Opens up a lot of storytelling potential for season 10
Seanny931 April 2019
The episode was decent, it was more of a resolution to what happened last week. I think we have all been spoiled in the upbringing that a finale should be full of action but here it wrapped up the season nicely and opened up doors to season 10. Last week was really the finale I feel. On a whole season was very good and much better than 7 and 8.

Setting up the wars to come
mikeysmovies2 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Rating: 8.8

In true Game of Thrones style, 'The Storm' provides a calming review of the seasons events, while setting up the wars to come next season.

Although some viewers will be disappointed by the lack of excitement compared to what they've grown used to in a finale, I think it actually represents a positive change for the show - to learn from the best show on TV isn't a bad idea. If you view this episode with that point of view, you will be able to enjoy it as it was intended. With some refreshing zombie action and visual effects which borrow from classic undead interpretations (rising from beneath the ground), this episode continues its trend of utilising old school scares to thrilling effect. It feels somewhat reminiscent of 'The Distance' from season six, making use of the concept of the physical environment playing a role in the apocalypse.

Other than the stunning visuals, the production (in terms of writing and intelligent storyline plotting) has improved remarkably. With usually overlooked aspects taking precedence, like remembering the past by having our survivors take shelter in the Sanctuary, or showing the progression of Carol's character as she opts not to kill any more kids...These are important moments which make evident the vast improvement in character building and world building this season has accomplished. Carol has had a lot of great moments over the years, but this felt like her rebirth, with an absolute masterclass in acting. On the whole, season nine has achieved the impossible - TWD feels like a coherent show worth watching again. Kudos to Angela Kang for pulling off one of the greatest, most unexpected comebacks in TV history.

So What Did We Learn Tonight?
sevenlilxenos1 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Virgina can get a lot colder and snowier than Georgia in the winter.

If Rick thought that it would be a cold day in Hell before Neagan got out of his jail cell he was almost right.

Suicide by Walker bite is about as emo as it gets.

Best line of the night: Not The Father Gabriel.

Daryl is as good with a cross bow as he is with an eye sickle.

When crossing frozen lakes, stay next to the skinnier people.

If your a kid and you want someone to kill you, don't ask a woman who has already seen her own kids die among others.

Neagan couldn't save Coral, but did a good job saving Judith, who did a good job saving Neagan and dog.

Frozen Walkers have a hard time eating when their teeth break, but still look cool.

Now that Carol has turned in her Queen crown maybe Zeke can hook up with Michonne and they could do each others hair.

Just when you thought Alpha couldn't get any freakier.

So guess whose in the helicopter has changed to guess whose on the short wave?

If it turns out to be Junk Lady, they got another (A)lpha to give her. Trade for Rick?

Great end to a great season
WeAreTheWalkingDead2 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After last week's devastating episode we see in comparison, a naturally calmer episode for this week's finale, where we see just some of the effects from the episode before.

The Kingdom has finally fallen, the broken pipes, which Henry used to help with, too much to repair, alongside the visible cracks in the walls also symbolising the break down in Ezekiel's & Carol's relationship. Winter & snow make more than a brief appearance with a satisfying blizzard that our survivors have to contend with out on the road & in their communities. We also finally see some of the effects the bitter cold has on the Walkers in the universe making for some interesting & new takedowns.

Some nice character development for Lydia, still very much an outsider, whose guilt nearly becomes too much until Carol reaches out to her, & for the comedic Negan, showing off his selfless side & potentially showing us that he has changed after spending nearly 8 years behind bars. We also have the unfortunate, but sadly quite realistic break up of the King & Queen of The Kingdom, both ravaged by the loss of their son.

Finally we check back in on the Whisperers with Alpha & Beta whose animalistic nature saw them spend time away by migrating south to escape the harsh winter, (something you can pick up on if you listen to the dialog, negative reviewers) & also the mystery of the radio. A female voice calling out. Somebody we know or a stranger?

All in all, this was certainly a different type of finale we've been used to & for some, maybe not exciting enough, but it sets us up nicely for the events that will unfold in Season 10. A good character driven episode to see out what has been a brilliant season overall.

Season 9 was quite a ride!
Splarke221 April 2019
After 2 subpar seasons, TWD bounced back with a stellar Season 9 that was amazing from start to finish! 9x16 is an awesome finale, giving us snow for the first time on the show and some great character development. While it wasn't as good as 9x15 (which is one of the best episodes of the whole series in my eyes), it was still a great way to end off a great season!

What a season to remember!
dayolo-460591 April 2019
I still find it hard to believe that the first episode started off with building bridges. No we're 16 episodes in and we're facing skinned walker freaks and snow. Anyways back to the episode. This episode was a solid finale, the best parts Ive loved would be the blizzard and Negan. The only problem with this episode is that it is quite slow and does repeat it self a lot. But overall good episode. Season 9 has been my favourite season so far and I hope to see the same in season 10

Great Episode, Terrible Finale
zrice-343891 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There were a lot of great moments in this episode, not going to lie. Judith saved by Negan, the walkers coming out of the snow, Lydia wanting to kill herself, and the Kingdom falling.

But, as a whole, the episode was branched out, had a lot of boring dialogue, and didn't fit as a finale.

The Walking Dead has had some great finales over the years. Yes, seasons 6 & 8 weren't the most well liked, but they were thrilling, exciting, and both seasons had massive cliffhangers. Season 9? Not really a big cliffhanger. The radio static got me excited a bit, as a hope for Maggie or Rick to return, but that's it. I was only excited for a bit.

After that, the episode just ended. Ended right there. After much buildup, and only a single scene with the Whisperers, it ended. Yes, they want to bring people back for season 10 (and they will), but the ending was dull in a way.

Loved episode 15, as I thought it was one of the best in the entire series. This one, not so much.

Great episode, terrible finale.

Winter is here!!
blackcat-932794 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Glad to finally see some actual winter in twd outside of the comics! Brilliant episode, very well put together and brilliantly performed not least from Jeffery dean Morgan. Negan and Judith are brilliant together!! Snow and walkers, cheeky teese for thrones I wonder 😜. My personal favourite season so far though. 9 has been a welcome breath of fresh air from after the soap opera that was season 8!

A good episode to wrap up an amazing season!
tomwarne-530941 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great finale episode, (not as good as 9x15) but a good end to an amazing season and in my opinion the best season yet! Great character development and dialogue. It's great that Negan is finally getting his redemption arc, with a great scene rescuing Judith and a nice conversation with michonne. Also Lydia is accepted by carol which obviously meant a lot to her as you see her laughing and having fun with the others at the end. Alpha asks beta to beat her with the tree branch to get stronger. The fact we got snow finally was awesome and the frozen ice walkers were great. Cannot wait to see what's in store for season 10 and get more Ryan hurst as beta and Samantha Morton as alpha!

I give this one a 8.5/10

Warning: Spoilers
Season nine has ended and what a season it was it totally got the show back up and was better than season eight and seven mixed together! Angela kang has been nothing but brilliant with the show and somehow she manged to bring the show up on it feet which is incredible i think the episode was really good for a wrap up episode Of course it's not like episode 15 because it's a wrap up episode what did you expect and we still have season ten to be excited for which has the war , Norman Reedus was amazing he is now carrying the show along with Danai and Melissa and of course Jeffery Dean Morgan who will play a big role in the upcoming season actually season ten is something I'm excited for and can't wait for when is the last time The Walking Dead did that ? season six i hope season ten will live for the hopes i think the show can comeback the best episodes in my opinion this season was episode 5 , episode 9 , episode 15 every single one had a unique vibe the fifth episode had the dramatic vibe episode nine had the scary and excitement vibe and episode 15 had the old Walking Dead vibe I have to applause for Angela Kang what an amazing show runner .

Melancholic Final Episode
claudio_carvalho2 April 2019
Months after the massacre of ten friends by the Whisperers, the Kingdom is complete depleted and people need to move to Hilltop. However a blizzard surprises the group on the road and they need to find shelter as soon as possible crossing Alpha´s territory.

"The Storm" is a melancholic final episode of the Ninth Season of "The Walking Dead". The episode is not bad, but the last episode would have been a grand finale for this season. My vote is seven.

Good Episode, Decent Finale
pokemon-514786 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
TOOK NINE YEARS TO FINALLY SEE SOME GODDAMN SNOW! Honestly, seeing the fall of the Kingdom was kinda sad, Daryl caring for Lydia was nice, the snow actually looked good, Carol and Ezekiel getting divorced was shocking, the snow fight was adorable and exactly what was needed. A bit of happiness after like ten episodes of a living hell. And finally the radio, at long last. Better give Comrade Eugene this story arc. And Negan finally getting his redemption arc in a way that I'd say is better than the comics.

I'd say that this did a decent enough job as a finale with an actually good cliffhanger. It foreshadowed something coming up soon with the Whisperers, Negan's redemption arc in Season 10, and the mystery woman on the radio.

A decent episode.
opreston-1 April 2019
Coming off of last week's stellar episode, I expected this episode to take sort of an epilogue approach to end the season; I was correct. An episode that had great moments, but overall felt a bit lackluster.

ep. 15 should've been the finale.
austinrhays1 April 2019
This was one of the most boring Walking Dead finales. it was an hour of them just walking through the snow.

after seeing what happened in episode 15, i was expecting this to be a full fledged finale. very disappointed in tonight's episode.

Can't tell me that wasn't Jadis at the end on the radio. It has to be. Quite a few things are going to be tied up in the next season. The past couple seasons were weak but overall this season was solid. At least the second half was. Walking dead is on an upswing for sure

After the last thrilling episod wee need this type of slower but important finale!
ebbewahlstrom2 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I know some say that episod 15 should have been the Season finale but some series setup the 2nd episod to be like a finale. This is another take on a finale it's a stylish and dark episod but important cause it setups Season 10 with for example the radio scene in the End !

Greg Nicotero delivers a memorable and original season finale, filled with stunning visuals and great writing
Holt3441 April 2019
After the extraordinary episode of last week we get a episode that is much more calmer and slower paced, we get to see the heroes in a snow environment and it's a great experience. We have Greg Nicotero to thank for the amazing episode that's great both visually and in writing form. He creates something original and a lot of stuff that we have never seen on the show before which was a blast, seeing the frozen walkers was a sight. I'm so thankful that Angela Kang is writing the episodes and being the show runner as she is doing something new and fresh and also does something that we haven't had since season 6, everyone together again. It looks like she has something remarkable in store for the tenth season.

We got to see another time jump of a few months and it was great as now Magna's group aren't outsiders anymore which is fantastic. They have showed what they are capable off since episode 6, just great character development for everyone. Another couple of character moments of this episode was Daryl and Carol, their heart to heart conversation and also Negan, only good things will come outta that character.

Great way to end the season
nytonescala1 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I know a lot of people are complaining that ep 15 should be the finale, but this episode was a great way to end the season. Not better than the last episode, but a finale should serve as a way to conclude the season and prep us for the next, which this episode does quite well. Carol and Ezekiel's split shows the effect Henry's death did. Negans redemption ark stole the show. As the group starts to trust Negan, maybe they'll trust him enough let him fight against the Whisperers. Small things like the snowball fight brought some light into this dark episode. And then the radio should get us talking through out the whole summer. If ep 15 was the finale it would've left a bitter taste in our mouths through out the whole summer. Imagine the red wedding being the finale, have catelyn starks throat slit being the last thing you see until the next season. Definitely not a 10/10 but definitely does not deserve below 4/10

Angela Kang, thank you
boka00002 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What a great season. After last week's episode, it was a bit naive to think the finale would end with a bang. The finale was very fitting. Not Perfect but great nonetheless. I felt the need to exhale a bit after the pikes/ borders scene. This episode had to be a mediater for the REAL storm that will follow. There is still a bit of glimpses of mediocrity in Jerry's performance as well as Judith. It feels a bit off and feels like some cringe creeping back into the episode whenever those two charcters appear. I hope that Judith and Jerry's presence is transformed in the next season in a way that fits the realism and identity of the WALKING DEAD. Kudos to both of them, just my two cents for the future, all Love. Hope my point reaches you.

Alpha is still maintaining that disturbing presence and the feel of uneasiness which goes on to show What a great actress Samantha is.

The episode was very quick, not a boring moment felt along with smooth editing and lovely shots of the ice storm from start to finish.

The final interaction between Negan and Michonne raises a lot of eyebrows for what might be unleashed in retaliation to the whisperes.

The very last static message was highly unexpected and still remains very mysterious. Cool touch.

From what has been presented to us in the finale, Season 10 has a lot to offer, from Whisperers clash, Negan's intervention, Rosita giving birth, more losses, static voice identity revealed, Lydia blending in, King and Queen breakup aftermath and a lot lot more.

Given the above known points and the much more unkonwn plots and secrets in the hands of our beloved Showrunner, Queen Angy, season 10 should be nothing short of Spectacular. My personel expectation is simplly and totally elimanting the cringe factor, a lot more seriousness portrayed and breathtaking directing as well as writing.

Series Resurrection approved Angela my dear,( Queen Angy) Now its time to load up the big guns.

See you guys in October.

the finale doesn't really feel like an episode to finish a season, but it's a decent end of a good season
Shadowboy_25cm1 March 2022
The final episode of this ninth season is like an aftermath of the events from episode 9x15 and doesn't catch up for the intense and gripping feel that episode 15 created.

It's more like a preparation for the planned tenth season, a decent final episode with some character development and the first winter in TWD history.

Solid episode without cliffhanger, but a good end of a good season.

For those giving a Bad rating...Season 9 was GOLD
daviddecipher1 April 2019
Seriously? This episode is a special gift to the fans thanks to Angela Kang. When have we ever seen a snow episode? This was something special and showed great emotion from Carol & Lydia. The aftermath of last weeks episode needed to be like this. So if you loved Season 9 then accept that this was at least an 8/10.

I really feel for Lydia
Ashitaka1371 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Daryl went John McClane in Die Hard 2 on that snow walker. I really feel for Lydia, she's not a bad kid, she was raised by a crazy evil mother in a murderous cult and she's really hurting for what her mother did to those people because of her. They should give Negan a stand up comedy show to entertain them during the winter: "Very mature attitude Father, not the father"😁. That snowball fight was a great moment.

Kind of a Dud
spyder-204601 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Kind of a weird episode. With the drama from the last episode, I anticipated something of substance for the season finale. But it seemed more like a filler episode. They walked through snow. And got to deal with snow zombies which were no more threatening than other zombies.

There didn't seem to be anything that really built suspense for next season. And there didn't seem to be any reaction at all from the main group except for a defeated sadness. And apparently Alpha sent her people on vacation (whatever that means).

So much of this seems contrived. Judith wanders off so that Negan can rescue her, and prove himself a good guy. There's a blizzard because it's something different and adds a small obstacle. Lydia wanders off so Carol can sort of save her.

At least there was more Negan in this episode. He definitely adds something to the show, especially when so much of the cast is forgettable and uninteresting.
