Tom Hiddleston is terrific as Loki
Rob133125 April 2024
Loki is a must watch for any Marvel fan! I'm a huge fan of Marvel and other superhero shows/movies so I may be a little biased but this is one of favorites series from the MCU. It's an action packed thriller from start to finish. This show will grab you and pull you into its world from the very first episode. The always brilliant Tom Hiddleston was absolutely terrific as Loki. You'll have so much fun watching this show that before you know it you'll have binged both seasons. Every episode is incredibly written. It had such high expectations and it not only met those expectations but surpassed them. There's really nothing else I can say about this show that hasn't already been said. I hope they renew this for a third season because this show deserves it.

True Marvel in a nutshell
harshacherukuvada31 March 2024
Loki is one of those projects in which Marvel has shown pure love and dedication into creating a cinematic masterpiece. This series definitely sits among the top Marvel movies and series, such as the original iron man movie.

The series may seem slightly dragging, where they may intentionally make the series slower for more episodes. But, it is definitely something you must watch once in your lifetime.

Loki is one of the Marvel projects that is single handedly holding the company, in contrast to its recent films and projects.

Overall, Loki is a gripping masterpiece with a wonderful cast, and definitely a watch even for non-marvel fans.

Loki is a great show
Kyle-Violett5 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1: It's been a while since I watched season 1, but from what I remember, I loved it! Tom Hiddleston is a great actor, and I love his performance as Loki. I loved his performance in the first Thor film, and I was thrilled to see that he got his own show. The TVA is a cool concept. Sophia Martino did a great job playing Sylvie.

Season 2: This season was even better. I was happy to see Loki getting another season, and I was even happier watching it. The story was a fun continuation from Season 1 and built off it really well. I think it was episode 4 of season 2 that ended with a cliffhanger, and it felt a little bittersweet, and episode 3 was a little slow for me, but over all, I loved Loki. I want to see a third season, but I doubt they will due to Season 2 finally seeming like the end of the whole show, but who knows?

Absolutely fire of 2 seasons, imo the best thing the MCU has produced next to infinity war and Endgame
kirpa-592609 March 2024
Incredible, all across the board, this is a reviews for 2 seasons and no spoilers

Best performance by Tom Huddleston, incredible acting by him and across the board by everyone on the cast, also special shout out for the actress who played Sylvie

Added an incredible amount of depth towards Loki's character that was unprecedented to me, instantly shot him up to one of my favourite characters ever and definitely within the MCU, many of the characters in the show have great evolution or a great end to their character arc, along with the plot also being an incredible driving factor in all of this with fantastic consequences

The music and sound design is also great, especially the main theme for this show, always hits hard when it pops out

The set design and special effects were also fantastic.

One of the best

From start to finish, this movie delivers an unparalleled cinematic experience. The sound design immerses you in every scene, while the stunning visual effects leave you in awe. The actors' performances are nothing short of exceptional, bringing depth and emotion to their characters. Every aspect of this film is executed at a superior level, leaving me truly captivated. It's a masterpiece that I absolutely loved.

This is by far the one of the best series ever made.

This TV-series is an unforgettable masterpiece that leaves a lasting impact. It's a reminder of the craving for more such high-quality films, as it's been a while since something of this caliber has graced the screen.

Strong story from start to finish
elaineyang-503151 April 2024
I've always been a fan of scifi and fantasy and Loki does a great job melding both. To be honest I've been disappointed with many Marvel releases as of late, either the plot is flat, characters are unlikable, humor is misplaced, etc. I was pleasantly surprised with Loki, not only is the concept super interesting, but delivery was solid from plot to characters to wit - both an entertaining and thought provoking watch. My biggest compliment is how well they nailed the ending, usually with shows that start strong it's difficult also to nail the ending in a concise but impactful and conclusive way. Not going to lie, sometimes I'm hesitant to watch a show because I don't want to get attached only for the ending to ruin the experience, but I'm glad to say Loki was solid from beginning to end.

Tom Hiddleston encompasses Loki so effortlessly and breathes life into the character with every nuanced expression. Owen and Ke Huy also steal the show, the on screen chemistry with everyone is so effortless and you can't help but find yourself routing for everyone.

Season 2 - Epic
rich-mac10 November 2023
I held off on this until the final episode. The series started brilliantly, and they packed an enormous amount into each episode - but as it became more complicated I became a little apprehensive about how it would all finish up - I shouldn't have been, they smashed it out of the park.

Episode 6 is one of the best episodes of TV I've ever watched - but that sounds redundant, because the standard is so high all round that it's top shelf movie quality production all the way.

Every aspect of production is so finely attuned that this was a joy to watch.

Having said that, it sounds like it was a show not a story, but make no mistake, this is a very self assured piece of story telling controlled with real finesse.

Loki season 2 is a comfortable 9.5 in my book - a really well crafted epic journey.

The best film
yahaira-729-69470130 January 2024
An incredible journey through the multiverse. The writing is tight and super interesting by captivating conceptual realities with engaging visuals. The exploration of Loki's journey to enlightenment past his villainous trajectory with the past, his brother Thor, the war with Thantatos and his family hierarchy back in Arsgard all probable realities coalesce in this fantasy. Tom Hilldleton and Owen Wilson have an incredible witty bantar throughout that keeps getting better. Please give them best actor awards. This is a must watch it twice just to savior the nuances of these fantastic characters. The whole cast is great and if you love quantum physics you'll love this. Cheers.

Great Full On Series
RECB327 January 2024
This is an alright full on series for all viewers to watch. It seems like the crew were very particular when they were creating this series. The storyline of this series was a bit too much. It strongly flowed throughout the entire series. The cast selection was splendid. They deeply committed and connected to the storyline and to their respective characters. The chemistry between the cast members was fairly strong. Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson always work great together. This series reveals to viewers that it is difficult to trust anyone in the world of today. I learned that it is best not to trust anyone in life, not even yourself. This is a terrific full on series for all viewers to watch.

Loki: Seasons 1 & 2 - Thor's trickster brother excels in two seasons of a show where he seeks GLORIOUS PURPOSE
hoernkeem1 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Loki season 1 (2021, Disney+) Eric's Grade: A 'Loki' at first glance may have seemed like an afterthought to other MCU shows such as 'WandaVision' and 'Falcon and the Winter Soldier', but as the series drew closer this definitely seemed like it was going to be much more interesting than I originally thought. It also opens up some very interesting doors for the MCU as a whole, and all we can do is wonder, for now, where those doors will lead. We thought that 'WandaVision' was going to be the show to inject the multiverse into the MCU lexicon, but in reality 'Loki' has pulled the pin on that grenade with 'Avengers: Endgame' laying the groundwork. 'Loki' season 1 is a six episode run on Disney+ and stars Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the God of Mischief. I am amazed at how different these first three series have been and how they really seem to defy any easy genre classification. In fact the Wikipedia article on 'Loki' lists its genres as action adventure, crime thriller, fantasy, procedural drama, science fiction and superhero. It is also quite interesting that I walked into this really without much in the way of expectations and that allowed the show to really forge an unexpected path which felt fresh, new and utterly delightful. So deep into the MCU as a storytelling entity it is nice to know then can still generate original stories while continuously tying all the content together. As good as this is it still felt like only part of a story ending on a pretty extreme cliffhanger which apparently they realized as in lieu of their standard end credit scene they literally just said Loki will return in season 2.

So how exactly is there a Loki show when the Loki we all love to almost hate was dispatched by Thanos in 'Avengers: Endgame'? When the Avengers concocted the plan the retrieve Infinity Stones from the past the idea of the multiverse and branch timelines was introduced and discussed for a minute between Banner and the Ancient One. In a failed attempt to retrieve the Tesseract Loki picked it up and vanished, and up until now that has never been addressed. That Loki is the one we are following on this story. The idea of multiple versions of the same character existing in different timelines is the core concept of this series. A mysterious agency tracks Loki down and brings him to a place seemingly out of time called the TVA. Here we get a decent amount of exposition on how everything is supposed to work. It is a tutorial for Loki, but also functions as such for the audience as well. Basically there exists a sacred timeline. The TVA was created by entities known as the Timekeepers to preserve the timeline and when people like this Loki divert from the predetermined path it creates a branch that must be fixed and the 'variant' as they call the offending parties are pruned which we think is killed but later find out they are really just sent to a void at the end of time. We meet Owen Wilson's TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius who is at first at odds with Loki but enlists his aid to help him track down a dangerous variant killing his colleagues. The variant as it turns out is another Loki. The first part of the series deals with finding this other Loki who turns out to be a female variant played by Sophia Di Martino who calls herself Sylvie. Her and Loki not only end up revealing the TVA to be somewhat of a sham or at least the Timekeepers part as well as all people working there are variants, but also start to fall for each other which is weird on a lot of levels but they have good chemistry so we just kind of go with it.

Once the sham is revealed in a very 'Wizard of Oz' type scene they both wind up getting to the void at the end of time where we meet a bunch of Loki variants including a wonderful version of classic Loki played by Richard E. Grant and even an alligator Loki. Kid Loki here was disappointing as he just did not seem to be well cast which is rare for Marvel. Beyond this void Loki and Sylvie find the Citadel at the End of Time where they meet He Who Remains played by Jonathan Majors. He reveals he is behind the TVA with the basic premise of keeping an evil version of himself from taking control of the multiverse. He leaves the decision up to Loki and Sylvie what to do with him. She wants him dead no matter what, but Loki thinks they should give it some thought. This causes a rift between them. We do get a kiss between them but in the end Sylvie is able to send Loki back to the TVA trapping him there so she can then kill He Who Remains. The death scene is very underwhelming and I know this is technically Disney but still that should have had a bit more panache. She is left unsatisfied meanwhile in a very 'Planet of the Apes' moment Mobius does not recognize Loki back at the TVA and we pan to a huge statue of Jonathan Majors in lieu of the Timekeepers indicating that the dangerous variant of him has already arisen to power, and that's where it ends! Still so many questions.

It is funny because we have been led to believe that watching the Disney+ streaming shows was not vital to understanding film continuity, but as these shows continue to blast big holes and open up pretty large doors in the MCU I don't know how that is possible. The writers and showrunners are also starting to rely more and more on the viewers having a pretty deep knowledge of Marvel lore. I am not certain it is a requirement but it greatly enhances the experience if you understand how much stuff they are inserting from the comics such as all the Loki variants who all exist in the comics. Sylvie seems more like a version of the Enchantress from the comics more than an actual Loki variant. The judge Renslayer is from the comics and gives a key hint to the identity of who is all behind this based on what you know of her from the comics. Mobius is also a character from the comics as well as the demon smoke monster Alioth. The most interesting tidbit along these lines though is man behind the curtain, Jonathan Majors and his character. He references himself as He Who Remains which is an entity in the comics associated with the TVA and the Timekeepers, however, that is not really who he is playing, or more likely they are wrapping He Who Remains into the mythos of another character. He is really here to be Kang the Conqueror, who is going to turn out to be the more dangerous variant of himself he referenced before dying, and I am not sure if they expect a casual audience to know this or if they just feel like it is not vital information at this point yet. We know Jonathan Majors is Kang because Disney announced he was cast as that character in the next Ant-Man movie.

This show really does quite a bit in 6 episodes. It has wonderful re

Loki season 2 (2023, Disney+) Eric's Grade: B Season 2 of 'Loki' focuses on the continuing adventures of Thor's brother as he navigates a secret time safeguarding organization known as the TVA. Tom Hiddleston returns as the titular God of Mischief, and the show features many returning cast members from the previous season. Most notable of new cast additions is Ke Huy Quan as TVA employee Ouroboros. While 'Loki' fits in the MCU as a whole the show has a primarily self contained story isolated to the previous season as well as this one. 'Loki' season 2 utilized a weekly release schedule airing its six episodes on the Disney+ streaming service from October to November 2023.

Season 1 ends on a tad of a cliffhanger that feeds directly into the direction of season 2. Sylvie, a Loki variant, has killed He Who Remains at the end of time thinking she was setting timelines free. Instead He claimed he was really keeping many dangerous versions of himself at bay which, upon his death, will now be free to spill forth causing mayhem and chaos. Loki as a result of Sylvie's action wound up back at the TVA at a point where he was unknown, and Kang, the next ubervillain played by Jonathan Majors, was starting to take a major foothold. The balance of the show is Loki trying to keep his small group of TVA friends/team together in order to somehow save the sacred timeline that threatens to burst free of its confines. There is a lot of comic book style science thrown around, but you just sort of have to roll with it. As everything they do seems to fail Loki is confronted with an ultimate decision on a possible solution, but will he see it through to a universe saving conclusion or revert to a selfish Loki of old?

There is a lot to like in 'Loki' season 2 and while you cannot point to this show as MCU salvation or something that points the whole universe in the right direction this is still an excellent companion to the first season and provides a good next chapter for the character, and quite possibly a final chapter depending on how they want to proceed. The elephant in the room is Jonathan Majors who, due to legal issues, is no longer in the MCU, which is a problem considering he was supposed to be the next Thanos level villain, and 'Loki' did most of the heavy lifting to set up his storyline so as an integral part to the MCU this show now falters as the whole story may be scrapped. That aside you can still watch and enjoy the show for its great characters, engaging story and good special effects for a Disney+ show. I love the production design of the TVA which is reminiscent of 'Severance' or the Dharma stations from 'Lost'. Hiddleston clearly loves the charater of Loki and as a result throws his all into his performance, and Owen Wilson's Mobius serves as an excellent counter point to him. I will say that the comic science and convoluted goal of the season is on the wacky side, but then again it is a comic book movie set at a weird organization that somehow exists outside of time so you have to take certain things with a grain of salt. A great cast comes together to make an exciting and entertaining show that, despite the future of the MCU, deserves to watched and appreciated.

One of the few series with a great ending.
scarletframe23 January 2024
Writing this after finishing the last episode, I can be happy and grateful this got made. 7/10 for something was lacking in in, hard to say what. It is not the story, for it was amazing. It was not for the casting for it was amazing. It was not for the meaning for it was great. It was not for the CGI for it was first class. It was not for the vibe for it was some of the best I have experienced. This was a truly worthy marvel series.

Maybe if they had cut it 10% shorter I would have given it 10/10, maybe. There were some off scenes and off episodes but they were accompanied with greatness. Well done.

Lets sit and talk
tonymitsinga23 October 2021
Even if you ignore the character plot hole of Endgame Loki acting like Ragnarok Loki, this series itself is cinematically poorly paced, dragged out and full of exposition, half the time the characters are either walking somewhere or sitting and talking - I think the ending and fandom have overrated this snail trail.

A Master Piece!
aady142 February 2024
Couldn't get any better at it, may it be the story, acting and direction. The climax was so fulfilling and made all sense of all the complexities. Yes there are few episodes where it felt a little mundane and no clear sense of what all is happening, but if you hold on till the end all will fall in place. I am glad, i did hold on till the end!

Tom and rest of the team did an excellent work. Kudos to the story writer and director for making this masterpiece. Only such classics dare to challenge to think differently, tend viewers to think differently and eventually give some food for thought about what is the time, reality, science, fiction and ultimately the purpose of all of it!

Great addition to the MCU
Supermanfan-1313 December 2023
Loki was even better than I thought it would be and is easily one of the best Marvel series to date! If you didn't like this then it's probably because you didn't want to like it and just not a fan of Marvel otherwise what were you expecting that you didn't get? Did you not see the trailer or know the history of the character? Besides Thanos, Loki is easily the next best villain/antihero in the MCU! What more can be said about Tom Hiddleston that hasn't already been said? He's such an underrated actor and his best work has come as Loki. Also, this is one of the best performances of Owen Wilson's career, he is just fantastic in it! I really can not recommend this incredible series enough.

Loki is absolutely mind blasting
jubaldacunha23 January 2024
The entire show is extremely well done and I couldn't emphasize more on this. Right from the CGI to the entire cast it's absolutely brilliant. The story, and the little details (be sure to pay attention) really can catch your attention.

I have to say that the show is super creative and the ideas gone into this series is a 10/10.

After Iron it's hard to find any marvel show that can really live up to the Marvel Name that iron man had built. And I would definitely say that Loki sits right on top as my most favorite marvel show.

Loki includes great concepts of time, space and mystery. Binge watched the entire thing.

Loki: "For all time. Always."
PedroReviews24 January 2024
Marvel's Loki is a captivating and thought-provoking television series that delves into the complex and intriguing character of Loki, the God of Mischief. The show masterfully explores themes of identity, free will, and the nature of reality, while expanding the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in unexpected and exciting ways.

Tom Hiddleston delivers a compelling performance as Loki, capturing the character's mischievous charm, cunning intellect, and underlying vulnerability with a convincing blend of humor and depth. The supporting cast is equally impressive, with Owen Wilson as the charming and unpredictable Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as the enigmatic Ravonna Renslayer, and Sophia Di Martino as the mysterious Sylvie, providing Loki with intriguing companions and adversaries throughout his journey.

Loki's story takes him on a mind-bending journey through the vast expanse of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization tasked with maintaining the sacred timeline of the multiverse. As Loki grapples with his past actions and attempts to escape the TVA's clutches, he encounters a vast array of alternate versions of himself, each with their own unique perspectives and motivations.

The show's exploration of time travel and the multiverse is both entertaining and engaging. It raises intriguing questions about the nature of reality, the consequences of altering the past, and the possibility of multiple universes existing simultaneously. Loki's journey through these concepts adds a new layer of complexity to the MCU's mythology, while providing ample opportunities for thrilling action sequences and thought-provoking philosophical musings.

Personally, Season 1 of Loki is stronger than Season 2, but both seasons offer engaging narratives and captivating character development. Season 1 excels in its exploration of Loki's complex psychology and his journey of self-discovery, while Season 2 delves deeper into the mysteries of the multiverse and introduces new and intriguing elements to the MCU.

Loki is a worthwhile watch for fans of the MCU and science fiction. While it doesn't quite reach the heights of the very best Marvel shows, it offers a captivating and thought-provoking adventure that will keep you entertained and engaged.

Tom Hiddleston is great, but everything else not so much.
mmjfh15 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It goes without saying that Tom Hiddleston is great as Loki, but I fear for the future of Marvel on TV, if they have to rely so heavily on star power. Despite the interesting world building, this show suffers from the same problems that plagued the previous The Falcon show. A weak female lead in Lady Loki, who just doesn't hold a candle to Hiddleston in terms of charm and charisma. The TVA's power levels are wildly inconsistent or just plain poorly written. Sometimes they can beat and handle a God like they're children, but sometimes they seem like they wouldn't be able to stop a shoplifter. I enjoyed the finale only because of it's implications for the future of the MCU, not because it was well written or executed. I found it at times clumsy and overly ambitious, with arbitrary solutions to seemingly impossible problems. As much as I love the MCU, I wish they would cut down on the number of new shows, and focus on maintaining quality. Overall, they're still good, but they could be better. Especially with the upcoming slate featuring many obscure characters that lacks a strong and deep library of published content to draw from.

Warning: Spoilers
This show was rather weird experience. It had it's fair share of plot holes, but the pacing was the hardest thing to digest.

At least half of every episode was just talking over the table, revealing very little. Take away great acting performances from Tom and Owen, and you have very little left. It's great to have high quality actors, but weak script is weak script.

And why is everyone in TVA human from Earth and everyone else is human lookalike? We saw in Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor what the universe looks like.

The potential.
etzvetanov18 January 2024
A perfect show hitting every goal, that it sets for itself in every aspect. Bravo to absolutely everybody involved! A masterpiece! There is not one actor, not one scene, not line that seems cheesy and forced. Furthermore everything is deep and sophisticated and multilayered to unexpected levels and obviosly a very well made work of art.

Watching this show gives me a bittersweet feelings for what disney and marvel can achieve if they set their true focus on making great art, instead of pushing political narratives, which obviously everybody rejects with disgust.

Let's hope that this show is rhe guiding light, that will lead this industry behemoth on their true path.

Ultimately disappointing after some promise
emmaruby-9030714 August 2021
Even Tom's and Owen's chemistry couldn't save this poorly written series. Hate that Loki has now become a clown-like character and simply doesn't exude danger and charisma like he used to.

Sylvie is just annoying and rather one dimensional - she is apparently a Loki but displays none of the glamour or brooding menace I associate with the film Lokis. The 'romance' between her and Loki is just feels wrong and cringy. Either make it properly chaste like brother and sister or make it have some passion to it rather than somewhere weird in the middle.

I hope series 2 is a whole lot better written and gives us some edginess back to Loki so everyone can remember why so many of us found him so attractive in the first place.

Special mention to Richard E Grant in ep 5 - did a fantastic job of classic Loki and is an all-round national treasure!

This made be fan of Loki. I would rate this Infinity out of 10. This is the best series ever made.
FanOfSuperHeroes10 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As someone who loves science fiction movies, this series was better than a movie. However, it is kindly short and I wished there were more episode but that's it. Loki went on from being a "Puny God" to the owner of the multiverse. I like the fact they have combined science from real life and pretend to sound it realistic, like plenty of possibilities, if time travel was not a science fiction. To be honest, this, series really made me a fan of Loki, the greatest super hero and super villain of all time. I mean he went on from being a stupid villain who want to take over Asgard to the most intelligent scientist that ever lived. I don't know what they are going to do with Loki in the future, but this is the best thing MCU has ever done. In terms of storyline, this is better than the Avengers Endgame. Tom Hiddleston just submitted his legacy as one of the greatest performers in cinema with his acting in this series. Hats off the writer, hats off to the director, and hats off to everybody involved in this series. I like stories more than action and this series just delivered that. I'm totally happy that I got to watch a series so good in a decade or long. The visuals were excellent too. It's a thumbs up from my side.

A bit realism, even more surrealism
jlfinkels-9451412 December 2023
If you are here looking for a continuance of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you may be in for a bit of a surprise. It is not your typical MCU fair as it is much more cerebral with characters discussing motivations.

The series begins strongly with character introductions and building what will be become relationships as the shows progress. Enemies become friends, friends become enemies, and others float somewhere between good and evil. Most characters are complex and multi-faceted in their reasons for what they believe and why.

The acting is first rate, with a few nice surprises as they introduce new characters with some unexpected actors playing the roles. The photography is well done with frequent multi-perspective shots that add to the detail in the created worlds. Lighting is some of the best recent work I can recall with some scenes reminiscent of the amazing shadow work done in the original Frankenstein. Some of the scenery and effects are original and quite well done.

Overall a most enjoyable series. I was drawn into it much more than I expected and looked forward to the next episode. It will be interesting to see what the team comes up with for their next effort. If this is any indication of what they can do, it should be quite enjoyable.
