's not sure when Hannibal will air, but it won't be until late in the TV season. Meanwhile, Michael J. Greenblatt also expressed faith in Days of Our Lives, saying "it's not going anywhere." That's a very welcome change from the days when Jeff Zucker was predicting impending cancellation for the soap. We're so lucky Zucker never got around to dumping Days for the ninth hour of The Today Show.

Another week, another full notebook I need to empty out, as my travels this week have taken me to Toronto and the set of 2013 Netflix series Hemlock Grove (more on that in the new year), but I also managed to grab some good scoop from American Horror Story and Portlandia, while chatting up the hunky runners-up from The Amazing Race.

Nobody was as surprised as Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge (a.k.a. The Beekman Boys) that they were the first to cross the finish line on Sunday’s Amazing Race finale. Often referring to themselves as the underdogs, the gay couple, who have been together for 14 years, beat the odds and throughout the race maintained their integrity. They constantly pushed and supported each other to a million dollar prize.
We talked to Josh and Brent post-finale to get their take on what put them ahead of the other teams (including runners-up Chippendale contestants Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis),and what exactly they plan to do with their newly won million.
AfterElton: So how hard has it been to keep this secret??

Jaymes Vaughan (l) and James Davis celebrate 2nd place on this season's The Amazing Race.
The finale of CBS’s The Amazing Race aired last Sunday night, and we now know that the million dollar prize went to The Beekman Boys, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and his partner, Brent Ridge.
But making the competition hotter – in more ways than one – were Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis, the two Chippendales dancers who proved that not only are they are great to look at but that they also have big hearts.
In fact, one of the more touching points of the show is when Jaymes (the blonde, openly gay one) talked about doing the race for his father, who is currently fighting cancer. The obvious friendship between Jaymes and James (who is straight) was also abundantly clear throughout the race as the guys consistently showed their upbeat, always cheery demeanors as often as their impressive pecs and abs!

The Amazing Race Review, Season 21, Episode 11,
“Take Down That Million”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
What truly makes a strong team on The Amazing Race? The obvious answer is athleticism, but plenty of powerful young pairs have left early. Scanning through the winners, most are capable at physical challenges but don’t always stand out as the team to beat. Two weeks ago, Abbie and Ryan were eliminated purposely by the others due to their status as a threat. This felt like the right move because Josh and Brent have struggled at many tasks. Even so, their ease at handling mental challenges made them a deceptive choice to keep afloat. Unlike a show like Survivor, it’s problematic to try and manipulate who sticks around because future legs are unknown. There’s no jury at the end to choose the most worthy player. Instead, all it takes is...

And what I hope this proves to people whether they're a minority, out of work or they're losing their house or whatever, that if they just keep going and just keep working as hard as they can, people will help and at some time, you will win." His partner Brent added: "This Race really has brought us back together again. I've had to work in the city, and he's on the farm. So winning this Race will actually physically bring us back together again, for the next 50 years." (more)...

If ever there was a clear underdog in any season finale of "The Amazing Race" it was the Beekman Boys in Season 21. They'd never won a leg of the race, and more significantly, the other three teams they were racing against were blatantly in an alliance with one another. The Beekman boys were on their own, and they would have to come together in a way they'd never done before.
The first hour saw them sneak past the twins, Nadiya & Natalie, earning a spot in the Final Three. Then, they got home field advantage as the final destination was their home city of New York. But in the end, it came down to remembering how each country they'd visited said "hello" and "goodbye." While the other teams went with a random approach, the Beekmans turned it from a language exercise into a mathematical one.
That strategy worked, as they were the first ones done.

It all came down to this. The Amazing Race two-hour special finale tonight ended by crowning the pair that was named season 21's $1 million winner, but there were plenty of hurdles Lexi and Trey, James and Jaymes, and Josh and Brent had to face before getting to that point. Here's a little recap of what happened... The 11th leg of the race kicked off with the four teams having to travel by train from Barcelona to Loire Valley, France, and a slight conspiracy. Everyone was trying to formulate a plan to get Josh and Brent (aka the Beekman Boys) out of the race. However, they weren't too discreet about it. With that idea in the back of their heads, the...

The Amazing Race has crowned its 21st pair of winners.
Following a two-hour season finale that features a trio of teams - Lexi and Try, James and Jaymes, Josh and Brent - venturing from Europe to New York, the finalists ended up at the United Nations.
Once there, the tandems paired up the words for "hello" and "goodbye" from the nine nations they visited throughout their travels.
And who came out on top of this memory challenge? Josh and Brent!
“We never, ever thought we would hear you say those words to us,” Brent admitted just after Phil Keoghan announced them as champions. We have a feeling many viewers felt the same way, as Josh concluded:
“We were underdogs, and what I hope this proves to people - whether they’re a minority or they’re out of work or they’re losing their house or whatever - if they...

Our full recap of The Amazing Race is in the works, but before that goes up, we thought it only right to let you know who took home the $1 million prize.
Tonight’s two-hour finale saw the three final teams — Lexi & Trey, James & Jaymes, and Josh & Brent — travel from Europe to the city that is the main home to EW itself: New York! The teams skittered from Coney Island to the Brooklyn Navy Yard (where one from each team had to escape a straight jacket while hanging upside down!) to Lombardi’s in Little Italy to, finally, the United Nations.

Sunday's Amazing Race finale won't have any drama like last season, but Phil Keoghan promises a legitimate tight finish. "It's what we always want, but can never guarantee," he tells TVGuide.com. The two-hour closer will find the final four teams — Chippendales Jaymes and James, twins Natalie and Nadiya, couple Trey and Lexi, and The Fabulous Beekman Boys' Josh and Brent — racing through France, where one team will be eliminated. The final three will then head to New York City, where they'll take on a memory task that numerous fans predicted would be the final challenge.
Get the scoop on what else to expect Sunday — and next season — from Keoghan below.

Season 21 of "The Amazing Race" is coming to a close on Sunday (Dec. 9), and host Phil Keoghan promises a wild finale.
"The finale is an all-out sprint to the finish line!" Keoghan tells Zap2it. "It's pretty insane. We have a terrifying Houdini-inspired Roadblock in New York, where teams are hanging 15 stories above the Brooklyn Navy Yard...and much more.
"But it's not so much about the challenges that the teams will encounter in the final leg as it is about the mental stress that they have to endure. In the previous legs, the only thing they needed to worry about was not coming in last. Now, it's imperative that they come in first. No room for error."
But often in "Tar," teams have no control over the game -- such as the travel mishaps experienced by Abbie and Ryan, who were on track to be the Race's first $2 million winners.

This Sunday a new Amazing Race million-dollar winner will be crowned -- and the Beekman boys, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge, are telling all to Et about their thoughts going into the finale, how they helped to change the mind of one of their teammates, and details about their upcoming wedding.
ETonline: Congrats on making it to the finale in third place – did it give you an extra confidence boost to be in the top three going into the final?
Brent: It's always comforting to know that there's someone behind you as a buffer between you and the elimination, but we went into the Race knowing that most of the time Racers defeat themselves rather than other teams beating them, so we have always been more focused on the decisions we were making than what other teams are doing ahead of or behind us.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 21, Episode 10, “Not a Well-Rounded Athlete”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
One of the most exciting episodes of The Amazing Race typically happens right before the finale where four teams battle to make the last leg. That appears to be the likely scenario this week, but it’s really just setting the stage for the two-hour conclusion. There’s little at stake beyond placement, and a bunching flight brings everyone close together. Even so, there’s plenty of fun within the challenges to keep it enjoyable. The teams fly to Barcelona and take an overnight ferry to the island of Mallorca, the home of Rafael Nadal. It’s interesting to note the significant gap at the start, which puts each pair on a different flight. Josh and Brent begin about seven hours after Natalie and Nadiya yet finally catch up due to the ferry’s late starting time.

So long, Ryan & Abbie. We'll always remember you as the team too generic to generate a nickname.
Previously on The Amazing Race, teams traveled from Moscow to Amsterdam. Natalie & Nadiya launched their careers as supervillains, hatching a dastardly scheme to ensure Ryan & Abbie's Philimination and winning the Leg via Fast Forward before some teams had even left Moscow. Jaymes & James wrestled with their consciences (sadly neither nudity nor oil were involved) and carried out their part in the twins' plan by U-Turning Team No-Nickname before finishing 2nd. Trey & Lexi sealed the deal and took 3rd place by U-Turning Team Chippendale and foreclosing Ryan & Abbie's only opportunity. Not that it mattered since not one but two blown connections out of Germany broke the team, leading them back into their baffling Beekman Boys bond. The teams raced together until the U-Turn perfidy was discovered. Josh seriously considered sticking with the...

The Amazing Race Review, Season 21, Episode 9, “Fishy Kiss”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
When did The Amazing Race become Survivor? The leading teams basically voted Abbie and Ryan out by removing the “double” part of the Double U-Turn. While losing an arrogant team usually is refreshing, they still get a raw deal. Even without the flight delays, there is little chance that Abbie and Ryan could survive. Jaymes and James do the official U-Turn on them, but it’s really Trey and Lexi that seal the deal. Instead of picking the goat farmers or skipping it, they purposely choose a team ahead of them. It’s a smart plan that removes a strong team, yet it still leaves a hollow feeling. Blaming the players isn’t fair since they’re just using the devices put in place by the producers. They want to create inter-team drama and aren...

Abbie and Ryan probably won't be traveling through Frankfurt any time soon — or its airport at least. Two weeks after missing a connecting flight there on The Amazing Race, double bad luck struck again when a ticket agent refused to allow the two to board their connecting flight and their backup connection had mechanical trouble. To top it off, the Chippendales, Jaymes and James, U-Turned them as part of a pact with Natalie and Nadiya, and Trey and Lexi. "We were dead men walking," Ryan tells TVGuide.com. "There was no way we were going to be safe unless it was a non-elimination." See what else the couple, who were the first team ever racing for $2 million, has to say about their "rough" couple of legs, working with Josh and Brent, and if they're really mad at the Chippendales.

Never has Photoshopping a couple of red Xes been so tinged with sorrow.

Jaymes & James secured their first win with Trey & Lexi right behind them. The Amazing Race Review, Season 21, Episode 8, “We Was Robbed”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Last week’s episode concluded with three teams still trying to finish the leg. Brent was having no luck in the pool, and James and Abba were standing dumbfounded at the mat without a passport. Their chances for locating their bags are very low, and getting temporary documents from the embassy is a long shot. The rockers try to stay positive, but this feels like a case where the editors are creating tension where it doesn’t exist. Meanwhile, Josh and Brent take one last shot at the Detour and aren’t getting any leeway from the judge. They take the four-hour penalty and move on to the Roadblock with Abbie and Ryan. When she struggles with the keys, Josh sits down and basically does it for her. It’s impressive to watch these...

Thanksgiving is almost here, and ETonline is getting holiday tips from The Amazing Race and The Fabulous Beekman Boys stars Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge. Read on for the guys' advice on everything from what to serve, how to avoid travel frustration and how to go local with your Christmas shopping.
ETonline: For our readers who might be familiar with you from The Amazing Race, and the Cooking Channel, but who might not know more about you, can you tell us a little bit about yourselves, and your life on the farm?
Josh: Yeah. We were two city guys, who had great jobs in New York City. Brent worked for Martha Stewart, and I worked in advertising. And we bought a farm in upstate New York. Sort of just on a whim as a weekend place. And then in 2008, like a lot of Americans, we lost our jobs. We realized that we had to make this...

Previously on The Amazing Race, teams traveled to Moscow, Russia, where we were once again treated to male pulchritude when several teams joined the Russian national synchronized swimming team for a routine. Trey & Lexi took 1st place for the second Leg in a row and won a trip to Maui that Lexi would love to turn into a honeymoon trip. The Chippendales nuded up in the swimming pool and finished 2nd. The lying thieving twins got away with pinching Team Headbang's money and landed at the Pit Stop in 3rd. Speaking of, James & Abba continued their unlucky streak when a cabbie absconded with James's passport and other possessions preventing them from checking in at the Amazing Mat. Brent & Josh and Ryan & Abbie took a foolish chance on a connecting flight, stranding themselves overnight. Their idiotic pact to run the Leg together left Ryan & Abbie cooling their heels at the pool...

Twins Natalie and Nadiya have been having an absolute blast playing "The Amazing Race" thus far. And they've been doing pretty well, scoring lots of 3rd and 4th place finishes. But with the teams whittling away, they knew it was time to buckle down and get serious.
So of course this was the leg that one of them ripped her pants while learning a Russian solder dance. Not once, mind you, but twice! Nevertheless, the twins were able to sail through the challenges, and score yet another 3rd place finish.
The news was not so good for James and Abba. They wrapped the last episode with the news that they'd lost one of their passports. They were allowed to keep racing until such time as they needed it, as it was a non-elimination leg. Try as they did, though, they could not get a new passport in time.

[Note: Dan is on vacation, so Myles McNutt is filling in for this week's "The Amazing Race" recap.] When last week’s “Amazing Race” ended with “To Be Continued,” it was a different ending than we’re used to seeing with that particular phrase: whereas sometimes the show has done this when a leg gets extended (and the “Pit Stop” becomes a halfway point), in this case it was to put off the inevitable conclusion temporarily. Josh and Brent were failing miserably at the Synchronized Swimming Detour after falling behind due to a missed connection, but then James and Abba lost a passport, meaning...

“Off to See the Wizard”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
One of the most exciting parts about The Amazing Race is how unpredictable events can completely change the game. Although teams are competing in designed challenges, there is no definite way to avoid chaos. There have been extreme cases in the past, especially in the All-Star season where the next leg began while others were still competing in the previous one. That may be the case again here because of several factors. First of all, a delayed flight strands Abbie and Ryan and Josh and Brent overnight in the Frankfurt airport. They finally arrive at Moscow while several others are finishing. The unnecessary gamble to choose a faster flight with a one-hour layover costs them. When they miss the connection, both pairs have no choice but to wait a long time. Even...
