It’s been four years since a sequel to “Dirty Dancing” was announced, with Jennifer Grey set to reprise her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman from the 1987 original. The follow-up film was originally slated for a 2024 release, but Lionsgate pushed back its theatrical release due to last year’s Hollywood strikes.

Recently, Grey shared an update on the long-delayed “Dirty Dancing” sequel at the BFI London Film Festival premiere of her latest film, “A Real Pain.”

“I can’t tell you much about ‘Dirty Dancing’ as I’m not going to make promises,” Grey told GamesRadar+ and other reporters at the “A Real Pain” premiere in London on Sunday. “I’m just waiting for them to really nail it down as it has to be right.”

Grey also told the reporters that they can “push that aside” until the next time they speak, “when it hopefully it will all be ironed out.

“The Perfect Couple” was the perfect binge-watch, from the wtf credits dance sequence to the even more gleefully camp ending. Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Friedrich Harding is a ship merchant, which is likely a reinvention of the character played by Georg H. Schnell in the 1922 silent film version of ‘Nosferatu.’ If the actor seems familiar, it may be from his performance as Brian Tyree Henry’s twin brother Tangerine in last year’s action flick ‘Bullet Train,’ his supporting role as Pietro Maximoff in multiple Marvel movies, or his recent turn as a self-absorbed film star in ‘The Fall Guy.’

Willem Dafoe

Willem Dafoe is no stranger to playing vampires. The Academy Award-nominated actor starred in 2000’s ‘Shadow of the Vampire’ where he portrayed Max Schreck, the actor who played Nosferatu in the original silent film. You probably recognize Dafoe from some of his most famous 100+ acting credits, including last year’s ‘Poor Things’ and his two previous collaborations with Robert Eggers, ‘The Lighthouse’ and ‘The Northman.’

Ralph Ineson

The unmistakable deep voice of Ralph Ineson can be heard warning us that “he is coming.” The BAFTA Award nominee starred as Anya Taylor-Joy’s father in Robert Eggers’ first film, ‘The VVitch’ and lent his talents to the title role in A24’s ‘The Green Knight.’ You may have seen him this year as a priest on a mission in ‘The First Omen.’ In ‘Nosferatu,’ the actor will play Dr. Wilhelm Sievers, a role we can only assume will have to deal with the aftermath of the vampire’s attacks.

Bill Skarsgård

Although he is only shown as a silhouette in the trailer, Bill Skarsgård is set to star as the vampire Count Orlok, whose hunger for Ellen Hutter drives the story. Skarsgård has a history with the horror genre, playing Pennywise the clown in the two-part remake of ‘It’ and delivering a memorably unsettling performance in the indie hit ‘Barbarian.’ The Swedish actor’s horror bona fides continue to expand this year, as he takes on the role of Eric Draven in the remake of ‘The Crow.’

Emma Corrin

Also starring in ‘Nosferatu’ is Emma Corrin, known for her roles in Netflix’s “The Crown” as Princess Diana, as Darby Hart in “A Murder at the End of the World,” and in just a few weeks she’ll hit the big screen alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ In ‘Nosferatu,’ she’ll play Anna Harding, wife to Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Friedrich Harding and likely friend to Lily-Rose Depp’s Ellen Hutter.

Exclusive: Shortly after it revealed a buzzy remake of The War Of The Roses, it emerges that Adler Entertainment Trust (Aet), the production company dedicated to adapting the works of Warren Adler, is partnering with Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Todd Lieberman (The Fighter) and his production company, Hidden Pictures, on an initial two-project production deal.

Both projects under the partnership will be produced by Lieberman under his Hidden Pictures banner and will be executive-produced by Aet’s Jonathan R. Adler and Michael Adler, sons of the late author and playwright. Alex Young, Hidden Pictures President, will help oversee the partnership.

Nicholas Hoult, star of “The Great” and “Warm Bodies,” in in talks to play archvillain Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy,” TheWrap has learned.

The actor will face off against David Corenswet’s Man of Steel. He will also presumably menace and/or imperil Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane in the upcoming DC Studios tentpole.

Hoult steps into the shoes of previous actors like Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey and Jesse Eisenberg who have brought the character of Lex Luthor to life on the big screen in previous “Superman” films.

In the DC Comics, Lex Luthor fancies himself the hero in his own warped narrative, justified in abusing his genius and vast resources to clear the stage of alien interlopers like Superman. So when he debuts his latest invention—a battlesuit or deadly nanobots perhaps—the city holds its breath, knowing calamity follows in the wake of this antagonist extraordinaire.

The Man of Steel has found his arch-nemesis. Nicholas Hoult will play Lex Luthor in the upcoming James Gunn film “Superman: Legacy,” according to a report from Deadline.

IndieWire has reached out to representatives of Warner Bros. for comment.

According to Deadline, the casting process for Luthor began after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended on November 9, with casting on pause since the strike began in July. However, Hoult was in the mix for “Superman: Legacy” beforehand; the actor previously auditioned for the lead role of Clark Kent during early screen tests for the film. Hoult was one of three actors to make the final round of tests along with Tom Brittney and David Corenswet, who was ultimately cast as the lead this past June, along with “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” lead Rachel Brosnahan as Superman’s love interest Lois Lane.

We seem to have run the gamut of the zombie apocalypse film. Like the possession film, it’s getting to be more and more difficult for filmmakers to breathe new life into the sub-genre, with only a few managing to eke out moments of true inspiration. Enter Canadian filmmaking trio Rkss‘ horror comedy We Are Zombies, which introduces a world in which zombies exist, but do not crave brains or human flesh. In fact, depending on the circumstances of their death, they may still be fully functioning, and even have the ability to speak. Because of this, zombies are now second-class citizens given the politically correct label of “living-impaired,” with their civil rights constantly under attack. We’ve seen more benign zombie apocalypses like this in things like Warm Bodies, so it’s not as if this is completely original territory, but it’s still nice to see something different than the doom-and-gloom post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Nobody sets out to make a movie that will fail, be it a tiny independent production or the biggest of big blockbusters from a major studio. On the flip side, occasionally arrogance of a sort sets in and there is an element of presumed success with a film, and those projects -- more often than not -- feel doomed to fail. Such was the case with Lionsgate's 2016 big-budget fantasy play "Gods of Egypt," which bombed spectacularly upon its initial release. Yet, lofty ambitions existed as this was eyed as just the first entry in a brand new franchise. Before it all went to hell, that is.

The film, directed by Alex Proyas, cost a whopping $140 million to produce before marketing, putting it firmly in gigantic blockbuster territory. But it made a paltry $31 million in total at the domestic box office and topped out at $150 million worldwide. Per Variety, Lionsgate...

Chris McKay's new horror/comedy "Renfield" has a whimsical premise: it seems that when Count Dracula was vanquished at the end of Tod Browning's famed 1931 feature film "Dracula," he wasn't quite dead. His weaselly assistant Renfield, played in 1931 by the incomparable Dwight Frye, absconded with Dracula's remains and went into hiding. Renfield, now immortal and made powerful by eating bugs, stalked the night to find victims for his still-barely-alive vampire master. Dracula would drink blood, slowly grow back from the brink, and eventually be a whole monster once again. Once empowered, however, Dracula would go a little hog wild and being drinking the blood of nobles willy-nilly. This would inspire another round of attacks, Dracula would be vanquished once again, and the cycle would repeat.

"Renfield" catches up with Dracula (Nicolas Cage) and Renfield (Nicholas Hoult) in the modern day while Dracula is in one of his recovery periods.

Plot: Dracula’s long-suffering familiar Renfield, played by Nicholas Hoult, has finally started to acknowledge the toxic relationship that he has been in for over a hundred years. One day he meets Traffic Officer Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina), who inspires him to finally stand up to the lord of the vampires, Dracula (Nicolas Cage).

Review: Renfield is director Chris McKay’s (The Tomorrow War) blatant love letter to Dracula, with it even going so far as to recreate parts of the Universal Monsters black and white classic. It’s pretty amusing seeing Cage dressed up like Bela Lugosi in the iconic 1931 black and white horror film, with Hoult channeling Dwight Frye.

The film is a black comedy but with a surprisingly strong message about abusive relationships. Hoult plays Renfield as the victim of the ultimate narcissist, Dracula. Sure, you have your classic Dracula lines like “Renfield, come to your dark lord...

Although first inclinations might caution one to expect some wildly over-the-top performances in something like Renfield, especially given some of the talented names involved, the film manages to deliver a uniquely entertaining comedic/horror experience that never strays too far from the essence of both genres.

This modern take on the classic monster tale follows Renfield (Nicholas Hoult) as he serves as the preparer of his master’s – who happens to be Dracula (Nicolas Cage) – meals and the procurer of his other needs and wants. Now, however, after attending a support group for victims of codependency in an effort to gather victims for his master, Renfield begins to believe that perhaps there may be a life for him that doesn’t depend on his never-ending servitude to The Prince of Darkness.
