Both are remarkable actors with different voices, but they both played the blond antagonist in their early days, and to this day play the hero-you-cannot trust. Here's a test: ask non-fans which one of them starred in their movies of the 1980s and 1990s.

Gerard's breakthrough came when Clive Owen shot up in popularity, with speculation that he would be the next James Bond. Gerard campaigned to be James Bond. Instead he seemed to take several roles that were made with Clive Owen in mind. After "300", he made his own distinct career.
