There’s been no shortage of emotional rollercoaster rides throughout the third season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead series, but like all riveting stories, an end must come to wrap up loose ends and bring closure to those narrative strands that have been left dangling for the last several months. Telltale’s unlikely to give every character in its adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel a happy ending in From the Gallows, but don’t forget, the onus is just as much on you to shape the outcome of Season Three as it is theirs.
In case you missed it earlier this week, the developer released a handy recap video for The Walking Dead‘s latest season, in which various members of the development team discussed the importance of family as a theme in A New Frontier as a whole, and how it affects the choices that players make as new protagonist Javier.

The season finale for Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is due to launch on May 30 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and mobile devices, the developer has announced. Running with the suitably bleak title of From the Gallows, the fifth and final episode of Season Three picks up right where the previous episode, Thicker Than Water, left off.
As with all past episodes, From the Gallows will begin downloading automatically for all season pass holders upon launch, with those who picked up the physical edition released earlier this year also able to grab it on their chosen platform at no additional cost.
So, with an end date now locked in for A New Frontier, are we to expect a satisfying conclusion for protagonist Javier and the community of Richmond? Telltale provides no definitive answers on its blog, but does promise that big things are “about to go down,...

I’d complained previously about how far Telltale Games had gotten away from its adventure game roots during The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, as it really stuck out in the previous episode Above the Law. That’s why I was thrilled to see that the fourth instalment, Thicker Than Water, starts out with Javier once again stuck inside a jail cell. This time, I had to actually walk around, examine objects and figure out a way to escape entrapment.
The scene didn’t flex my wit, as I simply had to pick up a stool and walk over to the window, but it was refreshing to be able to finally explore at my own pace again. Thankfully, this isn’t just a one-off, as there are actually three scenes in Thicker Than Water that give agency back over to the player. There’s still plenty of quick time...

The fourth episode in Telltale’s third season of The Walking Dead is due out next week on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and mobile devices and, judging by today’s launch trailer, things have gone from bad to worse since the events that transpired in last month’s episode. Thicker Than Water will be available to download April 25 for all season pass holders and owners of the physical edition released earlier this year, both of which grant access to all five of Season Three’s episodes as and when they’re released.
Having discovered the true nature of the New Frontier’s leadership, tensions begin to fray within the inner circles of the Garcia family, and, as before, it’ll be up to players to ultimately dictate how events affect and shape each family member’s fate as protagonist Javier. With his team at Pemberley Digital, Bernie Su adapted several works of literature into web series led by teenage and young adult stars. Now, with his new production company, he will have a chance to add to that library. Canvas Media Studios, founded last year by Su and David Tochterman, has inked a deal with New Leaf Literary & Media through which it will adapt four young adult (Ya) novels into digital series.

Review Frances Roberts 20 Aug 2013 - 13:25
Under The Dome’s writers throw yet more plot-lines, secrets, and dodgy dialogue into the mix. Here’s Frances’ exasperated review…
This review contains spoilers.
1.9 The Fourth Hand
Somewhere in Under the Dome, suffocating underneath all the cretinous dialogue and logic-missing narrative leaps, are the germs of a probing story. When Big Jim asked whether Chester’s Mill was still part of America this week, a light bulb fizzed momentarily on in the recesses of my brain. ‘That’s interesting’ it said, with a note of dare-i-hope in its voice. ‘Society-building? There’s a story…’ Then? Off flicked the light and on went the dim-witted action.
This close to the finale, it’s a fool’s errand to wait for Under the Dome to transform into something it isn’t. The show set out its stall early with that cow-slicing whoomph extravaganza pilot, and...

Joe and Julia receive a cryptic message from an egg in this week’s insultingly dim episode of Under the Dome.
This review contains spoilers.
1.8 Thicker Than Water
There’s something indecorous about laying into Under the Dome. For a start, it’s too easy (titling an episode ‘Thicker Than…’ is just asking for it). Secondly, if I wasn’t writing about it for this site, I’d have switched off by now. Only sticking around to take swipes at something I’m fairly sure will piss me off each week really isn’t cricket, especially as everyone who agrees with me me will have skedaddled long ago, leaving only a robust ten million fans to shout me down in the comments.
And yet.
Every clunker of a line, every melodramatic stare-down, every attempt at depth flattened by overly on-the-nose exposition and dialogue feels...

Under the Dome Episode 108
“Thicker Than Water”
Written By: Adam Stein
Directed By: Jack Bender
Original Airdate: 12 August 2013
In This Episode...
Inexplicably, Ollie seems preoccupied with taking over Jim’s seat as councilman. I guess it is less about the title and more because he could take control of the town. He is essentially holding the town’s water for ransom. Jim tries to take it back under the theory of eminent domain, but when he and the tiny police force show up at Ollie’s farm, he has a much bigger battalion of good ol’ boys and they stand down. Jim had kicked Junior out of the house for the whole kidnapping thing, so Junior joins Ollie’s team. Ollie fills in Junior on the circumstances surrounding his mother’s death. He believed it was a car accident, and it was - but it was a suicide. Junior decides...

Under the Dome continued on the crazy train in "Thicker Than Water," with stories all over the place. And none of them were particularly compelling.
In Chester's Mill, it's been just over a week since the Dome appeared over the town. But the show, of course, has been on for two months now. Are you drawn to any of the characters? Do you care about them? I wish I did and I really do want to... but I just don't - and that's a problem.
Julia and Barbie had chemistry immediately and the secret about what happened to her husband was an obstacle for them to overcome. That situation resolved itself with the foundation of truth and then a few lies. With almost a snap of the fingers, it was resolved. Now, they are a charming couple, but with little substance.
Meanwhile, the teen pairing of Norrie and Joe started...

Meanwhile, within the mini-dome there’s – Another Smaller Dome! Just kidding, but seriously this show is so bad. “The monarch will be crowned.” Remember, “Save the cheerleader, save the world,” from the first season of Heroes? This is worse. I liked the butterfly appearances spread throughout the series and should be glad it’s going somehwere, but this is just too hokey to be taken seriously. Under the Dome is officially the worst because it’s so transparent; nothing it attempts is earned so it falls flat. It’s obvious when they want us to feel tension, and it’s obvious how absent that tension is. Barbie’s onto Jim? Well, no shit, it’s about time. Angie has a butterfly tattoo (though not a monarch) – well, that doesn’t prove anything other than her own poor taste (nothing against butterfly tattoos, but hers is pretty...

Seeing as we’ve just passed the midpoint of Under the Dome’s first season, it seems about right that we’ve reached the third of five stages that come when grieving a show thats promise has been draining out of it since episode two, like gore from a bullet wound to the gut. Bargaining is the phase where you try to stop focussing on the show’s flawed whole, and just start being thankful for when things go right on occasion. The more distance we get from those (probably unrealistic) expectations for what a show centered around a giant dome could possibly achieve, the easier it can be to enjoy parts of Under the Dome without feeling like you have to take the experience with enough grains to salt a farmer’s field.

On the latest episode of "Under the Dome," there's a shoot-out over Ollie Dinsmore's well and Julia keeps investigating the cause of the dome, thanks to Joe and Norrie's discovery.
The Dome
Joe mentions the "egg" to Julia and she demands to be taken there, like the intrepid reporter she is. When they arrive, the egg is glowing pink (it seemed to "come alive" when Joe was drawing a picture of it) and when Julia touches the dome, she sees another Joe, who says, "The monarch will be crowned."
What does that mean? Well, the show is diverging wildly from the book at this point, so honestly, it's anybody's guess. Who do you think the monarch is? Big Jim? Joe? Angie? Somebody else entirely?
The Town
There's not a lot of food left, so the only course of action is to grow crops, but Ollie's monopoly on the well --...

The longer Chester’s Mill sits Under the Dome, the less pleasant things become. They’re having their own private little dystopia, with a side of mystery and creepiness, all for our viewing enjoyment. Thank you, Stephen King, Brian K. Vaughan, and CBS. To get us ready for the latest problems, we have a TV spot and clip from tonight’s new episode, “Thicker Than Water”:

Silver faced her final — and most brutal — crisis on the show’s final episode. Worst ending ever?
It’s been less than 24 hours since 90210 aired its series finale, and while I’m tickled that Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Liam (Matt Lanter) finally got their heads out of their beautiful butts and became engaged, there’s one less-happy plot point in need of discussing: I can’t believe the show ended with Silver (Jessica Stroup) getting cancer!
No resolution, no silver lining. The girl just has cancer, and that’s it.
But then again, maybe it was the perfect way for Silver’s journey to end. I mean, hasn’t she been consistently dumped on from day one? I believe Silver might be the most unlucky character on television today, and like any good CW journalist, I gathered evidence.
So without further adieu, I present…

Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi dazzled on the arrivals carpet at Pillars 37 Studios in a curve-hugging pair of black pants topped by a strapless grey-and-black top.
Also on hand for the festivities were “Real Housewives of Miami” star Joanna Krupa, who looked lovely in a one-shouldered fluttery pink dress, and Brandi Glanville, who took to the blue carpet in a short red dress.

If Only Fools And Horses had started in the 21st century, it wouldn't have lasted for more than two series.
Let me explain. Back in the early 1980s, a brand new sitcom was written by John Sullivan, charting the misadventures of a wayward Peckham family, the Trotters. Three generations were spanned in a poky flat, which was part of Nelson Mandela House. The problem was that, when it first went out in 1981, the ratings were deemed to be on the low side. A second series went ahead, but even then, the ratings were not deemed world-shattering. If that had happened today, the show would have been axed quicker than you could shout “Mange Tout!” That's the price you pay for being with a ratings-hungry broadcaster, full of media-savvy trendies with buzzwords and balance sheets.
But luckily, a repeat season was to prove to be Only Fools And Horses' salvation. This time around,...

Congrats to Rachel Maddow, who has just signed a multi-year contract with MSNBC. Bravo has announced four new series: Around The World in 80 Plates (a cooking competition in which chefs travel to restaurants around the world), Paint This Town (gives viewers an "inside look into the lives of six young women who moved to New York City with the dream of living a chic, fashionable, art-filled existence"), Newlyweds: The First Year (six newly-married couples have their lives filmed), and Thicker Than Water: The Marinos, which I'm not even gonna bother with. In Squee!-worthy news, Syfy is set to renew Warehouse 13 for a fourth season. Even with the failure of Green Lantern, Warner Bros. is discussing bringing The Flash to the big screen. Popwatch has some advice. Personally. I think they'll be hard-pressed to find a replacement for John-Wesley Shipp
