Chris Miller will take the reins of NBC’s venerable “Tonight Show,” stepping in as showrunner as the current one, Jamie Granet-Bederman, takes a step back.
Miller joins the program from “The Drew Barrymore Show,” where he served as one of the executive producers. He has ties to Fallon, having worked for Flower Films, the production company launched by Barrymore and her partner, Nancy Juvonen. Juvonen is Fallon’s wife, and she made some popular appearances on “Tonight” during the pandemic, when the show went into an “at home” production that featured its host and his family hunkering down away from the “Tonight” set at NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza headquarters.
Granet-Bederman is expected to focus on developing new projects for Fallon, who also has his own production company, Electric Hot Dog, which is one of the backers of the singing series “That’s My Jam.”

The showrunner is leaving, but the show must go on.
Staffers at CBS’ “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” aren’t sure who the next top producer will be at the program, according to three people familiar with the matter, with top producers ready to take their time to examine the needs of the show after the departure of Chris Licht, who has been executive producer of the late-night mainstay since 2016. Licht’s decision to take a new role as the CEO of CNN once Discovery closes its acquisition of WarnerMedia leaked this weekend, well before the executive was able to formally inform George Cheeks, CEO of Paramount Global’s CBS operations, or Shari Redstone, chairman of the company, according to one of these people.

ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has named Erin Irwin, Molly McNearney and Jennifer Sharron as executive producers. All three previously served as co-executive producers. Kimmel also continues as executive producer; Irwin, McNearney and Sharron fill the void left when former executive producer Sharon Hoffman left in January after a brief run.
“Erin, Molly and Jen are great producers who run what I believe is the best team in television,” Kimmel said. “I am very lucky to have them. This promotion is long overdue and well-deserved.”
All three are “Jimmy Kimmel Live” vets, and some even pre-date the ABC show with Kimmel. Irwin, for example, has worked with Kimmel for more than 23 years, starting as a producer on the pilot of “The Man Show” in 1998. She’s been producing “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for 17 years, starting as a supervising producer and then a co-executive producer, which she has held for ten years.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! executive producer Sharon Hoffman is exiting the late night show.
The news comes some seven months after the announcement of her hiring, then characterized as a rare shake-up atop the ABC show. Hoffman was said to be chosen in part because she had a background more firmly rooted in news, which was desirable given that late night — and Kimmel, in particular — had become increasingly political, a tonal shift that’s continued to pay dividends for Jkl. The show now regularly bests rival Jimmy Fallon’s decidedly lighter The Tonight Show in the ratings.
