my Favourite horror (dark and poetic)
by nashhadar | created - 24 Jul 2020 | updated - 2 weeks ago | Public1. for me, scary horror films must be supernatural: all home invasions, rapes, tortures and other forms of human cruelty in movies are not scary just sad. 2. having said that, zombies, vampires, explicit creatures, aliens, UFOs, cheap CGI or possessions by a talkative demon are too stupid for me as well. 3. if i start watching a movie and there are people fly or float by themselfs, a chopper, a gun, a pool party, an extrocism, silicone boobs, spaceship or a chase by any kind of vehicle i know should turn it off. this ground rules have helped me waste my time on films i may actually like. 4. when it comes to horror i think that less is more. the most terrifying films are less bloody and violent than the average horror film. 5. therefore slashers are usually a turn off. along with american blockbusters, 25 year old or more films, sexiness, all forms of female objectification, films located in offices or with any urban high-tech tones, young good looking actors, body horror, movies that start with a happy family, spring break films and all kind of battles with the evil entity. 6. distortions of time and place as a horror effect are my favorites. it dosent need to make a total sense but have to be coherent within the movie plot itself. this is hard enough. 7. vintage wallpaper, carnivals, occult signs, old victorian houses, curses, flashbacks, any reference to folk tales or fairytales, amusement parks, haunted battlefields, magic, scarecrows or clowns, rural locations, boats, hotels, caves, japanese anything, secret doors, less than 6 actors in cast and overall bleak and dark tone are a complete turn on. 8. good horror film can never have an happy end.
