It is indisputable that the Netflix series Iron Fist, starring Finn Jones on Netflix, struggled to garner favorable reviews. Scott Buck’s series has a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, with a 71% favorability rating, it somehow garnered slightly higher respect from the review aggregator’s audience.
Its cancellation in 2018 was a further letdown. Since then, fans of the character have expressed a keen interest in seeing Jones reprise his role as Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite years after the show and its lackluster reception, there is a growing call for Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to give Jones “another chance” to play the iconic martial arts hero on the big screen.

The Tremors 4: The Legend Begins episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Ric Solomon, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
The subterranean creatures known as Graboids are prehistoric life-forms. And the first Tremors movie wasn’t the story of humanity’s first encounter with them. In fact, there was a series of Graboid attacks just one hundred years earlier. Four movies into the Tremors franchise, we got a prequel that took us back to the Old West for a tale of cowboys and monsters. It’s Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (watch it Here) – which turned out to be the least successful installment in the series. We’re going to try to figure out why in this episode of What the F*ck Happened to This Horror Movie!

For better or for worse, there's a lot of turnover in the world of television. While it can happen onscreen occasionally, as we recently saw with Henry Cavill in "The Witcher," this especially applies behind the scenes. Almost every day there's news about shows adding new writers or swapping showrunners. For example, after a tumultuous first season on Netflix under the guidance of Scott Buck, Marvel's "Iron Fist" rebounded with a better (but overall still not great) second season helmed by Raven Metzner before getting canceled. Speaking of shows based on beloved comic book characters, the adaptation of Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" on AMC had four different showrunners over the course of their eleven-season run. Luckily for them, only one of those instances resulted in a lawsuit (which was eventually settled outside of court).

This installment of Phantom Limbs finds us cutting into the first proposed spinoff of Showtime’s popular serial killer series Dexter, featuring Six Feet Under star Michael C. This article contains spoilers for Dexter: New Blood.
It was easy to be skeptical when Dexter: New Blood was first announced. The descent into ignominy of the original series is well documented by this point, with the Monty Python-evoking finale infamous even among those who never watched the show.
But a dud finale wasn’t Dexter’s only crime, nor the only reason a continuation was a dicey proposition. While the first four seasons remain respected for their dark humor, thorny moral questions, and devastating twists, the second half of the series did everything in its power to squander any goodwill. The finale cops a lot of flack, but it’s still not as bad as the entire run of Dexter’s bafflingly awful sixth season. That the ending would fail to impress after such lows was, really, a foregone conclusion.
As such nobody was exactly losing their minds over the prospect of a revival,...

In the pantheon of shows known for having the “worst series finale” of all time, Showtime’s “Dexter” is right at the top. Since the episode titled “Remember the Monsters?” originally aired eight years ago, anti-hero serial killer Dexter Morgan faking his own death and pivoting to becoming a lumberjack has been a shorthand for what a show shouldn’t do when it finally ends, even if it’s ending on top or on its own terms. And while “Dexter” remained a hit for Showtime — lasting 96 episodes over eight seasons — plenty of arguments have been made by fans and critics that the series should’ve ended with its fourth season, the much beloved Trinity Killer (John Lithgow) season. That would also be the final season with original series showrunner Clyde Phillips — who is back as showrunner for “Dexter: New Blood” — before series writer Scott Buck took the reins.

In the entire history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Inhumans holds not one but two unique and unwanted distinctions. Not only was it the only movie that was officially announced and given a release date that never actually got made, but the characters then became the subject of Marvel’s only small screen adaptation that was canceled after one season.
Whenever somebody tries to tell you that the McU can do no wrong, all you have to do is point them in the direction of Inhumans. After plans for their big screen debut were eventually abandoned, the concept was first introduced in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before a more comic book-accurate depiction of the team became the subjects of their own TV spinoff.

It’s been a strange couple of weeks to be a fan of Marvel TV. On the one hand, we’ve had Daredevil season 3 to binge-watch, which is perhaps the best thing that’s come out of the union between Netflix and the House of Ideas. On the other hand, though, both Iron Fist and Luke Cage have been mercilessly cancelled by the streaming service. Sure, they each received mixed reviews in their first and second seasons, but they were still solid entertainment for superhero lovers. So, with that in mind, it makes us wonder why Netflix cut them down in their prime?
Well, according to some new info from The Hollywood Reporter, we might now know the reason. THR’s unnamed “source” tells them that Luke Cage wasn’t axed due to a ratings drop in its recent second season. This was generally assumed to be the thinking behind the move,...

It turns out the Iron Fist isn’t so immortal after all. Marvel and Netflix have announced that the maligned superhero drama, which courted a whitewashing controversy prior to airing and has received generally negative reviews throughout its run, has been canceled after two seasons.
Finn Jones played the title character, who also appeared in the crossover drama “Defenders” — a kind of small-screen “Avengers” that saw the Iron Fist team up Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), and Luke Cage (Mike Colter).
“‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Marvel and Netflix said in a statement. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series.

Marvel’s “Iron Fist” will not return for a third season, a Netflix representative confirmed to Variety.
“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal ‘Iron Fist‘ will live on.”
Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series starred Finn Jones as Danny Rand, a martial arts expert with a mystical power called the “Iron Fist.” Despite its premiere being the most binge-watched drama on Netflix in 2017, critics panned the show’s first season as lacking originality and spark.

(Warning: This story contains spoilers for the second season of “Marvel’s Iron Fist”)
Netflix’s corner of Marvel’s cinematic universe had received widespread acclaim for its first three series in “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage.” But “Iron Fist” became the first Marvel property set inside the McU to receive nearly universal derision.
But something funny happened when the show returned for its second season, which premiered last Friday: The widely-mocked series got good.
For season two, out was Scott Buck, who initially created the series for Netflix, and in was “Sleepy Hollow” veteran Raven Metzner. Metzner actually pitched a version of “Iron Fist” when Marvel and Netflix were first developing it, and was well aware of the criticisms that the first season faced.

Netflix’s ‘Iron Fist’: The Supporting Cast Steals The Show In The Greatly Improved Season 2 [Review]
When Marvel first announced that “Iron Fist” would be joining Netflix’s growing slate of Marvel Cinematic Universe (McU) original television series with Scott Buck as showrunner, comic book fans and casual McU viewers alike anticipated something pleasantly different than the typically dark, brooding character iterations already established. Indeed, audiences saw a show with an entirely different tone and feel than those of “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” and “Luke Cage,” but not in a good way; “Iron Fist” was ridiculed by both fans and critics for being tonally uneven, cloyingly gleeful, miscast, and poorly written and executed, particularly in its fight scenes.

“Six Feet Under” holds a special place in Carrie Brownstein’s heart as the first show she ever binged. Of course, this was years before streaming, and she didn’t even have HBO at the time, so the “Portlandia” co-creator and star did it the old-fashioned way: She rented the series on video.
“Six Feet Under” was one of the shows that ushered in the new golden age of TV. For Brownstein, it also produced one of her favorite episodes of TV of all time, the Season 4 episode “That’s My Dog.”
“This episode, in particular what I like about it is that it took huge risks with its audience,” Brownstein said. “As someone who makes television taking that kind of risk, I see it now as a precedent that other people have done. They take the audience expectation and they subvert it. I don’t think in this case it was manipulative.

Following the critical success and popularity of “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” and “Luke Cage,” the 2017 Scott Buck-ran “Iron Fist” became the fourth series in the Netflix–Marvel collaboration. Unfortunately, however, unlike the three preceding series, “Iron Fist” faced colossal critical criticism – many claiming the series to be unoriginal and narratively distracted.

Just as Aquaman is about to place Arthur Curry in his famous green-and-orange ensemble, it’s looking increasingly likely that Danny Rand is on the verge of donning his own classic costume.
From what we understand, footage for Iron Fist season 2 shown at Comic-Con included a shot of Finn Jones’ street-level hero replete with that signature mask. Our Defender was seen fighting alongside Davos (Sacha Dhawan), too, as they began their preparations for the ultimate test: a fight against Shou-Lao the Undying.
Mind you, it wasn’t a full costume reveal, and Marvel and Netflix seem pretty intent on letting things develop organically before Danny Rand is in the right mind frame to suit up as New York’s latest hero – presumably in place of Daredevil, who’s still on bedrest until further notice.

Spare a thought for poor Danny Rand.
The confident – and often cocky – Defender struggled to leave much of an impression on fans during Iron Fist season 1, after critics and viewers called out the show for its slow pace and weak storytelling. So whereas Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage had all performed relatively well throughout their standalone series, Danny Rand soon became the odd one out for Netflix and Marvel Television.
Season 2 hopes to change all that though with a leaner episode count and well-rounded characters – lead star Finn Jones (Danny Rand) has even told us that Iron Fist‘s sophomore solo outing will be unlike anything we’ve seen before. And while we’re still not sure if that’ll be true, the first trailer (seen above) certainly has us excited.

Going into Iron Fist season 2, fans have a lot of questions. Will it be more exciting than the first outing? Will the pacing be better? Will the fight choreography be improved? And just who is Alice Eve playing?
Well, we still can’t answer the first three with any amount of certainty, but what we can tell you is that Eve’s taking on the role of none other than Mary Walker Aka Typhoid Mary, who’s a major figure in Daredevil lore. This might suggest that the Man Without Fear could be involved, too, but for now, that’s just pure speculation on our part.
For those unfamiliar with Mary, she’s “a mutant who who becomes an assassin for various criminal enterprises, including Wilson Fisk and the Hand. She has telekinesis, but one of her defining characteristics is a result of dissociative identity disorder, with three personalities that...

Marvel's Inhumans series ended up being a big let down for both Marvel and the fans. After being in denial for awhile, ABC finally announced that the show was canceled. But that doesn't mean that one day we might see the characters of Inhumans return in some way.
Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb was recently a part of a Reddit Ama, and one fan asked him if there was a chance that some of the Inhumans characters could return in another Marvel series, and Loeb didn't rule out the possibility.
Comment from discussion I'm Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV - Ama..
I guess anything is possible. Personally, I think if we ever see the Inhumans again it needs to be rebooted in movie form by the creative team at Marvel Studios. The TV team had their chance but they just couldn't deliver.

While most of the television output to have come from Marvel over the past several years has been generally well received by both fans and critics alike, one of the outliers in the franchise was the first season of Netflix’s Iron Fist, which was largely considered to be the dullest, most unaccomplished outing for the McU yet on the small screen (at least, until Inhumans came along). Still, the studio decided to order up a second outing and now, Marvel and the streaming service will be hoping to turn things around.

While most of Marvel’s TV shows have been generally well received by both fans and critics, one of the outliers in the franchise was the first season of Netflix’s Iron Fist, which was largely seen as the dullest, most unaccomplished outing for the McU yet on the small screen (at least, until Inhumans came along). As such, Marvel Television and the streaming service will be hoping to turn things around for season 2.
While some might be suspicious that the series can step it up, star Finn Jones has already promised us that the next run will be a significant improvement. In fact, he’s even gone so far as to tease that season 2 will be “unlike anything we’ve seen before.” That’s a bold claim, but given that we’ve also heard from a few other sources that the show will be drastically improved when it returns,...

Can we chalk this up to man's inhumanity to man? ABC has cancelled Marvel's Inhumans TV show after just one season. ABC has canceled freshman dramas “Inhumans,” “Deception,” “The Crossing,” and “Kevin Probably Saves the World” after one season each.
“Inhumans” starred Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Ken Leung as Karnak, Ellen Woglom as Louise, Sonya Balmores as Auran and Mike Moh as Triton. Henry Ian Cusick guest stars as Dr. Evan Declan.
The series, which was a Marvel and IMAX project, was co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios. It was executive produced by Scott Buck, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
“Deception” centered on magician Cameron Black (Jack Cutmore-Scott) who, once ostracized from the world of illusions due to a scandalous car accident that left a woman dead, used his skills in the art of deception to aid the FBI in catching elusive criminals.

Marvel’s Inhumans will not see a second season. ABC has canceled the action drama series.
The decision is not a surprise. The show premiered to modest ratings on ABC following its two-episode debut in Imax theaters two weeks before its linear premiere, and it never picked up steam. Box office receipts of $3.5 million disappointed all involved, and the show drew negative reviews from critics.
Marvel’s Inhumans explored the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family, including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans. After the family is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii, where they are greeted with surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them. Now they must find a way to reunite with each other and return to their home before their way of life is destroyed forever.

Spoiler TV noticed that ABC has removed Marvel's Inhumans from their press site, which is leading them and many others to speculate that the series has been canceled. If the series was quietly canceled, I don't think it would surprise anyone.
I tried watching the series, but it just wasn't a very good series. It could have and should have been so much better than what we got. It's a shame that this comic book series and the characters that filled it didn't get the adaptation they deserved.
Regardless of what I think, there are fans that actually did enjoy the show! When they found out that the series was most likely canceled, a group of fans actually launched a petition to renew the series for Season 2. Here’s an excerpt from the campaign’s mission statement:
The show had a decent story while every actor involved gave the best he could.

Inhumans might be far and away the most critically-reviled entry in the whole wide Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it’s worth remembering that not every single Marvel fan hates it. In fact, some found it to be a relatively enjoyable slice of superhero entertainment and are now miffed about rumours that the show may be cancelled after just one season.
One such fan has been motivated to create a petition on Change.org calling for Marvel to give the series another chance. The petition comes with a lengthy and well-balanced essay which admits the faults that the first season of Inhumans suffered from but also points out why it would be wrong to give it a premature chop.
Here’s how the creator put it:

Proving that even overwhelmingly negative reviews can’t keep a Marvel franchise down, work has now begun on the second season of Netflix’s Iron Fist, with two new set photos leaking from the production.
The pics show Finn Jones back in character as Danny Rand Aka the Immortal Iron Fist (he’s the Protector of K’un-l’un and the Sworn Enemy of the Hand, don’t you know?) on the streets of New York. The second photo also sees him joined by on-screen love interest Jessica Henwick, reprising her role as kickass martial artist Colleen Wing.
The last time we saw Danny and Colleen was in The Defenders, where they’d joined with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and their allies to defeat the Hand once and for all. The experience had a big impact on Danny, in particular, as he was left with a greater sense of...

It's looking even more likely that Marvel's Inhumans TV show will be cancelled by ABC. Above and beyond floundering in the bottom of the ratings' barrel, it seems like word of the cancellation could be leaking to the larger ABC-Marvel television family. During last weekend's Heroes and Villains Fan Fest San Jose panel, Marvel's Agents of Shield star Ming-Na reportedly almost used the word "cancelled," when answering a fan's question about potential crossovers between the ABC TV series. Having spent so long twiddling his thumbs in the shadows of Hell’s Kitchen, The Punisher has officially placed his crosshairs on a November 17th premiere date, meaning Frank Castle is the man of the hour within Marvel and Netflix’s camp.
But in the fallout of The Defenders, which undershot all expectations to become one of Netflix’s least-watched superhero series, the online streamer is now making preparations for a brand new batch of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
Filming on Jessica Jones season 2 has already wrapped, and though David Tennant’s mind-bending villain was sent to meet his maker back in 2016, it’s since been confirmed that Kilgrave will continue to haunt the fractured mind of Jessica next year. Elsewhere, Daredevil recently welcomed the return of Wilson Fisk (Aka Kingpin), while the second season of Luke Cage will feature an upgraded version of Misty Knight.

The second season of “Luke Cage” appears to be coming together nicely, but the latest news might be cause for concern. IndieWire has not been shy about its disdain for the drearily one-note “Iron Fist,” but at this point, it’s almost too easy to pile on the gripes and it’s become boring as well. Yes, the character (and to an extent, the acting) has been problematic, but in the interests of trying to keep an open mind and playing devil’s advocate to the knee-jerk resistance to all things Iron Fist, we’ve racked our brains to figure out the upside to this development.

We don't really know yet if Marvel's Inhumans is going to be successful enough for the network to want to renew it for a second season, but chances are it's not going to happen. I'll be shocked if it does. Hell, even if the series actually ends up being great, the negativity behind it is already so bad that I don't think anything can save it at this point.
Regardless, showrunner Scott Buck is very optimistic about how things are coming along. He's so optimistic that he already has plans and ideas for Season 2. While talking to Collider, he explains:

Inhumans is due to premiere tonight on ABC, but advance word after its brief run at IMAX theatres has not been good. Rotten Tomatoes has concluded that the show “sets a new low standard for the McU,” with reviewers criticizing its soapy melodramatics and an overall air of cheapness. Ouch!
It’s probably a decent prediction that Marvel’s ready to wholly disregard the entire project and will probably be busily pretending the whole thing never happened by Christmas. But, displaying an admirable optimism, showrunner Scott Buck is already making plans for season 2 and beyond.
In a recent interview, he said the following:

Marvel has planted its seeds far and wide over the past few years in the television landscape, but that volume has so far yielded mixed results.
While rival DC has found success by focusing on familiar franchises like “The Flash,” “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” and the Batman origins tale on “Gotham,” Marvel has been a bit more stingy with its marquee characters. For example, ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” lives in the world of the Avengers, yet never became a hit partly because it focused on lesser-known characters.
But that’s not always a hindrance. Many of Marvel’s Netflix series, especially “Jessica Jones,” have been critically acclaimed partly because they felt like they hadn’t been overly mined previously. It takes a visionary showrunner, in this age of so many superhero tales, to bring a fresher take to the genre and keep interest high.

Having only just gone and saved New York City from catastrophe – at the expense of The Hand and Midland Circle, no less – one might assume that the Defenders deserve a vacation, or some other form of respite to take the load off and, ultimately, recover from the events that rocked the Big Apple.
Turns out that’s not the case, though – far from it, in fact – as Marvel and Netflix are currently spearheading new instalments of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. All three standalone series are expected to premiere sometime in 2018, and though the Powers That Be took a little longer than expected to issue the go-ahead, a second season of Iron Fist is also in the works.
Having drafted in new blood in Raven Metzner (Elektra), who takes over showrunner duties from the outgoing Scott Buck (Inhumans), Iron Fist season 2 is said to be targeting a production start in “four or five months.

Things haven’t been looking good for Marvel’s latest TV offering, Inhumans. Though fans were initially ecstatic when it was revealed that the cancelled movie based on the Inhuman Royal Family was to become a TV series, they quickly grew a lot less impressed once the first footage of the show rolled out. The Marvel faithful turning their backs on the series then damaged the much anticipated IMAX run of the season premiere at the box office.

RenewCancel TV have noticed that the marketing for the upcoming release of the show refers to the “complete series” rather than the expected “first season.” The inference is that Marvel/ABC have already decided to pull the plug on the project, even before it’s managed to hit the small screen.

(Aotn) For many, Marvel is the ultimate trendsetter for current pop culture. Each new film is warmly received (and occasionally cited as the “new dawn” of comic book movies), audiences fall madly in love with characters once thought too obscure for the mainstream and the actors playing them, the TV shows are big… actually, let’s backtrack a little on that last one. Marvel’s movies are generally loved, that’s undeniable, but Marvel’s run of series after the inaugural Netflix seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones are becoming more and more divisive. Luke Cage was considered solid until fan favorite villain Cottonmouth was replaced with the less memorable Diamondback, Iron Fist was met with vitriol across the board to the point where fans cheered over showrunner Scott Buck’s departure (make sure to remember this name) during the announcement of a second season at Comic-Con and The Defenders...

Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. is not exactly a popular time to see a movie, but at the AMC Century City Imax theater, there were a total of four people sitting in the audience to catch the first two episodes of ABC’s “Marvel’s Inhumans.” All of them purchased their tickets less than an hour before showtime.
Just a few days earlier, the same theater had still been screening Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk,” the meticulously made and visceral World War II drama that’s become a box office success and an awards season contender. Based on both this weekend’s disappointing box office reports and even worse initial reviews, “Marvel’s Inhumans” will not be remembered for either of those qualities.
