Director Rob Savage’s adaptation of the Stephen King short story The Boogeyman (read our review Here) just had a solid opening weekend of $20 million, and there could be more King adaptations in Savage’s future. If so, he has already picked out the story he wants to bring to the screen next. It’s a story that already received a mini-series adaptation back in 1995, but that one didn’t go over well. It’s the novella The Langoliers, which was featured in King’s story collection Four Past Midnight.
Written and directed by Tom Holland (the one who made Child’s Play and Fright Night), the mini-series adaptation of The Langoliers told the following story: On a red-eye flight to Boston from Los Angeles, 10 people wake up to a shock. All of the other passengers and crew have vanished. When they try to contact the ground they make no connections.

'Finding Neverland' movie: Johnny Depp as James M. Barrie, with the Llewelyn Davies family: Kate Winslet, Freddie Highmore, Joe Prospero, Nick Roud and Luke Spill. 'Finding Neverland' movie review: Losing reality Back in 2001, German-born director Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace, World War Z) brought a much welcome non-Hollywood touch to the independently made psychological drama Monster's Ball. Besides the daring (if way overlong) sex scenes, that film imparted a refreshingly realistic atmosphere that was much enhanced by Forster's minimalist approach. As the title implies, his follow-up effort, Finding Neverland (2004), has absolutely nothing to do with reality, whether Peter Pan author James M. Barrie's or anyone else's. Even so, Forster's early, no-nonsense directorial touch is sorely missing from what is little more than your usual big-studio holiday movie whose “magical moments” might as well have been created by a computer. 'Finding Neverland' plot: James M. Barrie...

Maisie Williams, who most will know from her portrayal of the unbreakable Arya Stark on HBO’s “Game of Thrones” is in talks to join the ranks of the Ya movie franchises, Variety reports. Maisie Williams is fast becoming one of the busiest bees in Tinsel Town. Not only is the actress primed to reprise her defining role as Arya Stark for Game of Thrones season 6, but she’s also got a schedule crammed full of future appearances in Doctor Who, The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and, potentially, a leading role in Kate Maberly’s adaptation, The Forest of Hands and Teeth. Now, it appears Williams is ready to keep another plate spinning by signing on for Peter Hutchings’ indie drama, Arrivals.
That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, who revealed that the so-hot-right-now actress is set to star opposite Ender’s Game Asa Butterfield in the low-key feature. With a winter shoot in Cape Town, South Africa on the cards, the screenplay for Hutchings’ latest – penned by Fergal Rock – has been raising eyebrows for all the right reasons, having earned the...

Taking a break from worshipping the Many-Faced God in Braavos, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is reportedly in contention to topline Kate Maberly’s adaptation The Forest of Hands and Teeth, according to Variety.
Lifted from Carrie Ryan’s 2009 novel of the same name, the project is a zombie Ya film by design, set in a not-so-distant future where the remnants of humanity struggle for survival in the wake of a devastating virus – one that reduces humans to bloodthirsty cannibals. With Doug Liman of Edge of Tomorrow fame on board to produce, writer-director Maberly noted that the thought of “collaborating with such a brilliant creative mind as Doug’s” is enough to spur the project into action.
As for the actual plot, here’s a brief synopsis from Ryan’s source material.

It’s a busy old time for Game Of Thrones favourite Maisie Williams. Just this morning, word arrived about her co-starring with Asa Butterfield in indie drama Arrivals. Now she’s also joined a post-apocalyptic tale called The Forest Of Hands And Feet. Writer/director Kate Maberly has adapted the script from Carrie Ryan’s bestseller, which chronicles a world set in an undetermined future where much of the human race has been ravaged by a mysterious virus. The effects leave its victims roaming the planet as violent cannibals, while those scattered groups of survivors live in fenced-off villages. Williams will be Mary, a young woman who seeks to explore the wider world beyond her safe boundaries in search of something that might help – but her mission will take her and some fellow travellers through the dark depths of the Forest of Hands and Teeth. A ravaged landscape full of dangerous people?...

After uncovering what "The Secret Garden" actress Kate Maberly is up to today, it got us wondering whatever happened to the little girl in the film "A Little Princess."
Based on the classic 1905 novel of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the 1995 film starred Liesel Pritzker as Sarah Crewe; a wealthy young girl who becomes a servant at her boarding school when her father goes missing and is presumed dead.
Pritzker took on the stage name Liesel Matthews for the film, and the classic story remains her biggest role to date as she went on to appear in just two other projects -- the 1997 movie "Air Force One," and "Blast," which was released in 2000.
Though she's left the entertainment industry, Liesel has kept busy. She's an heiress to the Hyatt Hotel fortune and in 2002 while still a student at Columbia University, she filed a $6 billion lawsuit against her father...

*full disclosure: a Blu-ray copy of this film was provided by Magnet Releasing for review. Director: W. Peter Iliff. Writers: Rick Halsey and W. Peter Iliff. Cast: Wes Bentley, Kate Maberly, Ryan Donowho, Christian Slater, Stephen Dorff, Briana Evigan, Travis Van Winkle, Carly Schroeder, Ashley Hinshaw and Guy Burnet. A rite of passage is often a transition from adolescence into adulthood. The Jewish people celebrate this transition of a boy into puberty with a Bat Mitzvah. Mozoltov! In W. Peter Iliff's (Point Break) Rites of Passage, there is very little ceremony or celebration. Instead, there is fractured storyline, weak acting and a film that seems to spin its tires, rather than moving forward. This title released October 16th through home video formats and this review is your friendly warning to stay away from this title. To elaborate more on rites of passage, these rituals usually brought initiates into groups more fully.

The story of excitable, if journeyman-level director D.J. Caruso is a long one, with him starting off his career with moodier fare like “The Salton Sea” and the far less impressive “Taking Lives,” before eventually delving into young-adult-prone projects like “Vertigo,” “Eagle Eye,” and last year's “I Am Number Four.” He’s continuing that string of films with the Val Kilmer, Radha Mitchell, Kate Maberly, Chandler Canterbury, and Annalise Basso-starring “The Goat Island,” his passion project indie, which he's just locked and will be showing to distributors. But he won't be sitting idle for long, as Caruso has lined up his next movie pretty quickly.
Deadline report that Caruso will be taking the director’s chair for “Invertigo,” a sci-fi epic with a script by fanboy punching bag Ehren Kruger ("Transformers") and Bradley Cramp about a Nasa satellite that crash-lands in New York City, creating a “reverse-g vortex” where gravity on earth becomes inverted.

The Goats is not a story about Val Kilmer's coming of age, sadly. It could, however, be part of the evolution of Eagle Eye and I Am Number Four director D.J. Caruso. The director has meandered from well-liked cult film The Salton Sea to youth-Hitchcock thriller Disturbia to the big budget schlock of Eagle Eye and I Am Number Four.
