The One With The Soccer Moms...
taylorkingston6 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this episode. It's really funny. It's not one of my all-time favorite episodes from the series, or even this season, but it is still really enjoyable, and definitely worth a watch.

In this episode, Alan asks Charlie to take Jake to soccer practice. Once there, Charlie discovers that the children are encouraged not to keep score, and that's when he just says his mind. But after he meets an attractive "Soccer Mom" he decided to keep his opinions to himself, at least until he "seals the deal". He takes Jake to a play-date with the woman's son, and then after discovering what Charlie had done, Alan gets furious that he used his son.

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Great.

The advantages of accompanied Jake in the football

Warning: Spoilers
This fifth episode is of the most classic it resumes(takes back) little near all which makes the salt of the series but without exploiting(running) up to the end its usual key points. We have the right(law) has some funny situations with Alan who breaks himself the nose, Charlie who has a hangover. The dialogs while remaining good are not also incisive as in other episodes. We shall always greet the freedom of speech of the set(group) on the levels of the themes which are frontally approached, without subtlety although the sexual allusions remain numerous. Be that as it may we have to deal with a good episode no big reference but an intrigue which holds well the set(group).

Soccer Mom heaven

Warning: Spoilers
Charlie & Alan find a goldmine with women, thanks to Jake's soccer team, filled with hot moms. Charlie goes with Alan on a day he has a very bad hangover, and gets bored silly with a couple of the Moms. He finds a diamond in the rough with Kate (Liz Vassey) But Kate's life might be too chaotic for Charlie to handle. Meanwhile, Alan hangs out with two of the Moms, Charlie wasn't too interested in. This episode was OK. I felt it lacked laughs like many of the episodes do. I didn't find the whole "mom" thing funny, and to be perfectly honest. Charlie & Alan don't have a whole lot to do in this one. It does have some moments that are very funny such as Alan looking at a woman's neck, being stupid in the process, or Alan getting smacked in the head violently by a swinging door. It also has one of Charlie's rare nice moments. I really enjoyed his relationship with Liz Vassey. He is nice to woman once in a while in this show, and the romance side of me always enjoys it. Christine Dunford (Who you may recognize from Seinfeld) plays a bit of a snob, just like she does in Senfield, while The New Adventures of Old Christine cast member, Tricia O'Kelley shows up as well. It's enjoyable enough, but one of the lesser episodes. You should still see it if you're a big fan of the show

A much better show back in series 1

It's almost sad to see early episodes like this when you consider what this show became. Yes, there are still the odd adult jokes here, but nothing in comparison to the lewd comedy it would become in the later years.

Here the comedy is matched by a lot of heart, and all three of the regular cast are on top form in their roles. I loved the scenes between Charlie and the soccer Mum, and him almost longing for the family life that Alan had.

It's almost like watching a different show at times, and a much classier and warmer show at that.
