Lucy Boynton Loved Her ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Experience But “Not So Much For The Filming”

When you’re in the middle of a crisis or a distinct moment of your life that will shape your future, you’re hardly ever aware at that time. It isn’t until you’re able to take a breath and reflect that the true nature of the situation is revealed. Apparently, that extends to making films, as well. Because for actress Lucy Boynton, her experience as one of the stars of “Bohemian Rhapsody” might have been rocky while in production, but she’s now able to look back on it fondly.

Lucy Boynton Misses ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ but ‘Not So Much the Filming’ of It

Lucy Boynton Misses ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ but ‘Not So Much the Filming’ of It
It’s been nearly eight months since “Bohemian Rhapsody” racked up four Oscars at the 2019 Academy Awards — losing out on Best Picture to “Green Book.” It’s hard to say which of the two controversial films winning Hollywood’s top prize would have angered more people — though the four wins for “Bohemian Rhapsody” were perplexing enough for many. (Especially its head-scratching win for best editing.) From defending the movie’s take on Freddie Mercury’s sexuality to weathering the removal of director Bryan Singer, breakout star Lucy Boynton was put through her paces promoting the blockbuster biopic about the late “Queen” frontman, which was mired in controversy long before the Oscars.

“It’s hard, because the further away you get from it, the more [certain] moments stand out and then everything [else] all kind of blurs,” Boynton said during a recent interview. “So I can’t see it as clearly as I

Guns N’ Roses Lays Claim To Only Music Videos From The ’90s — And Now The ’80s — With 1 Billion Views

The eighties are still booming on YouTube.

Rock band Guns N’ Roses just made platform history with its black-and-white music video for "Sweet Child O' Mine," which is the first music video from the ‘80s to cross the billion-views threshold, Billboard reports. The clip sees the band simply performing the song and hanging out.

Guns N' Roses remains a massive draw on YouTube. Their music video for “November Rain,” released in 1992, is the only music video from the ‘90s to reach 1 billion views. It also previously held the record for the oldest music video to reach 1 billion views -- until it was supplanted by Queen’s "Bohemian Rhapsody, which premiered in 1975 and is widely considered to be one of the first music videos of all time. That clip saw a massive resurgence in the wake of the hit film Bohemian Rhapsody a biopic about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

The Curious Case of ‘Wonderwall’ and What It Might Say About the Future of Streaming

The Curious Case of ‘Wonderwall’ and What It Might Say About the Future of Streaming
“I’ve just done a tour in America with Smashing Pumpkins, and the sight of two goths, one in a Rancid T-shirt, one in a Kiss T-shirt, with their arms around each other, singing “Wonderwall” in Arkansas, is not something you see every day. What is it about that song? It’s crazy.”

He should know — he wrote it. Yet Noel Gallagher is bemused by the enduring cultural potency of “Wonderwall,” more so than any other song in the Oasis catalog. This was a record, remember, which failed to hit Number One in the U.

Eddie Murphy (‘Dolemite is My Name’) is rising in our Oscar odds: Here’s why we mustn’t underestimate him

Eddie Murphy (‘Dolemite is My Name’) is rising in our Oscar odds: Here’s why we mustn’t underestimate him
Eddie Murphy has been gradually rising in our Oscar odds for Best Actor for his performance in “Dolemite is My Name,” but he hasn’t yet cracked the top five in the combined predictions of the Gold Derby readers who have given us their picks here in our predictions center thus far. As of this writing he ranks seventh with 37/1 odds. However, the movie opens on October 4, and I think he may be a bigger threat than we’re giving him credit for.

The Oscar conversation for Best Actor has so far revolved around names like Robert De Niro (“The Irishman“), Adam Driver (“Marriage Story“) and Leonardo DiCaprio (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood“). But De Niro and DiCaprio already have Oscars, so there may not be a rush to award them again, and Driver is still new to the film awards scene, having just earned his first nomination earlier this year for “BlacKkKlansman,

Oscar predictions: Is ‘Joker’ a top contender for Best Picture and Actor? [Video & Audio Podcast]
“Joker” opened to record-breaking box office numbers: nearly $100 million domestically despite its gritty tone and R-rating. So how does that impact the film’s Oscar chances, if at all? Gold Derby editors Daniel Montgomery and Susan Wloszczyna track the race and debate whether the supervillain can really win over Oscar voters … again. Watch their discussion above.

“The biggest beneficiary of people seeing it and hearing about it is Joaquin Phoenix,” says Wloszczyna about how the film is trending in our odds. “Right now, among the Experts, he is tied with Adam Driver with 4/1 odds [for Best Actor].” But that doesn’t tell the whole story. While their odds are equal, there are more Experts predicting a Driver nomination (26 to 25) for his role as a man struggling through a divorce in “Marriage Story,” while there are actually more Experts predicting a Phoenix victory (11 to 10).

‘The Two Popes’: Jonathan Pryce and Anthony Hopkins face off in Fernando Meirelles drama

‘The Two Popes’: Jonathan Pryce and Anthony Hopkins face off in Fernando Meirelles drama
Fernando Meirelles‘ “The Two Popes” chronicles the efforts of the conservative Pope Benedict (Anthony Hopkins) and the liberal Pope Francis (Jonathan Pryce) to find common ground and forge a new path for the Catholic Church. This intriguing and entertaining story of two men with different ideologies is a showcase for the two veteran actors. It is a delight to see these titans of British acting go head to head and share the screen together in this film, which Netflix will release in theaters on Nov. 27, in advance of streaming starting on Dec. 20

While Hopkins is given top billing (probbly because he is the bigger name thanks to his Oscar win and three further nominations) this is very much Pryce’s picture. It tells the story of Francis from his days as a young priest and rise to cardinal in war-torn Argentina to his election as pontiff. The actor captures the

“I’ve known Joel for many years,” said Michôd. “We live two minutes’ walk from each other in Sydney and we spend a lot of time together. I didn’t know him back then, but when he was fresh out of drama school,

The Not-So-Revolutionary Road of ‘Mr. Robot’

The Not-So-Revolutionary Road of ‘Mr. Robot’
When Mr. Robot debuted in the summer of 2015, none of its individual components were clearly new. The cyberpunk drama’s then-unknown creator, Sam Esmail, readily copped to the influences of paranoid Seventies thrillers like The Parallax View. Late in that first season, the show even played a piano version of the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” as a tip of the cap to Fight Club, from which Esmail liberally borrowed the idea that his title character, played by Christian Slater, was actually an alternate personality of hacker hero Elliot Alderson

2020 Oscar Predictions: Best Actor (Updated: September 30)

2020 Oscar Predictions: Best Actor (Updated: September 30)
Historically the Best Actor Oscar has gone to men with a little grey in their hair while Best Actress is usually given to an ingenue. However, we could be seeing a shift in that bias on both sides. At the 2019 Oscars, Rami Malek (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) won Best Actor at age 37 over a past winner and three previous nominees. Casey Affleck (“Manchester by the Sea”) did likewise in 2017. (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2020 Oscars predictions for Best Actor.)

While Affleck won for a fictional role, Malek prevailed for portraying Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Of the 10 most recent Best Actor champs at the Academy Awards, seven of them won for bring life to real-life fellows: Colin Firth; Daniel Day-Lewis; Matthew McConaughey; Eddie Redmayne; Leonardo DiCaprio; and Gary Oldman.

Malek was a first-time nominee while each of his four rivals in the 2019 Best Actor race had contended multiple times at the Oscars.
