Seems like season 1-3 writers are proper back
Turanic7 January 2022
The whole episode is a joy, some really important action happens, then everyone faces the consequences, the last scene with Drummer is a complete joy, you are on your toes...

Great if it weren't penultimate
guillermo7513 January 2022
This episode would have been great if it hadn't introduced an almost completely new plot line we had only had previews about, while still being the next-to-last episode in what was, up to now, one of the best sci-fi series ever made.

It's hard to rate it because it was good on its own. But there is no way they can wrap this up in the last episode unless we have a feature film coming that I'm unaware of.

One of the best and best-written seasons of the series.
angelo-brunodiantedotron7 January 2022
People are watching this season with the wrong expectation. This season is not about ending the whole story, it's simply the end of the conflict with Marco. The bits of history we see from Laconia are just an introduction to something that will be worked on later. So the last ep isn't going to solve everything, it's just going to solve the war with Marco and leave loose ends for the future. This is just the end of the "second trilogy" of the series.

The "last trilogy" (last three books), we'll have to wait and hope to be adapted.

Good but there's a big problem
kinmg8 January 2022
To say it's bad would be lying because I enjoyed the episode and the whole season aswell so far. And everything would be fine if we were in the middle of a 13 episodes season, but the thing is : we're not, there's only one episode left. So I appreciate the fact that they're not rushing things and taking the time to develop the plot and the characters, but with one episode left I'm a bit worried. Is it enough to wrap everything up in a worthy show finale? Honestly I don't think so but we shall see next week. I'm praying for the announcement of a season 6 part 2 or a movie when the credits rolls, but I know damn well it won't happen.

Easily one of the best for this season.
bharat87667 January 2022
For those who want just boom boom then you won't like this episode. It's a carefully crafted episode. Yes, at times it does feel a bit rushed, but then there are some really good moments, like between Amos and Bobbie. We have got enough screen time for our favorite characters, Avasarala, Drummer, Amos, Bobbie. Avasarala and Drummer are my favourite, every frame they are in, is just epic. Both are strong, admirable characters and when they finally meet, it was a scene to behold.

Enough buildup for the finale. Hoping that they would pull it off in a grand manner.

Best Episode of THIS Season
jp-2068 January 2022
Heavy on Avasarala, Drummer, with a good sized helping of Bobbie and Amos. Needs more Peaches. I really thought Naomi was going to cry and was getting ready to drink. Story moved forward a bit. Dialog was decent.

Marcos was in man bun mode, more mumbling. I had no idea what he said. He moved an eyebrow and he has designer stubble so it must have been menacing. His dialog wasn't important to the story. Sidekick Rizzo is horribly smarmy and Filip did his usual blank, vacant stare with mouth agape. Marcos' and Army deserve better actors to be believable. I can't believe those three were hired to act.

But Drummer and Avasarala? SPOT ON. Bobbie and Amos? On target.

What happened to Holden's head? It seems like they either shrunk his body or blew up his head. Maybe.

I want more!
yceeyess8 January 2022
1 more episode left, and I want more! I want 20 more to come!

Is frustrating that they choose to do only a 6 eps final season. I cant explain how much this series means to me and how beautiful it is, this episode was by far one of the best!

And So It Goes
Hitchcoc8 January 2022
HiSo after nearly six full seasons, we come to the end. It is hard for me to imagine wrapping up everything that has happened in a lousy 45 minutes. While alliances are being made, they offer little forward. This is just a filler comment as I wait for next week and fnality.

The Best of Drummer
mfrme9 January 2022
For hard core sci-fi fan this episode probably has too much of talking and too less action, however, a well-written script to align all major characters towards the ending. I especially impressed by the part regarding Drummer, giving the character even more depth and dimension, one of the best acting scene.

Smouldering
mark_hollinghurst8 January 2022
Considering nothing gets blown up, nobody is killed, this episode draws on the strength of the characters built by great performances by brilliant actors over time, emotion is felt, much is said without words and the wheels are set in motion for the final confrontation, best penultimate series finale I can remember.

A filler in this late moment?
marcusbarkman10 January 2022
The Expanse is, by far, the best Sci-fi out there so when I rate this episode a 7 I just compare it to what it could have been. Compared to other series the episode is still a 10.

If this season had 20 episodes, a filler like this would have been a nice way to create more depth. At this "late hour", with only one episode left, it makes me wonder what they are going for. I appreciate that they tell the story thoroughly, but is that really the way to go about it with so little screen time left? Pace is too low; the crescendo should be here already. They have so much epic material to work with, so many characters to wrap up. With everything going on, 5 more episodes is needed (at least).

Back to Form.... kind of
chidimeever9 January 2022
Finally, an episode this season where the plot actually moves. This reminded me of those Expanse episodes from Seasons 3 and earlier we all have come to love and that made most of us fans. However, this episode should really have been earlier in the season, not the penultimate episode. Now, we'll have just one episode for the final fight and to wrap things up. Not ideal. Disappointed in this season, mainly because I feel I have been wasting my time watching all the other dud filler episodes when I could have started with this and not missed much if anything.

Few events, fights and sense of wonder
lahilaastravnar9 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The combat scene around the ring has been so short than I wouldn't have understood what has destroyed the Martian ships without the terrestrial briefing of Avasarala.

Lot of words between characters, but few events shown to our eyes: Praxydex Meng's OGM from Ganimede, the clandestine transmission of Inaros technician. The story is told, not shown to spectators.

Drummer and Naomi polemize about nothing.

Too much time lost to speak. A waist of spectator time.

Another meh episode. How can they end this once great series in 1 episode?
mluinstra9 January 2022
This season, much like last season isn't very good, and this episode was more of that. It just kills me inside that this once awesome series has taken such a turn for the worse.

This episode doesn't suck but it's boring and not very good. The first 3 seasons were amazing, the 4th was alright, but seasons 5 and 6 are barely okay and boring most of the time. The energy and excitement are gone, replaced with talking and more talking. The Rocinante crew use to love being together and had fun, even when facing dangerous missions. These days it feels like they are forced to work with each other and are miserable all the time. The life has been sucked from them and the show.

There is only 1 episode left and I have no idea how they can tie everything together and answer so many questions in such a short time. The sad thing is, they had tons of time to do this but chose to waste last season and all of this season doing almost nothing!!

I'm so disappointed with how they have treated this series in the last 2 years. This was such an amazing show and it had everything going for it. I don't know if they changed all their writers or what, but it isn't the same show that I fell in love with.

I hope the last episode is good but I'm not sure how it can be considering that it will be impossible to answer so many questions and tie up so many ongoing plot lines in around 45 minutes. I miss this show.

Wasted precious time on boring dialogue
rsvp32113 January 2022
Having read the book series, why are they wasting pecious screen time on the kids and reanimation of dead things on Laconia, when it's *completely irrelevant* to the story left for the tv audience?!

More important would have been showing the Laconians building their alien proto molecule space ships!

The kids in the book timeline are two books away from the screen progress.

Completely disappointed in this whole final season, after giving solid 10s for each of the first five :(

Jim finally makes it to Ceres.
dwwow-476547 January 2022
Another really great episode. I know some people won't be happy with the lack of spaceship battles, but it's everything I love about the expanse; strong characters, each of them going through an arch that brings us to this; the eve of the big push. The last stand. The threat is realised... Bring in the finale!

Finally a great episode again - but too late
namob-436737 January 2022
This is by far the best episode of the season. The excitement, that creepy "space" and "Alien" feel is back, the acting is top top top, and even Marcos and his gang was decently fun to see for once. We also got a great set-up, a fantastic meeting with patos, and they really hammer in the "why we fight" message. I wish people in the real world world learn to fight for what is important...

Sadly this amazing episode is too little too late. We only have the final episode left, and there is no chance in hell they can fix all the threads, finalise all the plot lines and give us satisfactory ending for all characters. It is simply not possible and that make me angry.

And again I keep wondering why we see that little girl and her pet cemetery. What is the point of that? Are we getting another season or a spin-off? If not, that whole thing is as pointless as a mask over your face.

Still this was a great episode and it seems like the show will go out with a bang. 9/10.

best episode so far this season
WordsworthStone12 January 2022
Some may say this is a filler episode but I disagree. As the penultimate to the series finale, it establishes and cements our main actors' motivations and raises the stakes of the upcoming conflict. We know that, now, every one has committed to all out war with Inaros. Drummer really deserves her own spin-off show, but I guess we have to settle for the video game (look it up).

This was solid good.
traffordbage7 January 2022
I really liked this. It still doesn't feel right being the penultimate episode with barely any major advancements but I still liked it nonetheless.

I really don't know why people cling onto the original seasons like they are "more pure". Amazon don't write or produce the final 3 seasons it's the same team but amazon is paying the bills and promoting the series.

If you don't like it then fair enough but acting like the old team was better makes no sense because they are the same people as on SyFy.

How can you give an episode like this a 3/10? Do you want to hate the show? No praise for the amazing cgi, attention to detail, acting or costume design this ep? Just all bad?

I hope next episode really goes out with a bang but it seems a lot of people are hard to please or are prepared to be unhappy no matter what.

New reference for TV writing and dialog mastery
michalklebs14 January 2022
One of the best episodes in entire series and it is mostly based on character interactions. Some of the best dialogs I've ever seen. Smart, tight and meaningful.

Just tired...
abysz-2302010 January 2022
I lose the strength to keep writing about this. Its just not good. Masive and cringy dialogue all over the place, weak plot (if there's any). Just one chapter left and millons of things to solve.

Sigh...

Big, bad, bloated.
cbsman978 January 2022
I've held my tongue with regards to this season until now. This is garbage compared to the intricate, thoughtful and realistic story told in prior seasons.

There is way too much screen time allocated to characters and plot lines that will likely not materialize into anything with one episode remaining. Unless the final, series ending, episode is 6 hours long, this will be a scar on the legacy of this show.

I'm so thoroughly disappointed in this product.

I'm really tired of watching black screens
janetch22 April 2022
The entire opening was unwatchable. Did they forget to light the set? Did only one person have a cigarette lighter to use? Directors need to remember that these "made for TV" series' and movies are watched in rooms with smaller screens and light potentially coming in from outside. Setting a mood is one thing, but almost completely black is ridiculous.

That was really dull.
saner_place7 January 2022
Just checking off having watched the episodes now. Interest in the show has ended.

Thankfully there is only one more episode left to be dissapointed by.

Were the writers for Lost (how apropriate) hired. Did all the cast go to anti-acting school during the last series? They all seem more wooden and dull than even last season, an impressive achievement.

What a waste of a great first three seasons. S4 was not great but not terrible. S5&6 were terrible, disjointed and boring.

As said before, the best thing about The Epanse now, is that is will soon end.

Solid series, but a weak final
allen_pagent8 January 2022
The powers that be really did a disservice by only having five episodes in the final season. Far too many unanswered questions at the end. No resolution to a number of the story lines.
