Keanu Reeves has been at the forefront of some of cinema's most important franchises, including "The Matrix" and "John Wick." Even one of his biggest bombs has, against all odds, also become a franchise. Reeves starred in Universal's tremendously expensive blockbuster "47 Ronin" back in 2013. It was a major flop at the time and actually hurt the actor's career a bit. But nearly a full decade later, everything came full circle, and a sequel to that flop was released. Yes, was! As in, it already came out ... last year.
"Blade of the 47 Ronin" is a sequel to the movie in question, and debuted in 2022. One would be forgiven for not realizing it, as it wasn't quite as big as the original, to put it mildly. Unfortunately, Reeves didn't return for the follow-up, but for those who enjoyed that film, there is a sequel out there you can watch right now.

On October 25, 2023, the Daily Mail posted an image depicting Art the Clown from the popular "Terrifier" slasher series in his holiday best — a Santa hat and the flayed face of Kris Kringle himself, wielding an axe in front of a Christmas tree. The bottom of the poster had "Damien Leone's Terrifier 3" listed as the title. Considering the abundance of fan art made from the film series, there was debate whether or not this was leaked promotional material or just a well-made bit of fantasy booking. Well, Bloody Disgusting and Cineverse have cleared the air to confirm that the poster was legitimate, and that "Terrifier 3" will be a Christmas horror movie.
The announcement comes paired with the theatrical re-release of the 2022 hit "Terrifer 2" on November 1, 2023, which will include an exclusive sneak peek teaser for the holiday horror slasher. "For those of you speculating that the 'Terrifier 3' teaser...

Every December, classic 1988 action movie “Die Hard” is the subject of numerous debates and memes about its status (or lack thereof) as a Christmas film. This year, though, the Ukraine government is celebrating the film’s story for a very different reason.
In a tweet from the Defense of Ukraine Twitter account released Monday, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine released an edited trailer for the Bruce Willis film, comparing the plot of the movie to this year’s invasion of the country from the Russian army. Set to “Carol of the Bells” from Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych and Frank Sinatra’s rendition of “Let it Snow,” the video cuts scenes from the film, which stars Bruce Willis as New York detective John McClane as he attempts to save hostages of a German terrorist takeover led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), with text describing the plot.

When Hawkeye debuted in the fall of 2021, all the colorful lights and Christmas trees crowding the sets were regarded as nothing more than that: decorations. The Jeremy Renner- and Hailee Steinfeld-starrer was a Marvel show that just so happened to be set during the holidays. But, in truth, Hawkeye is a Christmas story that just so happens to be a Marvel show – and it should absolutely be added into your annual Yuletide rotation.
Let’s start with the most obvious arrow in the quiver: Christmas is its own character in Hawkeye, arguably the fourth lead after Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, and Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox). Almost every scene carries some reminder of the season, be it a lone string of lights in Maya’s apartment or B-roll of a snowy December in New York City. Even the abandoned K·B Toys holds special significance for anyone who grew up in the 1980s,...

Christmas is quickly approaching, with Netflix having released its yearly selection of original festive romantic comedies.
Over the last few years we’ve seen the streaming service take inspiration from the likes of Hallmark and Lifetime to produce cookie-cutter Christmas romcoms guaranteed to numb your mind like one too many mulled wines.
Revolutionary these films are not, but boy, do they hit the spot during the festive season. With titles like The Princess Switch, The Knight Before Christmas and A Castle for Christmas on offer, audiences have learnt that no plot is too ludicrous for a Netflix Christmas romcom. The more time travel, magic, döppelgangers and fictional European royalty on offer, the better.
With that in mind, I’m taking a look at Netflix’s in-house Christmas romcoms and ranking them based on just how ridiculous they are. This list has also been updated for 2022, which means this is the...

With titles like The Princess Switch, The Knight Before Christmas and A Castle for Christmas on offer, audiences have learnt that no plot is too ludicrous for a Netflix Christmas romcom. It's known that HBO's 10-part miniseries "Band of Brothers" is something of an extension of Steven Spielberg's celebrated 1998 war film "Saving Private Ryan." Part of the reverence for the Spielberg-Tom Hanks co-creation comes from an appreciation for the meticulously re-created history, from Belgian villages to liberated concentration camps; the production even shares the filming location of Ellenbrooke Fields with "Saving Private Ryan." Paired with interview excerpts from some of the real-life survivors, it makes for as-authentic-as-you-can-get storytelling.
"Bastogne" is the 6th episode in the series, one that sees the men of the 101st Airborne Division's "Easy" Company make their way through the European theater of WWII and specifically Germany's final offensive, known as the Battle of the Bulge. Ed Helms has signed on to co-star with Jennifer Garner in the Netflix comedy “Family Leave,” with McG joining as director and producer.
Garner, who also serves as a producer, has been attached to the film since Feb. 2021. Adam Sztykiel is handling the rewrite of Victoria Strouse’s script, which is based on “Bedtime for Mommy” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.
The film follows Jess and Bill Walker, a couple determined to keep their family close as their kids are growing older and less connected to one another. One day, after a chance meeting with an astrological reader, they wake up to find that they’ve switched bodies with a family living on the other side of the world. Unfortunately, the body swap happens to take place on the most important day in their individual lives, with a promotion, college interview, record deal and soccer tryout on the table.

This article contains some spoilers for Spider-man: No Way Home
Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon have just made one of the highest-grossing movies of all time! What are they going to do next? Well, the answer probably isn’t “Go to Disneyland,” because Disney has likely already brought their biggest money-makers to the happiest place on earth. But the talents behind 2021’s most popular movie Spider-Man: No Way Home certainly have a lot of good work ahead of them!
Tom Holland
Before swinging into Captain America: Civil War as Spider-Man, Tom Holland impressed viewers by playing Billy Elliot on stage and a teenager surviving a tsunami in J.A. Bayona’s The Impossible. Holland’s natural charm and youthful wit made him a pleasing screen presence. But as Peter Parker graduates high school and moves onto the real world, it’s clear that Holland is ready for more complex and adult roles.

Exclusive: Nickelodeon, in collaboration with Tyran ‘Ty Ty’ Smith & Jay Brown Productions, have formed a new pop/R&b girl group called Good Newz Girls.
This is a rare music group created by a TV network outside of a reality series. (There are no current plans for Good Newz Girls to headline a series for Nick.) This is part of a new larger Nickelodeon music strategy to develop and sign young artists and market them within the Nickelodeon ecosystem and externally.
While there are globally popular girls group like Korea’s Blackpink and the UK’s Little Mix, there hasn’t been a new U.S. girl band to make an impact in pop culture in years, since the heyday of famous recent acts like Fifth Harmony and The Pussycat Dolls. Like many who live in Melbourne, Mitchell Hope is using the lockdown to broaden his skill set.
The young actor, known for his roles in Disney’s Descendents franchise and Let it Snow, has felt the full force of the city’s battle with the virus, having returned to his hometown in February of last year following seven years of dividing his time between Australia and the US.
However, instead of baking banana bread or cultivating a green thumb, he told If he had spent the time indoors furthering his knowledge of filmmaking.
“The pandemic has been terrible, but I’ve started doing something I’ve always wanted to do, which is to write my own work and produce my own films.”

There’s no puttering around in writer-director Kay Cannon’s “Cinderella.” A storybook setting appears immediately, with bright, vivid colors and background actors singing Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation.” This is not, the film makes it immediately clear, your mama’s fairy tale, which turns out to be both good and bad.
Singer Camila Cabello makes her film debut as Cinderella, and the story begins no differently than previous versions: After her father’s death, Cinderella lives with her stepmother (Idina Menzel) and two stepsisters. Her step-family is now the only family she has, and to keep her stepmother from throwing her onto the streets, Ella makes herself indispensable by living in the basement and acting as their maid. "Please Stepmother, I spent weeks making this dress... My future depends on it!" Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the full official trailer for the new Cinderella movie, a modern musical version of the classic fairy tale. From the writer of Pitch Perfect and Let It Snow, this is skipping theaters and will debut streaming on Prime starting at the beginning of September. Camila Cabello (a famous Cuban singer / musician) stars as Cinderella. Written for the screen and directed by Kay Cannon with covers of songs written by some of the top-selling musical artists of all time, Cinderella has an all-star cast that includes Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine, with Billy Porter and Pierce Brosnan. This looks exactly like one of those made-for-tv live musicals they put on every holiday season, so if that's your thing you'll definitely enjoy it. This doesn't seem like a great reinvention of the story.

Exclusive: Isabela Merced has been tapped to play Juliet in 20th Century’s Rosaline, a comedic and revisionist take on Romeo & Juliet that has Kaitlyn Dever attached to star. The film had been at MGM but recently hit the market, and after being quickly acquired by 20th Century, the studio tapped Karen Maine to direct. 21 Laps, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing.
The script is based on the novel When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle and is a modern twist on the classic Shakespeare tale. We see “the most famous love story ever told” through the eyes of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline (Dever), a sharp but idealistic young woman—who happens to be Romeo’s recent ex. What begins as an attempt to foil the famous romance and win back her guy becomes a journey of self-discovery as she ultimately works to help get the star-crossed lovers back together.

“Take a leap of faith and try to make it happen,” Goo Goo Dolls front-man John Rzeznik declares about the band’s desire to find innovative ways to perform for their fans quarantining and isolating throughout 2020. It was that leap of faith that eventually resulted in their live holiday musical special “It’s Christmas All Over.”
“It was really a lot of fun. There’s some parts of it that are kind of cheeky, but I guess you’d say hopefully the tongue is firmly planted in the cheek, and what I loved about it was that it hearkens back to a lot of the old Christmas specials that we saw when we were little kids,” he says. Hallmark and Lifetime may be the longtime players in the TV holiday movie game, but relative newbie Netflix has a festive boast to make about its own Christmas content: “Around half” of Netflix subscribers “watched at least one” of the streaming service’s original holiday films during the 2019 holiday season and Netflix’s holiday titles are streamed in all 190 countries where the platform is available, a spokesperson for the streaming service tells TheWrap.
For context, Netflix said it had reached 167 million subscribers globally at the end of 2019, so this stat would apply to almost 50% of those accounts. Reminder: Netflix counts a “view” as when someone watches a selected title for at least two minutes.
Netflix doesn’t have nearly as many original holiday movies under its belt as Hallmark or Lifetime but its library is growing each year, and it’s already known for a few “franchises,” like its beloved “A Christmas Prince” trilogy.
