The TV news correspondent whose description of decapitated infants and other atrocities from the Hamas attack on southern Israel went instantly viral pushed back Wednesday against questions around her reporting, saying she witnessed the atrocities “with my own eyes” and calling the reflexive doubt “sickening.”
Nicole Zedek was on the ground early this week for i24NEWS, an international 24-hour news television channel based in Tel Aviv. Her reports describing beheaded babies and children were immediately shared and widely discussed around the globe — including scrutiny and outright doubt, which she addressed Wednesday during an appearance on “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show.”
Zedek said she was grateful at first that her reporting had spread so quickly, “because people need to see those images and need to hear exactly what’s happening here on the ground in Israel.”

Clay Travis and Buck Sexton have been confirmed as the permanent replacements for longtime conservative talk radio fixture Rush Limbaugh.
The duo will take over the daytime slot June 21, with plans to preserve it as a bastion of right-wing talk, albeit from a younger perspective. The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show, syndicated by iHeartMedia’s Premiere Networks, will air from noon to 3 p.m. Et on hundreds of radio stations across the country.
Limbaugh died in February at age 70, after wielding considerable influence in conservative circles for decades. Gaining traction during the presidency of Bill Clinton, he pioneered a brand of talk radio that proved enormously lucrative but also contributed to the political divisions in the U.S. Former President Donald Trump joined a number of Republicans in paying tribute to Limbaugh upon his death, though some outside the conservative establishment did not mourn his loss.

Bill Maher’s live taping of HBO’s “Real Time” was interrupted Friday night by a pro-Trump protester in the audience who shouted at the host to stop “trashing our great president and our great country.”
The outburst came during a discussion about national security issues and Trump’s withdrawn nomination of Rep. John Ratcliffe to be director of national intelligence with right-wing radio host Buck Sexton, who quickly noted of the protester, “I do not know him, by the way.”
“I see you brought a guest,” Maher replied, before standing up behind the table where the panel remained seated. “This is not the first time I’ve had to go into the audience but we’ve got to get faster moving security people, I’m telling you.”

One day after Marianne Williamson’s bristled during a sharp exchange with Anderson Cooper on CNN, the Democratic presidential candidate who also got a feisty reception from the host of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher.
Maher had crowed about the booking early in the show (when he announced that “the candidate everyone wants to get” as a guest was waiting backstage) but then their interview got off to chippy start when Maher scoffed at the validity of spiritual psychotherapy just a heartbeat after Williamson had described it as the conceptual cornerstone of her 35-year writing and lecturing career.
“That sounds,” Maher said, “like Scientology.” Williamson was aghast: “How can you even say that?” Maher wobbled a bit but didn’t back off much. “It just sounds like it, I’m not saying it is. I’m just suspicious when something is based on one book. That always worries me.

The news that the charges against “Empire” star Jussie Smollett have been dropped drew strong reactions on both sides of the issue online Tuesday.
The official Twitter account of the “Empire” writers’ room celebrated the news, tweeting a photo of the news being announced and the message “See y’all Wednesday.” Others accused the actor and musician of calling in political favors in order to get the charges dropped, with some accusing former President Barack Obama of intervening on Smollett’s behalf. Another said that both Smollett and the Chicago police department had damaged their reputations during the investigation.

Rob Reiner, a director and longtime advocate for liberal Democratic causes in Hollywood, ripped into Robert De Niro for his “F— Trump” outburst at last Sunday’s Tony Awards, calling the foul-mouthed speech counterproductive.
“If you have any interest in trying to preserve the democracy, and put it in the hands of somebody who understands government, who isn’t self-dealing, who cares about this country and the people in this country, then you’re helping Trump,” Reiner said in an interview earlier this week on The Hill’s “Rising” TV show with co-hosts Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton.
“You’re helping Trump by saying ‘F— Trump’ because he can say, ‘Look at these people, these elitists,'” added Reiner, who defended De Niro’s right to share his opinion even as he found it tactically a mistake.

Samantha Bee is facing heavy criticism for calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless c–t” on “Full Frontal” Wednesday night.
“Let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices you feckless c–t!” Bee said in response to Ivanka not challenging her father’s immigration policies.
“He listens to you. Put on something tight and low cut and tell your father to f–king stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes,” she added.

As younger audiences’ list of TV, desktop, tablet, mobile, and social content options grow by the day, legacy and new media executives are bending backward and forward to earn their eyeballs.
On TV news, the youngest audience is around 58, higher than the 18-49 and 25-54 age demo sweet spot advertisers desire. On the high end, a variety of news networks’ audiences skew even older, hovering close to 70.
With the knowledge that getting younger is now a matter of survival from extinction, some of the biggest news channels, print outlets, and digital news sites have developed their own networks and features...
