On paper, Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove share a lot in common. They both began their professional careers as child models who went on to find early success as actors. While Shields rose to fame in late-’70s and ’80s films (Pretty Baby, The Blue Lagoon, Endless Love), Cosgrove made a name for herself in the aughts on small-screen sitcoms (iCarly, Drake & Josh). As young women growing up in Hollywood, they both became cultural touchstones for their respective generations but, in turn, were forced to weather intense scrutiny under the limelight.
In that respect, it seems particularly fitting that Shields and Cosgrove would team up to play mother and daughter in Mother of the Bride, which launched Thursday on Netflix. Directed by Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday) and written by Robin Bernheim (The Princess Switch), the breezy new romantic comedy follows Shields’ Lana, a widowed single mother and world-renowned...

The response to ID’s docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV has been overwhelming to say the least, the project’s co-directors and executive producers Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz said at an Emmys FYC screening and panel in Los Angeles Tuesday evening. It’s also brought into focus another industry where there’s a “clear lack of protection” when it comes to children, Schwartz said: social media.
“One thing that we’ve had conversations about as a result of this is that, if you look at where children’s entertainment, so to speak, is today, it’s not just in studios or in networks, it’s on social media,” said the filmmaker. “That is a universe where there’s almost no oversight as to what’s happening inside people’s homes, on these screens, and what’s happening to protect those kids as well, and...

The curtain has been lifted, and the scene is grim.
Fans of Nickelodeon smash hits like All That, The Amanda Show, and Drake & Josh have been left reeling after learning that the shows that entertained us as children were shrouded in dark secrets.
At the center of it all is Drake Bell, the teen heartthrob turned troubled young adult whose devastating story was laid bare on Quiet on Set.
The chilling docuseries alleged years of abuse by Dan Schneider, the mastermind behind many of Nickelodeon's most popular television shows aimed at children and teens.
It wasn't just Dan — some of the most egregious allegations were aimed at the several convicted pedophiles who worked on those same shows.
There's an overwhelming sense of guilt that comes along with the revelations from Quiet on Set.

The horrifying new Investigation Discovery docuseries "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV" will release an additional episode in early April, according to Variety. The series' first four episodes dropped on ID and Max less than two weeks ago, but have already been viewed by an audience of 16 million people, per the outlet. They've also inspired countless tough conversations about their dark subject matter -- the abuse and mistreatment of multiple child stars and crew members behind the scenes during the heyday of Nickelodeon.
"Quiet on Set" includes interviews with former Nick stars and others who witnessed the reportedly toxic work environments on Nickelodeon shows dating back to the network's early days. Prolific producer Dan Schneider (who was an unnamed but sinister figure in Jennette McCurdy's 2022 memoir "I'm Glad My Mom Died") is at the center of the show's conversations about sexism and mistreatment. The series was an instant hit among its target audience of teens and kids, though some public goodwill felt toward Drake & Josh has been marred in the wake of various admissions and allegations concerning certain involved individuals.

Josh Peck has shared his reaction to Investigation Discovery’s bombshell Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV documentary detailing the alleged emotional and physical abuse child Nickelodeon stars suffered while working for Dan Schneider on shows like Drake & Josh, iCarly, The Amanda Show, and more. Peach Prc had a full-circle moment a few weeks ago. While attending Sydney World Pride, she got to meet Ava Max, one of the singers whose music was on constant rotation when Peach worked as a stripper.
“I remember I danced to ‘Sweet But Psycho’ so often that the girls got so sick of it — they’d hear it and be like, ‘Ah, here we go, Peach is on,'” she tells Rolling Stone from her bedroom in Australia. “Meeting her, I was like, ‘How did I pull this off?...

Actor Drake Bell, best known for co-starring in Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh, has been found safe after being declared “missing and endangered” by the Daytona Beach Police Department.
As per the Dbpd’s post on Facebook just this morning, “Officers are looking for Jared Bell”, referring to Bell’s real name (his middle name is Drake). They also wrote that Drake Bell’s last known whereabouts before going missing were potentially near a high school just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Officials said that he is likely traveling in a BMW. The situation has garnered such media attention that the department had to assure followers the story was real, confirming, “For those asking, this is a legitimate post from the Daytona Beach Police Department.” As of publication, the initial post had more than 1,000 comments.
The police department’s specific noting of the high school location may sound alarms to some.

Daniella Monet is speaking out about the environment on Nickelodeon's "Victorious." Monet played Trina on the series alongside Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies, and Victoria Justice. Monet was 18 when she started filming "Victorious," and all of her costars were younger.
On Aug. 30, Insider published an investigation into the work of "Victorious" creator Dan Schneider, who also produced Nickelodeon series like "Zoey 101," "Drake and Josh," "iCarly," and more. Jeanette McCurdy, who starred on "iCarly" and "Sam & Cat," recently spoke out about behavior on set of those shows by a person referred to as 'The Creator," in her memoir "I'm Glad My Mom Died," which some readers have interpreted as a reference to Schneider.
Monet told Insider that she previously reached out to Nickelodeon after filming a "Victorious" scene where she ate a pickle while applying lip gloss. She felt it was too sexual, but the network aired it anyway.

A former Nickelodeon star and nearly 30 protestors gathered outside of the studio’s Burbank office on Thursday, protesting Nickelodeon over what they alleged was an enabling of abuse from executives at the network.

Few movies have had as many delays as The New Mutants. The first trailer for the X-Men film arrived in October of 2017 and it was supposed to release in April the following year. Then it was delayed to February of 2019 due to reports of a disastrous production. That release date came and went, too, and August of 2019 became the new date of arrival. Then came the Fox purchase by Disney and the movie was in limbo under a new studio until yet another new release date of April 3rd, 2020 was set.
Since then, we haven’t heard too much more about the film, but at least we now have its rating confirmed. The original trailer touted a much darker tone within the X-Men universe and The New Mutants resembled a horror pic mixed with The Breakfast Club. This prompted fans to speculate whether it might receive an R rating. The possibility didn’t seem crazy,...

"Do you speak Hindi", "Your name sounds so western". Christian actors in Hindi showbiz often face such questions and remarks but say they are striving hard to break stereotypes.
Erica Fernandes, Jennifer Winget and Vivian Dsena are among those who have made a mark with their talent in the Indian television industry.
"We have a few Christians in the industry. Of course, we are here to break the stereotypes. Initially, my Hindi was not too good as I used to mostly converse in English. Daily soaps have taught me how to speak well in Hindi and I am thankful for this," Erica told Ians.
Erica is currently seen as the traditionally-rooted but strong and opinionated Prerna in the remake of hit show "Kasautii Zindagii Kay". Initially, she faced a lot of criticism from the audience for her voice.

As we gear up for an awards season ripe with many quality queer films, it’s important to remember smaller successes who may get lost in the shuffle. Lgbt-themed film festivals Outfest and Frameline kicked off the summer, while New York’s own NewFest wrapped up last week. It’s always thrilling to see a gay film get awards attention, like the kind lavished on Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me By Your Name” and foreign language contender “Bpm (Beats Per Minute).” But it’s been a banner year for nuanced queer films across the board, and especially ones from queer-identified filmmakers.
From up-and-comers making splashy debuts, to longtime favorites who have stepped up their game, the filmmakers on this list represent a varied swath of not only the Lgbt spectrum, but vastly different artistic styles. That means they have the potential to reach different audiences — and open up perspectives across demographics.

Picking the best songs from “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” is like going to an all-you-can-eat buffet catered by a Michelin-star chef. Maybe some picks aren’t going to line up for your appetite, others might be too close to what you usually enjoy, and the best choices make you realize the things you never knew you liked before.
So as the series gears up for a third season in the greater reaches of West Covina, we thought it was time not to rank every song worst to best, but to pick out the musical apex for each character on the show. The bold, the silly, the poignant, all wrapped up in the best that each “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” character has to offer.

“Loaded,” the new AMC series about the wacky adventures of overnight British millionaires, is one of the rare comedies that’s better when no one’s laughing. Ostensibly a show about what happens when a group of four men luck into unfathomable riches, one of its frequent missteps is its runtime. Unlike the vast majority of comedies on American airwaves, “Loaded” runs in hourlong increments. Overstaffed, undercooked, and in constant search of a central focus, the series is one of the better arguments for keeping comedies as concise as possible.

TV shows usually aren’t able to turn a discussion of two seasons of television into a thoroughly enjoyable low-key cabaret night. But that’s precisely what the cast and crew of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” did on Wednesday at the Television Academy in North Hollywood.
Gathering in front of TV Academy voters for their 2017 For Your Consideration event, the “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” cast performed eight songs from the show’s sophomore season, weaving in a discussion of the various challenges that the latest run of episodes provided for the whole team.
