This episode was really more in line with the original Leverage. Not because of fake Nate, although he really did add to the flavor of this episode. Somehow the characters were more - well - in character here after the season finally feels confident it has successfully intro'd the nkotb (plural) and phased Breanna into a less forefront and less combative role. I don't dislike her, but it took me a few episodes to forgive the writers for giving her those bigoted lines in the casino episode, and it seemed just too far-fetched for her to be coming up with all the best options for the jobs. I also feel they are trying too hard to make her think and act like Hardison, who we all know can't be replaced. Other than that, the season is living up to the original series in many ways but still loved the original best -- and that final episode clearly had Parker taking over, so I'm still looking for that aspect. But other than the poor makeup work on our aging stars, I love the additional talents Parker is exhibiting as well as the always adorable characteristics of Sophie and Elliot. Best of the new season so far.

Slightly better than most of the other episodes

It seems like there are a lot of charitable Leverage fan boys out there because this absolutely does not deserve anything above a 7/10. I'm a huge fan as well but I'm intellectually honest with myself and this episode is just not THAT good. And I padded my rating a lot just out of nostalgia.
As a general statement, the original series was somewhat campy and silly but they still managed to put in enough thought to make most episodes relatively believable. Redemption is just too far out there and this episode has plenty of insanity, just like the previous ones. It's like you're watching a children's cartoon, with a constant barrage of CRAZY designed to keep a child's attention. Bummer.

Great Eliot Moments

After initial concern about a "Fake Nate," I loved this episode! It is among my top 8 favorite #LeverageRedemption episodes thus far. :-) To avoid spoilers, I will just say that, as a #Kaniac, I appreciated seeing "Crazy Eliot," "Romantic Eliot," and #EliotSpencer showing he does more than "hit people and flip his hair." Funny, fantastic moments in this episode. Nice work, #Christian Kane!
On the edge of my seat

I'm so happy to see Leverage back as Leverage Redemption. Wish Hardison was in more of the episodes, but not surprised as Aldis Hodge's career is booming right now. Hated "fake Nate" at first, but the episode turned out great.
So glad most of the cast has returned. Leverage=wonderful cast. Great foundational premise, was the best show on TV. SO happy it's back as Leverage Redemption! Noah Wylie is a terrific addition to the cast.

Okay. First of all, one of the best of all the Leverages, because of the concept, not because of the writing. The premise is a home run. The execution of the premise makes it to third base before the inning is over. Here is why. Joey Slotnick was almost the perfect actor for the part. Kevin Sussman is the perfect actor for the part. Big Bang is over, and "Stuart" is available for TV series producers. Use him. Make him the new Nate. And he knows nothing. Perfect. THAT is the idea. Think... "The Man Who Knew Too Little" with Bill Murray. That movie was a ten, and the writing was perfect. And I don't say that about many movies.
Back To Leverage Redemption episode EIGHT. Okay really the plot here is secondary to the common guy posing as the Mastermind of a superhero secret group of avengers. He is so not qualified for the position, but is put in that position. Brilliant. Unfortunately, the writers never took advantage of the premise. There was a lot more milk in this cow. Imagine if he constantly bumbled along in snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
I say make him the new Nate Ford. Give him an external reputation. He is the "pretty girl magician's assistant." That is, make him the distraction while the expert crew works at what it does best. They front him to take on all the public personna, but he can't do the job to save his life. His crew always saves the day for him, and the bad guys are always left with the impression he is a criminal genius, tough, thinks on his feet, and is never to be toyed with. I would watch that show for ten years.
Let's do this. May have just solved the "what the hell do we do now without Timothy Hutton" problem. Otherwise, the show is a headless snake. Sophie is likable and competent as a leader, but still miss the driving force of a Nate. And Parker, Breanna, and Elliot were never meant to be the leaders. It's not what they do. By their talents, they can never be the masterminds. I think the missing invisible mastermind in the current show is exactly what is missing. It's what will keep this show from doing five new seasons of episodes. The current premise is not credible. The snake has no head.
