As said before, the fifth season has been an enjoyable one so far with only "Lost Identity" being not good. "Dishing Up Murder" is another solid "Death in Paradise". So let's start with good, shall we?
. The production values are great as usual. Everything looks good and the music fits the scenery. The restaurant setting is very well captured and the acting's pretty good all around.
. The murder mystery is enjoyable enough with decent characters, mostly -working humor and with easily the best solution of the season so far (it turns out everybody had a hand in the murder).
But....
. The mystery could have been better with more twists and turns. Before the final and a very good twist, "Dishing Up Murder" was not that impressive of an episode, to be honest. That awesome ending saves this episode from being just yet another fine entry.
.Not all of the humor works. Some jokes about the holes in the road and the clumsiness of DI Goodman are not very funny. Am I the only person, who thinks that JP's relationship with Rosey has deepened way too quickly? I get JP is in love, I would feel the same that time around, but the fact he proposes to her after being together for "three months", I find it as a weird direction for the characters.
Overall, nothing else than good.
7/10 HK
