“Stowaway,” a Netflix sci-fi and drama movie starring Toni Collette, took Nielsen’s top spot for all films on streaming during the week of April 19, toppling the Melissa McCarthy comedy “Thunder Force” that had held the No. 1 slot for several weeks.
“Stowaway” was viewed for 359 million minutes during the week of April 19-25 after debuting on Netflix on April 22, according to the latest streaming figures from Nielsen. It beat out “Thunder Force,” which had another strong showing with 318 million minutes for the week. “Thunder Force” debuted on the list for the week of April 5 and topped not just the list of streaming movies but also the most minutes viewed for anything on streaming with 950 million minutes, beating out mainstays like “NCIS” and new episodes of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Killing and then resurrecting important characters is a time-honored tradition for comic books and it looks like comic book movies will finally be embracing this trend as well. Fans saw many of the most beloved McU heroes die and then come back to life in Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel Avengers: Endgame, only for mainstay heroes Iron Man and Black Widow to die for good in the latter film. Or did they?
Marvel recently promised to give fans more of their favorite characters throughout their Phase 4 plans, with Black Widow and The Eternals set for spring and fall of 2020 respectively. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder are also due in February, May, and November of 2021, in that order. But that’s not all.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently teased that a trans character is on the way to the McU. And while it was unclear at the time who he might be talking about, it seems we now have our answer.
According to the folks over at The Illuminerdi, the studio is currently casting for the role of Sera, who’s going to be Marvel’s first transgender hero and will apparently appear in Loki. But the character’s involvement in the McU won’t end there, as the role is said to be a major supporting part, with plans for Sera to show up in future Marvel movies as well.
Which films those may be, we can’t yet say, but Thor: Love and Thunder seems like the most logical choice here, given that we know it’ll be heavily tied to the events of Loki and we’ll also...

Thor: Love and Thunder is fast becoming one of the most-talked-about comic book projects currently in development.
For one, it’ll signal the moment when Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster becomes Mighty Thor, while Marvel fans are eager to see how writer-director Taika Waititi delivers a worthy follow-up to Ragnarok. According to Waititi himself, Love and Thunder will be much bigger in scope than its beloved predecessor, so take from that what you will.
But there’s another wrinkle to Thor: Love and Thunder that has left us rooted to the edge of our seats: the casting of former Batman star Christian Bale. Of course, Marvel has kept the identity of Bale’s character under wraps from the get-go, but there are rumors swirling that Silver Surfer will play a prominent role in next year’s Thor movie. With production already ongoing for both The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision, Marvel is now kicking off work on a third TV show that’s coming to Disney Plus. As per reports that the cameras have started rolling, Tom Hiddleston took to Instagram today to share a short video filmed behind the scenes on Loki.
The brief clip showcases the British actor on wires, practising a high jump onto a mat. You’d think that the McU veteran would be used to these kind of stunts by now, but hilariously, he failed to stick the superhero landing on this take and ended up falling flat on his face.

Don’t go into hibernation yet, all you Marvel movie maniacs! Face front, because for the first time we’ll take another trip into the multi-connected film universe begun way back in 2008 (can it really be a decade next May). Now, this past spring we took another joyride through the cosmos in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. Then, just a couple of months later, the web-slinger headlined his first solo (he did get some mentoring from Iron Man) outing (a team-up between Marvel Studios and Sony) in the entertaining Spider-man: Homecoming. So, is this new flick another big many-hero slugfest? Yes, a bit, as was with Captain America: Civil War, but just one hero’s name precedes the colon, the mighty Thor. He’s overdue since it’s been over four years since Thor: The Dark World. During that time he helped saved the Earth once more as a...

Honored on the fourth Thursday of September, the campaign asks pet lovers and animal rescue groups to create an unstoppable, integrated voice advocating for homeless pets to live in forever homes, not die waiting for them. Grassroots candle-lighting ceremonies and a global avalanche of social media buzz will shine a light on the millions of animals still awaiting adoption and encourage communities to opt to adopt and reduce the millions of homeless pets euthanized each year. As in previous years, some very big names are stepping forward to lend their support to the cause, including Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress, Kristin Chenoweth, who has been named the 2017 Official Spokesperson for the campaign. Yes, we know: It’s a little premature to assemble a list of the best movies of the year when there’s so much left of it. We have yet to see a lot of exciting new work from major auteurs like Christopher Nolan (“Dunkirk”), Alexander Payne (“Downsizing”), and Guillermo del Toro (“The Shape of Water”), not to mention heavy-hitting studio-produced spectacles like “Blade Runner 2049” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” But those last two wouldn’t even qualify for this list of the best independent films of the year, anyway, and they’ll have plenty of time to hog the spotlight.
Fortunately, we’ve found plenty of movies from around the world to celebrate, and while they haven’t all been box office sensations, they provide overwhelming evidence that the art form is thriving well into the second decade of the new millennium, and shows no signs of slowing down.

This fall The CW may need to consider changing its name to the DC Super Hero Network or something similar with as many super hero shows as it has lined up. Starting with Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. If that weren't enough, soon they will also launch Black Lightning. As many of us have already seen, they have already released a promo image as well as a trailer for the show. This show as confirmed by the CW President Mark Pedowitz will not be part of the Arrowverse as they are not looking to make a 5 way crossover, not to mention that while the other shows are produced in Vancouver, Black Lightning is produced in Atlanta. But I think that they will be crossed over at some point. Supergirl wasn't supposed to cross over either but that quickly changed as well all remember. So for now with...

As we creep along to the midway point of Summer, this can only mean one thing at the multiplex (aside from added matinees): another installment of a big studio franchise (formerly a series) will be occupying several screens. We’ve already had a new Alien, and another Depp pirate pic as the Planet Apes and Transformers wait in the wings, along with that wall-crawling wonder. I suppose we’re due for an animated sequel, but this one’s from the most celebrated studio of the last couple of decades, Pixar. Aside from Toy Story, they avoided follow-ups to their other hit films until 2011 when the Cars gang refueled for Cars 2. Then one of the other hits got a prequel, Monster University, and another spawned last year’s box office smash, Finding Dory. Now here’s the automotive, track-burnin’ “hat trick” as good ole’ number 95, Lightning McQueen roars back...

From Jungle Cruise to Rampage, San Andreas 2 to the as-yet-untitled ninth installment in Universal’s Fast and Furious saga, it’s a casting docket that mixes budding franchise-starters with blockbuster sequels. But the one Dwayne Johnson project that has undoubtedly sparked a sense of enthusiasm among DC fans is Black Adam.

When it comes to Thunder Lotus’ Jotun: Valhalla Edition, the first game people will think of is Stoic’s The Banner Saga. Despite very different gameplay styles, the initial comparisons are obvious. Both games feature Norse mythology. Both use beautiful hand-drawn visuals. Both feature relatively long periods of quieter gameplay, followed by combat sequences. Also, both have been scored by composers with incredible amounts of talent.
But to tie the games together in this way would be unfair to both titles. As I say, the gameplay styles are very different. Jotun is a direct-controlled action affair where you play as Thora, a Viking woman who has suffered an inglorious death, meaning that she’s prevented from entering Valhalla. The great Odin offers up a second chance for the warrior though, tasking her with impressing the various gods by defeating them in combat. Do this, and Valhalla awaits.

The entrepreneur is Kaeya Majmundar -- who appeared on the show last year with a collapsible "BZbox" and scored herself a deal with Lori Greiner. But that was then ... now she's onto designing shirts -- and recently approached Derrick Rose about a design that...

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more outrageous, Ted and his Bff are back in the hilarious, boundary-busting buddy comedy, Ted 2, coming to Digital HD on November 24, 2015, and Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, DVD and On Demand on December 15, 2015, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
The follow up to Ted, the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time, Ted 2 features more of the hysterically raunchy banter that has made writer-director-actor Seth MacFarlane an entertainment world powerhouse—as well as a touching story of brotherly love. Both the Blu-ray and DVD include an Unrated extended edition that features never-before-seen footage that was too rude for the cinema, but makes this year’s most outrageous comedy the perfect gift for fans of this very adult spin on a childhood icon.

WWE held the Nxt Takeover Brooklyn event in the Barclays Center in front of a raucous New York crowd that was energetic all night long. The event started shortly after 7:30pmET with matches taped for next week’s Nxt show and then at 9pmET the live broadcast started on WWE Network.
The show was originally scheduled to run for two hours, but it ran late. The main event started at about 10:58pmET and the broadcast went off the air at 11:22pmET, but that’s the advantage of airing on WWE Network – they can end it when they want. Here are the results from the show.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. Or more accurately: In the grim darkness of the far future, everything is done because it’s awesome. Seriously, if Warhammer 40,000 had one rule, it would be everything is done because it’s cool.
Are things like chainsaw swords or giant robots the size of cities practical? No, not really. How about giant cathedrals on top of star ships the size of continents? Not particularly. Fire lines of plasma rifle wielding soldiers that can kill their enemies long before they get in range to hit them with their chainsaw swords? Ok, maybe, but the Tau Empire is different. A shame they’re not in this game.
However, while this game may not feature the best faction in the Warhamer 40k lore, it is still one of the best games to carry the Warhammer 40k title. At the very least,...

The British wrestling industry is currently the healthiest it has been in years. There are several thriving promotions putting on sell-out shows around the United Kingdom. This is Progress, Preston City Wrestling and that old family favourite All Star are all packing them in on a regular basis.
Not too long ago it was seen as a success on most shows if you were able to draw 200 people but, for promotions such as the ones mentioned above, that would be seen as a disaster. These groups routinely attract in excess of 500 people to shows and have carved out a brand identity and a dedicated following in the process.
The most talked-about company in the UK at the moment is Insane Championship Wrestling, from Scotland. Icw have amassed a rabid, cult-like following due in no small part to the Ecw-esque experience that they offer, the two acclaimed BBC...

I will not lie, I grew up a Power Rangers fanatic. Sure, I was not around when the original series was on, but I grew up with Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder, two epic iterations of the series. Last year, it was announced that Lionsgate (known for The Hunger Games series) and Saban (creators of the Power Rangers) would be teaming up to bring a new take on the rangers to the big screen. Following this announcement, we received official word that two of the most talented blockbuster writers had joined the film, and would develop the screenplay. Star Trek producer Roberto Orci also joined the film as a producer, and while many had a problem with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the film was not Orci’s fault, with the star of the film, Andrew Garfield, even calling Orci’s original screenplay “beautiful.” Now, on paper this film seems to...

Ya gotta love good ol' Jack Burton (Kurt Russell). Funko has released a line of Pop! collectible figures featuring the characters from John Carpenter’s classic 1986 action comedy Big Trouble in Little China. The characters included in the series are Jack, Gracie Law, the villain Lo Pan, and his three Storm henchmen — Rain, Thunder, and Lightning.
This was one of my favorite movies when I was growing up. I watched it a ridiculous number of times when I was kid. It might be time to show to my own kids and see how they like it!

Our friend Nathan Hunt and his crew at Storm Isle Productions recently ran a Kickstarter
campaign to raise funds for their new game Disciples of the Storm. They recently showed off the new Ice Cannons to me, then to their Facebook community.
Originally his team was working on a continuation of the popular Rts game NetStorm: Islands At War. However, due to licensing issues they had to scrap the original IP and decided to create Disciples of the Storm in its stead.
Dots has all the classic game play of the original game but is based on a whole new planet with its own Wind, Rain and Thunder factions fighting for dominion over their realm. Some of the weapons and temples are a nod to Netstorm thanks to the original artists coming on board to help make this game possible.
Below are a few pictures of the Ice Cannon within the game environment.

The Scribbler

Well, if considering the lampooning nature of the 1990s in the pro wrestling industry, the idea that Ecw’s place in all of this as an outside instigator is incredibly important. As the “third” major American company, the idea that Ecw promoted hardcore and pure wrestling over classic portrayals of the business and cartoonish buffoonery (and excelled in doing so) pushed forth WCW’s attempts at indoctrinating cruiserweight wrestling into the industry, as well as then then WWF’s “Attitude Era.”
Insofar as Ecw poking fun at the competition, as well as the competition poking fun at them, the silliness is obvious and rather commonplace. However, the more intriguing issues to consider center around moments when Ecw’s wrestlers, wrestling or characters were directly lifted from the bingo hall on the corner of Swanson and Ritner in South Philadelphia and put on Raw, Nitro, Smackdown, Thunder or global Pay-Per-View.

Dark Souls II's first Dlc is due today, and a new patch has addressed a huge list of issues...
News
The first Dlc for Dark Souls II, Crown of the Sunken King, has probably landed by the time you read this, and accompanying it is a huge update that fixes and tweaks a massive range of features.
You can see the full list below (and it's some list), but highlights include a limit to the amount of souls a player can earn whilst fighting invaders, and the removal of healing abilities during any form of PvP, a common annoyance for those who follow Dark Souls' community created honour system of no healing during a fight.
A good portion of the update deals with balancing, making changes to weapons damage, armour effectiveness, and spells. Some items have been changed too, such as the very handy Gower's Ring of Protection, which has been weakened,...

Thor is a superhero who has undergone many changes over the years, whether it’s as drastic as being a frog or allowing the likes of Captain America and Superman to wield his mighty hammer, Mjolnir.
This October, Marvel Comics will make the most drastic alteration to the God of Thunder yet when he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the iconic weapon. This leads to a brand new female hero taking over the mantle, and though fans have some idea of who it could be, the publisher has yet to reveal her identity. Jason Aaron (who writes the current Thor: God of Thunder series) will pen Thor, and joining him will be artist Russell Dauterman.
“The inscription on Thor’s hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if He be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it’s time to update that inscription,” says Marvel editor Wil Moss.

Mortal Kombat fans have been excited about the series’ newest installment, Mortal Kombat X, since its trailer was revealed in early June. With its 2015 release date still on the horizon, fans are hungry for any new information regarding the game, which is expected to be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Similar to the classic Mortal Kombat games, the newest incarnation will feature one-on-one fighting with trademark “fatalities,” the fun-to-play finishing moves inflicted upon an opponent about to be defeated. Similar to the classic Mortal Kombat games, the newest incarnation will feature one-on-one fighting with trademark “fatalities,” the fun-to-play finishing moves inflicted upon an opponent about to be defeated. Mortal Kombat X will also feature some upgrades to the series’ traditional features, such as interacting with the environment to bounce off areas or obtain weapons.

Earlier today, Marvel announced their new Thor comic book which features a female Thor, and it looks and sounds pretty badass. The new God of Thunder series is called Thor, and it was written by Jason Aaron (Thor: God of Thunder, Original Sin), and it includes art from Russell Dauterman (Cyclops). It seems like a lot of people were shocked by the huge change, but being a father of a couple little girls, I'm actually excited about the change. This will definitely help in my attempts to get them to read comic books. I also love the art that was released for it. Below you will find the press release for the new series.
This October, Marvel Comics evolves once again in one of the most shocking and exciting changes ever to shake one of Marvel’s “big three” – Captain American, Iron Man and Thor – Marvel Comics will be introducing an all-newTHOR,...

For the first time, Thor will be a woman.
Marvel made a groundbreaking move Tuesday, revealing that Thor, the God of Thunder, would be a woman for the first time ever.
The big announcement dropped on The View, where co-host Whoopi Goldberg... wait. This was announced on The View? Seriously?
Okay, so news about Marvel canon breaks on The View now. Cool.
Whoopi Goldberg made the announcement, saying, "For the first time in history, [Thor's] hammer is being held by a woman. That's right. Thor is a woman!”
Top 5 Marvel Movie Heroes
According to Goldberg, the new hammer-wielding hero modeled herself after the original Thor, because he saved her life which, okay... is a little "damsel-in-distress-y," but it's the thought that counts, right?
Point is -- gender equality is Far from where it needs to be, but an iconic Marvel superhero is now a woman, and that's pretty awesome. We officially have a female Thor before we have...

Today on ABC’s The View, Whoopi Goldberg announced that Marvel's current incarnation of Thor will be deemed unworthy to wield Mjolnir, and the hammer (and mantle) will be taken up by a female character. "It’s a huge day in the Marvel Universe. Thor, the God of Thunder, he messed up, and he’s no longer worthy to hold that damn hammer of his. For the first time in history, that hammer is being held by a woman. That’s right. Thor is a woman!” Which woman is not revealed, although she is rumoured to be former Spawn mainstay Angela, and the artwork below certainly resembles that character. More details are sparse, but Goldberg also mentions that this character will be someone who was saved by the Thunder-God in the past, and she will indeed be known as Thor. We'll update when any more info becomes available, but...

It has been over 14 years since WCW went out of business, swallowed whole by the corporate conglomerate known as the World Wrestling Federation in 2001, but it’s never a bad time to look back at some of the reasons why the company ended up the way they did. Bad booking decisions, poor managerial moments, lousy attitudes… it’s all there, ripe for the ridicule.
At one point, WCW was the wrestling promotion. The WWF has had its struggles through the years, and WCW took advantage of that as a legitimate alternative. Once the Monday Night Wars began with the creation of Nitro as a head-to-head alternative to Raw, things really took off. Their product was so different than what the WWF was putting on television, showcasing different styles of wrestling and giving a new set of characters and gimmicks to fall in love with. Once the nWo and people like Goldberg showed up,...
