Yi Tiao Long Hu Bao is also one of three co-producers on Brazilian title “Sleep With Your Eyes Open” (aka “Dormir de olhos abertos”) directed by Nele Wohlatz, which debuts in Berlin’s Encounters section.
While the two companies will remain legally separate, the collaboration also brings together Lee Lieh, Roger Huang, and Justine O., three of Taiwan’s most experienced producers. They aim to continue their expansion into international co-productions and span both film and TV.

Taiwan’s government has suspended its Taiwan International Co-funding Program (Ticp) in a move that appears to signal a change in direction towards more mainstream projects.
The decision has prompted concern among Taiwan’s production community, as the fund was being accessed to set up a wide range of international co-production projects, many of which have secured slots at top international film festivals including Berlin, Venice and Cannes.
When contacted by Deadline, Taiwan Creative Content Agency (Taicca), which manages the fund, offered the following statement:
“To enhance international joint funding and co-production opportunities and to meet the demands of international investments, Taicca has undertaken discussions to revise and optimize the investment initiatives based on the experience of Taiwan’s International Co-funding Program (Ticp). This strategic move aims to attract a broader spectrum of large-scale investment projects, fostering more collaborations between Taiwan and the global community.”

Americans are fascinated by British royals. Well, at least Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. According to a royal author, the couples are well-liked in the U.S. for the reason that they “live in the current moment.”
William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan’s modernity contributes to their stateside popularity
The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s popularity goes beyond the U.K. As author Clive Irving remarked, they’re preferable to King Charles III and Queen Camilla for some.
“Americans would love to see the monarchy much more like Harry and Meghan than like King Charles and Queen Camilla,” the author of The Last Queen said (via Express UK).
Since Harry and Meghan relocated to California, “that leaves us with William and Kate,” he said. “Like Harry and Meghan, they are also very popular in America.”

King Charles III has big shoes, err, a big crown, to fill the British royal family after Queen Elizabeth II. According to a royal author, he’s simply “never” had the ability to “connect” with the public like his late mother.
King Charles can’t ‘connect’ with people like the queen did
Sept. 8, 2023, marked the one-year anniversary of the queen’s death but also King Charles’s first year on the throne. Discussing where the king stands today, royal author Clive Irving explained the 74-year-old isn’t in an ideal situation.
Namely, he’s “struggling to connect” with people, a problem his mother didn’t have. “When Charles appears, he doesn’t connect,” Irving told the US Express (via Express). “I felt that very strongly at the time of the coronation that he looked almost morose throughout the whole ceremony.”

Once upon a time Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) were the Fab Four of the royal family. But while much of the public was excited about the direction the group would take the monarchy in the future, all was not well behind the scenes.
In 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex surprised just about everyone when they announced that they were stepping down from their roles within the Firm. One year after their final engagement, royal watchers were shocked again when the pair sat down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss what life was like for them behind palace walls. During that interview, the duo painted some of Harry’s relatives in a bad light. Since then Harry has only returned to his home country a handful of times, and Meghan has been back even less than that.

There were several revelations and allegations made in Prince Harry‘s explosive memoir Spare that were thought to be very damaging to the royal family. However, according to a royal author, King Charles III is facing an even bigger problem within the monarchy that was covered up by his youngest son’s tell-all book.

Some royal watchers opined that Prince Harry was set on destroying the reputations of senior royal family members in an attempt to bring down the monarchy with the stories he included in Spare. But one royal writer is claiming that the king has an even “deeper problem” to deal with and Harry’s book actually covered that up because it served as a distraction for a while.

Algerian filmmakers have stepped up a campaign calling for their government to unlock promised state funds for cinema, warning that Algeria’s film industry is on its last legs following a near-year-long funding freeze.
Following on from a first open letter in June, the Collective of Algerian Cineastes has published a new letter addressed to Minister of Culture Soraya Mouloudji, re-demanding clarification on the government’s funding plans for cinema.
Algeria’s long-running Fdatic film fund was cancelled in December 2021 by Mouloudji’s predecessor Wafa Chaâlal.
The minister promised a replacement fund would soon be announced but nine months later no new scheme has been unveiled and successor Mouloudji has been equally unforthcoming.

With its seventh edition coming to an end, Venice’s Book Adaptation Rights Market (Barm) is already eyeing the future. The three-day event – taking place during the Italian fest – is now recognized as the third most important annual rendezvous by the publishers, states Pascal Diot, head of industry sidebar Venice Production Bridge.
“It’s starting to be ‘the’ event for the publishers to attend,” agrees Vpb’s Chiara Marin.
“Before, I would go to all these book fairs and when I would mention Venice Film Festival, people would go: ‘What are you doing here?,’ ” she laughs.
As the demand for adapted stories increases, even more publishers and literary agencies were invited this year, including Taipei’s Dala Publishing, Emily Books Agency and The Grayhawk Agency. Due to popular demand, the event also decided to focus on comics and graphic novels, with the likes of Casterman, Glénat, Nathan, Tunué, Astiberri Ediciones,...
