XYZ Films knows a good thing when they see it, and that’s why the studio preemptively purchased the U.S. rights to Skyline: Warpath, a sequel in the Skyline universe starring Iko Uwais and Scott Adkins. Liam O’Donnell (Beyond Skyline) directs the threequel from his own script, with filming taking place in Indonesia. You can check out Uwais and Adkins in the first-look images from Skyline: Warpath above and below.
Joining Uwais and Adkins and cast members are Louis Mandylor, Randall J. Bacon, and Yayan Ruhain.
According to XYZ, the story for Skyline: Warpath picks up five years after Beyond Skyline. The plot “follows Sua (Uwais) as he leads The Resistance against the aliens. When he discovers the powerful alien Radial Gauntlet, he must deal with both the corrupt Eric (Adkins) and the army of alien invaders.”

From absurd dashcam footage to amusing cat videos, it’s pretty safe to assume that the vast majority of real-world recordings are completely banal in nature – so why is it that Found Footage movies are almost exclusively associated with the horror genre? If you really think about it, we should have seen major Found Footage entries in pretty much every single genre by now, and yet filmmakers still insist on trying to make the next Blair Witch Project year after year.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for Pov horror flicks, but I also enjoy a nice little palate cleanser every now and then. That’s why I appreciate rare exceptions like Dean Israelite’s Project Almanac, a sci-fi Found Footage romp that takes advantage of subjective filmmaking in an admirable attempt at updating age-old time travel tropes for a new generation.

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Night of the Demon
Not to be confused with the 1957 film of the same name (also on Screambox), 1980’s Night of the Demon is an unforgettable Bigfoot experience. It’s no surprise that the gory exploitation flick was prosecuted as a “video nasty” by the British Board of Film Classification upon its initial release. It’s best remembered for a scene in which Bigfoot rips off a guy’s manhood — and that’s not even the most outrageous death scene!
The cheesefest plays like an early slasher, but instead of a masked killer lurking in the woods, it’s a guy in a cheap gorilla costume.

Judging from the marketing of The Tutor, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the film for a contemporary queer update of a film like The Crush (1993). While not exclusively the purview of the 90s, a film like The Crush – in which an underage “sexpot” with a malicious streak ensnares an older man in her web of sexual intrigue – prospered in the era of Erotic Thrillers, Dtv and Vcrs.
Films in which adults are tempted into sexual relationships with minors are considered taboo for mainstream contemporary audiences. This is why the marketing of The Tutor was intriguing: the trailer suggests that rich, privileged teen Jackson (Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp) unfairly accuses his working class tutor Ethan (Garrett Hedlund) of improper behaviour. The young man then begins to stalk and effectively ruin the life of the older man, jeopardizing his reputation and the status of his relationship with pregnant girlfriend, Annie (Victoria Justice...

"The Tutor" shows Noah Schnapp as you've never seen him before. In the new movie's trailer, which dropped on March 1, the "Stranger Things" star plays a billionaire's son named Jackson, and he needs a tutor. Garrett Hedlund's character, Ethan, takes the job, where he'll get paid $2,500 a day to help Jackson. However, the wealthy family's many secrets - why are they so rich? - and strange interactions give Ethan an eerie feeling.
Soon, he thinks Jackson is "obsessed" with him. Then Jackson accuses Ethan of assaulting him and leaving deep bruises. But Ethan is sure that Jackson did it to himself and is just screwing with the tutor and his family for some sick reason.
"The Tutor" marks Schnapp's first film appearance since 2020, when he acted in "Hubie Halloween" and "Waiting For Anya." Right now, the actor is gearing up to film the fifth...

Redbox is releasing its first-ever “original” title this month: “Benjamin,” an R-rated dark comedy directed by and starring Bob Saget about a family dealing with a teen’s drug addiction.
The DVD-rental kiosk operator is calling Saget’s indie film a “Redbox Original.” What that means: Redbox has rights to an exclusive 90-day window on “Benjamin,” to be available starting April 23, both to rent at its network of U.S. kiosks and to rent or purchase through its Redbox On Demand streaming service.
In “Benjamin,” a family calls an intervention via Facebook for Saget’s on-screen son, Benjamin (Max Burkholder), a 15-year-old they suspect of having a drug habit. It soon becomes clear that those confronting Benjamin’s problems have many problems of their own.
In addition to Saget, the cast of “Benjamin” includes Rob Corddry, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kevin Pollak, Peri Gilpin, Dave Foley, Cheri Oteri, Max Burkholder, Clara Mamet,...

It has been over seven years since a Skyline movie has been released. The follow-up film is titled Beyond Skyline. Writer Liam O'Donnell has penned both films, which feature an alien invasion force. This time, a Los Angeles detective is searching for his son, on an alien spaceship. Set for a United States release this December, a new clip has been released - via Vertical Entertainment. The clip is titled "Things Are Looking Up" and it can be found here. The clip shows Mark (Frank Grillo). He is holding his child, while evading alien forces. It looks like he has at least one alien friend as he arms himself, through a strange opening. The escape is next, if he can only find a way out. Beyond Skyline hosts a large cast. Outside of Frank Grillo of The Purge: Election Year (2016) fame, this sci-fi title also stars: Bojana Novakovic (Drag Me to Hell...

Seven years after the release of Skyline, a belated sequel to the alien invasion tale is about to arrive...and it's extremely good.
DVD & Bluray
Whilst the first Skyline movie, released back in 2010, made a decent profit at the box office (almost $80 million from a $10 million-ish budget), the majority of the reviews dished out to the sci-fi yarn were not exactly kind. With 15% on Rt and a current 4.4% from users on IMDb, the film has often received widespread derision from both critics and general audiences alike.

You may remember back in 2010 an alien invasion movie named Skyline hit cinemas across the globe. The marketing for the film was exception with beautiful blue neon lights rising from to the sky as aliens seemingly sucked our planet of all the nutrients it needed? Remember?
You may also remember that the film was complete rubbish! It felt claustrophobic, dull and un-engaging. In fact at the time, I felt so strongly about it that I wrote a piece (which I’d never normally do) ripping the movie to pieces. The post may as well have been called ‘Why I hated Skyline’. I haven’t seen the movie since and in those seven years the memory of why i hated it so much has faded which can only be a good thing. I do seem to remember a moment where and F-22 fighter plane rolls over a person...

Have any plans for moviegoing this weekend? I regret to inform that there isn't much new of note to choose from unless you hit the theaters that show limited releases. Though the Divergent Series has performed respectably at the box office it never remotely reached what it was going for: being the new Hunger Games in terms of loot and broad cultural reach. And interest does seem to be dwindling. The super unwieldy title of the third effort is The Divergent Series: Allegiant and it's sometimes called Allegiant - Part 1 (2016) -- at least according to IMDb. Strangely the fourth film is not called Part 2 but The Divergent Series: Ascendance. So perhaps even the studio has lost enough interest that no one is in charge of the details.

Summit Entertainment already rolled out the barnstorming first trailer for The Divergent Series: Allegiant little over a month ago, though the studio is ensuring that Robert Schwentke’s threequel remains firmly on our collective radar as we enter the holiday season.
Putting the bond between Tris and Four – Shailene Woodley and Theo James, respectively – to the sword, today’s brand new one-sheets paint a dramatic scene between the lovestruck pair, who are forced to venture beyond the towering walls of post-apocalyptic Chicago in search of the elusive Bureau of Genetic Welfare.
More News From The Web
With the core four powers of Dauntless, Amity, Erudite and Abnegation beginning to question their own place in the city, Woodley and James’ core characters find themselves on the run once again from Kate Winslet’s power-mongering Jeanine and the rest of the Erudites, and the aforementioned first trailer embraced its Ya tropes with two open arms.

When you get to a certain point in a series, it sometimes becomes difficult to know exactly what you’re going to use to hype the film, and try to draw people in. Allegiant, which now wants to be called The Divergent Series: Allegiant, is in a strange place in the story, which makes this all the more difficult. The first two films covered a lot of ground, and gave us our twist end.
Now Tris and Four need to venture outside the wall, which is obviously the mystery to end all mysteries, so what’s a trailer to do? We don’t want to give away much about what’s out there, but if we don’t show anything beyond the wall, we’ve got nothing to show.

God help me, I liked The Zac Efron DJ Movie. A kind of variation on Saturday Night Fever set in the world of electronica, the film follows a young disc jockey torn between two worlds — with ambition and romance on the one side, and his loyal, scrappy friends on the other. It’s all big, dumb, broad strokes, with plot points visible from miles away. But it works where it matters: The music is fantastic, and the film invests you in its central relationship.Somewhat surprisingly, that relationship is not between aspiring DJ Cole Carter (Efron) and Sophie (Emily Ratajkowski), the beautiful Stanford dropout he falls for one night. Nor is it between Cole and his best pal, Mason (Jonny Weston, terrific), a wild-eyed free spirit always looking for an angle, or his other friends, actor–drug dealer Ollie (Shiloh Fernandez) and Squirrel (Alex Shaffer, in the Turtle role). Instead,...

We Are Your Friends presents a world populated by sex-and-cash-and-booze-crazed twenty-somethings who live to hear electronic music and dance the night away. Zach Effron stars as Cole, an aspiring “laptop DJ” in the San Fernando Valley. Cole has a soulless day job working for a sleazy predatory loan outfit headed by John Bernthal. Along with his three pals – aspiring actor/drug dealer Ollie (Shiloh Fernandez), loudmouth Mason (Jonny Weston), and thoughtful Squirrel (Alex Shaffer) – Cole spends his evenings promoting parties, spinning music, and ingesting drugs. A friendship develops between Cole and bigshot DJ James Reed (Wes Bentley), a fallen former ‘superstar’ of laptop DJ-ing, who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated when Cole falls for James’ bored younger girlfriend/assistant Sophie (Emily Rataikowski). Along the way, there are more drugs, tragedies, and romances that sizzle and fizzle.
On the surface, We Are Your Friends has an authentic feel.

Zac Efron is no stranger to movie musicals, but We Are Your Friends is a totally different beast: It's a movie about music—and it's definitely not kid-friendly. Efron plays Cole Carter, an aspiring DJ with dreams of making it big in the Edm (electronic dance music) world. A successful but troubled DJ, played by Wes Bentley, takes Efron under his wing, but things get tricky when the mentee falls for the mentor's girlfriend, played by Emily Ratajkowski. Efron is also challenged by his ties to his childhood crew-turned-collaborates—played by Jonny Weston, Shiloh Fernandez and Alex Shaffer. We Are Your Friends is a drama with flares of romance and comedy, and for those not up on the world of Edm,...

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a movie suffering from a more devastating identity crisis this year than Max Joseph’s We Are Your Friends - an inspirational story looking to capitalize on society’s current obsession with “Electronic Dance Music.” You’d think it’d be a poor man’s Entourage story, where sexy Zac Efron turns rags to riches by mastering GarageBand’s loop feature, but if that’s your assumption, you’re Deathly wrong.
Joseph and co-writer Meaghan Oppenheimer are all over the map with their sloppy attempt to dissect the house DJ culture, and even more egregious is their failure to inspire vocal individuality in the minds of young onlookers. It’s a movie that’s supposed to get your ambitious drive pumping, yet continually finds itself in need of resuscitation by any means possible (aka the objectification of Emily Ratajkowski). What can I say: eat,...

Will "We Are Your Friends" be the cherry on top of what has overall been a pretty lousy summer for Warner Bros.? The electronic music scene coming-of-age story doesn't have much buzz at the moment, as no one really asked to see a Zac Efron movie about a hunky DJ trying to make it. But WB is still gonna try and put asses in the seats. And so, here are seven clips from the upcoming movie. Wes Bentley, Emily Ratajkowski, Jonny Weston, Shiloh Fernandez and Jon Bernthal all co-star in the flick about Cole, a DJ who wants more out of life, and strives to make it with his skills as a beatmaker and knob-twiddler. Here's the official synopsis: “We Are Your Friends” is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends...

Before rubbing shoulders with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for Paramount’s Baywatch movie, Zac Efron will topline Max Joesph’s We Are Your Friends as an aspiring DJ who wants nothing more than a shot at the limelight. In today’s series of clips from Warner Bros., we see the obstacles that Efron’s Cole will have to overcome in his would-be path to stardom, as our Edm prodigy is confronted with personal issues, emotional struggles and professional setbacks.
Arriving ahead of the film’s debut in little over a week’s time, the pulse-pounding footage focuses more on stylish editing and energetic music than character drama. That’s not to say that these really rather hollow clips are indicative of Joesph’s final product – there’s only so much you can cram into minute-long teasers, after all – but we’re still skeptical about the core story of We Are Your Friends.

Warner Bros.’ all-new trailer for upcoming Edm-centric drama We Are Your Friends may not contain anything novel in the storytelling department, but we’d be damned if it doesn’t get our pulse pounding.
Featuring a cross-section of the opulent Hollywood nightlife, the footage centers around Zac Efron’s Cole, a would-be DJ who struggles to find a foothold in the hyper-competitive musical scene. Despite all the praise heaped on it on release, I was never really a fan of Josh Tranks found-footage superhero movie Chronicle. So when Project Almanac was initially announced as a “found-footage time travel movie” I was less than enthusiastic. Imagine my surprise then when the film turned out to not only be a fantastic time travel movie but also one of the best found-footage films Ever made. For me it’s even better than the grand-daddy of them all, The Blair Witch Project.
Project Almanac tells the story of David (Johnny Weston), a brilliant high school student whose skills get him a place at MIT; however a lack of funds means that he can’t attend the only school that will push him academically.
