One of the most popular fictional characters of all time, Robin Hood, has been at the center of numerous adaptations. From the early days when Errol Flynn played the legendary outlaw to modern adaptations starring big names such as Sean Connery or Kevin Costner (there is even an animated adaptation by Disney), Robin Hood has been an inspiration for filmmakers and it seems that a new movie that will tackle the story is going to be released relatively soon. The Death of Robin Hood will start production next year and will tell the story of an older, guilt-ridden Robin Hood, and as we know now, Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer have signed on to star in the movie.
Not much is known about the project, as there is still a long way to go until filming starts, but the film is in the pre-production phase now, and we do have...

Lupita Nyong’o radiated a female boss vibe as she kicked off the press tour for A Quiet Place: Day One in London on Wednesday. She was hard to ignore in her springtime pink suit, but her adorable plus one—a black-and-white feline—instantly captured my attention.

Four months of horror releases down, eight to go! With our 2024 Horror Preview, we’re looking ahead at some of the other horror movies we can’t wait to check out this year. For now, we’re only including movies that have a known release date, so films like the remakes/reboots of The Toxic Avenger and Witchboard are currently absent because they don’t have a release date yet, even though they’re likely to show up at some point in 2024. Here we go:

Hugh Jackman has done wonders for the big screens, and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon despite nearing his late fifties. Besides fulfilling millions of fans’ wishes by returning as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, he seems to have another action project lined up, though this time, it is reportedly with Jodie Comer and filmmaker Michael Sarnoski.

This project is none other than The Death of Robin Hood. And yes, after his dear friend Russell Crowe left behind the mantle following the mixed reviews his 2010 movie on Hood received, Jackman is seemingly picking it back up for his version of Hood. That said, he might as well end up righting the wrongs of the 2010 film with a Logan-like movie on the legendary outlaw hero.

Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer are teaming up for a new adaptation of Robin Hood!
The two actors will star in the film The Death of Robin Hood, according to Deadline.
The movie is being described as “a darker reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale. Set of its time, the film will see the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battleworn loner who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance at salvation.”
Michael Sarnoski, who previously made Pig and the upcoming A Quiet Place: Day One, will write and direct the movie.
“It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood,” Michael said in a statement. “Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not...

Hugh Jackman makes his anticipated return as Wolverine this summer, but while he is excitingly reprising a beloved role, many agree he also perfectly capped off the popular mutant’s journey in the future-set X-Men sequel, Logan. Logan told the story of a popular anti-hero aging into his older years as he became a more broken-down version of himself. Jackman may not be veering too far off from that theme as he is now set to star in a darker incarnation of the story of literary folk hero Robin Hood.
According to Deadline, Jackman and Jodie Comer are set to star in The Death of Robin Hood. Michael Sarnoski, who directed Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One, will be penning and directing the retelling with Arrival and The Prestige producer Aaron Ryder on board to produce the film. Per Deadline, “The film is a darker reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale.

Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer are heading to Sherwood Forest for one last hurrah.
The “Wolverine” star and the “Killing Eve” actress are attached to star in “The Death of Robin Hood,” a cheery-sounding new film from Michael Sarnoski, the director of the critically-acclaimed “Pig” and this summer’s “A Quiet Place: Day One.”
According to the official logline, the film will find Robin Hood “grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder.” Instead of the merry outlaw seen in certain previous versions of the story like the one portrayed by Errol Flynn, this Robin Hood is “a battleworn loner [who] finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.” It sounds reminiscent of Richard Lester’s elegiac take on the popular story, “Robin and Marian,” a 1976 film starring Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn as a middled-aged Robin Hood and Maid Marian.

As far as investigators go, Jim Rockford (James Garner) is a bit of a departure from the mostly-polished (Columbo excepted) detectives of television's first decade. A slouchily dressed detective who lived in a trailer and served time in San Quentin, Rockford was cool — if not always collected. "The Rockford Files" ran for six seasons on NBC beginning in 1974 and was later resurrected for a series of '90s TV movies. In that time, audiences were introduced not only to Rockford, but to a cast of supporting characters including his truck driver dad Rocky (Noah Beery Jr.), LAPD pal Becker (Joe Santos), and the con artist Angel (Stuart Margolin).
Garner passed away in 2014, and only a few "Rockford Files" castmates are still with us today. Those who are still around include notable recurring guest stars like famously mustachioed "Blue Bloods" star Tom Selleck, Egot-winning multi-hyphenate Rita Moreno, and "Happy Gilmore" director...

With Dune: Part Two and Civil War in theaters, it’s already been a great year for sci-fi, and that doesn’t even count goofball flicks like Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, or any other movies with the word “empire” in the title. Sure, it’s not all perfect. Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, has been pulled from the release schedule and there’s no way that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will release this year. But overall, 2024 has been a strong start for sci-fi movies.

This list doesn’t include upcoming sci-fi movies without firm release dates, but it will when they are announced. It will also be updated to add any movies we may have missed,...

Cats, call your agents. Top creatives are increasingly giving the notoriously tough-to-train pets dramatic roles in live-action projects.
In Steven Zaillian’s acclaimed Netflix limited series Ripley, a Maine Coon dubbed Lucio has been called “a main character.” In Paramount’s upcoming A Quiet Place: Day One, Lupin Nyong’o plays woman struggling to escape an alien invasion with her tuxedo cat Frodo. Last fall, Disney’s The Marvels co-starred a deadly super-powered ginger cat Goose. The sci-fi horror A Quiet Place franchise is heading to New York with its latest entry, A Quiet Place: Day One, which is set to reach theatres on June 28th. Sound might be instant death in the world of "A Quiet Place," but that's not stopping Paramount Pictures from making some noise with the newest installment of this unexpectedly successful franchise. First kicked off by director and star John Krasinski in 2018, the high-concept genre movie instantly stood out as an original, well-crafted, and thoroughly engrossing experience at the theater. And since anything done well these days is apparently always worth doing twice, if not more, that effort led to a sequel just two years later. Now, we're on the cusp of a prequel movie that aims to turn back the clock all the way to ground zero of the alien invasion with "A Quiet Place: Day One."
So how long has this film been in the works? Well, let's put it this way: this week's CinemaCon held in Las Vegas has been expected to debut new footage of the origin story,...

One of the most memorable horror blockbusters in recent memory was director John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place." It remains impressive that the guy who played Jim on "The Office" crafted such a refreshing film (with lots of help from screenwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods) that has spawned an entire franchise. What tends to happen in the realm of horror is that a string of imitators will follow any major success. Well, the time has finally come as "Arcadian" has unquestionably taken more than a little inspiration from Krasinski's 2018 thriller. That said, this is far more than just a cheap imitation. Moreover, it serves as a showcase for one of our most compelling living actors: Nicolas Cage.
"Arcadian" recently screened at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and I was lucky enough to catch the film. Directed by Benjamin Brewer ("The Trust") and written by Michael Nilon ("Braven"), it's certainly not...

Hayden Panettiere of Heroes, Scream 4, and Scream VI shares the screen with Tyler James Williams of Everybody Hates Chris, Abbott Elementary, and The Walking Dead in the thriller Amber Alert. Deadline reports that Lionsgate has acquired the worldwide rights to the film, which flew under the radar as it made its way through production and is now in post-production.
Amber Alert was directed by Kerry Bellessa, who also wrote the screenplay with Joshua Oram. Bellessa’s previous credits include the 2022 horror film Immanence and a 2012 thriller that was also called Amber Alert… so apparently this is a reimagining of Bellessa’s previous film. An alert of a child abduction on their phones will change all that when they discover they are behind a car that matches the description of the kidnapper’s. Paramount Pictures didn’t have a bad 2023 but had put a lot of hopes on the latest in the Mission: Impossible franchise to push them towards a great year. After Tom Cruise soared with Top Gun: Maverick, they had hoped fans would flock to theaters once again to see him in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One. Off that’s a long title. It underperformed, so the next film will get a new name. What can fans look forward to on Paramount’s 2024 release schedule?

Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special) was attached to write and direct A Quiet Place: Day One for a while, but when he dropped out he was replaced by Sarnoski.

What began with a bold script initially written by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck (which attracted the attention of eventual co-writer and director John Krasinski) has grown into a full-on franchise. The synopsis for A Quiet Place: Day 1 is short but sweet: “Experience the day the world went quiet.” The official trailer reveals the day of the attack, showing scenes of the aliens arriving from space and the beginning of humans starting to understand the creatures are attracted to noise.
The prequel focuses on new characters played by Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou.
Unlike A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part 2, John Krasinski isn’t in the director’s chair and didn’t write the screenplay. Instead, Michael Sarnoski takes over as writer and director. However, the plot is based on Krasinski and Sarnoski’s original idea and is part of Krasinski’s plan to expand the A Quiet Place universe.
Krasinski, Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller serve as producers. Executive producers include Allyson Seeger and Vicki Dee Rock.

The trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One, due out June 28, features Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Djimon Hounsou, and an adorable white-and-black cat who are all fighting to survive a global catastrophe. Like the previous Quiet Place films, Day One presents a postapocalyptic world where making the slightest sound summons bloodthirsty alien creatures hellbent on destruction. The twist this time is that it focuses solely on “the day the world went silent,” as the movie’s official synopsis puts it, beginning with shots of a noisy New York City.

New Yorkers minding their own business when aliens attack from the sky? That sounds like a Cloverfield! Well, the first Cloverfield from 2008, anyway.
The teaser for the film promised hip New York teens filming themselves during an alien invasion. Between the Escape from New York homage and the name “J.J. Abrams” — better known at the time for Alias and Lost instead of Star Trek Into Darkness or Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — the Cloverfield trailer created a buzz that concealed the finished product from director Matt Reeves and writer Drew Goddard.

Paramount has releasing the official trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One, a spin-off prequel to John Krasinski’s 2018 and 2020 apocalyptic horror films.
Premiering in theaters June 28th, A Quiet Place: Day One shows us “why the world went quiet.” Naturally, there’s no dialogue in the trailer — aside from a “shh” — but we do see snippets of Lupita Nyong’o and Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn going about their regular lives in Manhattan before all hell breaks loose.
A Quiet Place: Day One was directed and written by Michael Sarnoski, with Krasinski stepping back into a producer role this time around. The new film welcomes new cast members Alex Wolff and Denis O’Hare, and brings back Djimon Hounsou, who starred as the nameless “man on the island” in A Quiet Place Part II.

When you look back on them, A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place: Part II were all about restraint – intended to pitch viewers into a world of near-total silence, and subsequently dread every single tiny noise for fear of alien annihilation. And they proved highly effective horror-thrillers, anchored in character and brilliantly directed by John Krasinksi. But the first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One offers a different angle on those ideas – plunging us head-first into a world of total noise and chaos, as the audibly-motivated extra-terrestrial creatures decimate New York City. As you might guess, it looks incredibly intense. Stick your seatbelt on, and watch the trailer here:
Blimey. We previously got a glimpse of ‘Day One’ of the alien attack in Part II, and that was pure carnage even just in a slice of smalltown America. The big city – the biggest city, in fact, the Big Apple...

Lupita Nyong’o stars in the first trailer for the long-awaited prequel to John Krasinki’s 2018 horror film. Watch the brand new A Quiet Place: Day One trailer here.
In 2018, it was almost criminal to eat popcorn at the cinema, at least if you were watching John Krasinski’s directorial debut, A Quiet Place. The film paid a lot of attention to sound design and silences so munching away at your popped corn during tense moments, of which there were aplenty, was frowned upon.
Our popcorn eating was interrupted again in 2020 when a sequel, again directed by Krasinki, was released. And now, four years later, we must face the eternal question again: to munch or not to munch during A Quiet Place film? We’ll leave you to make that decision for yourselves.
Take a look at the new A Quiet Place: Day One trailer.
This time, we’re getting a prequel.

The Paramount Pictures movie was made in association with Michael Bay and is a Platinum Dunes / Sunday Night production. “Transformers” franchise helmer Bay produces, along with former “A Quiet Place” director/star John Krasinski, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller. The franchise installment is executive produced by Allyson Seeger and Vicki Dee Rock, and uses characters created by “65” directors Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, who penned the initial “A Quiet Place” screenplay.

For the next installment in the blockbuster “A Quiet Place” franchise, things are going back to the start.
Set to arrive in theaters this year, “A Quiet Place: Day One” will detail the origins of the alien invasion that wiped out the Earth’s noisiest citizens by focusing the action on what happened to residents of New York City on the day the sound-sensitive monsters from space first attacked.
The prequel film, which will debut on June 28, stars Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o and “Stranger Things” breakout Joseph Quinn as a pair of unlikely allies in the early stages of the alien onslaught. “Pig” filmmaker Michael Sarnoski wrote and directed “A Quiet Place: Day One” with a story assist from original franchise director John Krasinski.
“When you have a family, there is an innate expectation that they will want to stick together. We don’t have that in this film,” Nyong’o told Entertainment Weekly.
