Slow Burner Mysteries aren't for everyone, and that's OK
Hzs_711 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I find myself looking forward to each Sunday when more layers of this mystery will be pulled back to finally reveal all. It's highly stylized, character driven, slow burner mystery at its finest. You either like this genre or you don't, and by four episodes in, most people will know. It's OK to not like it; there's no need to write angry reviews bashing the genre. But hey, to each their own.

Also, I agree with other reviewers that the Siobhan stuff seemed a little bit tangential this week. I hate to say it, but I think she might get targeted by the killer. I think in any case, there will be a reason so much focus has been on her arc.

I'm obsessed.

Warning: Spoilers
What great writing. For someone like me who adores slow detective mystery dramas, this show is legit paradise.

The acting is absolutely incredible. This show single handedly is making Kate Winslet one of my fave actors ever. I've been following Angourie Rice's career ever since 'The Nice Guys', and I'm so amazed of how far she's come.

I wish I could speed up time till next Sunday just to watch the next episode. Got a few theories of my own as to who is what. Excited to see if they pan out.

From Argentina Warning: Spoilers
I am getting more and more interested in guessing WHO is behind all the disappearances of the girls.

(The priest is too obvious)

I think some other one will give us the surprise.

I hope not to be disappointed like I was when ''The Undoing'' ended.

I give a 9 to this episode and continue to looking forward to the next one on Sunday 16th.

This is my Mare

Warning: Spoilers
It was so sweet and sad that Dawn didn't tell Freddy's sister about him when she came back. Poor Dawn.

The fact that there were bell tolls at the very end when the screen went black makes me think it's Mare's cousin. The suspicious deacon seems too obvious now?

Intriguing

Warning: Spoilers
Am loving this series very much although a little slow with side stories. I also don't believe it's the priest - too convenient. What about the writer guy, who hasn't been in the area very long? He has all these women hanging around him because of his book but for some reason seems attracted/obsessed with Mare. Why? Anyway I can't wait until the next episode tomorrow!

Bombshell
Calicodreamin12 July 2022
This show is really good at making cliffhanger endings but this episode takes the cake, wow what a bombshell. Good storyline development and incredible acting.

Very funny and very depressing at the same time
gedikreverdi16 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Katie has been held prisoner in a dilapidated place and that man put another girl to her "cell". It's hilarious how Mare reacted to her mother's being taken to the hospital over a scratch on the forehead. This episode is very dark and depressing with Dawn's hopelessness but it gets very funny with Mare's mother.

[7.6] You praise those, ...
cjonesas9 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A developing episode with the usual mumbo jumbo, nice acting, some good development, some emotional flashbacks, but again with a dismal flow and that's it!

A sure contender for possibly one of the slowest development ever with any action thrown from the top of a skyscraper. In general, it's so bad that the few good, interesting moments and scenes are dissolved in the soporific acid.

Still giving it a near 8, cause it's trying and deadly deep... You don't agree with me? No problem, everybody has a specific taste. Just please, check out the Scandinavian Noir genre, which while having its own sorta slow pace, keeps you at the edge of your seat, cause their mix of screenplay, flow and development are just shiny and worthy. You praise those even if reluctant in your friction-ed mind.

Suspense thriller turns into a drama mystique
etherealreviews12 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The last two episodes focuses more on character development and emotional drama that at the moment doesn't seem to help progress the story. Sure, it's nice to carve out these little details but it does seem to veer the course of the murder mystery a bit.

Nevertheless, this is solid writing and backed by stellar performances. Mare's flashback is glimpsed for the first time and new developments propel the story forward. It's a slow burner but an enjoyable one. Given that there are only three more episodes, I hope the rest of the season picks up the pace. I believe it will, given the nature of the ending. The story is about to get whole lot of traction.

Excited for the final epsiodes!

This episode felt a bit like a spin-off

Warning: Spoilers
Loving the show up until now. But like, 20min of this episode felt like completely unecessary, I also felt like the dialogue here had a decay compared to the previous 3. The plot is still intriguing and I'm looking forward for the conclusion, but I hope next episode is more like the previous ones (great dialogue, pace and every scene maters).

Sorry. Still not buying into the love fest on this. To me it just comes across as long slow stretches of over done character acting. Punctuated by 5 minutes of intrigue. It's formulaic to the extreme. I'm honestly bored with it.

SOME improvements, but only some
grondonamanu26 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Siobhan's storyline is completely out of place, if it is completely irrelevant for the ending I will lower my score, but I must say... the scene where Helen (Mare's mother) gets hit by the door was absolutely HILARIOUS, I LOVE Jean Smart's character.

They keep making mistakes with some scenes with no sense. Why is the guy from the hospital WALKING? Like no, you were shot in the chest a few days ago, but he is walking like nothing happened. He should be death btw. What happened with the guy who shot him?? Is he in prison? They didn't keep showing him after questioning him.

What it's sad about this show is that it is FULL OF STEREOTYPES. Oh, a weird guy is kidnapping young girls in a small town, groundbreaking. The werid and rapist father? Church trying to cover everything? Try harder!

What's positive about this episode is that we get to see a little bit about Mare's son, that scene was very powerful and beautifully acted, I really liked it.

Not for the faint hearted.
nachobosio13 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It was way too dark, I get that it's not a fairy tale what so ever, I've watched tons of series and movies that were pretty hard to finish, but this episode out eclipsed all of them.

I'll continue watching but I might need a break.

As one reviewer stated, this is definitely not for everyone.

Keeps slowing down...but I'll give it another shot
tikimugmike11 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Just SO painfully slow. Siobhan's side story is so irrelevant and is ruining the show for me. I wish it was more investigative focused at times. The acting is the only reason I keep watching. If it gets any slower or sidetracks any further I'll have to give up.

Everything is wrong. Doesnt feel realistic in the least nor are they putting in the time and effort or have talent to make it the least bit plausible. Its melodramatic and stupid and nothing happens thats emotionally impactful or interesting in the least.
