OK, did not see THAT coming
cpotato10106 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Sticking with just the episode notes and TV commercials, there was no warning that one of the main cast members would be leaving.

And in the harshest way possible!

I will miss Lucas Black. He brought a lot of energy to his role and the show. Although sometimes they had him go too far, behaving like a rabid dog. But I think that is on the writers and directors, not Lucas.

All of the NCIS shows have survived cast changes. If the main NCIS show can survive the loss of Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, this show can survive the loss of Lucas Black. True, it will be strange, but I will still keep watching.

As for the episode, at least they closed out the story-line of Lasalle and his murdered brother, even if it seemed a little anti-climatic.

I do wish Lucas well, it looks like he may be reprising his role of "Sean Boswell" on the next Fast & Furious movie.

Sudden, but not unexpected
kevinmorice7 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The NCIS:NOLA writers seem fairly (maybe overly) comfortable with writing out central characters, and doing it in a rush when contracts or personal complications get in the way. They have been trying to rebuild the team over the years and have sidelined LaSalle for a long time so it is unfortunately no great loss for him to leave the show.

The heart of what a TV series is all about
akicork25 April 2021
I have a firm feeling that the success of any television series, including police procedurals, relies on the interaction of the characters (main and secondary) even more than its reliance on good strong episodic and series arc stories. Here we have a vivid illustration of that idea. The family (and the scriptwriters here have drafted in Christopher's stepmother in the background!) are all here and grieving.

The audience (a large proportion anyway) knows their pain from personal experience and generally feels it. We all feel part of the experience, That's what makes the show work. The "crime of the week" is of little relevance here. Those who give this a low rating just aren't tuned in to the real ethos of the show. This is one of the best ever.

LaSalle

Warning: Spoilers
Lot of these type shows roll on after losing a main character. I suspect NCIS New Orleans might as well but losing LaSalle is huge to me.It will not be the same.He was my favorite cast member.

Matthew 5:9

Warning: Spoilers
A bit of a shocking exit, although not surprising if you realize what they had been doing with the character the last few episodes.

This show has had some significant cast shakeups and I don't think this was the right move, but it was a solid exit episode.

Good News or Bad News?
AdollAdishAbone29 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Well, there is only good news - my 10/10 rating isn't for this episode's story, I give this episode a perfect score because it is LaSalle's final episode. I like. Lucas Black as an actor but LaSalle is just a bad character who, I feel, dragged the overall potential of this show way down. Show got soooooooo much better after his departure. Kudos to Lucas for exploring new career paths and kudos to writers for giving him the send off he deserved.

Warning: Spoilers
The past two seasons episodes have gone way out in left field with all the hoodoo. The show runners seem like they want the show to tank. Gary Glasberg would have kept it in line, it's started going down hill after he died. The only thing done right is someone on the show knows what a dying/dead body looks like. LaSalle actually looked like he was dead. Much like this show.

Well
jessica-kell15 August 2022
I was heartbroken that LaSalle was killed off even though it was Lucas Black's decision to leave. I usually steer clear of any show or movie where my home state is the location. Mainly because it's been way overdone as a place of imbeciles who eat weird things and speak funny. At first the character of LaSalle irked me with that accent until I learned he was from Alabama both on and off script. He grew on me as did the series. Even without LaSalle the show was a favorite of mine and I'm still in disbelief that it was canceled. It was as true as possible when it comes to city corruption, voodoo and superstitions. Far fetched to most but pretty true.

Pride, The Geek and Coroner, That's It.
PartialMovieViewer24 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show had potential, sadly, PC slowly eats it from the inside. Lucas has a very rare trace rarely seen in cop shows, he has a very likable personality. I don't know what the real story for his leaving is, but to assume it's his family - I have to doubt it. It's too bad to see this guy go. I really liked him. The only characters left are the geek, the coroner and Pride - the rest - meh.

Bad decision
dafrench636 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I get Lucas wanted to leave to spend time with his family, and I commend him for his decision. However, the show runners totally blew it with the decision to kill off his character. His character has been misused for a while now. When Pride was going through his issues the last few years Christopher should have been put in charge of the team. Instead they brought someone new in. Now, they had the perfect opportunity to correct this by allowing him to find his brother's killer then he could have gotten a promotion and his own team somewhere else and left the show that way. But, now it's permanent and I am done. I did not even finish the episode. I deleted it and deleted the series recording from the DVR. I have watched from the beginning and enjoyed quite a lot but what is being done with characters now is just unbelievable to me.

Thanks for the memories. Peace!

I'm Done!!!
jdgtc17 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Lucas Black has been the heart of the show, for the past six seasons. The way in which the writers chose to write off LaSalle's character is unconscionable.

I have been unhappy with the story lines for awhile. It's time for this series to end.

I sure hope it is because Lucas got a better offer! Took me a while to warm up to him, but you just wrote off my favorite character.

Poor episode
ak202023 August 2020
Without introducing a "Spoiler" I can't explain my headline: suffice to say that the main NCIS story takes only a small proportion of the 41 minutes allocated.

Horrible Episode
kathleenjurey6 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They literally dragged out Cade's case for this outcome?! No wonder the show ended less than a season later. Did he want to leave? It seemed very abrupt and tossed into the investigation of his brothers murder. The show went DOWNHILL after they killed off Christopher.

Really poor script writing
jollyskiem-315557 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was always a big fan of NCIS NOLA but the last few seasons were really hard to keep going. The hospital scenes are woeful. Amongst the fact Lasalle would have had more than oxygen nasal prongs and a single IV peripheral cannula, there is no way in hell they would call time of death after a couple of minutes trying to revive him. They would work on him a LOT longer than that (said as someone who has worked on resus teams many, many times). And why do they even bother trying to add excitement by using the paddles and insist on saying someone's in VF and shock them when the monitor is clearly showing flatline? If you're not going to make the scenes remotely realistic then why bother. Lasalle was great though. I was sad to see him go. Sebastian is just annoying and there is no way he would make it into the REACT team. Tammy is fine but once they left the team with only Tammy, Sebastian, Hannah, carter and pride it was time to go. Not even Scott bakula could hold the dead weight the show had become.

Unprecedented?
CrimeDrama13 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Has there ever been a crime drama in which an original character (Chris LaSalle) is killed off but not before his father dies and his brother is murdered? Why not have LaSalle's mom die too? Surely this was not the original path for LaSalle. Maybe Lucas Black wanted out of his contract immediately. I find it to be very strange.
