Starring as one of the first proper live-action feature-length leads of a Superman movie, Christopher Reeve left behind an unmatched legacy. A role that he held onto for nine years saw his popularity sky-rocket and his persona greatly amplified. Additionally, his off-screen life also largely mirrored his on-screen role as every day brought with it new adventures and the fearless star had no hesitation in trying out exploring something he had never done before, almost on a daily basis.

Despite all such highs, tragedy struck him in the first half of the 1990s. An unforeseen situation not only crippled him but also left him in deep psychological pain. Almost losing out on the will to live, the actor found strength in his wife, Dana Reeve. The actress presented an act of bravery and hope that still stands tall as one of the most emotional stories ever told.

Julie Chen Moonves starts our interview with a prayer.
“Heavenly Father, thank you for this beautiful day, and thank you for providing peace and patience,” she begins, after asking if I’d like to contribute or simply listen.
I choose the latter and admit that this is a first in the decade I’ve been a journalist.
Faith has become an important part of Chen Moonves’ life, especially in the past five years — following the ousting of husband Leslie Moonves, the former CBS Corp. CEO who disappeared from the limelight after he was fired over sexual misconduct allegations in 2018. While Chen Moonves chose to leave “The Talk” in the wake of her husband’s exit from CBS, she remained at the forefront of one of the network’s biggest shows, “Big Brother,” which premieres its 25th season on Aug. 2.
Now, she and her husband watch the reality show together, along with their 13-year-old son.

There are lots of sets of sisters in the world, but few are as goal-setting as Beyoncé and little sis Solange, who have both won Grammys tonight. They’re nearly identical, both crazy talented, and pretty much all-around perfect.
And yes, this family has a pretty high fabulous factor, but there’s no competition between the two — just love. Here’s proof.
1. Beyoncé wrote a rare Instagram caption about her sister’s album.

Hill would join Today‘s weekend show as co-host alongside Lester Holt, who currently anchors the show solo Saturdays and co-hosts with Jenna Wolfe on Sundays. Oprah Winfrey may have retired her namesake talk show for good in 2011, but she's still rollin' in the dough as the titular head of her own TV network. The daytime legend has topped Forbes' list of the highest-paid celebrities for the fourth year in a row with $165 million earned between May 2011 and May 2012. The news comes even after Own, her fledgling eponymous cable channel, has faced disappointing ratings. That prompted her to rethink Own's lineup—like deciding to pull the plug on The Rosie Show in March. Winfrey later admitted to pal Gayle King on CBS' The Early Show, "If I were writing a book about [running a network], I could call the book 101...

It's a sure bet that no other guest co-host of "The Talk" this week can match the story Susan Koeppen has.
The weekday CBS program started welcoming personalities from network-owned affiliates across the country with weathercaster John Elliott of New York's Wcbs-tv on Monday (June 25). One of her fellow joggers was a physician, and two medical students passing by helped administer CPR to her until Ems technicians arrived with a defibrillator.

HollywoodNews.com: As it seemed like a pretty far-fetched rumor, it comes as no surprise to hear that Oprah is not the godmother of Beyonce’s new daughter with husband Jay-z.
Oprah’s good friend, Gayle King, hit up ‘The Early Show’ to deny the claims that seemed a little unexpected to start, states UsMagazine.com. “It’s absolutely not true that she’s the godmother. She’s friends with them, of course, and likes them both very much,” King commented.
However, King did admit that if there was any truth to it, it would also be a surprise to Oprah: “Let me just say, if (that report is) true, it is news to her. It is news to her. You know, she was heading to South Africa when the baby was born.”

Monday marked the official debut of CBS' new morning show, "CBS This Morning."
CBS announced in November 2011 that the network would replace "The Early Show" with a new program hosted by Charlie Rose, Gayle King, and former "Early Show" anchor, Erica Hill.
The network has been promoting the new show for months, playing up the fact that the program would be a departure from rivals "Today" and "Good Morning America."
"CBS This Morning" debuted its new tagline, "Putting the News Back in Morning News," which boasts the program's deliberate hard news slant. The network also omitted somewhat peculiar morning show traditions, like crowds gathering outside the studio to cheer on a national weatherman, and hosts reporting news from an in-studio couch. The green room, which is behind glass walls in the corner of the studio, includes a large sofa.

Folks at ABC are “doing a happy dance” over word that CBS is about to remake The Early Show into a Morning Joe-like ensemble gabfest with Charlie Rose and Gayle King joining current co-hosts Erica Hill and Jeff Glor, The New York Times says. The plan indicates that the network is abandoning any hope of overtaking ABC’s Good Morning America or NBC’s Today in the ratings, and are settling instead for the cachet of being a hard-news alternative — which appeals to CBS’ older demo. CBS hasn’t decided whether to stick with the Early Show name, and it seems there’s no role for another co-host, Chris Wragge. The revamped show would have a regular group of contributors with Rose guiding things at 7 Am, and King taking charge at 8. CBS execs can’t be pleased with the way The Times framed their plans: The paper says that the...

Last December there was a veritable bloodbath over at CBS when 'The Early Show' axed anchors Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez, plus meteorologist Dave Price, in a major reshuffle of CBS News on-air talent. Now it's been reported that early 2012 will see the show receive another makeover including a new set, maybe a new name, and two new hosts: PBS veteran Charlie Rose and Oprah's Bff Gayle King.
According to 'The New York Times' CBS will announce the planned revamp in New York on Tuesday. The network is expected to reveal a shift in direction away from the coffee klatch feel of most morning talk shows and towards a focus on hard news with the panel format of shows like MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' and ABC's 'The View.'

In the seemingly never-ending struggle to help CBS get out of the morning show doldrums, the network appears to be bringing on Charlie Rose and Gayle King as part of total program remake.
The New York Times is reporting that the perennially third-place "The Early Show" will announce Tuesday (Nov. 15) a complete re-do. It will now have an increased focus on hard news versus the soft news approach that "Good Morning America" and "Today" feature. The report also states that a new set is in the works.
It seems that Rose, who is a periodic contributor to "60 Minutes" and has his own program in PBS, will lead the first hour of the show. King, who many know through Oprah Winfrey, will work the second hour. Current hosts Erica Hill and Jeff Glor will remain with the show.
Despite its highly-rated prime time line up, CBS has not been able to translate that into morning viewership.

In an interview with 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7Am Et on CBS) 'Mike & Molly' star Billy Gardell discussed how the CBS sitcom has rocketed his career to a new level of success. While his co-star Melissa McCarthy has had a truly epic year, winning an Emmy and starring in 'Bridesmaids,' Gardell told Mo Rocca that the show's fans have been steadily increasing the size of the crowds at his stand-up shows.
But while his comedy shows may be getting bigger in size, Gardell is decreasing in size himself. He's lost 25 pounds, or "one chin," since the show began. Gardell said that his producers were behind him in his weight-loss journey, assuring him that they would write the changes into his character's story. Even with the support, Gardell admitted that "sometimes the cake wins."

Charlie Rose in the morning? It may happen. This morning, CNN host Howard Kurtz posted an interesting tweet: “Charlie Rose tells me he’s talking to CBS about co-hosting Early Show, is ‘intrigued’ by taking a non-traditional approach. In Newsweek.”

Could Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs of '2 Broke Girls' be the next Lucy and Ethel? 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7Am on CBS) explored the question as Mo Rocca took a look back at female friends on television, from 'I Love Lucy' to Mary and Rhoda, and Laverne and Shirley to evaluate how the newcomers might stack up.
"With '2 Broke Girls,' one is this working class waitress and the other one is a Manhattan heiress who also had a fall from grace," said Jess Cagle, EW editor. That compares best with 'Laverne & Shirley,' he said, as the pair support each other despite their differences and bond as friends.

Ashton Kutcher takes his first bow on 'Two and a Half Men' when the show makes its season premiere on Monday. Kutcher's casting is one of the most high-profile sitcom replacements in TV history, as Kutcher takes over for Charlie Sheen after his public meltdown. Kutcher, though, is just enjoying himself, as he told 'The Early Show'(weekdays, 7Am on CBS) in an interview.
"It's always sort of nice to jump on something that's already moving and successful and that people already have an appetite for," he said. "It seemed like the best job in the world."

How big was the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton? So big that the networks hired special experts to enhance their coverage. CBS News Royal Contributor Victoria Arbiter reported on TLC's new reality special, 'Crazy About Pippa,' on 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7Am on CBS), and we got the sense that a few members of the 'Early' crew might be tuning in.
Arbiter was skeptical about at least one of TLC's claims about the show. "TLC is saying that they have spoken to her closest friends," she said. "I find remarks like that very dubious because no one within the royal circle is going to be talking. But it's Pippa all the time and I'm sure people will be tuning in."

In between balancing an unrelenting media junket for 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2' and his eight shows a week on Broadway for 'How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying,' Daniel Radcliffe has shown himself to be a thoughtful, engaging young man. His intellectual prowess was on full display Wednesday on 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7Am on CBS), when he used a historical quotation from Louis Xiv to put the end of the Potter series into perspective.
Radcliffe offered a paraphrased version of King Louis Xiv's dying words to explain his feelings on the end of the franchise: "Why are you crying? Did you imagine I was immortal?"
"It's that same thing of, it had to end sometime," he said. "And we may as well just celebrate it rather than getting too sad."

NBC didn't spill any secrets about the unnamed hourlong prime time news program that Brian Williams is developing when it announced today that former CBS News anchor Harry Smith will join the team as "one of the correspondents." The show's exact format is still a mystery, although NBC News president nm2504534 autoSteve Capus[/link] says that Smith's “vast experience, covering everything from interviews with world leaders to wars and natural disasters, makes him a perfect fit for this new broadcast," which will also feature NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC anchors and correspondents. NBC's praise must be refreshing for Smith to hear. In January, CBS pared back his role at The Early Show. CBS put Chris Wragge and Erica Hill in as anchors, replacing Smith and Maggie Rodriguez, in an effort to narrow the ratings gap with NBC's Today and ABC's Good Morning America. Last November, Smith and Maggie Rodriguez were ousted from Early Show in an effort to revamp the morning show. Chris Wragge and Erica Hall replaced the two vets.
