I have something to say
xsaraalghamdi9 April 2019
The show is getting better. Sure it's not like the way it was but I guess some of you who're attacking the show (criticizing for stupid matters) are just not accepting the fact that Ragnar is dead. Some people really do read your comments and be thinking: woa wait, this must be a horrible show and decide not to watch it because of your random opinions. It's not.

The New Battle of Kattegat
claudio_carvalho2 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Bjorn, Harald, Hvitserk and King Olaf and their armies attack Kattegat but Ivar and his men surprisingly defeat them. Out of the blue, Freydis meets them and shows a secret passage to Kattegat.

"Ragnarok" is a grand finale of season 5 of "Vikings". The new battle of Kattegat is impressively realistic and brutal with excellent plot points. My vote is nine.

Excellent ending to this season
bjorn_ironside1 December 2019
Some episodes were slow moving in this season and that's why I waited before posting a review. This one was excellent though. We see Ivar (Alex Hogh) defeated by his brother Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) and forced to escape from Kattegat after he is betrayed by his wife Freydis (Alicia Agneson). I wonder where he will he go now.

Mucho nonsense. the future is grim
xerogen-118 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I never review, but i couldnt stand it i had to say something.. First of all. Why the hell they would bring up that big barn over their ram only AFTER archers slaughtered half of Borns fighters? And why wouldnt Fredo girl just push down that overacting cripple to the ground on him or even better slice him open, since they were all alone in the hall? And since they haven't found the cripple why they wouldn't shut all gates for customs purposes, some passenger traffic check? Lots and lots of holes At least the fighting scenes was nice and gg Ubbe returning after all the action is over like the cops showing up after all the action in old movies.

Anyhow i just finished watching this episode at the time of writing this review and all i can say sixth season will have to try hard to catch on for me, since Lageerta and her spirit side looks like crap (so does her new haircut), Floki is no more (great actor and natural mystic influence in the show) this is disappointing, since i even liked his Icelamd trip just a little bit (hoping for some mysticism in the show). We know that Ivar that waste of an actor is still alive and probably still will be main villain in the 6th season, will probably return with great army and some new genius inventions blah blah. I miss Jarl Borg as a villain so natural, that actor deserved the Blood Eagle

6 season worth watching? i don't know (maybe just for a relieving sight if they gonna intend to flay the boneless alive like Boltons would do)

Power corrupts
martymasta31 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The season has come to an end. A good season, but the god story plot was meh, I do love Ivar though and on the battlefield is where he truly shines! He had to rule with fear because if anyone saw him as weak (easier because he is a cripple), they would simply take the throne, I understand why he had to, but still didn't like it. I just wanna see the sons of Ragnar fight christians and not settle down, but what we got was still great! Intense battle sequences, cannot wait for season 6!

A honest review, all these 10/10's are new accounts....
jbean271231 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's really quite troubling how skewed IMDB allows itself to be now. And Sad how desperate Tv(movies too) studios try to skew the public perception as not being accurate and creating the illusion that most people are not unhappy with the direction. I guess history channel has very little else going for it so they're putting all there cents into freelance writers to give different impressions to bring in more viewers, it's pretty obviously there only hit show. But looking at the reviews from this episode, you'll see the glowing ones are only reviewing vikings, or perhaps one other show to give them more legitimacy. But for people who use this site often, that's easy to see through.

To the actual episode, it wasn't bad by any means. I almost gave it a 8/10. The battle scenes were top notch. We didnt have to suffer through close to as much Ivar crud as i thought we might. The initial attack was great. His wife turning against him was pretty obvious early on, i was just waiting for those scenes to unfold. I kinda hoped the whole victory wouldn't rely on her. But thats the route they took, cause you cant outsmart Ivar in the writers minds i guess... Since the series has veered so far from what historical accounts we currently have of this time period, i was truly hoping they would just kill him off and finally be done with this saga and move on.

Perhaps to one where Bjorn is in conflict with Harold in Kattegat/ moving against Alfred. Or something along those lines. But no.. we have more Ivar to look forward to with the terrible characterization and acting i suppose.......? I hope its limited next season and they write him off after seeing how bad his reception by fans was this season.

I can live with the historical inaccuracies since this time period is all based off myths more than anything solid, i turn my critical mind off with anything i remotely see as fiction even if it's based on fact. So why dont they take those liberties to get the show on track to something enjoyable episode to episode. I only liked 1/5th of the current season... and those liked episodes dont stand up at all to the first couple of seasons..

LISTEN PRODUCERS/WRITERS OF THE NEXT SEASON, THE MAJORITY WANT A SHIFT BACK TO THE WAYS OF OLD. DON'T IGNORE US. HEED OUR CRIES. MAKE THE SHOW SOMETHING WORTH OUR TIME AGAIN!

rrobinson-5542325 February 2019
I wanted to love this but I'm not a great fan of the way they have presented this mess of an episode. It's a battle.....cut to some sitting down holding sand..... it's a battle...cut to vikings cuddling......it's a battle......on and on all the way through.

This is not how you should end a season after 20 episodes and i don't get what was magnus even doing, was he a christian or a spy or a pagan or just a fool to fight after getting signal to retreat.. disappointed

Very expectable
aliabdallah200031 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It feels as if this entire season could've been deleted. Bjorn and Lagertha escaped from Kategatt in the beginning of the season because of Ivar and now they're back. Ivar, of course, got away, and they killed half of the new characters as if the audience knew and cared about them to be emotionally affected.

As expected, Floki didn't appear in this episode which marks the idea that 'FLOKI'S STORYLINE SUCKED.'

It is officially the worst season of Vikings.

Was soo happy with it until the end of season 4
daliborsk5 March 2020
I would not call this a review it's more about describing my feelings about this show. The following lines are mostly about my impressions from the seasons 1-4 but the rating also reflects the several episodes in the season 5. It took me a long time before I started watching this series (yeah, this year, 2020). From the very first episode I got hooked. I loved the main characters, especially Ragnar. I don't think that he is a great actor but he just fits the role perfectly. I'm aware that this is very subjunctive. But there were others also. The cast was great. I loved the story. I'll be brief, during the four seasons there were very few moments or scenes where I told myself "why?", "silly", "cheap", "cheesy". So my rating for the first 4 would be like almost perfext, 9 stars. Then Ragnar got killed I started watching the season 5 and it feels like somebody moved a rail-switch to a different position and the magic disappeared. Feels a bit like a soap now. The reason? IMHO it's about the shift in character focus plus the story. There must have been some big change in the production team. It made me wonder "is this the same show?", "what happened?". I don't think that it is only about the absence of Ragnar. The story arc is fragmented, there is a lot of scenes and moments when I ask myself "why?". Not sure if I'll finish the show, I'll see.

Lost the plot.
alexrjharrison1 February 2019
Vikings used to be about vaguely historical events. Now it's driven by dodging created characters reacting to unlikely motivations. It's such a shame. I still think the actors are good, I just blame the show runners and writers. Perhaps the show has gone on so much longer than they thought.

This particular episode had good action, but it just doesn't really make sense...
