Rare modern Simpsons hit
JimmyWhimmyNutrinSon23 June 2022
Sure, its not exactly a great episode, but it had way more chuckles with jokes aimed at the anti woke virgin losers. All the negative reviews come entirely from misogynistic men who feel called out by the episode. Get a life and stop whining whenever you see a woman.

Bart, are you ok?
Mark_Shine19 August 2023
The image I see is that of Bart. The voice I hear is Bart's. Still, I don't feel Bart in this episode. As if another being that I don't recognize had occupied his body, we find ourselves before a strange Bart, who accepts his second place, in a certain way even humiliated, and who does not turn with his usual intelligence towards the aggressor. The topic at hand is very topical, and the Simpsons do very well to deal with it, although I wonder...wouldn't it have been better if Milhouse or Nelson, with much less personality, had been caught by the girl gang? Bart has changed over the course of 30 years, but he has never lost his essence, except in this episode.

Portrays Both Sides Weakly

This could've been a good episode if it had the right person for the job, But however, Both sides were not well written.

laying it on a little thick
otter6825 March 2019
Anyone who has been a fan of The Simpsons knows the female characters are smarter than the male characters: Marge is smarter than Homer, Lisa is smarter than Bart, Grandma Simpson is smarter than Grandpa, etc; in fact, there are no stupid female characters. In one of the early seasons, they actually had an episode that showed all the Homer's female relatives smart and successful, and all the Simpson men dumb. Tonight's episode laid it on really think: girls are strong and smart, and the boys are dumb and inept, and getting boys to cry, even if it means getting chemicals in their eyes is the ultimate feminine dream. There were NO laughs in this episode. They used a sledge hammer when a rubber mallet would have sufficed.

Worst Episode Ever?
thadgordon3625 March 2019
Even worse than Sadgasm.

Who wrote this? Who gave this the green light? "Let's not only get political for no reason, but let's also make certain that we misrepresent both sides of the argument. Let's be wrong about literally every single point that we make. What could go wrong?"

Yet again, Lisa proves that her only purpose in life is to try and sabotage Bart at every stage. Is her ego so small and fragile that she can't just find satisfaction in her own accomplishments?

This episode is disgusting on so many levels. It's poorly-written, the plot is awful, the guest stars are bad, just...everything about this episode is horrible! Even the title is bad...

Controversial

To be honest, when I watched this episode, I laughed a few times. The humour was corny, but I don't know, I just found it funny ...

Swing and a miss

I have never been angry at the end of a Simpsons until this episode. Even the real real crappy ones didn't make me angry, this one did. Hey writers go back and watch a few old episodes so you can see how the characters should act. This one just had them way out of whack. Don't try so hard with your lame message, study what made the old episodes so great. They didn't have to beat you over the head to have a subtle message, not one in glaring red neon. I doubly hated it when I saw the guest voices.

The proof of the accuracy of this episode is its qualification
jdmanriquef12 June 2020
I would dare to say that this episode actually predicted his own reception in it's 1st act: when Bart's gang blind their eyes as a protest without even watch the "new" Itchy and Scratchy (critisism without watching) I consider this episode is good because of the following reasons: 1. It takes current topics: feminism and political correction in a brilliant way, the critisism against feminists, media and the "Twitter hordes" represented by "Boys" gang is well Made, much better than most episodes of their last 15 seasons. 2. This very criticism is represented by their qualification as well, this mean that the episode generates love and hate, and only for this reason the episode fulfill it's objective.

The real reason this episode was made...
YesThisIsJay25 March 2019
Is to trigger both sides of this 'gender war', it's not even subtle..

In recent years its very common knowledge that Simpsons has become a shadow of its former self. Don't get me wrong, I still watch it while eating dinner, I find the occasional chuckle come out, but nothing more.

This episode was a lazy attempt at woke-controversy, to be nothing more than a little bit more relevant. The episode itself is definitely an example of why The Simpsons writers are heavily disconnected from both their audience and what made Simpsons originally great.

BUT...

Don't be mad that they portrayed the males as 'incels' and the females as 'feminazis', be mad at the writers for boiling down genders into these stereotypes with lazy writing for the sake of controversy.

Great episode
bertmest15 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I was very surprised that i loved this episode after looking at the general rating of 4.5, but i thought it had a great plot and some good jokes. It's a political episode and i get that if you're leaning to the right in your political views you will probably not enjoy this episode. So i get where some of the criticisms are coming from, but i personally think almost anyone or anything can be made fun of, including "the patriarchy" and so-called "toxic masculinity". I also don't see how this episode would betray Lisa's character as some reviews say because she has always been very leftist in her political views throughout the entire show and her eventually joining a protest group isn't such a far-fetched idea. It's not like she made the decision immediately out of nowhere. Finally, some of these reviews are really angry and bitter, why?? It's just a fictional animated show, relax. Even if it's your political/social views they targeted, who cares? Don't be so offended.

This episode never needed to be made
ickybert26 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As a women, this episode offended me. I felt the characters motivations were askew. These so-called feminist teenagers were fighting for such vapid reasons. Sandels? really... fighting for fashion? Making boys cry? Real feminists are rolling over in their graves right now. I've never had an episode leave me feeling so angry and dissapointed. I understand it's parody, but this one was completely unnecessary and not funny.

Oh jeepers.

This episode was BAD!!! You know the phrase "Get woke, go broke", THIS EXPLAINS IT, a month gone by, and you know going woke is bad when the only episode worse is LISA. GOES. GAGA. Yeah, the only episode worse than that is Lisa Goes Gaga. When first hearing the script title, i expected it to be kinda like that Treehouse of Horror sketch where bart goes in the TV and meets Itchy & Scratchy, but no!!! We have to have a "woke" message, and personally, it's not meant to be a south park-esque parody of liberals, it endorses them. If you want to watch a fun take on 3rd wave feminism, go watch modern South Park. This is why you don't go woke... as the only episode worse is literally Lisa Goes Gaga. If you have a film reel of the episode, burn it, VHS, smash it, DVD, also smash it, Blu-Ray, ALSO Smash it, Direc-TV, delete it! Only watch this once on Simpsons World just to get bragging rights, of course, with AdBlock. #GetWokeGoBroke.

It's over 😭😭😭😭 The Simpsons is dead. I had to turn this off it really is the worst episode ever. I won't bore you with the story, the makers have forgotten how to entertain an audience, an audience that has been loyal through a laugh drought.

Resorting to extremes
bkcJr77721 June 2019
I don't deny that there are definitely gender stereotypes. But I'm definitely positive the way to change that is not to go about it utilizing vandalism and potential violence. This episode seems to portray that that is the only way to change the side.

Lots of tears from upset broflakes!
CarlosTheHound10 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After a few weak episodes the Simpsons we get back on track. This episode which mocks the type of toxic fan boys who get extremely angry whenever their particular fandom casts anyone but a hetero white male in a leading role.

It clearly gets it's target spot on as is very clear from the reviews.

Uuuuggghhhhh

I don't like shows that are topical or have a message because they are usually not funny. And this episode tried way too hard and wasn't funny.

Hopefully next week's episode will be funny.

Not so much divisive as moronic
hddu10-819-3745827 July 2019
This is truly the year the Simpsons died, however I'm going to stick to this particular episode for this review. While the show has always been topical, in previous seasons the writers successful weaved in parody, sarcasm and a sense of ridiculousness to show us we really should lighten-up and laugh. However, this episode is pretty much a stream of preachy yet hollow feminist mantras with hat-tips to leftist symbolism ("see that!?? Bossy Riot? The knitted hats? These guys are WOKE as eff!!!") to let the viewers know exactly who is serving them their helping of Simpsons. To drive the point home, the left-leaning yet always rational-thinking, Lisa who at first shows hesitation on joining groups that take radical measures ends the episode showing America that this is actually a good thing, so go along with it...just because. And of course Bart himself validates this by showing his disdain for "the Patriarchy"; whatever that supposedly means in contemporary America where white women are the most privileged members of society. The only "funny" thing about this episode are all the idiots commenting here how the writers supposedly "trolled" us, and we didn't see it/get it. No, there is no "there" there...you're just an idiot for mistaking "pandering" for "trolling" because you want to find something of value in this completely unfunny, lackluster episode.

It jumped the shark...
promontorium199729 March 2019
Simpsons heyday is long gone and we can probably point several episodes where it jumped the shark. There wasn't an specific episode: Maude's death maybe? Perhaps anything past season 9? That was before.

We can now point exactly where Simpsons jumped the proverbial shark: Season 30, episode 18. Pure infamy: first episode where not even a single joke landed.

Simpsons trying to go full woke
Crystal_Dive27 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After the Gay Granddad episode, this is by far the worse yet in it's very long history.

Seemingly written by man-haters, the episode literally caps with Bart spraying "The Patriarchy is a wiener"

No semblance of honoring character personalities, and without any deftness in subtlety, this is a propaganda piece made by misandrists.

The episode starts of with belittling fans whom hate gender swaps ( it's still gender swapping male with females), then it goes towards belittling man-right organizations when these characters banded together to protest ( there is still a girl's scout but no more boy's scout), then the third act ends with justification of violence by females against males for no other reason then their gender.

Terrible , award-baiting rubbish of an episode.

A worse, more insulting, modern-day rehash of Girls Just Want to Have Sums.
adampkalb7 June 2019
This episode feels like it was written by a woman who had never seen The Simpsons and wanted to spout her exaggerated views on feminism. Almost everyone in this episode-on both sides-is a sexist jerk, and almost Raising Gazorpazorp levels of it. Lisa thinks Bart shouldn't advocate for women's rights because he is not a girl, and I don't think it should matter that Bart would laugh at the female Itchy and Scratchy, because he would laugh no matter what gender Itchy and Scratchy are. And isn't Pitch Perfect, the movie that the female Itchy and Scratchy episode was parodying (title: Pitchfork Perfect), already led by a mostly female cast? Both genders have their own media, we don't need female reboots of everything males originally led. Who's to say there won't be a male reboot of a female-led movie in 1 or 2 decades?

Boys v girls
paultapner24 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A topical episode in that it's all about people who get worked up about fictional things on television and online. So no wonder the low rating.

Krusty launches an all female reboot of Itchy and Scratchy. Bart and friends plan to protest. Bart laughs at it anyway. And as a result falls in with a gang of radical feminists.

This one is a step up after a short run of average episodes. It's got a good story. And it's consistently funny throughout. Giving Milhouse a good storyline as well. It's not the funniest ever, but it will consistently make you smile and a fair few points will make you laugh out loud.

It doesn't entirely hit the reset button either, so a bonus point for that.

Great scene during the end credits as well.

Not fun to watch if you're a troll. If you can be self depreciating though, this is good stuff.
