Oh sh**, here we go again.

Warning: Spoilers
The season started in a very bad way including acting, writing etc.. But, it improved a little bit each episide till episode 16 "through the looking glass" which was the season's peak.. After the quarantine, "the curve" of the episodes went down, which is not good this time. BAD WRITING killed the finale. Sacrificing mouse is not a good idea as he was, along with Alice, the best actors in this season. The last scene gaves me hope that we will see the REAL Dark Knight next season.. If there's a one. Overall season rating? 6 out of 10.. And all six points goes for Alice character.

A Clunky Episode that Bodes Well for the Future
KookShanty18 May 2020
This episode had some exciting stuff, a cool villain (maybe he overacted a bit) many shocking moments, and intrigue towards next season, but it was filled with plot holes and things that didn't make any sense at all, which took a lot away from the episode. Hopefully with the large turnaround time towards next season, they will be able to think through the plot a little bit better.

Season One Review
southdavid7 September 2020
The latest Berlanti-verse show is the first one to start during my reviewing phase, so by my convoluted reviewing rules, I have to review this first season. For the record I also watch "Flash", "Supergirl" and "Legends of Tomorrow" at the moment . . . which is fortunate, because this is largely the same formula as the others.

Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) returns to Gotham following the disappearance of her cousin Bruce Wayne. Her father Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) is the head of The Crows, a private security company that has begun stepping in where the corruption of the GCPD has gone too far. The Kane's suffered a childhood trauma when Kate's mother and sister were killed in a childhood car accident. Searching the Wayne tower building, Kate manages to access the Batcave there, and with the help of Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), son of Lucius, takes of the mantle of caped crusader.

This is very much the same show as the other superhero films in this DC universe, Batwoman battles a specific villain each episode whilst feeding into an overall season arc against a bigger villain, in this case - the show's highlight - Rachel Skatsten as "Alice" from the Alice In Wonderland villain group that Batman inexplicably seems to have. Over the course of the run, Batwoman's circle of friends who know her secret widens - as it has with Supergirl and The Flash, and they begin to help with missions. (If this stays true to form then they too will soon start to get their own suits and powers to hit the streets alongside her).

The reason this show has such lower scores than are, I suspect twofold. One is the rallying of a million keyboard losers against anything with a woman in it, let alone a homosexual woman. The second is the far more justifiable reason that Ruby Rose isn't a very good actress. She's incapable of imbuing Kate Kane with any emotion and, though I understand that she's battled through a series of injuries, and should be commended for that, I'm looking forward to Javicia Leslie taking over in the second season.

Though I'd argue that "Legends" variety and humour makes it a touch better than the other series in this world, "Batwoman" isn't actually any better or worse than the rest of the Berlanti-verse.

Batwoman ends its freshman run with a huge unpredictable twist!

Warning: Spoilers
The first season of Batwoman had quite a bumpy ride. It is fair to say that the second half of the season far outweighs the first half. I had quite a love-hate relationship with the first season. Putting aside my overall feelings of the season as a whole, this episode had quite a solid finale, even though it was never intended to be the proper season finale of the show.

The dynamic between Luke and Mary in this episode was great and further proves how Mary is an integral part of the Bat team. During the first half of the season, Mary was rather an annoying and cringeworthy character, but that completely changed when she joined the Bat team. I love the back and forth banter between Mary and Luke. Could they be more than just friends/work colleagues?

The subplot of the episode featured Alice and Mouse having a disagreement on how to handle Batwoman. Mouse intended to leave Gotham, but Alice does not want to be alone and needs his guidance and company to kill the Bat. She does not want to admit to Mouse that she needs him. In a surprising turn of events, Alice hosts a farewell party for Mouse, only to poison him afterwards. This showcases how deranged and mentally unstable Alice is. She killed her "brother" and dearest friend just to succeed with killing Batwoman.

The twist at the end of the episode was unexpected and shocking. Alice held her end of the bargain and crafted a new face for Tommy Elliott, otherwise known as Hush. His new face makes him look exactly like Bruce Wayne. This opens up a variety of questions. Will Bruce Wayne return to Gotham, knowing that someone is impersonating him? How did Alice manage to craft an exact replica of Bruce Wayne's face?

The villain of the week was Titan who has the ability to sustain multiple heavy head injuries and has two swords as weapons. He kind of reminds me of Bronze Tiger from Arrow. Titan was quite a generic villain of the week. The final battle between Batwoman and Titan was nowhere near the highlight of the episode.

A major complaint I have with the last couple of episodes was how Jacob Kane's character is handled and set up. His stance on Batwoman feels a little out of the blue. He was fine with Batwoman for the majority of the season. Now all of a sudden he wants to arrest her. This storyline feels quite repetitive too. It was already done on Supergirl, the Flash and Arrow.

To conclude, Batwoman ends its first season with a huge cliffhanger that will immediately propel it into season 2. I am intrigued to see how Tommy Elliott will perform as Bruce Wayne and if his return will arise suspicion. I am enthused to see the live action version of the comic book character Safiyah. I doubt she will be romantically involved with Kate Kane, just like in the comics. How will Safiyah enact her revenge on Julia Pennyworth and Alice?

Final verdict: 8.2/10

Worst show in decades
nlmike4 January 2021
I cannot even express how bad this show is. Amazed it wasn't cancelled. Politics no doubt.

Just to say, nothing wrong wrong with strong female characters and there are plenty shows and movies. But this made it a complete mockery and an insult.

This is an embarrassment. Seeing parts, reviews online and the trailer actually made me angry. That never happened before.....
