When the 2022 Primetime Emmy nominations were revealed, Rhea Seehorn and Sydney Sweeney both had the honor of seeing their names come up twice. In addition to landing slots in the Best Drama Supporting Actress lineup for “Better Call Saul” and “Euphoria,” respectively, Seehorn (“Cooper’s Bar”) also competed for Best Short Form Actress while Sweeney (“The White Lotus”) was included among the Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actress contenders. Since neither of them had been recognized by the TV academy before, they became part of a group of 24 doubly-nominated Emmy first-timers.
Neither Seehorn nor Sweeney succeeded on either of her bids, but that isn’t surprising given the fact that only six of this group’s two dozen members have actually pulled off wins. The first such victor was Robert Cummings, who also originally established the club back in 1955. He received what would now be considered the Best Limited/Movie...

Nathan Lane and Amy Ryan steal all their scenes in Ari Aster’s “Beau Is Afraid” as Roger and Grace, a quack surgeon and his compassionate do-gooder wife who’ve fallen on hard times and take in Joaquin Phoenix’s neurotic mommy’s boy after Grace accidentally (or does she?) mows him down with a van. The veteran character actors had not previously worked together, despite meeting all the way back in 1987 when Lane was in the national tour of Neil Simon’s “Broadway Bound.”
“She was dating the young man who was playing Eugene, William Ragsdale,” Lane told IndieWire over Zoom. “I watched her become this superb actress, and then we were on ‘Only Murders in the Building’ but we didn’t have any scenes together, so I was thrilled that we finally, finally after all these years had gotten to work together.”

Carol Locatell, who had a memorable turn as the foulmouthed mother Ethel Hubbard in Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning and worked alongside Burt Reynolds in three films, has died. She was 82.
Locatell died April 11 at her home in Sherman Oaks after a long battle with cancer, her husband, songwriter and record producer Gregory Prestopino, told The Hollywood Reporter. They were together for 50 years.
Locatell moved from Los Angeles to New York in the mid-1980s to shake up her career, and from her first audition there she landed a part on Broadway in Neil Simon’s Broadway Bound, which premiered in 1986. She then appeared in The Shadow Box in 1994 and in The Rose Tattoo a year later.

Evan Peters and his “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” dad Richard Jenkins are the odds-on favorites to take home the Emmys for Best Limited Series/TV Movie Actor and Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actor, respectively. They’re already Emmy winners in the opposite categories, and if they prevail in September, they’ll join a small group of men who’ve won both limited/TV movie acting prizes.
Just six actors have swept both categories, which have undergone various name changes over the years. Laurence Olivier reigns supreme with five trophies total. He has four in lead for “The Moon and Sixpence” (1960), “Long Day’s Journey into Night” (1973), “Love Among the Ruins” (1975) and “King Lear” (1984), and one in supporting for “Brideshead Revisited” (1982).
Michael Moriarty has four, but they come with an asterisk. He owns lead and supporting statuettes for “Holocaust” (1978) and “James Dean” (2002), respectively, and won two Emmys...

Chicago – Writer Neil Simon was an American treasure, and created humor that anchored his often neurotic characters into our consciousness. From his early days in 1950s TV (“Your Show of Shows”) to winning a 1990s Pulitzer Prize for “Lost in Yonkers,” he refined and produced “the laugh.” Simon died on August 26th, 2018, at age 91, in New York City.

Om Shanti Om, as soon as you read the title, I bet like me, the music and the film immediately begins to play in your head. Directed by Farah Khan, the film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade, Kirron Kher and introduced Deepika Padukone. If you can believe it, it has been 10 years since the magic of Oso hit the big screen.
It is as Farah says, a movie, within a movie within a movie. Set in the 70s and present day, Om Shanti Om has films, stars, sets, drama, dance, action, romance, revenge, reincarnation and finally Happys Endings. It is a movie that has it all and more!
To set the stage check out the trailer that gives you a glimpse into the world of Om and Shantipriya.
I was very lucky to be able to have an in-depth conversation with director Farah Khan about Om Shanti Om.

Comedy and television legend Joan Rivers has died at the age 81, according to an official statement from her daughter Melissa Rivers. “It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother. [Melissa's son] Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated. My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon." Remember back in January when rumors of a possible "True Blood" movie were floating about? Well, grab your dancing shoes and get ready to do the Bon Temps Boogaloo because it looks like we might be getting a musical instead!
Per the AP, at the "True Blood" season premiere this past Tuesday night in Hollywood, composer Nathan Barr, who has written the instrumental scores for the series' entire seven seasons, said that True Blood: The Musical is indeed in the works.
"This was something that I pitched to HBO and [series creator] Alan Ball," said Barr, adding that the musical will revolve around protagonist, telepath, and waitress Sookie Stackhouse, portrayed in the HBO series by Anna Paquin. But, Barr added, after seven seasons of twists, turns, and characters for Sookie, it's proven a challenge to trim the saga down.

HBO’s vampire drama is coming to an end, but the legacy of “True Blood” will live on through the magic of the stage.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the hit series is getting its own musical.
“This was something that I pitched to HBO and Alan Ball [show creator],” Nathan Barr, the composer, said. Nathan wrote the instrumental scores for all seven seasons of the “True Blood.”
The musical will revolve around protagonist Sookie Stackhouse, portrayed by Anna Paquin. But after the twists and turns in the series, it is a true challenge to trim down the plot and make it into a two to three hour production.
"I think we're really going to try to return to the roots of the show," the composer commented.
Barr wants to hold a workshop version in a year and stated that he doesn’t want to say that the show is “Broadway bound.

“I certainly hope that they try!” Bell said about whether Disney would ask her to return. “Everybody in Frozen is a Broadway veteran so I certainly hope they try and wrangle us.”
