Get your questions in (quickly) for the host of this year’s Baftas, the star of stage and screen who’s played everyone from Dennis Nilsen to Scrooge McDuck
The high point of the British film industry’s year, the Bafta film awards, returns on Sunday 18 February. The longlist has already been announced, with Killers of the Flower Moon, Barbie and Oppenheimer leading the count, and the contenders for the rising star award have also been revealed.
Hosting the event is a plum job, with Jonathan Ross and Stephen Fry having had the longest stints, dominating most of the 00s and 10s. But everyone from Terry Wogan (minus his Blankety Blank microphone on a stick) to (raises an eyebrow) Roger Moore to (somehow) Noel Edmonds have put on their very best DJs and had their eyes tested to double check they can read the teleprompter.

From local radio to TV and cinema stardom, and back again, there are many mysteries to this entertainment giant. Here’s your chance to solve them
For someone who hates the Guardian – “If you get the Guardian, you get a free bottle of water.” “Yes, but you also get the Guardian” – Alan Partridge has featured quite extensively in these pages. In 2013, he told us how he became a national treasure; three years later he called Noel Edmonds “a total wazzock”. In 2020, he invited us to his oasthouse and in 2022, he endured being interviewed by Steve Coogan
Now it’s your turn. In a career that’s spanned decades, Partridge has embraced almost all media, and that’s perhaps what makes him so uniquely versatile. He’s done radio: first on Radio 4’s On the Hour, then returning in 2010 to present Mid Morning Matters on North Norfolk Digital. He’s done...

Deal or No Deal is returning to our screens with a new presenter at its helm, ITV has confirmed.
Airing on Channel 4 from 2005 to 2016 and hosted by Noel Edmonds, the gameshow saw contestants choose from a selection of 22 boxes, each of which contain different cash amounts ranging from 1p to £250,000.
They’re then offered cash by a mysterious figure called “The Banker” in exchange for what’s in their sealed box, with the offer fluctuating as the additional boxes are opened one by one.
It has now been announced that Deal or No Deal will return on a new channel of ITV, with Stephen Mulhern taking over from Edmonds as the host.
Commenting on the news, former Britain’s Got More Talent host Mulhern said that he was “beyond excited” by this opportunity.

Popular game show format “Deal or No Deal” is making a comeback on U.K. broadcaster ITV and streamer Itvx.
In the show, a contestant is confronted with 22 sealed boxes, each one hiding a different amount of money. Without knowing what each one contains, the contestant must eliminate the boxes, which are opened one at a time, and the amount of money inside is revealed. Pressure mounts as the player is tempted by the Banker to accept an offer of cash in exchange for what might be inside their box. As long as the larger cash prizes remain unchosen, the Banker’s offers will get higher. But that can all change in an instant if a big cash prize is unveiled.
The show will be hosted by Stephen Mulhern (“In for a Penny”) and produced by Banijay U.K.’s Remarkable Entertainment. It will be filmed at dock10 studios.

George Michael fans have been sharing moments the Wham! icon acted with grace and kindness, and expressing their horror at his treatment by the media, in response to the new Channel 4 documentary Outed.
The two-part documentary, which aired its second episode on Wednesday (7 March), looks back on the fallout after the pop superstar was arrested for lewd conduct in a Los Angeles public toilet in 1998, where he was cruising for sex with men.
A four-star review of the series in The Independent stated: “Twenty-five years on, journalists from The Sun, the News of the World and US gossip rag Splash all give interviews with a staggering lack of remorse. ‘Your misfortune is our fortune,’ says Splash’s founder, Kevin Smith, as he proudly recalls the publication’s motto.

ITV is reportedly set to revive the popular game show Deal or No Deal.
The UK series, which originally aired from 2005 to 2016, was hosted by Noel Edmonds.
In the show, contestants had to choose from a selection of 22 boxes, each of which contain different cash amounts ranging from 1p to £250,000.
“The Banker” then offers them cash in exchange for what’s in their sealed box, with the offer fluctuating as the additional boxes are opened one by one.
ITV is said to have commissioned a reboot of the series, which originally aired on Channel 4.
Edmonds, however, will not feature in this new iteration. Instead, Britain’s Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern will reportedly be assuming the role of host.
The 45-year-old TV personality is also a presenter on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway for the same channel, as well as game shows In For a Penny and Catchphrase.

ITV is reviving Deal or No Deal in the UK after a seven-year hiatus.
The commercial broadcaster has greenlit a full series after last year piloting the game show with Stephen Mulhern, presenter of Britain’s Got More Talent. The show will be produced by Remarkable, which is part of Banijay UK.
Deal or No Deal broadcast on Channel 4 for more than a decade before it was axed in 2016. The show was hosted by Noel Edmonds.
On Deal or No Deal, contestants play and deal for a cash prize by opening boxes containing varying amounts of cash. They are faced with a game of odds as they decide whether to accept an offer of cash from “the Banker” in exchange for what might be in their own box.

I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has returned for a brand new series with a fresh bunch of contestants.
The ITV series is taking place in Wales, as opposed to Australia, for the second year running due to the pandemic
Proceedings kicked off last week with a bumper episode that saw broadcaster Richard Madeley and Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge led two teams in the first Bushtucker Trial. Madeley has since been forced to exit the series after he was taken to hospital as a “precaution” due to ill health.
While many viewers usually express sympathy for the contestants as they participate in these challenging trials, it’s worth remembering they’ve been paid good money to be on the show.
So, how much is each celebrity earning for their appearance in the reality series? The full amount haven’t been officially announced, but this year’s highest-paid star...

The line-up for the 2022 series of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has certainly made headlines this year – but how much are the stars getting paid?
A number of big names are camping out in the Australian jungle to compete for the crown, with the production returning to its usual locale after two Covid-struck years in Gwrych Castle, Wales.
In what is perhaps the most sensational piece of I’m a Celeb casting for years, Conservative MP Matt Hancock has been drafted into the jungle as a surprise addition.
Other celebrities competing this year include Culture Club singer Boy George, DJ Chris Moyles and ex-footballer Jill Scott.
One of the questions frequently asked about I’m a Celebrity concerns the fees celebrities get paid to take part – which can vary wildly from person to person.
While ITV doesn’t disclose details of how much contestants are paid,...

I’m a Celebrity fans are highlighting a negative quote Boy George recently made about the series.
The Culture Club singer is said to be receiving the biggest amount of money in the ITV show’s 20-year history, beating the eyewatering paycheque’s received by both Noel Edmonds and Caitlyn Jenner.
However, fans of the show are remembering something he said during an appearance on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway during an appearance on the series back in April.
After performing his hit song “Karma Chameleon’, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, who both host I’m a Celebrity, asked Boy George what the song means to him.
He replied: “It means I’ll never have to say ‘I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.’”
The singer was referencing the show’s title, which is taken from the phrase celebrities have to shout if they want to...

UK Saturday night television in the 1990s cannibalised its own audience, relying on them not merely to watch its entertainment, but also to be the entertainment. It was all good, harmless fun, and none of it placed particularly great demands on the contestants or the audiences from which they were plucked. Blind Date invited us to trade cheesy chat-up lines with strangers, and sometimes go on holiday with people we didn’t like. Noel Edmonds wanted to secretly monitor us in our homes, and then pour gunge on us. But then came Gladiators, and by golly it wasn’t interested in giving us an easy ride.
Each week, Gladiators pitted members of the public against the eponymous gladiators: a coterie of contoured, chiselled athletes and bicep-bulging body-builders with fearsome names like Hunter, Lightning, and Warrior. Two male and two female contestants competed against the gladiators, and each other, across a series of six gruelling games,...

The British love a slice of quirky and eccentric Saturday night television and it seems the BBC’s latest primetime gameshow will deliver just that. The British public broadcaster has ordered The Time It Takes from Hat Trick Productions, the company behind long-running panel format Have I Got News For You and Matt LeBlanc comedy Episodes.
The Time It Takes, which has been handed an eight-part run starting later this year on BBC One, will be fronted by rising comedian Joe Lycett, who has appeared on shows such as UKTV’s Taskmaster and recently scored a consumer affairs comedy, Got Your Back, from Channel 4.
The show will see members of the public race to answer as many questions as possible within a specific time limit. However, instead of it being a pre-determined amount of time, the limits will be set with a difference. For instance, viewers could choose to...

At the height of its early success, Noel's House Party got in trouble with the organisation behind the Academy Awards...
Amongst the pantheon of television stars who found fame on Saturday morning childrens’ television programmes in the 1980s, there aren’t too many movie trivia stories to uncover. Keith Chegwin was in a Roman Polanski movie, of course, so there’s that. But then there’s the small matter of Noel Edmonds, who managed to get on the wrong side of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – AMPAS – in the Us.
That’d be the same AMPAS who dish out the Academy Awards. And it was an Oscar-related issue that they weren’t happy about.

Deal or No Deal has crowned Ann Crawford its eighth quarter-millionaire during a nail-biting finale.
The 75-year-old won the £250,000 after a finale that saw her nearly lose it all after a terrible error.
Earlier in the show, Crawford threw away her use of the Offer Button, after she mistakenly pressed it when she was due to receive an offer anyway.
The 50p box and the jackpot £250,000 were the final two totals left in live play. After declining an offer of £64,000 and the chance to swap her box, it was revealed she had the top prize all along.
However, she was then given the opportunity to buy Box 23, which could have seen her double her amount - or completely lose everything.
She mistakenly bought the box by saying "deal no" instead of "no deal", much to the horror of everyone in the studio, but was given the chance to say it again by The Banker.

Noel Edmonds has hosted Deal or No Deal for ten years, but he's never taken on the Banker himself - until now.
The presenter played the game for the first time to raise money for charity, winning £26,000 for Children's Hospice on tonight's (September 18) ten-year anniversary show.
Deal or No Deal is 10: And playing the game with the actual Noel Edmonds is beyond surreal
Edmonds was flabbergasted when guest host Sarah Millican made a surprise appearance and announced that it would in fact be Noel himself playing the game.
Following a tense contest with the Banker, Edmonds dealt at £26,000.
There was a twist in the tale however, when the Banker offered the presenter the chance to continue the game and gamble, with £75,000 and £3,000 left on the board.
Edmonds decided to stick with his original total, and then unfortunately discovered that he had £75,000 in his box.
"I am over the moon.

"Are you going to meet Noel Edmonds? Are you going to open a box? Are you going to speak to The Banker?"
Hits like Poldark and Sherlock are filmed in the Bristol TV studios in which Digital Spy is stood, but there's only one show everyone wants to ask about.
Deal or No Deal is now 10 years old and Noel's back to play the game in a charity special for Channel 4. Oddly enough, we're waiting beside a Deal or No Deal fruit machine in the green room that only reinforces the nerves about playing the game for real.
Of course, the show's host Noel Edmonds knows a thing or two about that, having recorded over 165,000 minutes of episodes over the years - and having played it himself for the 10th anniversary special.
"I have massive sympathy for players who have said to me in the break, 'I can't believe I'm here',...

After 10 years and over 2,800 episodes, the time has come for Noel Edmonds to actually play Deal or No Deal himself.
To mark the Channel 4 show's 10th anniversary, comedian Sarah Millican shocked the host by inviting him to face the Banker for the first time ever in the 'Dream Factory'.
Noel had been joined by legendary Deal Or No Deal players for the special episode and believed that one of them would be chosen to take part in the game... but was surprised when he discovered that he would be the one trying to win money for charity.
Digital Spy was in the audience as comedian Sarah Millican sneaked out from the wings to deliver the news, using Edmonds' classic "Gotcha!" catchphrase against him.

On the afternoon of the 9th of September 1985, UK children were introduced to their new big brother. Schofield’s job was to ferry us through the post-school slump and drop us off at Neighbours no later than 5.35pm. Noel Edmonds baffled TV fans this week when he declared that "electro smog" is a bigger world problem than climate change or even Aids.
This might be a surprising claim, were it not for the fact that Mr Blobby's bearded buddy has had more than his fair share of bizarre moments over the years. Whether you consider him a national treasure, a visionary maverick or just plain wrong, here are 9 of his most memorable moments that will surely leave all but the most hardened fans scratching their heads.
1. He claims to be visited by two melon-sized 'spiritual energy' balls
Noel has spoken openly about his belief in Spiritualism and cosmic ordering, a version of positive thinking in which people can write down their wishes and wait for them to materialise.
After being introduced to the practice by his reflexologist, he went on to write his own book titled Positively Happy:...

Noel Edmonds doesn't believe in death. The 66-year-old TV presenter has developed a keen interest in electro-magnetism and revealed his belief that people cannot die but rather their energy will simply go back to where it came from. He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''If you want to be happy you need to think of yourself as a container of energy. There is a universal energy, yes of course, it embraces us. ''When you appreciate this, life becomes a lot more exciting. You don't live life, life lives you. There isn't such a thing as death, it's just departure. You cannot die.

Noel Edmonds thinks the biggest problem the world is facing currently isn't terrorism, disease or climate change - but "electro smog".
The Deal Or No Deal TV presenter says that's the constant buzz of phone signals, WiFI and electricity which is causing concern.
Speaking to The Mirror, Edmonds said: "We're surrounded by electro mist, fog and smog. We're covering ourselves in the wrong sorts of electro-magnetism.
"These idiot politicians who talk about climate change, for goodness sake, do they really think little us can do anything about it? No, of course not."
He added: "The biggest problem we have is not Ebola, it's not Aids, it's electro smog.
"The WiFi and all of the systems that we are introducing into our lives are destroying our own natural electro-magnetic fields. All you are is energy, remember that."

Noel Edmonds has criticised the BBC's decision to pull Top Gear from its schedules.
The Deal or No Deal host said that the broadcaster has shown "sheer incompetence" in its response to Jeremy Clarkson's suspension.
The presenter has been temporarily dropped by the BBC after aiming a punch at a producer, resulting in upcoming episodes of Top Gear being delayed indefinitely.
He told The Guardian: "You have to laugh at the sheer incompetence of BBC management.
"Here is a hugely popular production, arguably one of the BBC's most valuable productions, which is apparently being pulled from the schedule because of one of the presenters [being] involved in an incident.
"Top Gear has multiple hosts and it is not as if the whole show is live and the content is created on a single day. So why not just re-edit what they have got and let the other two presenters continue?...

Deal Or No Deal is to feature couples as contestants for the first time.
A series of Double Trouble specials will air on Channel 4 next week, which will see pairs take on the Banker together.
Noel Edmonds will welcome 11 couples to the Dream Factory, although the fact that there are only five chances to play means not everyone will get to take a place at the Pound Table.
The Double Trouble episodes also include the Banker's Break Up quiz, in which the couples must answer eight or more questions about each other correctly in order to win a holiday.
If the pair get three or more questions wrong The Banker will split them, sending one person to the isolation room where they cannot help their partner make any further decisions.

TV Od starts tonight, and seems pretty much right up our street. Hosted by Matt Edmondson, it's about all the online comments people make about television shows. Since we love Twitter and telly, we have a sneaking suspicion this could be one of our new favourites. Still, we wanted to know more, so we got Matt on the phone to find out...
People online can get very angry about television.
"Digital Spy isn't the worst offender for people getting angry and leaving comments. I think it's partly that thing of people getting passionate about TV, particularly with cult things. People get very opinionated about it. And I think people think they know what they are talking about. If someone disagrees then it's nice to have a lively debate, isn't it?
"Will I be getting comments from the DS forums? I don't know, sometimes they're a little bit worthy on there.

It will be celebrated on Deal or No Deal on May 12 on Channel 4.

More importantly, the contestants will get some treats in the party game Skyscraper Snap, as they will have the chance to try and win a holiday and the advantage of proceeding one box at a time.
The Banker's birthday will come shortly after the 2,500th episode of the show, which airs on Wednesday (April 30).
It will be celebrated on Deal or No Deal on May 12 on Channel 4.

Alan Carr has introduced the Britain's Got Talent judges to daggering.
During an interview for Alan Carr: Chatty Man, airing tonight (April 11), Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden witnessed David Walliams being taught the Jamaican dance move by the host.
After volunteering for a demonstration, Walliams quipped: "I'd like to be 'daggered' and then if I enjoy it, maybe I'll 'dagger' you."
He and Carr then attempted the risque actions involved in the dancefloor craze, before the pair fell to the floor amid audience laughter.
"What happened?" asked the Little Britain star, to which Carr responded: "Death by daggering!"
The Britain's Got Talent judges will be joined by Jennifer Saunders, Noel Edmonds and The Vamps on Chatty Man, airing at 10pm on Channel 4.

Noel Edmonds has reiterated his desire to buy the BBC with a group of investors.
Speaking to Alan Carr on tonight's Chatty Man (April 11), Edmonds insisted that his recent statements about purchasing the "terminally ill" corporation are "serious".
When asked about his comments, he said: "It is quite a compliment compared with some of the things some of the people working for the BBC have said, like Paxman, Humphries. They've all been slagging off the BBC and I find that pretty distasteful bearing in mind that they're still being paid by the BBC.
"I work for Channel 4, I don't work for the BBC. All I've said is that if we do not take action soon, the BBC is going to be no more and I don't believe people realise how serious the situation is with regards to the BBC."
On his ideas on how to save the BBC, he said: "Well,...

Ian Hislop has mocked Noel Edmonds's attempts to launch a takeover of the BBC, claiming that the Deal or No Deal host's views on the institution were 'not really worth contesting'.
Edmonds has claimed that the licence fee needs to be scrapped and has made several public appearances dropping hints about a secret 'Project Reith' takeover of the broadcasting corporation.
When asked about Edmonds's recent comments, Hislop told Digital Spy: "I thought April 1st had come early. I don't think I want to be working for Noel. Shall we be honest here? If it's Deal or No Deal, then it's a 'no deal' from me.
"I'm not sure Noel's views are really worth contesting."
The Have I Got News For You star and Private Eye editor said that people might accuse him of having a vested interest in the BBC and its method of licence fee funding, but joked...

Noel Edmonds has warned the BBC will ''die'' if changes aren't made. The 'Deal or No Deal' host has announced a desire for himself and a group of investors to take over the publicly-funded corporation, and claims since going public with his proposal, he has been approached by a number of top businessman and politicians who back his ideas. He said: ''If we do not take act ion soon the BBC is going to be no more. ''Nobody is coming up with a viable solution to the fact that the way the BBC is funded is not sustainable. ''You cannot fund this wonderful organisation...

Ian Hislop returns to BBC Two tonight for the first part in a new documentary series, Olden Days: The Power of the Past in Britain.
We caught up with the broadcaster to ask about the show, the future of the BBC and why he's refused to join the Twitterati.
What do you mean when you refer to 'the Olden Days' in your new show.
"The interesting thing about the olden days is that they are the history we would have liked to have been true, but often wasn't.
"One of the shows is about two of our great national heroes, one of whom probably didn't exist and the other for whom we constantly make up what we think is important at the time.
"The second one is about the British love of traditions. And Britain's best tradition is making up traditions. If we haven't got one, we make it up.

Andi Peters has laughed off Noel Edmonds's recent claims that he would like to buy the BBC.
Edmonds recently suggested that he has assembled a consortium of financial backers who are interested in taking over the corporation, though he was later heavily questioned by Jeremy Paxman in a strange encounter on Newsnight and Radio 1 DJ Greg James branded the possibility "ludicrous".
What would Noel Edmonds's BBC look like?
Peters has now also treated the plans with derision, telling Digital Spy: "He wants to buy the BBC? Oh, hilarious. That's hilarious. Well, do you know what, if he does, I'd like to make sure he brings back Noel's House Party, one of my favourite shows."
Peters - who was speaking to DS about his new ITV game show Ejector Seat - added: "You can't buy the BBC! What a ludicrous thing. You can't buy the BBC.
"I wish you...
