Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brien excel in Saint Maud director Rose Glass’ sophomore feature. Here’s our review of Love Lies Bleeding.
If there was any concern or doubt that Rose Glass, the director of 2019’s Saint Maud, wasn’t the real deal, her new film puts all that to rest. Glass’ second feature, Love Lies Bleeding, is a haunting, pulpy affair about the whirlwind romance between a gym manager and an aspiring bodybuilder.
In a star-making turn, Katy O’Brian plays Jackie, who runs into Kristen Stewart’s Lou on her way to Las Vegas for a bodybuilding competition. Their chemistry is sizzling, but Lou’s troubled, criminally inclined family soon complicates their romance.
The cast is rounded out by Jena Malone, Dave Franco and Ed Harris, who sports a particularly impressive hair-do. In a lesser film such ridiculous, over-the-top hair extensions might be a distraction, but here they only add to the uneasy,...

Robert Eggers’ kind of film rarely lands him a bulky paycheck from Hollywood. The director is just three movies old and all of his films are rooted in historical folklore. Eggers is currently working with an ensemble cast of youngsters for his fourth film, Nosferatu. His fame began with the 2016 horror film, The Witch, which marked the debut of Anya Taylor-Joy in Hollywood. However, Eggers is not a big fan of his first film.
Robert Eggers hates his debut film, The Witch, starring Anya Taylor-Joy
Eggers did not blame Taylor-Joy or the other performances in the film, but revealed that he couldn’t bring his vision for the film onto the screen. He further revealed that it was only in his third film, The Northman, that he grasped the art of making the film he wanted to do.

Director Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse & The Northman) made a name for himself with The Witch, a film that most directors would be proud to have on their résumé, especially as their first feature-length production.
In the same vein, as artists in any discipline are often especially critical of their earlier work, Eggers also admitted that he did not want to watch this 2015 horror movie. The Witch, the full-length feature debut of the New York City-born director, turned out to be one of his incredible works. The story revolved around a family of New England Puritans in the 1630s.

After receiving positive reviews from critics and grossing $40 million, the film went on to become a critical and commercial success. Nonetheless, Eggers is the one who is unable to stand the movie, which starred Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, and Kate Dickie.

Robert Eggers’ upcoming remake of F.W. Murnau’s silent classic Nosferatu is one of the more highly anticipated horror movies of the year, and the lucky folks at CinemaCon got a look at an exclusive first look at the chilling production.
The first look at Nosferatu was suitably terrifying with a heavy gothic tone. Classic-looking tall, dark castles, scurrying rats, blood gushing from necks, and full-on bleak horror. The footage included looks at Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol) and Willem Dafoe (Poor Things) but sadly only featured quick glimpses of Count Orlock himself. Perhaps that’s for the best, but I can’t wait to see Bill Skarsgard (Boy Kills World) disappear into the character.

CinemaCon attendees Wednesday got a first look at Focus Features’ second film with Robert Eggers, Nosferatu, a dark and gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her which causes untold horror in its wake.
Introducing the footage, Focus chairman Peter Kujawski said, “This ain’t your father’s Nosferatu” and promised it will give “new meaning to the term Christmas feast when we open on December 25.”
In the footage, we see the terror and hysteria rampant in the village as various townsfolk shriek, “He is coming” after the young woman calls to him seemingly in a nighttime trance. “My dreams grow darker,” she says, and asks Willem Dafoe’s Professor Von Franz, “Does evil come from within us, or from beyond?”

CinemaCon 2024 is well underway and the latest film to be given the sneak peek treatment is Robert Eggers' "Nosferatu." The upcoming horror remake from the "Northman" director will star Bill Skarsgård as the titular vamp, alongside Lily Rose-Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and Willem Dafoe. Until now, there's been no footage from the film or trailers released, but after the Universal presentation at CinemaCon, that's all changed.
Following in the footsteps of Werner Herzog's 1979 effort "Nosferatu the Vampyre," Eggers' film will reinterpret F.W. Murnau's 1922 "Dracula" adaptation "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror." The director has promised a gothic horror movie that will actually scare audiences, which is exactly what we were hoping to hear. But the real test for "Nosferatu" will be whether it can succeed where so many modern vampire films have failed — namely, at the box office. Still, with Eggers at the helm, this surely won't be another "Last Voyage of the Demeter...

Robert Eggers shared his terrifying take on “Nosferatu,” offering up the atmospheric first look at his remake of the famous vampire film to theater owners at CinemaCon this week. In the trailer, Lily-Rose Depp, playing a devout young woman, prays earnestly by candlelight. “Come to me, come to me, hear my call,” she intones before a hand reaches out to grab her neck.
And we’re off, with Eggers’ camera sweeping across wintery villages, dilapidated castles filled with secrets, and rats scurrying across cobblestones, portending some kind of primeval force that’s about to cast a shadow over everything. The movie evokes the best of classic horror — it’s moody, unsettling and also eerily beautiful. But it’s not just artful. There’s also blood gushing from necks and gangs of stake-wielding villagers hoping to use folklore to battle these unseen forces.

Bill Skarsgård has become undead bloodsucker Count Orlok for the big screen.
Skarsgård leads Robert Eggers’ long-awaited “Nosferatu,” a reimagining of F. W. Murnau’s 1922 film. Skarsgård plays the titular villain, with Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter, the source of Orlok’s obsession. As Orlok tries to seduce her soul, Ellen’s husband Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult) fights to save his wife from turning to the dark side.
Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski said the film “definitely ain’t your father’s ‘Nosferatu,’ and [Eggers] will definitely bring new meaning to the phrase ‘Christmas feast.’”
The footage Focus premiered at CinemaCon (though not released online today) was as daring and intense as any film Eggers has made, complete with some chilling black and white sequences, a man biting the head off a pigeon, streets teeming with rats, and rooms engulfed in flames, not to mention a truly deafening, bone chilling score.

The show, which doesn’t shy away from showing the realities of teenage life, has grabbed a lot of attention. The season 2’s premiere drew a huge audience of 5.2 million viewers, making it the second most-watched show on HBO, just behind Game of Thrones (via Variety).

HBO has ordered a half-hour pilot episode starring, written and executive produced by Rachel Sennott (“Bottoms”).
The untitled comedy project’s logline promises “a codependent friend group reunion,” in which the friends “navigate how their time apart, goals and new relationships have changed them,” TheWrap has learned.
“Barry” alums Emma Barrie and Aida Rodgers will executive produce alongside the “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “Shiva Baby” star.
Sennott most recently starred as Pj, platonic other half to Ayo Edebiri’s Josie, in “Bottoms,” which she cowrote with director Emma Seligman. Seligman also directed Sennott in “Shiva Baby.”
Sennott also appeared alongside Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd in HBO’s “The Idol” as Leia. She starred as Alice in the A24 thriller-comedy, “Bodies Bodies Bodies.”
A graduate from NYU Tisch with a focus in acting, Sennott’s breakthrough performance came from Seligman’s “Shiva Baby,” originally a student film that was adapted into a full-length feature.

Warner Bros. released Greta Gerwig’s Barbie last summer, on July 21, 2023, and it became an instant pop culture phenomenon before going on to end the year as the No. 1 movie of the year thanks to a $1.445 billion dollar finish. While Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides immediately knew he would love Zendaya’s Chani ‘as long as he breathes’, the actor has had quite a history when it comes to finding love in real life. The Dune star has had quite a dating history ever since he broke into the scene with films like Interstellar and Call Me By Your Name.
While Chalamet has been dating Kylie Jenner for the past few months, he was in a highly publicized relationship with The Idol star Lily-Rose Depp. The couple had reportedly met while filming Netflix’s The King and had gotten cozy as early as 2018. One of the defining moments of their courtship was a viral photo of the two making out on a yacht, which Chalamet seems to be embarrassed about.

Javier Bardem is currently making headlines for his role of Stilgar in Dune: Part Two. The Denis Villeneuve directorial has been getting rave reviews with 94% on the Tomatometer. And one of the positives on the movie is how Bardem plays the fanatic leader of the Fremen, mentoring Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. But with as menacing and zealous his character is in the movie, he is quite the opposite in real life.
Javier Bardem in Dune: Part Two
Bardem broke into the silver screen early on when he was only six years old. Coming from a family that has long been part of the movie industry in Spain, and being the son of the popular Spanish actress, Pilar Bardem, the Skyfall actor initially did not want to become an actor. It wasn’t until his lead role Bigas Luna’s 1992 directorial film, Jamón Jamón, that he started taking acting more seriously.

Dune 2 Star Timothee Chalamet Movies Ranked As Per Rotten Tomatoes. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Timothee Chalamet is being lauded for his fantastic performance in Denis Villeneuve’s epic saga Dune 2. The film was released in the theatres on Friday, and it’s a visual treat for moviegoers. After her supporting role in HBO’s critically panned series The Idol, which was canceled after one season, Da’Vine Joy Randolph is now an Oscar nominee for her supporting role in The Holdovers. In an interview for Vanity Fair‘s Hollywood Issue, she was asked about the response to The Idol in light of the praise she’s received for the Alexander Payne film, specifically, “Does it sting?”
Randolph responded, “No, because I know what I did, and I’m very proud of what I did in the role that I created. How people respond and people’s feelings don’t have nothing to do with me. And I don’t have anything to do with contributing to that narrative either. So I just let it go. I enjoy my contribution.”

Even in a hit-or-miss "Saturday Night Live" episode, you can always count on the "Please Don't Destroy" guys to deliver a digital short that is decent at the very least. Such was the case with "Roast," a short where Dakota Johnson walks into the Pdd office and inexplicably starts roasting all three of the guys. She has some plausible deniability during the first two or three digs, but the moment she calls them "The Lonelier Island" — a reference to SNL's original digital short comedy trio whom the Pdd guys still live in the shadow of — the gloves come off.

"The opposing forces are formidable." Time to battle the Empire! Memento Films has revealed a brand new official trailer for The Empire, the strange French sci-fi film from filmmaker Bruno Dumont. We already posted a trailer for this last year when it was first unveiled. It will premiere at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival next month, perhaps because every other fest rejected it. Bruno Dumont's sci-fi The Empire (aka L'Empire) is set in a quiet fishing village on the Opal Coast in Northern France, and tells the story of a child who is so unique and peculiar it unleashes a secret war between extraterrestrial forces of good and evil. Starring a big French cast including Virginie Efira, Lily-Rose Depp, Camille Cottin, Lyna Khoudri, Anamaria Vartolomei, with Fabrice Luchini. It's a bit weird how this trailer hides so much of the sci-fi until the last few shots at the end, instead focusing...

Dan Levy admitted that he was too “busy” to finish watching The Idol last summer, especially after one of his scenes was cut from the HBO show.
The actor played Benjamin, Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) publicist, in the controversial five-episode series, but his character appeared only in the first episode, and another scene never made it in the final cut of the show.
Now, more than six months after The Idol premiered in June, Levy made an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen and was asked by Cohen on behalf of a fan: “Why were your scenes cut from The Idol, and what did you really think of the show?”
Though the Schitt’s Creek star seemed to be a bit taken aback by the question, he said in response after giving it some thought, “I think it was only one scene that was cut.

Willem Dafoe addresses comparisons between his role in Robert Eggers’ upcoming Nosferatu remake and his turn in 2000’s Shadow Of The Vampire.
It’s been just under a year since Willem Dafoe was announced as part of the ensemble for Robert Eggers’ upcoming remake of Nosferatu, the horror classic that unleashed an unofficial Dracula adaptation on cinema screens all the way back in 1922. Dafoe’s casting made a few waves at the time, partly because of his acclaimed previous work with Eggers. Dafoe has previously collaborated with the director on 2022’s The Northman and 2019’s The Lighthouse and both of those creative partnerships turned out very well indeed.
However, it wasn’t just a general outpouring of appreciation for a third collaboration between the pair that had the internet buzzing at the time. What was particularly noteworthy was that Dafoe had previously played the role of Nosferatu in the acclaimed 2000 indie film,...

Early in the final season of The Other Two, Cary Dubek (Drew Tarver) shows up at the distant and dingy offices of a Brooklyn-based burrito review website ready to do some press for his straight-to-vod indie movie — only to discover what he’s actually been sent to is a mental health facility. “You are here because anyone desperate enough to say yes to that level of press, and then actually show up to do it, is deeply unwell,” the doctor gravely informs him.
But if Cary’s predicament is an obvious and hilarious exaggeration, the impulse underlying it might feel uncomfortably recognizable. Fame exerts its own gravitational pull, whether you’re chasing it, existing in it or simply feeling its tug from outside of it. It’s no surprise it’s been a favorite topic of Hollywood for as long as Hollywood has existed — sometimes as an aspirational fantasy, sometimes as a cautionary tale.

Willem Dafoe’s latest role relied on rodent co-stars, according to “Nosferatu” director Robert Eggers, and the two frequent collaborators didn’t even get any good stew out of it.
Dafoe reunites with Eggers for their third film together following “The Lighthouse” (2019) and “The Northman” (2022). Dafoe portrays a vampire hunter who seeks out title character Count Orlok in part to save Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp).
Eggers told Entertainment Weekly that a scene featuring Dafoe is set in a graveyard and features real fire effects and thousands of very real rats.
“That sequence, aside from having real flames, had 2,000 real rats, which was challenging but also fun,” Eggers said. The writer-director said to think of Dafoe’s character as Sherlock Holmes; that would make his “Watson” Dr. Wilhelm Sievers, played by Ralph Ineson.

A couple days ago, we got our first look at the “crazy vampire hunter” character Willem Dafoe plays in The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers‘ remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it Here). So we know what he looks like in the film… but we may not be prepared for what the overall film looks like. While speaking to IndieWire, Dafoe said this take on Nosferatu is unlike anything he has ever seen before!
An unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the original Nosferatu has the following synopsis: In this highly influential silent horror film, the mysterious Count Orlok (Max Schreck) summons Thomas Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) to his remote Transylvanian castle in the mountains. The eerie Orlok seeks to buy a house near Hutter and his wife, Ellen (Greta Schroeder). After Orlok reveals his vampire nature, Hutter struggles to escape the castle,...

Twenty-three years ago, Willem Dafoe played actor Max Schreck in the film Shadow of the Vampire, which gave a behind-the-scenes look at the making of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic Nosferatu (watch it Here) to reveal that Schreck really was a vampire. Now Dafoe has a role in The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers‘ remake of Nosferatu – but he’s not playing the title role. Instead, he’s playing a “crazy vampire hunter” named Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, and Entertainment Weekly has just unveiled an interesting image that shows Dafoe in character! You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

Willem Dafoe is no stranger to the world of Nosferatu, as he famously played original Nosferatu actor Max Schreck in the 2000 movie Shadow of the Vampire. 5 Best Christmas Horror Movies(Photo Credit –IMDb)
When one thinks of Christmas, horror, and gore are generally not the first things that come to mind. Christmas is all about having fun. It’s full of life and color, and identifying it as scary would be out of place. And while Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” does make a perfect example of a ‘scary Christmas,’ it does not qualify as a traditional, spine-chilling horror movie. But contrary to popular narrative — certain media out there does it, and does it well. Think of the latest “Fargo” episode that runs a Halloween theme and blends it with “Nightmare Before Christmas.”
So, the appeal behind it is understandable. This is why we have curated a list of the best Christmas horror movies you can enjoy for a change of pace from all the happy and sparkly traditions.

Even before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes of the summer, 2023 marked a pivotal time in TV.
Studios and streamers spent the year compiling a lengthy list of small screen staples ending in 2023 and 2024; the announcements came amidst a string of mergers, strategy pivots, and a smattering of natural narrative conclusions that for good or bad were impacted by the industry-wide work stoppages.
From awards darlings like “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “The Handmaid’s Tale” (renewed for a sixth and final season expected next year) to tried-and-true audience favorites like “Archer,” “The Blacklist,” and “Riverdale,” many of the TV shows that got the chop this year were considered buzzy cultural touchstones at one time or another.
Emmy winners “Barry” and “Succession” famously both came to an end on May 28 in a doubled-header spring TV finale that closed the curtain on a memorable phase in HBO’s post-“Game of Thrones” recovery.

Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman) is back next year with a remake of the horror classic Nosferatu, and Total Film has shared a brand new image this week.
This latest shot gives us another look at Nicholas Hoult’s character in the movie, while again teasing the appearance of Bill Skarsgård as classic horror icon Count Orlok.
Eggers tells Total Film in their 2024 Preview issue, “Bill lost a tremendous amount of weight. He’s so transformed in every aspect that I don’t know if people will give him the credit. You can’t detect any Bill here. He worked with an opera coach to lower his voice an octave. I think people are going to think we treated it digitally, but that’s his performance.”
Focus Features will release Nosferatu in theaters for Christmas on December 25, 2024.

How did you come to know our lord and savior, Count Orlok? If you're of a certain age, your first exposure might have come from the "SpongeBob SquarePants" episode "Graveyard Shift," in which the rascally vampire kept secretly flickering the lights during the night shift at the Krusty Krab. Or maybe you watched "Shadow of the Vampire," E. Elias Merhige's darkly comedic 2000 fictional account about the making of F.W. Murnau's 1922 German Expressionist classic "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror." Or perhaps you even saw Murnau's unauthorized "Dracula" adaptation itself or Werner Herzog's 1979 remake "Nosferatu the Vampyre" (which did away with any pretenses and just referred to Orlok as Count Dracula).
Whatever the case, Orlok has sunk his fangs deep into our collective pop-cultural consciousness these last 100-plus years. With his pallid visage, sunken eyes, and bald head, he just stands out from all those other blood-suckers, straddling the...
