It has been a Mississippi minute since viewers of the Katori Hill-created P-Valley have enjoyed the Starz drama gracing their TV screens on a Sunday night at 10.
With the show's last episode of P-Valley Season 2 airing on August 14, 2022, its absence has left a big hole in the hearts of committed viewers.
P-Valley's time away from the silver screen is thanks to a lawsuit claiming that P-Valley's premise was taken from another creative in the industry, in addition to the WGA and SAG strikes.
Since so much time has passed, a refresher on how Season 2 ended is a great way to gear up for the Season 3 shenanigans of the workers and regulars at The Pynk -- a strip and dance club in the Mississippi delta.
We've got everything you need to know right below.
How Did P-Valley Season 2 End?

Tyler Perry has wrapped production on the third movie in his four-picture deal with Amazon MGM Studios, a drama led by “P-Valley” and “Mea Culpa” star Shannon Thornton and “Run The World’s” Tosin Morohunfola.
Perry wrote, directed and produced the film, which recently wrapped filming on location in Colorado and at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta under the working title “Joy Ridge.”
“Amidst the picturesque landscapes of Colorado, Joy (Thornton) finds herself on a holiday trip with a man she envisions as ‘the one,” the film’s official logline reads. “However, her journey takes an enchanting turn as she stumbles upon someone who might just redefine her notions about the life she once knew back home.”
Tyler Perry Studios executives Angi Bones and Will Areu produced the film alongside Perry, who has now announced three of the movies in the four-picture deal he inked with Amazon in November 2022. Last June,...

A new Tyler Perry legal thriller, "Mea Culpa," has quickly climbed up the Netflix global Top 10 charts despite being poorly received by critics. There's an absurdist streak in the story where almost nothing makes much sense, leaning hard into exaggerated and predictable plot progressions that feel unrealistic from start to finish. Perhaps this willful absurdity contributes to the guilty pleasure of it all, shooting "Mea Culpa" to the top of the streaming charts, where it's sitting at number one as of this writing.
Part sleazy erotic thriller, part relationship drama, "Mea Culpa" centers on criminal defense attorney Mea Harper (Kelly Rowland), who needs to take on a case involving artist Zyair Malloy (Trevante Rhodes) and his deceased girlfriend Hydie (María Gabriela González). Although there are reasons to believe that Zyair is guilty of murdering Hydie, Mea's increasing attraction to her client further complicates matters, despite her dedication to uncovering the truth.

Kelly Rowland is on a press tour promoting her Netflix film Mea Culpa and was asked about Beyoncé’s new country album and the possibility of a Destiny’s Child reunion.
Rowland and her Mea Culpa co-star Trevante Rhodes stopped by radio station V-103 Atlanta for an interview on The Big Tigger Morning Show with Jazzy McBee to talk about their film. However, things turned awkward when the show’s host asked about Beyoncé’s music.
“Your sis just dropped a whole new couple of songs, and it’s my understanding that Renaissance II may or may not be country-based, and then there’s a rumor going around that Renaissance III may be, either rock-based or a DC reunion,” Big Tigger asked.
Rowland replied with a wink, “That is her business to talk about, not mine.”
Jazzy McBee intervened and said, “And I know that you all are tired of answering those questions,...

Kelly Rowland stars as a defense lawyer whose relationship with a client goes from professional to personal in Netflix’s Mea Culpa from writer/director Tyler Perry. The two-minute trailer shows Rowland taking on a murder case and learning too late that a snake is never violent while it’s stalking its prey.
The film also stars Trevante Rhodes, Nick Sagar, Sean Sagar, RonReaco Lee, and Shannon Thornton.
“When criminal defense attorney Mea Harper (Rowland) takes on the murder case of artist Zyair Malloy (Rhodes), the truth isn’t as obvious as it seems,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “While she tries to determine the innocence or guilt of her cagy-yet-seductive client, it is uncovered that everyone is guilty of something. Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa explores what happens when burning desire takes hold and things get hot… and dangerous.”
Perry, Rowland, Dianne Ashford, Will Areu, and Angi Bones serve as producers.

"Please - this is my life and they're trying to ruin me." Netflix has revealed the full official trailer for Tyler Perry's next film titled Mea Culpa, about a defense attorney's steamy affair. Set for streaming on Netflix starting in February, where Perry still has a deal and has been releasing most of recent films - including A Jazzman's Blues before this one. A criminal defense attorney takes on the case of a seductive artist accused of murdering his girlfriend, but when burning desire takes hold things get hot... and dangerous. Starring Kelly Rowland as Mea Harper, with Trevante Rhodes, Nick Sagar, Sean Sagar, RonReaco Lee, and Shannon Thornton. The tagline should just be "everyone is guilty of something", which is a strange way to deal with injustice but hey maybe it makes for some steady movies. So many good lines in here: "a snake is never violent when stalking their prey.

There’s no show quite like “P-Valley.” Starz’s Mississippi-set crime drama may have flown under the awards radar after its first season, but its blend of film noir tension and soap opera theatrics — all set in the world of a small-town strip club called “The Pynk” — is more than deserving of its flowers.
Series creator Katori Hall developed the show for television based on her less shyly-named play “Pussy Valley.” But that’s a tidbit easy to forget when watching. This is a story that feels skillfully designed for the medium of television, where the eclectic cast of characters have room to grow and bounce off one another across arcs and seasons. “P-Valley” isn’t recognized enough for having one of the most colorful and talented ensembles on television: a team which includes Nicco Annan as the non-binary club owner Uncle Clifford; Brandee Evans as veteran dancer Mercedes; Elarica Johnson...

Add another Starz series to the list of shows suspended as a result of the writers strike.
P-Valley has postponed its production in Atlanta.
Deadline understands that the series had recently finished its writers room for season three but production had not started.
Creator and showrunner Katori Hall said, “We will not be filming until a fair deal is reached”. We hear that filming had not started but Hall’s comments refer to the writers room.
“Like many of my fellow showrunners, I feel as though my writing and producing duties are inextricably linked,” she added, “I am also a member of the DGA whose AMPTP contract begins negotiations today. Overlapping issues abound and we shall see how these stories end. As a writer I strike with a sense of radical dignity — that our work must be valued for the magic it is.”

Starz is letting the doors of the Pynk swing wide again by ordering a third season of the crime-related drama. P-Valley Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes produced by Lionsgate. The show hails from Katori Hall, who created, showruns, and executive produces the series. P-Valley takes place in the Pynk, a strip club in the Mississippi Delta in the American South. Often described as a neo-noir, P-Valley is a character-driven thriller led by four women: Brandee Evans as seasoned stripper Mercedes, Elarica Johnson as newcomer Autumn Night, Shannon Thornton as Miss Mississippi, and Skylar Joy as Gidget.
In Season 2, P-Valley presented a timely twist by seeing the Pynk struggle to remain in the game during the pandemic. Each episode built on a war for control of the club, with new faces adding plenty of spice to an already hot mix of personalities. Intimate and bold, P-Valley continues to explore the lives of the main cast,...

We're way beyond the days of calling "P-Valley" a TV series just about strippers. Katori Hall's acclaimed Starz drama reached breakout success after its first season aired in the summer of 2020, largely because it created a raw yet empowering space for strip-club culture to be seen in a way that's rarely displayed on television. But the show accomplished so much more than that in season two.
"P-Valley" took braver steps with its second installment to depict issues far too complex to be contained inside a small-town, neon-lit club, aka The Pynk - including poverty, politics, sexual identity, systemic racism, domestic violence, misogyny, and a pandemic. "The second season is crafted better in terms of dramatic construction," Hall tells Popsugar. "That feeling of, 'Oh my God, what's going to happen next?' Being overwhelmed, I think, is very much a part of the feeling of season two."

A series revolving around a down and dirty strip club in the Mississippi Delta isn’t standard hit TV show fare. But Tony-nominated and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Katori Hall didn’t branch out from the stage to television to play by the rules. When her edgy TV series “P-Valley” debuted on Starz two years ago, circumstances were not ideal. The world was battling Covid plus social protests prompted by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery were erupting all over the nation. In Season 2, those real-world events figure prominently as the show deftly avoids a sophomore slump and rises to its occasion.
Although ostensibly about mysterious stranger Hailey/Autumn Knight (British actress Elarica Johnson) arriving in the small fictional town of Chucalissa and making ends meet as a stripper, it’s “P-Valley’s” initial surrounding players who catapulted the show to cult status. "I am trying my best to keep the f*cking water out the boat, Mercedes."
With the abrupt exit of folks like Miss Mississippi (Shannon Thornton), the Pynk struggles to keep its doors open as the pandemic sweeps through the south. In an exclusive sneak peek at the premiere episode, titled "Pussyland," Mercedes (Brandee Evans) and Hailey (Elarica Johnson) argue over recruiting new dancers to revive the strip club's reputation. "You gon' up and have auditions after I told you explicitly not to - really, b*tch?," Mercedes questions Hailey in the clip, to which she says: "I'm trying to make the best decisions for the club.

Peacock has shared the first look at its new upcoming comedy series “Killing It,” streaming this April.
Created by “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” producers Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici, “Killing It” stars Craig Robinson as Craig, a man who competes in a state-sponsored python hunt in his quest to achieve the American Dream. The series co-stars Stephanie Nogueras as Craig’s ex-wife Camille, Jet Miller as his pre-teen daughter Vanessa and Rell Battle as his younger brother Isaiah. Claudia O’Doherty, Scott Macarthur and Wyatt Walter round out the cast.
“We love all the ambitious, challenging, thematically-rich series that populate the current peak-tv landscape,” said Goor in a statement. “We also love jokes. So, we tried to make a show that could deliver both. We wanted ‘Killing It’ to explore America’s quasi-religious obsession with entrepreneurship and wealth, and we also wanted it to be funny. Really, really funny. Plus, we wanted it to have big snakes.

Starz is expanding the crew at The Pynk as Katori Hall’s P-Valley adds Psalms Salazar (Girl Lost: A Hollywood Thriller) and Gail Bean (Paradise Lost) to the Season 2 cast. They will join returning cast members Nicco Annan, Elarica Johnson, Brandee Evans, Shannon Thornton, Parker Sawyers and more.
Based on Hall’s play Pussy Valley, P-Valley Season 2 returns to the Mississippi Delta where lies an oasis of grit and glitter in a rough patch of human existence where beauty can be hard to find. This Southern-fried, hour-long drama tells the kaleidoscopic story of a “little strip club that could” and the big characters who come through its doors — the hopeful, the lost, the broken, the ballers, the beautiful and the damned. Trap music meets film noir in this lyrical and atmospheric series that dares to ask what happens when small-town folk dream beyond the boundaries of the Piggly Wiggly and the pawnshop.

When we think of strippers, we’re pretty quick to judge. Still, even in this day of #MeToo and TimesUp, of expanding sex workers’ rights and pole dancing classes available for suburban moms, we see a stripper’s outfit and immediately think we know all about them. But displaying bodies doesn’t have to be innately sexual. In fact, it can be powerful and provocative in ways that don’t have to do with sex at all. Costume designers Rita McGhee and Alita Bailey knew from the get-go that creating the looks for Starz’s “P-Valley”—a show that brings empathy, sincerity and honesty to the story we all think we know—was going to be a welcome challenge rooted not in sex, but in female power.
“For us, it was about learning the story, learning who these women are, their characters and diving into that world,” McGhee said in a recent interview with IndieWire.

The Mississippi Delta is the fictional home of “P-Valley,” a visually-stunning new drama series that debuted this past summer on Starz. Series creator Katori Hall recently joined our Gold Derby Meet the Experts TV Showrunners panel to discuss the origins of the program (watch the exclusive video interview above). The Memphis native reveals, “I just wanted to represent home. I love being a Southerner. I love being a Black woman. And part of my coming-of-age experience was going to strip clubs, and so I saw these women as superheroes and as athletes. I wanted to lift this veil on this world that a lot of people didn’t really know deeply about.”
The show is centered around the lives of employees of strip club The Pynk. It stars Brandee Evans, Nicco Annan, Shannon Thornton, Elarica Johnson, Tyler Lepley and Isaiah Washington. Critical reviews have referenced its “Southern Gothic” atmosphere and universally praised the acting,...

"Let that stage be your stepping stone, not your tombstone." That's Uncle Clifford's number-one rule at The Pynk, a strip club off exit 2-9 in the fictional town of Chucalissa, Ms, that serves as the hub for Starz's breakout series P-Valley. Adapted from Katori Hall's stage play P*ssy Valley, this show offers a pan-seared view of the lives of strippers in the Dirty Delta. Hall serves as creator and showrunner of the hour-long drama that humanizes sexworkers through kaleidoscopic stories. The show is artivism at its best: an entertaining view of the Southern Black experience while honing in on the various nuances that exist within the backstories of those who occupy the same space - domestic violence, closeted gay men, racism, politricks, gentrification and, colorism.
Colorism, or shadeism, is discrimination within the same ethnic group based on your complexion. Individuals are treated differently because of the cultural meanings...
