After tying the knot earlier this month, Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian enjoyed some fun in the sun on their honeymoon in the Bahamas. A source told E! News the tennis pro and Reddit cofounder vacationed at Kamalame Cay, located just off the Andros Great Barrier Reef. According to the insider, the newlyweds stayed in a four-bedroom oceanfront villa, which cost about $35,000 per week. The source said the accommodations were nestled among the resort's lush greenery and offered numerous perks, including a beachfront terrace overlooking the Atlantic ocean and access to an overwater spa. There’s no place quite like Australia.
Et’s Cameron Mathison headed to the land down under, teaming up with Tourism Australia for the adventure of a lifetime.
There’s no shortage of things to do in the gorgeous vacation destination, as Mathison settled in at The Qualia Resort -- a favorite of such celebs as Taylor Swift and Chris Hemsworth -- before taking in a variety of activities, including heading to the famous Whitehaven beach, where, as Mathison points out, is where “part of the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie was shot.”
Mathison also explored the wildlife, as well as scuba dived in the majestic Great Barrier Reef, which is thankfully back to thriving, and open to the public, after the area was struck by Cyclone Debbie in March, during a year where natural disasters have affected many around the world, including Puerto Rico, Mexico, Florida and Texas.

Screenwriter Ron Hutchinson reveals the bizarre truth behind one of the Hollywood giant’s final films, The Island of Dr Moreau
He was one of cinema’s biggest stars, but Marlon Brando behaved like a “monster” and seemed “hell-bent on sabotaging” The Island of Dr Moreau, one of his last films, according to its screenwriter.
When Ron Hutchinson was asked to work on a film with The Godfather star in 1996, he could not believe his luck. In adapting Hg Wells’s science fiction novel about a renegade scientist who creates an island of monsters, Hutchinson would be working with one of his great acting idols, as well as the acclaimed director John Frankenheimer. There was the added bonus of spending a couple of months on the Great Barrier Reef and in the rainforests of northern Australia.

If there’s one Great British institution that comes in for some flack on a regular basis, it’s the good old BBC. While to many that should just be ‘the old BBC’, with a new series of Strictly Come Dancing (I’m not that big on brevity) looming large, the snipers should be silenced, at least until Christmas. But as this is only a temporary measure, what’s the one thing that the broadcasting giant can count on all year round? Why, Mother Nature of course.
Whether it’s a tiger hunting, a flock of flamingos, or something a bit closer to home like fox clubs at play, these are the things that go some way to justifying the licence fee. Yes, the licence fee; that bone of contention that always leaves the general public feeling a little, well, ripped-off. One failed sitcom after another, overpaid presenters, plus the sporting calendar dwindling every year,...

More than 40 years after “Jaws” turned the fear of shark-infested waters into a classic horror trope, the concept keeps giving rise to new iterations, most recently with Liongate’s release of “Open Water 3: Cage Dive.” The low-budget project opens in limited theatrical release and VOD August 11, and it’s a curious outcome for what was a sensation at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and became a $54 million worldwide hit.
At this point, the franchise carries no earmarks of its indie roots — OW3 is a gimmicky story about Australian tourists whose cage-diving excursion with Great Whites goes horribly wrong — but the team behind the original installment never expected the concept to last this long. They didn’t even consider it a horror film.
In 2002, filmmaker Chris Kentis and his wife, Laura Lau, wrapped a passion project that had consumed two years of effort. Based on a true story about scuba divers...

It makes up seventy per cent of our bodies and covers over seventy per cent of the Earth’s surface, and keeps us alive – yet water can also strike terror into our hearts, and, deep in the ocean, conceal frightening forms that wouldn’t hesitate to eat us whole. Such is its power that it’s been used to scare us to death for years on the big screen!
As a warning to film fans, we’ve put together a handy guide that pinpoints the places where the waters are their most terrifying and deadly. Caution: Things ahead could get very wet indeed.
Location: The Yellow Sea, China
The Yellow Sea, located between China and Korea, is so called because sand from the desert turns the surface of the water golden yellow. But don’t be fooled – underneath that alluring surface, things get very black, very fast.

The Sundance Film Festival has long included documentaries that tackle hot button issues, but this year some of those films included virtual reality companion pieces in the New Frontier section. In addition to longstanding issues regarding technical, ethical and narrative complexities of telling stories with new technologies, these Vr additions raised serious questions about the capacity for the medium as an agent of change.
Environmental issues were at the forefront of this year’s festival, and two of the most prominent climate documentaries, “An Inconvenient Sequel” and “Chasing Coral,” presented Vr shorts as well. “An Inconvenient Sequel” shows how grave the climate change crisis has become since Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” debuted a decade ago. In the companion piece, “Melting Ice,” Gore and the film’s creator Danfung Dennis take us on a 360-degree tour of how rising temperatures have wreaked havoc on the climate of Greenland.

Just because a movie is made to be appreciated by kids doesn't mean that it can't have a deeper, more subtle meaning too. That's one of the reasons that recent family movies like "Frozen," "Inside Out," and "Big Hero 6" appeal strongly to adult fans too. Many animated and live-action children's movies share the same surface-level themes, like the value of kindness, bravery, and believing in yourself. (Also that your Fairy Godmother is on her way -- maybe she's stuck in traffic.)
But if you dig a little deeper, some of those same movies also take a sly stance on social and political issues. A few have even been criticized for promoting a specific "agenda." Did you catch the subliminal messaging in these seven children's movies?
'Finding Nemo' (2003)
In Disney Pixar's underwater charmer, "Finding Nemo," the Great Barrier Reef is home to a colorful cast of aquatic characters.

Australian conservationists warn that Pixar sequel could increase pressure on marine populations, after the first film led to surge in popularity of pet clownfish
Australian conservationists have warned that the release of new Pixar film Finding Dory could increase pressure on wild populations of exotic fish on the Great Barrier Reef and elsewhere.
Researchers from the University of Queensland and Flinders University teamed up a decade ago for the Saving Nemo Conservation Fund, named after the Disney-owned studio’s 2003 animated smash Finding Nemo, in which a clownfish searches the oceans for his missing son.

Dory was everyone's favourite part of Disney's Finding Nemo, and on June 17th, we are going to learn so much more about the confused blue tang fish.
In this new poster for Finding Dory, Dory can be seen hiding behind a sea of jellyfish. While we would never go anywhere near those jellies, Dory likely sees them as companions, because she's seriously the friendliest fish around.
While Nemo was physically lost in the Great Barrier Reef, Dory is already lost in a different way. As she suffers short term memory loss, she has a hard time remembering where she came from and is on a quest reunite with her family. We're so excited to go on this self-discovering journey with Dory.
Ellen DeGeneres is back providing Dory's voice, along with Albert Brooks reprising his role as Marlon. Joining the cast are Idris Elba, Michael Sheen, Ty Burrell, Ed O'Neill, Kaitlin Olson...

Robert Herjavec is a master at finding loopholes, and apparently he's also a fan of Amy Adams' romantic comedies.
While attending the G'Day USA Gala in downtown Los Angeles with paramour Kym Johnson on Friday night, the Shark Tank star was asked if there might be wedding bells in the couple's future – and there isn't enough spray tan in the world that would have concealed Johnson's blush at his response.
"Well here's the great thing, it's a leap year, so Kym can ask me anytime," Herjavec told People with a smile. "On a leap year, the custom is for the women to ask.

Is visiting Australia as a marine biologist a happy or sad trip to make when the Great Barrier Reef is under such threat?
It’s always a happy experience. It’s a country I have admired and loved, from afar and up close in person for years since I first started visiting in the 1970s. But there are concerns of course – and not just in Australia – about the impact 7 billion people are having on a planet that doesn’t get any bigger.

Sir David Attenborough is to return to Australia's Great Barrier Reef for a new BBC One series.
The broadcaster previously filmed in Queensland for the BBC programme Zoo Quest in 1957.
Attenborough explained to Radio Times that the new series will be largely filmed underwater.
"People say to me, 'What was the most magical thing you ever saw in your life?' And I always say without a word of exaggeration, 'The first time I was lucky enough to scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef'," he recalled.
"As I entered the water I remember suddenly seeing these amazing multi-coloured species living in communities... just astounding and unforgettable beauty.
"So I'm very excited to be returning to the Reef with all the latest technology and science to see one of the most important places on the planet in a whole new way."

Taking a break from Alan Partridge, Trips with Rob Brydon and Nights At The Museum, Steve Coogan has just signed up for a period piece. He'll play the 18th century lawyer James Boswell in an adaptation of Patrick Edgeworth's play Boswell For The Defence. Edgeworth wrote the screenplay himself, and Gregor Jordan (Buffalo Soldiers, The Informers) is directing.Boswell is best known as the long-suffering companion and biographer of Samuel Johnson, but Boswell For The Defence takes place some years after Johnson's death. It's a fictionalised version of the trial of Mary Bryant, who was convicted of (pretty low-level) highway robbery and transported to Australia in 1787. She and others escaped the colony and returned to England in 1792, undertaking an extraordinary journey that at one point involved navigating the then-uncharted Great Barrier Reef. The punishment for escaping transportation was usually death, but Boswell, stirred by her heroic tale, came to...

In 1998, Tom and Eileen Lonergan disappeared off the Great Barrier Reef after a diving company accidentally left them behind in shark-infested waters. Their bodies were never found. David Fickling reports on the true story behind a disturbing new film
The sun is bright and hot as you break surface. You squint to see the outline of a boat. After 40 minutes of scuba diving you feel disoriented. You paddle round to see whether the boat is behind you, but there is nothing: just calm, blue ocean, stretching to the horizon.
Such is the scenario of Open Water, the surprise hit of this year's Sundance film festival, which has also met with rave reviews across the American movie press. Shot on handheld digital cameras with a shoestring budget, it depicts the disintegration of a happy American couple after they are abandoned in shark-infested seas off the Bahamas during a dive holiday.
