American Idol Season 22 Becomes Family Affair
Not all American Idol hopefuls are unknown singers hoping for their big break. Season 22 of the popular reality competition has already featured a few participants with ties to fame. Former NFL player Blake Proehl wowed the judges with his rendition of “In Case You Didn’t Know” by Brett Young.
He has some stiff competition in Emmy Russell. The name might not be familiar, but her face is unmistakable. Emmy is the granddaughter of The First Lady of Country Music, Loretta Lynn. She performed an original song called “Skinny” for the judges.

The NFL famously stands for Not For Long, when in reality, it means National Football League.
The average professional football career is less than two years, meaning most players have to figure out something to do when their time is up.
Wide receiver Blake Proehl decided he would pursue a career in singing.
The former Minnesota Viking recently auditioned for American Idol and got a golden ticket.
He’s not the first NFL player to go on one of these shows. Jon Dorenbos of the Philadelphia Eagles competed on America’s Got Talent back in the day.
So, what exactly is a golden ticket, and how did Blake achieve it?

If you’ve attended a mainstream country concert in the past decade, you’re probably familiar with the part of the set where the headliner sprinkles in a non-obvious cover from an adjacent genre like pop, R&b, or classic rock. It’s a move with any number of purposes: to show an artist’s range of influences, to reel in a drifting crowd with a massive hit, to appeal to a wider audience, or to highlight how fluid and arbitrary genre borders really are when you strip a song back to its essentials.

A female shooter wielding two “assault-style” rifles and a pistol killed three students and three adults at a private Christian school in Nashville on Monday in what marks the latest in a series of mass shootings in the U.S.
The suspect also died after being shot by police following the violence at The Covenant School, a Presbyterian school for about 200 students from preschool through sixth grade. Police said the shooter was a 28-year-old woman from Nashville, after initially saying she appeared to be in her teens. Authorities were working to identify her and whether she had a connection to the school.
President Joe Biden called on Congress again to pass his assault weapons ban in the wake of the Nashville shooting.
