This post contains spoilers for the book "Dune: Messiah."
The adaptation of "Dune: Messiah" has already been approved, but we've long wondered just how the hell director Denis Villeneuve is going to pull it off. Not only is there a 12-year time jump, and not only are major characters like Jessica unceremoniously dropped from the narrative, but the book also features a lot of political feuding that will probably have to be cut for the movie to feel even vaguely comprehensible.
For screenwriter Jon Spaihts, however, there are plenty of reasons to stay optimistic. The big one is that "Dune: Part 2" has already made a ton of changes to the narrative to make a better transition into "Messiah," and he thinks those changes are going to pay off big time going forward. As he explained in a recent interview with Mashable:

It's been over a month since "Dune: Part Two" was released in theaters, and it's already a clear-cut success. The film's now passed the $600 million threshold at the box office and the reviews have been consistently positive; not since the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy has such a seemingly-unadaptable book been so successfully adapted to the big screen. Already, "Dune: Part Three" has been confirmed to be in development, adapting the second book in the "Dune" series, "Dune: Messiah," and hopefully wrapping up director Denis Villeneuve's planned trilogy in a nice, satisfying bow.
Already, however, there are a few challenges ahead for the Villeneuve. The first is that "Messiah" begins 12 years after the events of "Dune," which means they'll either have to delay the film a bit to let the actors age into the roles or put a lot of make-up on Timothèe Chalamet to sell the illusion that...

Denis Villeneuve will proceed with Dune: Messiah only under a specific condition ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia; IMDb )
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Denis Villeneuve, the director of Dune: Part Two, discusses the potential sequel Messiah. Villeneuve hints that he would only consider moving forward with Messiah, pending approval from Legendary Entertainment, if he believes it can surpass Part Two and deliver a more captivating narrative.
Denis Villeneuve highlighted the logic behind shooting both films consecutively, citing the benefits of maintaining momentum after Part One. However, he acknowledged the toll it took, spending six years continuously on Arrakis. Recognizing the need for a break, Villeneuve emphasized the significance of refining the screenplay before progressing further. He expressed concern about the risks of proceeding without a solid plan and emphasized the importance of thorough documentation to mitigate potential challenges. Should Denis Villeneuve opt to undertake Dune Messiah, he underscores the necessity for authenticity and significance.

Denis Villeneuve’s vision for Dune movies has captivated audiences worldwide. Amazing visuals, deep characters, and how closely it followed Frank Herbert’s book made it a box office smash.
But fans wanting more might have to wait for a while. Villeneuve hinted that he might not make the next film, Dune Messiah, right away. Apparently, he only wants to do it if it’s even better than the second one!

The overwhelming success of Dune: Part Two has definitely put some pressure on Denis Villeneuve to deliver a third film. Villeneuve’s first and second films have left untold a lot of story arcs from Frank Herbert’s novel, which fans believe will be completed in his film based on the second book, Dune: Messiah. Interestingly, the film may not happen anytime soon as the visionary director wants to make sure that one condition is met for this threequel film.
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two (2024)
Villeneuve revealed that he would only do Dune: Messiah if he felt that it could outperform Dune: Part Two. The Sicario director’s condition is almost a challenging one as the sequel film has already cruised past the $500 million mark at the box office and is set to achieve more milestones.

Elon Musk’s former partner Grimes, a singer, songwriter, and record producer, once found similarities in her life to that comparable to the world and characters presented in Frank Herbert’s opus, Dune. Resonance with fictional media is not a one-person affair; most delve into them to find parallels to one’s experiences or the emotions, goals, and characteristics a character becomes emblematic to mirror their own.

However, what has taken some netizens to side-eye Dune super-fan Grimes’ comment in a 2022 interview was the Canadian artist finding her son, X Æ A-12 Musk, analogous to the 1965 novel’s protagonist, Paul Atreides. Well, not through personality traits, per se (she didn’t specify), but through the journey Paul follows within the overarching storyline.
This, of course, holds some intriguing implications when we consider the character’s trajectory in Dune Messiah.

The film was released on March 1 to overwhelmingly positive reviews, with Chalamet’s performance as Paul Atreides being lauded along with director Denis Villeneuve’s vision. Netflix is doing its best Angel Studios impression with “Testament: The Story of Moses,” a three-part documentary series premiering on March 27, 2024. Angel, the studio behind surprise box-office hit “Sound of Freedom,” is not actually involved; “Testament” is a Karga Seven Pictures production.
Unlike “Sound of Freedom,” “The Story of Moses” will not have a theatrical release. Even if it were cut as a feature-length film instead of a docuseries, that’s just not how Netflix rolls — it wants longterm subscribers, not a one-time box office boon.
“Testament: The Story of Moses” explores the life of Moses and his rise from outcast and murderer to prophet and liberator of the Hebrews, according to the logline. Netflix released the trailer on Tuesday, March 5.
The docuseries’ presentation is part scripted drama, part documentary-style interviews. There are the locusts and the sea-parting and all the greatest hits from the Bible, the Qur’an, and the Torah.

Dune 2 has been a revelation, with critics and fans alike raving about Denis Villeneuve’s vision for Frank Herbert’s novel. The second part of the intended trilogy is a visual masterpiece, no doubt, but is no way lacking in terms of storytelling either. Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts wrote a wonderful screenplay for the movie based on the epic that is Dune, but what many fans might have noticed with after both films, is that it does not follow the novel to the T.

He has also given way more agency to the character of Chani than what she had in the novels.

Timothée Chalamet had everyone buzzing with his part in Dune Part Two as Paul Atreides. The scene that really got people chatting was when he went head-to-head with a sandworm. It was a major moment in the sci-fi flick. But here’s the thing, shooting that sandworm scene?

Dune: Part Two was recently released on 1st March, and audiences and critics alike have been raving about the second installment of the intended trilogy. Denis Villeneuve has created the world of Dune from Frank Herbert’s novel extraordinarily, and Timothée Chalamet and team has made sure to bring all the characters to life perfectly with the two movies so far. Villeneuve’s latest release, Dune: Part Two, has garnered widespread acclaim on a global scale, captivating audiences with its epic scope and immersive storytelling. Yet, it has also sparked debate among Denis Villeneuve’s fans, who find themselves divided when comparing it to one of his previous works, Arrival. Dune: Part Two is the talk of the town as Denis Villeneuve has managed to exceed all expectations and deliver another staggering sci-fi epic that improved upon the already impressive first part. The ensemble cast elevated the proceedings of the film with Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, and Rebecca Ferguson being considered the standout performers of the film.
Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Two
In addition to these two powerhouses, everyone brought their A-Game to the film and provided the necessary intensity and emotional depth to the epic nature of the film. However, many people are only talking about some particular actors and are sleeping on some of the cast members who do not necessarily have a big role but give amazing performances nonetheless.

With “Dune: Part Two” now playing in theaters, Denis Villeneuve has accomplished what many sci-fi geeks have long seen as an impossible task: making a competent adaptation of Frank Herbert’s “Dune” that treats the mythology with the cinematic gravitas it deserves. And now that audiences are more invested in sandworms and ornithopers than any reasonable person would have thought possible a decade ago, there’s no reason to think the “Dune” train should slow down any time soon.
The latest film concludes the story Herbert told in his original novel, but he went on to write five sequels that expand the world in wild new directions. And his son Brian Herbert has kept the saga going with an additional 20 books released over the past half-century. There’s enough lore for Warner Bros. to make “Dune” movies for decades to come, with or without Villeneuve and his key players. With...

Anticipation for a third Dune film has skyrocketed with the release of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, and the filmmaker has heightened this excitement by teasing that the upcoming sequel will unravel the secrets surrounding the mysterious sandworms. After being depicted as an invisible threat in the 2021 film, Dune: Part Two brings the creatures into the spotlight with entire villages riding on their spacious backs.

However, the film never really reveals how the Fremen warriors dismount from the massive sandworms. When asked about the same in an interview with IndieWire, Villeneuve shared that the mystery surrounding the enormous sand creatures will be revealed in the potential next installment, Dune Messiah.

Following the release of the second installment, fans of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune are undoubtedly eagerly anticipating the release of the third. However, there is no need to worry—Villeneuve appears to be taking his sweet time making Dune 3, much as James Cameron did with Avatar. Wait, that means we might have to wait another ten years for the next Dune film.
Well, in a recent chat with THR, the French-Canadian filmmaker, 56, made it clear that he is not in a rush to begin the next installment of the Dune saga. Making sure “I have the right screenplay” is another priority for him. Well, before you start pulling out your hair in frustration, consider this: maybe Villeneuve is onto something.
Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides in Dune
Just like Cameron, he’s treating Dune like his own child, nurturing it with care and patience to ‘make sure’ only the best product comes forward.

Spoiler Alert: This contains major spoilers for the ending of “Dune: Part Two,” now playing in theaters.
Readers of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel “Dune” have known the plot of the sci-fi epic for years, but fans who have only watched Denis Villeneuve’s films may have some questions about the ending of “Dune: Part Two” and the future of the series.
Young protagonist Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) undergoes a drastic transformation by the end of “Dune: Part Two” and becomes the new Emperor of the Known Universe. His conquest is made possible by leading the native, blue-eyed Fremen people, who believe Paul and his mother, Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) are a prophesied mother and son who will bring peace to their planet Arrakis. Jessica’s Bene Gesserit sisterhood also believe Paul is the legendary Kwisatz Haderach, an all-powerful male heir who can see across space and time.

While fans had no complaints about 2021’s Dune long run time, which clocked at 155 minutes, Zendaya had a rough time sitting throughout the film during the Venice Film Festival.
Over the past few years, the Marvel Star has become the biggest attraction in Award ceremonies and fashion shows following her breathtaking outfits, which often take the internet by storm. And similar was the case during the 78th Annual Venice International Film Festival, when she entered the event in a custom Balmain dress, but beauty came at a price for the actor.

In recent times, it seems as though the charm that was once possessed by big-budget superhero films has now trickled down to exceptional adaptations from filmmakers other than comic books, and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune series is a shining example of that phenomenon. With Timothée Chalamet playing the role of the main protagonist since the first film, the hype for the sequel has been more than buzzing with excitement.

It's been a long first couple of months of 2024 at the box office. Overall, ticket sales are down 15% compared to this same point in 2023, and following the rough few years that theaters had thanks to the pandemic, this is a dangerous downturn for the industry. But a savior is on the horizon and his name is Paul Atreides. More accurately, his name is Timothée Chalamet, who leads the star-studded cast of the much-anticipated "Dune: Part Two," which finally arrives in theaters on Friday after being pushed back several months by Warner Bros. It turns out that may be a wise move, as this is now poised to be a much bigger hit than its predecessor -- one that may mirror, in some ways, one of the biggest hits of last year: Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer."

Denis Villeneuve has been quite vocal about his intention to make a third “Dune” movie, which would be based on Frank Herbert’s second novel in the series, “Dune Messiah.” Warner Bros. has not yet given the official greenlight on “Dune 3,” but, should the studio move forward, it will most likely mark Villeneuve’s final installment in the franchise despite Herbert’s literary series continuing with various sequels such as “Children of Dune,” “God Emperor of Dune,” “Heretics of Dune” and “Chapterhouse: Dune.”
“’Dune Messiah’ should be the last ‘Dune’ movie for me,” Villeneuve confirmed to Time magazine in a new interview ahead of the theatrical release of “Dune: Part Two.”

One of the first major blockbusters to be released in 2024, the upcoming “Dune: Part Two” will conclude Denis Villeneuve’s sprawling adaptation of Frank Herbert’s original “Dune” novel. But it might not be the last we see of the planet Arrakis.
Villeneuve and his collaborators have long been open about their desire to make more films based on the many sequels that Herbert wrote. Villeneuve has cited the second novel, “Dune Messiah,” which takes Paul Atreides in a darker direction as he accumulates intergalactic power, as his preferred starting point for a third film in his trilogy.
“If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream,” Villeneuve said in a 2023 interview. “’Dune Messiah’ was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero. Which is not what he wanted to do. My adaptation is closer to his idea that it’s actually a warning.

However, he said that he might tackle another project before it. He said: “I don’t know exactly when I will go back to Arrakis,” reports Deadline.

Demons, witches, and devils have been around in religion and life for nearly as long as people have been around. This extends into movies as since the very beginning of motion pictures, we have attempted to capture the fears of these types of fears on film in a number of ways. Most of the media we see on it is built out from existing ideas to create a new narrative that looks to capture the interests of the general public enough to make a profit or base a movie on it. While many people know both the book and movie of The Exorcist, something like The Rite (watch it Here) that more or less came and went in the early 2010s proves that it also has an interesting story to tell. Whether or not you believe in the religious supernatural events found in either the book or the movie, it...

In a world replete with quick-spreading disinformation and the subsequent, dangerous proliferation of kooky conspiracy theories, the 2021 animated series "Inside Job" — created by Shion Takeuchi (a writer on "Gravity Falls" and "Disenchantment") — was perfectly timed. "Inside Job" posited that every single conspiracy theory you've ever heard — whether it be Reptilians, JFK, the Mandela effect, the flat Earth, or the faked moon landing — were all 100 percent real. Clones were out there, severed heads were being kept alive in labs, and aliens regularly visited Earth. Just like in "The X-Files," ordinary citizens weren't allowed access to this knowledge.
Earth's conspiracies were overseen by a mysterious underground organization called Cognito, Inc., one of six major shadow governments secretly in charge of the world. The other five were the Catholic Church, the Illuminati, Atlantis, the Reptoids, and the Juggalos (tee hee). The central joke of "Inside Job" was that Cognito, Inc. was staffed by flawed,...

The Spanish world premiere that made the most waves at this year’s San Sebastian Festival was not a film but a series, “La Mesías,” written, directed and produced by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo.
“A masterpiece,” proclaimed Spanish website Cineconñ; national newspaper El Mundo greeted it as the first work of maturity from hugely unconventional auteurs.
Now bound for Mipcom, where the series receives a market screening, “La Mesías” says much about the ambitions of its creators and its backer, Movistar Plus.
In 2017, Telefónica-owned Movistar Plus, Spain’s biggest SVOD-pay TV player, rocked the San Sebastian Festival with “The Plague,” then the biggest series ever made in Spain.
“La Mesías” follows Ambrossi and Calvo’s overseas breakout “Veneno,” which was picked up by HBO Max for the U.S. market, and made Ambrossi and Calvo among the most-courted young showrunners in Europe.
“We’ve had to say ‘no’ to a lot of things,...

Much like Muad’Dib, the Lisan al Gaib of Arrakis, Denis Villeneuve has a vision: An elegant, self-contained trilogy consisting of three films. The first two are a dual adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal (and gargantuan) science fiction novel, Dune; the third film would meanwhile be a single adaptation of arguably Herbert’s darkest text, the slender second volume in the Atreides saga, Dune Messiah.
To fans of Herbert’s novels, this should sound like good and better news—the start of an epic series of films that bring all of Herbert’s books to the screen. Yet more than once Villeneuve has insisted his plan is to only adapt the first two of Herbert’s novels while leaving the remaining four books in the original series, including fan favorite Children of Dune, unadapted. And while speaking with Empire magazine, the filmmaker has revealed why.

Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" is one of the best big-budget sci-fi movies of the past few years, a fantastic adaptation that captures the epic scope of Frank Herbert's magnum opus, its politics, vast world-building, and most importantly, its cautionary tale about messiahs.
While we wait for the delayed "Dune: Part Two" to bring the second part of the story and to finally show Paul riding a freaking sandworm, Villeneuve is looking forward to what's next. As soon as "Dune" came out, the director started teasing his wish to adapt Frank Herbert's "Dune Messiah."
Now, Villeneuve reiterated his hopes when talking to Empire. "If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream," he said. What's more, Villeneuve teased more than just hopes, saying "there are words on paper," for his take on "Dune Messiah."
Of course, there is a lot more "Dune" after "Messiah," including books written by Herbert's son Brian,...

With Dune: Part Two now pushed back to March 2024, it almost inadvertently suggests a wider timeline for Denis Villeneuve’s works. And so it may be that the world of Dune will indeed be expanding, with the director saying pen has already been put to paper on a third installment.
Speaking with Empire for a new cover story, Denis Villeneuve said, “I will say, there are words on paper” to complete the trilogy. Villeneuve has teased the project before, with the goal to adapt the second book in Frank Herbert’s Dune series, “Dune Messiah”. “If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream…‘Dune Messiah’ was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero…Which is not what he wanted to do. My adaptation [of Dune] is closer to his idea that it’s actually a warning.” Of course, with the WGA strike raging,...
