TV host Rylan has suggested he was mistreated behind the scenes on The X Factor.
The TV star appeared as a contestant on the ninth series of the ITV talent show in 2012, during which he defeated the odds to finish fifth.
He started out being considered that year’s “joke” contestant, but overcame jibes from judge Gary Barlow to finish fifth in the quarter-final. That year’s series was won by James Arthur.
In recent years, some ex-contestants on the series, which was oficially cancelled by ITV in 2021 after 17 years on air, have claimed they were mistreated by producers when the cameras weren’t rolling.
These allegations will be explored in a new documentary, which is set to be broadcast in 2023.
In a new interview with The Independent, Rylan alleges that “there was one massive incident” he went through during his time on the series.

Has NBC’s long-running reality TV show “America’s Got Talent” found its next superstar? After 18-year-old Australian dancer Max Ostler performed his solo lyrical piece on the big stage during the June 14 episode, Simon Cowell called him the “Harry Styles of dance.” Those are big words indeed from the influential reality judge, whose British TV show “The X Factor” helped put Styles on the map in 2010 with his boy band One Direction.
Donning a white tank top, Max revealed that his dream in life is to be the “most sought-out choreographer and dancer in the world.” You could hear a pin drop during his solo piece, which was set to “Falling Like The Stars” by James Arthur, as the entire audience watched his every move. “I’ve always faced self doubt where I’ve gone through stages where I think, I don’t know if this is for me,” the talented teenager stated.

After months of auditioning and competing, the first semifinals of America’s Got Talent season twelve is about to begin. The competition is getting intense. Will the acts remain calm under pressure? Singer Yoli Mayor started things off with Say You Won’t Let Go by James Arthur. The Miami native wowed the Dolby Theater audience with her stunning voice. I thought she sounded a bit off key, but that’s just me. Simon, however, thought the performance was perfect and that he is glad to see the real Yoli return. Magician Eric Jones then took to the stage and did some close

Liam Payne and Niall Horan were up to their old One Direction tricks, playing around together in Indiana, where they both performed on Friday.
The pair documented the partial reunion on their Instagram Stories. They were in the midwest for the Zpl Birthday Bash, which also featured Flo Rida, Fifth Harmony, James Arthur and Aaron Carter.
“Look who I found,” Payne teases in selfie mode before twisting his phone to reveal Horan, who also had his phone at the ready. “What’s up?” he asks his smiling bandmate in the post.

No one can predict how any of us will respond to a dire medical diagnosis, but James Arthur Ragan met the challenge with exceptional grace and fortitude. He was a rising tennis star on the international circuit when, at age 13, he learned he had osteosarcoma, a rare and incurable form of bone cancer. The next year, after the first of many surgeries, he traded the tennis court for the golf course, and excelled in that sport, too. As the title of an intimate documentary portrait indicates, Ragan didn’t live long beyond his teens, but Until 20 makes clear that...

James Arthur Baldwin died from stomach cancer in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France, on this day, December 1, 1987. He would have been 91 years young this year, were he still alive today. A scripted feature film on the life of James Baldwin doesn't exist, unbelievably. There've been documentaries like "The Price of a Ticket," but no biopics I'm aware of, or if one has even been attempted. The only project I know with certainty that's currently in development is actually a documentary from Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck. Adele says she would be open to doing X Factor duets - but only if the finalists are not terrible.
The 'Hello' singer told Rickie, Melvin and Charlie on Kiss FM that she was a big fan of Ella Henderson and would have loved to have sung with her.
Adele's new album 25: Everything you need to know, from release date to collaborations
Henderson was eliminated in sixth place in the 2012 series, after a sing-off with eventual winner James Arthur.
"It would have to depend on who's in the final," said Adele. "It depends who's in it. If they're rubbish, then no, I won't.
"There was Ella Henderson, I used to like. But she didn't make it at the time. I mean, I was pregnant so I wouldn't have done it. But like, if she was in it this year and she was in the final, I would probably do it with her.

The X Factor knows how to create drama. From the blast of 'O Fortuna' as Simon Cowell and his buddies enter the stage, to former voiceover man Peter Dickson hamming it up, they've got the atmosphere nailed.
One of the most exciting elements of the show will always be the big Sunday night eliminations, especially if the dreaded Deadlock comes into play. Most of the time, the judges get it right, but sometimes there are downright shocks. Here are the biggest to date, brought to you in association with TalkTalk's new Bopheads app:
1. Laura White (series 5)
Wigan lass Laura was tipped for X Factor success in 2008's early stages, but found herself in a tough girls group with the public's favourite indie fairy Diana Vickers and future victor Alexandra Burke. Even so, no-one expected her to leave as early as the fifth week, especially with Ricky Gervais lookalike Daniel Evans still knocking around.

Ever get a feeling of déjà vu while you're watching The X Factor? That's because after 11 series and hundreds of contestants, the live shows have seen a whopping 728 tracks performed so far. But like a wedding DJ reaching for his failsafe party anthems CD, the top five most popular songs have been dusted off and rolled out over 33 times between them.
Our geeky rules state that we're counting all live show performances and group songs, but not repeat performances from the same act in the same series.
=5. 'Feeling Good': 6 performances
Performed by: Beverley Trotman, Rachel Hylton, Stacey Solomon, James Arthur, Rebecca Ferguson, Andrea Faustini
Made famous by Nina Simone, this classic usually pops up in the traditional 'Big Band Week', and is a good excuse for an act to show off their sultry side. Stacey had a go with Michael Bublé in 2009, while Andrea tried out a more powerhouse version last year.
