Ariana Greenblatt, who appeared opposite Margot Robbie in last year’s Barbie, will be pulling a rabbit out of her hat.
The actress is joining the ensemble cast of Now You See Me 3, Lionsgate’s long-in-the-works installment of its heist caper thrillers.
Many of the original cast — Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco — are expected to return. The original movies also starred Morgan Freeman and Mark Ruffalo, although it’s not clear if those two will return.
Ruben Fleischer is directing the movie, which garnered a mention last week at Lionsgate’s presentation at CinemaCon.
Lionsgate had no comment on the casting, and it’s unclear who wrote the script. Seth Grahame-Smith, the genre scribe behind The Lego Batman Movie and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and Eric Warren have penned drafts over the years.

FX’s Alien TV series is beginning to come into focus.
Pistol and Don’t Worry Darling actress Sydney Chandler has become the first person cast in the series from Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley.
Plot details are being kept under wraps and no character information has been provided other than that Chandler will play one of the leads.
Alien was picked up straight to series in late 2020. The series is not a reboot of the beloved movies but rather an extension and reinvention of the franchise. The story will not feature any characters from the movies, including Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley.

Exclusive: In what is shaping up to become one of the biggest TV comedy packages to hit the marketplace in awhile, Will Ferrell & Jessica Elbaum’s Gloria Sanchez Productions and Rian Johnson & Ram Bergman’s T-Street have teamed up to develop a comedy TV series as a starring vehicle for Ferrell, I have learned.
No one would comment but I hear the series revolves around a professional golfer who becomes the face of a controversial new league competing with the PGA.
While fictional, the story would inevitably draw parallels to the controversial Liv Golf startup. It also evokes one of Ferrell’s signature movies, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The series is in a similar tone, I hear, bringing Ferrell back to the sports arena he also explored in Blades of Glory and Semi-Pro.

Even at 92, Clint Eastwood isn’t ready to slow down as he has set the thriller Juror #2 as his next film, with Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette in negotiations to star. While it isn’t official, sources also add that with schedules and budget figured, Warner Bros. — Eastwood’s longtime studio home — is close to officially greenlighting the film. Jonathan Abrams penned the script. Adam Goodman, Matt Skiena, Tim Moore and Jessica Meier will produce.
The pic is set during a murder trial where one of the jurors slowly realizes he killed the victim in a reckless-driving accident and tries to save the defendant without incriminating himself. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell will exec produce.
In typical Eastwood fashion, the Oscar winner had been weighing several scripts and in recent months zeroed in on Juror #2. He began having talks with A-list talent to star, finally landing on Hoult as the...

The origin story of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, the pioneering comedians whose 1978 film Up in Smoke has transcended cult status, is getting its own big screen treatment.
Todd Lieberman’s Hidden Pictures is partnering with Marin and Chong, Underground, and Five All in the Fifth Entertainment on a feature biopic about the comedy duo.
Cheech and Chong came to prominence in the ’70s and ’80s, becoming synonymous with stoner culture by riffing on and lifting up the counterculture of the time, from hippies to (of course) cannabis. Their combined output included successful stand-up shows, comedy albums, and low-budget feature films, including Up in Smoke, Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie (1980) and Nice Dreams (1981).

The Daniels are already in the universe where they’re Oscar winners – now they’re journeying to the “Star Wars” galaxy. The “Everything Everywhere All at Once” filmmakers have directed at least one episode of the upcoming “Star Wars” Disney+ series “Skeleton Crew,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

IndieWire has reached out to Lucasfilm, which said there was “no additional info to share at this point.”

ABC is headed to the highest court in the land with its latest piece of development.
The network has ordered a pilot for a drama titled Judgement, from sibling studio 20th Television and writer Joey Falco (The CW’s Charmed). The self-described legal soap will center on a potential Supreme Court justice in the near future — while also exploring the candidate’s complicated present-day life.
The project’s logline reads, “Fifteen years from now, a woman being vetted for a Supreme Court seat recounts her experience at a prominent D.C. law firm in 2023, where the only thing more controversial than the cases was her messy love life, caught between two feuding brothers. Now, with a Supreme Court seat on the line, all of her darkest secrets are at risk of coming out, threatening her nomination, her reputation, and her marriage.”

Exclusive: 93-year-old Oscar nominee June Squibb (Nebraska) has found her first, long overdue leading role in Thelma, an upcoming “action” comedy written and directed by Josh Margolin, which has wrapped production. The actress is joined in the ensemble by Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus), Richard Roundtree (Shaft), Parker Posey (The Staircase), Clark Gregg (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange).
Margolin’s first feature, based on a real-life experience involving his grandmother, is (half-jokingly) billed as Nebraska meets Mission: Impossible. It centers on 90-year-old grandmother Thelma Post (Squibb), who gets duped by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson and sets out on a uniquely treacherous quest to reclaim what was taken from her.
Zoë Worth, a longtime collaborator of Margolin’s, and producing partner Chris Kaye started developing Thelma after reading an early draft in their writer’s group, Rock & Roll Universe. The film will be their first produced together.
