After a leak on bar jukeboxes over the weekend, Guns N’ Roses have officially released the new single “Perhaps” (watch the video below).
According to Audacy, the song was “written and recorded by Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan this year,” and marks their “first collective new composition and recording together in 30 years since 1993’s The Spaghetti Incident?”
A 7-inch vinyl version will be released on October 23rd, with another new track, “The General,” serving as the B-side. Pre-order here.
While Slash and Duff may have had a bigger hand in writing the official version of “Perhaps” than the band’s 2021 singles “Hard Skool” and “ABSUЯD” (which were both reworked from years-old demos), “Perhaps” is not an entirely new song.
A rough demo version of “Perhaps” has been floating around for several years, and Guns N’ Roses played the song during a soundcheck before a show in Israel in June of this year.

Whoops! A new Guns N’ Roses song titled “Perhaps” accidentally leaked over the weekend via TouchTunes’ digital jukeboxes in bars across the United States and beyond.
The track had apparently been slated to be officially unveiled on Friday (August 11th), as pre-save information was briefly posted last week for Spotify and Apple Music. However, that info was taken down, signaling a delay in the release. While it didn’t make it onto those streaming services, the song somehow became playable on TouchTunes’ machines, where it appeared along with its single artwork.
Like Guns N’ Roses’ other recent songs “Hard Skool” and “ABSUЯD,”, “Perhaps” is not entirely new. It’s believed to be a new recording of a Chinese Democracy-era cut that was never released. In fact, a rough demo version made its way onto YouTube a while back, and Guns N’ Roses soundchecked it before a show in Israel earlier this year.

Guns N’ Roses have been gradually rolling out re-tooled versions of previously unreleased songs, and another new (old) song might be making its way into the band’s setlist in the near future.
Ahead of Guns N’ Roses’ show Monday night (June 5th) in Tel Aviv, Israel, the band soundchecked what appears to be the shelved Chinese Democracy-era song “Perhaps.” Astute fans who stood outside the venue during soundcheck were quick to bust out their phones and record the rehearsal — with Setlist.fm even noting that the band performed the song during the soundcheck.
Like Gn’R’s 2021 single “Hard Skool,” the song hails from the infamously lengthy writing/recording process for Chinese Democracy. And like many of those tunes, a rough demo version has been leaked and uploaded to YouTube (triggering debate between fans about whether Robin Finck or Queen’s Brian May played guitar on that particular recording...

Oscar-nominated musician/composer Danny Elfman is back this Halloween with a new music video, putting a retro 1980s style twist on the Boy Harsher remix of his song “Happy.”
The new video is the latest visual to accompany Elfman’s recent remix album, Bigger. Messier [Anti- / Epitaph]. “Complete with unsettlingly saccharine smiles, laughter and cheerleading choreography that feel like a warped VHS tape unearthed from the deepest depths of the 1980s, the music video brings to life the duo’s darkwave pop rendition of the song with the help of directors Muted Widows and Elfman’s creative director Berit Gwendolyn Gilma.”
“The release comes just in time for Elfman’s highly anticipated back-to-back concerts tonight (October 28th) and tomorrow (October 29th) at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA, both of which will feature Boy Harsher as a special guest. Entitled Danny Elfman: From Boingo to Batman to Big Mess and Beyond!

Acclaimed composer Danny Elfman has released a new song, “True,” which will appear on his first solo album in 37 years, Big Mess, out June 11th via Anti-/Epitaph.
“True” is a menacing track that finds Elfman toying with grinding synths, booming industrial drums and blown-out guitar, while sharp strings give the song an even more sinister edge. “I got no destination,” Elfman sings on the track, “I just got termination/We talk about our harmony/We think about our termination.”
“True” arrives with an equally eerie music video directed by multimedia artist Sarah Sitkin.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it, just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee. Or, it could be a listen to this Lynchian mixtape inspired by the massive cast list released for the new iteration of Twin Peaks, which has a surprising number of musicians along with actors.
This list includes, but is not limited to, Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder, Sky Ferreia, and Sharon Van Etten, along with actors who also dabble in music such as Jennifer Jason Leigh, Monica Bellucci, and Richard Chamberlain. The songs are tailor-fitted to the mood of the show, a combination of the eerie, sad, dark, joyous, and full of life.

The new "Twin Peaks" isn't slated to debut on Showtime until 2017, but a flurry of speculation about it happened last week with a tweet from Go For Locations indicating that filming had wrapped on the "first two seasons" of the series.

Lovecraftian creatures attack in Noct, an arcade-style horror video game debuting October 22nd from C3SK and Devolver Digital. For our latest Q&A feature, we recently caught up with the game's designer and developer, Chris Eskins, who discussed creating the nightmarish new world of Noct.
Thanks for taking the time to converse with us today, Chris. For starters, how did you come up with the idea for Noct?
Chris Eskins: Thanks for having me! Noct was originally an experiment which started out as a top-down zombie survival game for my friends and I to play. They recommended I start showing it off outside of our small group, and it kind of just evolved into what it is today. I have always been a fan of Cthulian-style monsters, like Eldritch Horror. So transitioning away from zombies to something bigger seemed like the best design path to take.
Noct was a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Inevitably, Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba must now be referred to as former Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba. Trent has finally confessed that the new record is not only a done deal, but it's actually slated for release this year. “I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately,” Reznor posted at the band's official site. “For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross [Trent's long-time collaborator and fellow Golden Globe-winning composer] and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great.” We've known that new Nin material was in the works – the first since the band completed their “Wave Goodbye” tour in 2009 – and that the band would hit the stage again.

There's a busy weekend ahead, as there's plenty of Christmas shopping still to do, plus there are three different versions of "Avatar" (that's regular, 3D and IMAX) that demand eyeballs. (And if you prefer stylized violence to blue aliens or Santa Claus, there's also a phenomenal number of pro wrestling and Mma events this weekend.) So be sure to head into the next few days armed with all the news, opinions, predictions and behind-the-scenes information that littered the MTV Newsroom blog this week.

Like the drummer's chair in Spinal Tap, the guitar player position in the Red Hot Chili Peppers has always been a mysterious black hole. The band has been together since 1983 and have morphed from snot-nosed skate punks to a full-scale stadium rock monster. They've been on hiatus, but recently got back together to talk about new material. Except they are short one member, as guitarist John Frusciante announced that he has left the band. It's the second time Frusciante has left the band (the first time was in 1992 at the height of the band's Blood Sugar Sex Magik-era popularity).
All told, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have had seven total guitarists in their history. Original axeman Hillel Slovak died of an overdose in 1988 and was followed by DeWayne McKnight, Frusciante, Arik Marshall, Dave Navarro and Frusciante again. (Guitarist Jack Sherman actually recorded the parts for the band's self-titled first album...

Was it something we said? Nearly a year after releasing their eagerly anticipated album Chinese Democracy, Guns N' Roses are finally mounting a tour in support of the 17-years-in-the-making CD. But so far the outing amounts to 13 Canadian dates, with no announced plans to hit up any U.S. cities.
Rumors of the impending Canadian tour announcement, as well as some reported late 2009 dates in Southeast Asia (which weren't confirmed by Gn'r reps at press time) began leaking out last week. By Tuesday, a variety of Canadian press outlets had confirmed the dates, which are slated to kick off on January 13 with a show in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the Mts Centre and run through a February 4 date in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the Metro Centre. The dates have...

When Trent Reznor announced that he would be retiring Nine Inch Nails after a brief tour at the end of this summer, all he promised were beefed up setlists and "a few surprises." After the first two shows in New York — one each at the tiny Bowery Ballroom and the slightly less tiny Webster Hall — it's clear that Reznor wasn't kidding. After pulling out a few rarities at Saturday night's show (including the band's rarely-played cover of Joy Division's "Dead Souls"), the Nine Inch Nails frontman satisfied what appeared to be a long-held desire in front of about 1,400 diehards: He played his 1994 album The Downward Spiral in its entirety on Sunday night (August 23).
Though Reznor's debut Pretty Hate Machine had gotten him the initial attention he deserved, The Downward Spiral made him a star. That's pretty odd considering that record is an incredibly dense, harsh and at times violent descent into Reznor's warped mind.

Axl Rose and Guns n' Roses have hired Sixx:a.M. guitarist DJ Ashba for their "upcoming tour," the band has announced. Ashba, who has also worked with Motley Crue, will perform with the band on their rumored stadium tour.
According to Guns N' Roses press release on Saturday, "Now, one step closer to the abyss, Ashba joins a band whose all time roster is nearly as long as its founder Axl Rose's rap sheet!"
In a statement to Rolling Stone magazine, frontman Axl Rose said Ashba was a "gifted, energetic guitarist" that he was "proud to have on board. We're very excited to have the opportunity to work together."
Ashba replaces guitarist Robin Finck, who played a large role in the recording of Chinese Democracy. Finck however left the band to rejoin Nine Inch Nails.
