Exclusive: On April 18th of this year, at a parole board hearing in New Hampshire, convicted murderer James Parker was granted parole for his role in the brutal 2001 stabbing murders of Half and Suzanne Zantop, a pair of married Dartmouth professors. After acquiring rights to Judgment Ridge, a work of nonfiction detailing the chilly story of those murders, producers Randy and Steven Toll have enlisted Matthew Gentile (American Murderer) to direct a feature adaptation from his own script.
Written by Dick Lehr and Mitchell Zuckoff, Judgment Ridge evokes clear memories of Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood, as it delves deeply into the inexplicable behavior that led to these ruthless murders. It was at age 16 that Parker conspired with his best friend to commit the murders of the Zantrops. He and co-conspirator Robert Tulloch came to commit the crime after plotting to put together the $10,000 they needed to move to...

John Krasinski appeared in 2016’s biographical action-thriller 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, directed and produced by Michael Bay. The movie is based on the 2014 book of the same name by Mitchell Zuckoff and follows six members of the Annex Security Team fighting to defend the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. The incident takes place after the attacks by militants on September 11, 2012.
Upon its premiere, the movie received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics but grossed about $69 million worldwide.13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi became one of the lowest-grossing movies of Michael Bay at the time. However, the performances of the actors, action sequences, and the dark tone of the movie were appreciated, and the script by Chuck Hogan was criticized especially for its historical liberties. John Krasinski had shared about his intense training while preparing for the movie.

The 1970 movie "M*A*S*H" is quite a bit different than the television series it inspired, featuring even raunchier humor, darker themes, and more blood and gore. It's rated R and features all of the swearing, violence, and nudity that can come with that rating. The movie's famous nude scene features the late Sally Kellerman as Chief Nurse Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan taking a shower when the pranksters of the medical unit pull away the flaps of her tent, revealing her naked for all to see. While the scene plays pretty differently now than it did in 1970, at the time it was just a raunchy joke, and Kellerman was mostly game. The only problem was that she was really nervous about her first nude scene ever in a film, and that led to some problems with her performance. To take care of this nervousness, director Robert Altman decided to distract her with ... additional nudity!

"M*A*S*H" might've been one of the most popular series of the 1970s and early '80s, but it never drew the eyeballs of the man who made the hit movie on which it was based.
Robert Altman's aversion to the show wasn't prompted by antipathy toward the medium. The legendary filmmaker directed loads of television before his film career caught fire, and returned to the small screen several times (most notably with the brilliant political satire "Tanner '88"). And while he was one of the most critically lauded directors to come out of the New Hollywood revolution, the man was no snob; aside from the anarchic bawdiness of "M*A*S*H," he knocked out shaggy genre flicks like "The Long Goodbye" and "Thieves Like Us," and deigned to shoot a live-action adaptation of a kids cartoon with "Popeye."
You'd think he would've enjoyed the CBS sitcom as much as the rest of us,...

Screenwriter and producer Mark Boal has boarded ABC’s planned adaptation of Mitchell Zuckoff’s book “Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11.”
The broadcaster had announced earlier this month that they were developing the nonfiction book as a potential limited series with plans to air it in 2021 for the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Boal will write the adaptation in addition to serving as executive producer.
Boal won the Academy Award for best original screenplay for “The Hurt Locker,” with the film also winning best picture. He was nominated for the same two categories for his work on “Zero Dark Thirty.” Both projects saw him collaborate with Kathryn Bigelow, with whom he re-teamed on the 2017 film “Detroit.” Most recently, he co-wrote and executive produced the Netflix film “Triple Frontier.” Boal is also a well-known journalist and has contributed articles to publications like Rolling Stone, Playboy, and Salon.

ABC is developing an anthology series based around historical women of the civil rights movement, ABC entertainment president Karey Burke said Monday during the Television Critics Association press tour.
The series, titled “Women of the Movement,” is a chronology of the civil rights movement as told from a black woman’s point of view, with the first season centered on Mamie Till, who devoted her life to seeking justice in her son Emmett’s name following his murder in the Jim Crow South.
The first season will be based on the book, “Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement,” by Devery S. Anderson. During her executive session, Burke added that the network is eyeing a potential second season to focus on Rosa Parks.

I admire Michael Bay as a director, I really do. He is a filmmaker without guile, his images transparent in their vapid grandiloquence. The qualities and values of maximalism, crassness and jingoism that have consistently garnered mockery and acrimonious distain by many are not ones audiences are cleverly exposing, but most often are simply accurate characterizations of the attitudes such films as the two Bad Boys, Pearl Harbor, and his solely-helmed Transformers franchise directly espouse. It may be hard to imagine a film more gaudily self-evident in its values and the force of its aesthetics as the sprawling effects goliath and techno-anti-humanist Transformers: Age of Extinction, but in fact Bay’s most tidily budgeted and CGI free films of recent years, 2013’s true crime Pain & Gain and this year’s true war 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi are his most honest and perceptive, and, because of this, his best.

Based on Mitchell Zuckoff account of the storied assault from 2012, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is the newest film from Michael Bay and centers on the night Islamic militants led an assault on the American diplomatic compound based in the Libyan city. It’s a gripping and moving story, full of bravery and heroism and brought to life in thrilling fashion by the always entertaining director.

Paramount Music will release the 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi – Music from the Motion Picture digitally on January 15, 2016. The album features the film’s original score by Lorne Balfe (Terminator Genisys, Penguins Of Madagascar).
“The film is really about the soldiers’ ordeal and how they coped with the situation at hand,” said Balfe. “Michael (Bay) does a great job keeping the film from becoming political. The film is really here to honor the soldiers and the men and women who ultimately had to step up and do everything they could to save as many people as possible.”
From director Michael Bay, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi is the gripping true story of six elite ex-military operators assigned to protect the CIA who fought back against overwhelming odds when terrorists attacked a U.S. diplomatic compound on September 11, 2012.
