If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.
Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.
Hmm, here’s an interesting matchup: Glee will be in Hall H on Sunday at 10:00; Supernatural will be...

The second update but absolutely not the last. We have yet to hear from the major networks, Syfy, TNT or USA about their panels. More to the point, we have yet to hear from Comic-Con, at least as to the official schedule.
As you may know, they resold the returned 4-day passes on Friday, and those sold out within a couple of hours. It likely only took that long because only a certain number of people could be purchasing at one time. Returned one day tickets will go on sale shortly; if you’re interested in attempting to be amongst the lucky few who will achieve tickets, you must be following Comic-Con on Twitter for the latest updates
Information added to this update includes Locke & Key, Dexter, Shameless, Homeland, Archer, Wilfred, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy, Shark Night 3D, Haywire, The Raven, Immortals, Thanks to THR...

Woo Hoo! Comic-Con 2011 info is really starting to flow! As a veteran attendee, one of the most exciting things I’ve seen are the blurbs that come out on the official schedule, being released early by studios! First out of the gate for that appears to be from Warner Bros. Television Group. The panel blurbs, along with the dates, times, and room numbers, have been released in a statement. For this post we scrapped the previous format in favor of Comic-Con’s format whenever that information is available. Here we go!

You definitely haven't seen Christian Serratos in the "Twilight" series wearing the kind of makeup she put on for a Black Keys video in her feed this week. She and Danny Masterson both sported some new looks and posted pics.
The big trending topic in international news today, though, was WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange getting granted bail in London, where Michael Moore stepped in and got personally involved. His reaction to the situation and a roundup of Golden Globe nomination chatter have been retweeted for you after the jump.

Two years ago we reported that Marvel had tapped the famous animation studio Madhouse to create four anime series for release in 2010, the first two of which would be based on Wolverine and Iron Man. The anime projects are being written by renowned writer Warren Ellis (who most recently wrote the highly acclaimed G.I. Joe: Resolute web shorts). The one-minute opening title sequence for the Iron Man anime series has now appeared on YouTube, and you can watch it now embedded after the jump. The first episode premiered at Comic-Con in July, and here is an excerpt from AnimeNewsNetwork's Review: Madhouse went with a shiny, sharp look for its characters, one slightly less exaggerated than the pointy style used in their Highlander anime film, and it's not terribly far from the typical realistic anime style seen in, say, the recent Golgo 13 series. Tony looks strangely lean, however, as though...

Justin Bieber's newly announced 3-D biopic from director Davis Guggenheim turned some heads on Twitter today. It was just one part of a shock-and-awe day of tweets that included Christopher Mintz-Plasse trying out a new look and reactions to reports that Brett Favre may not be back next season in the NFL (which has come to be a Twitter-Wood annual event).
Elsewhere, Russell Brand tried to calm his followers after a Lamborghini he was driving was involved in an accident. Find out how he describes the incident after the jump where you'll also see what Elizabeth Banks thought of "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World."

Now that Apple's new iPhone 4 is official, Twitter discussions about the device are likely to get a lot more lively before it comes out at the end of the month. Simon Pegg and Warren Ellis both took notice, though the two of them may not be excited for the same reasons.
In other posts, we already knew that the MTV Movie Awards were trending, but the "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" trailer that showed up there caught some eyes too. Steve Agee wants into a screening pass pronto from director Edgar Wright who himself was quite entertained by Tom Cruise's performance at the MTV Ma's as Les Grossman. One of the greatest things about The Super Bowl is its ability to bring together folks from all walks of life in a celebration of teamwork. It's not unlike the theme of "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" and its comic book offspring in that regard, demonstrating how a group of spirited individuals can work together to achieve victory over their rivals (or in the case of the Joe team, evil terrorists).
This embodiment of teamwork should come as no surprise, especially considering the accomplishments of Joe soldiers with football roots.
Read on to learn how football has inspired some of the greatest G.I. Joe characters of all time.

Even if "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" wasn't universally embraced by longtime fans of the cartoon, comic book and action figure franchise, those very fans at least had the earlier release of "G.I. Joe: Resolute" — an animated movie written by Warren Ellis — to latch onto.
In fact, the idea of a sequel to "Resolute" is probably more exciting to a lot of fans than a sequel to "Rise of Cobra." While details are still unclear regarding further installments of both projects, it appears that some sort of new animated adventure is in the works for the "G.I. Joe" series.
The Moonbase 2 podcast recently interviewed Michael Bell, the voice actor behind Duke, Major Bludd, Lift-Ticket and other characters from the original "G.I. Joe" television series. During the interview, Bell dropped something of a bombshell by revealing that he'd just auditioned for a role in a new "Joe" series.

(Guest Movie Review by Dedpool) In case you missed it when it was being aired on the internet, and again when Cartoon Network aired it at a midnight showing, “G.I. Joe: Resolute” was an 11 episode animated series based on the cartoons and comics of the 1980’s. It was written by Warren Ellis, directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, and produced by Sam Register. And it was absolutely amazing and it’s the superior of the G.I.Joe releases that hit DVD on November 3. I’ve seen them both and well you’ll just have to keep reading to find out more. Well I’ll start off saying I enjoyed Stephen Sommers’ “G.I.Joe: Rise of Cobra.” I also enjoyed Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen.” Both could’ve have been much better, and “G.I.Joe” definitely had more potential and more done right than “Transformers 2,...

Director Stephen Sommers might want to discourage the production of animated lead-ups to his feature films. They keep outdoing the movies they're supposed to set up for audiences.
Before his Van Helsing reached theaters in 2004, Universal released Van Helsing: The London Assigment. Written by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, the animated half-hour was clever and action-packed. Van Helsing? It was not clever and action-packed.
Now, the DVD release of G.i. Joe: Resolute, an 11-episode series of animated shorts that originally aired on Adult Swim before the release of Rise of Cobra, brings a cooler and more visually compelling "Yo, Joe!" to screens.

The biggest disappointment about G.I. Joe: Resolute is the fact that it is only 58 minutes long. If you are already a fan of the classic G.I. Joe cartoons or the franchise, this is a film you simply don.t want to end. Written by Warren Ellis and directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Resolute grounds the Joes/Cobra story in reality (or as close to it as the franchise has ever come), and delivers a story that is aimed at the adult fan (there is quite a bit of blood spilling and killing for this to be considered a kids. film). For the story, Ellis takes all of the classic G. I. Joe elements (Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow feud; Cobra Commanders ranting;...

Warner Bros. have clinched the rights to remake the 1981 fantasy film “Excalibur,” with “X-Men” director Bryan Singer signed to produce and develop the picture as a potential developing vehicle. According to Variety, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have been working for months to secure the rights to the film, which Singer will produce with Julie Yorn and “Superman Returns” producer Polly Johnsen (formerly Cohen).
Excalibur was the ultimate fantasy film based on the Arthurian legend of Merlin the wizard, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, it grossed $34,967,437 and was the 18th most successful film of that year. The film was directed by John Boorman and adapted from the Thomas Malory book by Rospo Pallenberg and Boorman. The film broke out some of today’s biggest stars and starred Nigel Terry, Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart, Nicholas Clay, Cherie Lunghi, Nicol Williamson and Robert Addie.

Back on July 28 we reported that writer Warren Ellis (G.I. Joe: Resolute) had posted a message on his official blog, stating that he was writing a film treatment for an 'Untitled Arthurian Project', which he also referenced as 'Excalibur'.
While there's been no further word on that front, it caught our eye yesterday when Variety reported that Warner Bros. and Bryan Singer are, in fact, developing a remake of John Boorman's 1981 film Excalibur, the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable.
According to the trade, the project is still in the early stages, with Warners only tying up the remake rights, which it shares with Boorman. Singer's involvement is still in the talking stage and Legendary Pictures may come aboard the project.
If deals are made, Singer would produce with Julie Yorn. Former Warner executive Polly Johnsen (formerly Cohen) would also produce.

Warren Ellis, the writer of the recent animated movie G.I. Joe: Resolute, has revealed he is scripting a new Arthurian movie.
The project will be produced by Hollywood Gang, which previously co-produced Zack Snyder's 300 and optioned Ellis's graphic novel Ocean.
On his website the writer and novelist says he is penning a treatment which he calls 'Untitled Arthurian Project' and which the production company has called Excalibur.
Ellis (pictured above) was cautious about any comparisons with the earlier Arthurian epic of that name and told Ain't It Cool News his script "differs from the prior 751 King Arthur movies in many ways, but perhaps most obviously in that it is very specifically about the gathering of the Knights."
Ellis's credits also includes the Astonishing X-Men and Ultimate Fantastic Four comic books along with many other titles. He's also providing the storylines for new anime-styled Wolverine and Iron Man cartoons to air on Japanese TV.

The writer of the recently released animated movie G.I. Joe: Resolute - one Warren Ellis - is now working on a new project, an untitled Arturian project going by the name of Excalibur!
The news comes directly from the writer’s website as follows:
I was actually cleared to talk about this at San Diego, but all the press I did there was Japanese-oriented for the Marvel Anime deal… so I’m going to mention it here, to say I did, and to maybe make up for that by giving the comics news sites something to post post-sdcc.

Writer Warren Ellis (G.I. Joe: Resolute) has posted a cryptic message on his official blog, stating that he is writing a film treatment for an 'Untitled Arthurian Project'.
The scribe added that he's writing it for producers who worked on 300, and that they are titling this mysterious project 'Excalibur'.
He links to a Wikipedia page for the 1981 Excalibur film, which starred Helen Mirren, Gabriel Byrne, Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart and Nigel Terry as King Arthur.
Directed by John Boorman, the 1981 fantasy retold the legend of King Arthur and grossed $34.9M.
Whether or not this means an Excalibur remake is in the works is anybody's guess, but the trail certainly seem to lead in that direction.
We'll keep you posted on any further developments if and when they arrive.

The new trailer for G.I. Joe was released today. It looks like ass, but I guess there's no surprise there. This movie has been getting slammed online from day one, and the first theatrical trailer fails to remedy any of that. Maybe the trailer would be better if it's set to the tune of "America, F--k Yeah!"

There is a silver lining to this, however, and it's called G.I. Joe: Resolute.
The web series debuted online two weeks ago and was aired as an hour-long movie on Adult Swim last Saturday. It was created to coincide with the release of the live-action movie, but ended up, as it tends to happen with these things, looking better than the main product. Hasbro has released its first batch of episodes for the greatly anticipated animated web series, G.I. Joe Resolute. With the exception of the finale, each episode of the series is being released by Cartoon Network on AdultSwim.com, with the first episode posted online April 17. The series, penned by comic-book writer Warren Ellis, is a darker, edgier version of the classic cartoon. G.I. Joe: Resolute will aim for a PG-13 rating and try to appeal to older fans who watched the original TV show back in the 80s.

By now you’ve probably seen that bootleg footage from the animated “G.I. Joe: Resolute” penned by comic book scribe Warren Ellis. If not, then you should go there and see it now. It’s very cool. It’s at least 10 times cooler than anything I’ve seen from the live-action movie so far. Now we have official air dates for the animated series, which will air both online and on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim (their adult-oriented line-up). Hint: the first 5 minutes goes up on AdultSwim.com tomorrow! Via Hasbro: Beginning on April 17, fans will be able to see the first five minutes of the brand new, stand-alone animated mini-series on AdultSwim.com. These episodes are broken down to ten 5-minute episodes and one 10-minute finale. Following the first episode on April 17, subsequent installments will be posted on the Adult Swim website leading up to a full presentation of the entire series.
