Disney's The Little Mermaid Remake Has Officially Started Filming

Disney's The Little Mermaid Remake Has Officially Started Filming
Filming on the live-action remake of Disney's the Little Mermaid has officially begun according to star Javier Bardem. Like many big-budget movie projects, The Little Mermaid was supposed to start shooting last year, but the pandemic shut down production before cameras could begin rolling. It was previously reported that filming was scheduled to begin this month, and while speaking with the Columbian outlet El Tiempo, Bardem revealed that production is indeed underway with health and safety protocols in place.

From the interview, Here's what Javier Bardem said of his experience filming The Little Mermaid:

"Well, it's affecting because there's nothing more than being on the hotel, then go to work... From work to the hotel, because that's what should be done... All protocols are exhaustive, there's a lot of care when they're doing the tests every day, with the number of people on the set, which is considerably big.

Disney's The Little Mermaid Star Daveed Diggs Calls Sebastian the Hardest Role of His Life
After drawing praise for his role in the stage musical Hamilton, Daveed Diggs has found himself on the fast track to success in Hollywood. The actor is already headlining his own show Snowpiercer, and is also set to voice the role of the crab Sebastian in Disney's the Little Mermaid live-action reboot. Diggs recently spoke to Collider about the preparations he is putting into playing the talking crab, which are greater than anything he has done for any other role so far.

"I worked harder on Sebastian probably than I have for any role in my life. It's tricky. I wasn't sure, and this is also true of Layton. I tend to say yes to things when I feel like I can do it, but I'm actually not sure I'm the smart choice or the person naturally who should be doing it. That's true of Sebastian, for a lot of ways that are uncomfortable.

Disney's Predator Announcement Was Supposed to Be a Big Surprise Says Disappointed Director

Disney's Predator Announcement Was Supposed to Be a Big Surprise Says Disappointed Director
Some apologies may be in order, as 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg has now revealed that his involvement in Disney's Predator Reboot was supposed to be a surprise. The news of Trachtenberg helming a fifth sequel in the action sci-fi franchise broke a few days ago, and the filmmaker has now responded with some disappointment, as he had planned for his Predator movie to be a secret.

"This was meant to be a surprise. Been working on this for almost 4 years now. I am very sad that what we had in store for how you could discover this movie will no longer happen. It's a bummer. But also...Yay!"

So, once again the internet is the party pooper. While Dan Trachtenberg does not reveal his plan, it's likely that his take on Predator would have approached the marketing strategy in a similar way to that of Cloverfield and keep things mysterious.

New Predator Movie Is Happening at Disney with 10 Cloverfield Lane Director

New Predator Movie Is Happening at Disney with 10 Cloverfield Lane Director
The Predator franchise is set to continue at Disney, with 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg on board to helm the fifth installment. The future of Predator has been in flux since the rights to the popular sci-fi action franchise were recently gained by The Walt Disney Company as part of their acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Well, not only do we now know that the studio plans to resume the adventures of the extra-terrestrial trophy hunter, but that they have also found the ideal director to do Disney's Predator reboot.

While Dan Trachtenberg may not have many movies in his back catalogue, his 2016 sci-fi horror hit 10 Cloverfield Lane, which follows a young woman who is held in a fallout shelter after the world is affected by a widespread chemical attack, proved that he is able to do a whole lot with just one setting and a minimal cast.
