[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Better Call Saul” Season 6, Episode 12, “Waterworks.”]
On the surface, knowing what you can live with and what you can walk away from feel like connected ideas. In hindsight, that combination is a big part of what kept Kim and Jimmy together for most of “Better Call Saul.” Matching acceptance and satisfaction made them an effective team, regardless of their intentions. Whether by persuasion or coercion, they were two characters joined by a common understanding of what was worth it, to them. They fueled each other’s pursuits, even the parts that they couldn’t share. One key difference only became clear when they split: Kim’s way was heading out, while Jimmy’s was heading through. One of his primary means of transformation into Saul (Bob Odenkirk) was his insistence on standing alone. In “Waterworks,” he gets his wish.
But not before finally catching up with Kim (Rhea Seehorn), who reappears after a two-episode absence.

Ah! There’s the cork. The tour through Chez Goodman that began Season 6 rounded out with a lingering shot of a wayward Zafiro Añejo bottle topper, tantalizingly vague about how that hunk of metal tied into the fates of Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn). In “Axe and Grind,” we get a tiny hint about whether that cork was one already kept in triumph or one kept as a reminder of a massive regret. While Jimmy’s purchase of celebratory tequila is undoubtedly premature, it is a nice full-circle moment as we head toward next week’s midseason finale. Kim and Jimmy aren’t the only ones who’ve been working to lay the groundwork for a big day.

If watching “Better Call Saul” teaches you to focus on the little things, the same goes for directing it.
After more than five seasons of playing lawyer for all clients and ascendant schemer Kim Wexler, Rhea Seehorn took her turn in the director’s chair for the Season 6 episode “Hit and Run.” It’s an hour of paranoia and trust and setbacks and fear and a glimmer of hope, all wrapped up into one.
On a visual and emotional level, it took as much planning as Kim and Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) put into each step of their evolving plans for staying afloat in their connected personal and professional lives. True to series’ form, “Hit and Run” is a balance of the cosmic and the intimate, pairing long-brewing plans to ruin careers with thoughtful character touches along the way.

Chef, the critically acclaimed hit film written by, directed by, produced by and starring Jon Favreau, will return to theaters nationwide on August 29.
Chef has taken in nearly $30 million at the box office and has earned high praise from audiences, critics and top celebrity chefs like Mario Batali, Anthony Bourdain and Tom Colicchio. Chef was the opening night film at the 2014 SXSW Film Festival and was an official selection at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival where it took home the Audience Award. Chef was also the winner of the Audience Award at the 2014 Newport Beach Film Festival.
Read Jim Batts review Here.
Lauded by critics when it hit theaters in May 2014, Scott Bowles of USA Today called Chef, “One of the most heartwarming of the year. You need not be a foodie to appreciate the film’s reverence for a good meal. More surprising than the great culinary scenes are the moments between father and son.

So Community is canceled, whatever that means. The NBC comedy spent five seasons on the brink, and so in a weird way, it’s always felt canceled. Its continued existence was a curiosity, a glitch in the matrix, a referendum on NBC’s inability to reclaim its mojo; a miracle, really. On The Bubble, Barely Renewed, Reduced Order, No Premiere Date, Declining Ratings: These are phrases that loom large in the Community myth. There was turmoil behind the scenes. Dan Harmon, the show’s combination Showrunner-Mascot-God-Devil, was fired after season 3; original star Chevy Chase was already an absent figure before...

All over Twitter, there has been nearly non-stop talk of Dan Harmon’s impending return to Community after being fired over a year ago. The buzz started immediately after the show’s last minute renewal for a fifth – and likely final – season, but what was once mere rumor was confirmed to be fact when Harmon told his Harmontown podcast audience Sony TV had asked him to return. A member of the audience than took that nugget of information and brought it to the Internet. Since then, all anyone wants to know is if he’s taking the job or, really, any news on what’s happening.
Deadline confirmed Harmon has been approached to return for Community’s fifth season. Negotiations are still ongoing and, though there was a small snag, everything is expected to work out. Former writer/producer Chris McKenna was also approached about returning – he left after Season 3, same as Harmon,...

Update: I hear that Harmon’s deal to return to Community is not done, and negotiations actually hit a snag yesterday but expectations are that things will be worked out and he will indeed officially come back. The deal with McKenna also has not been completed yet. Previous: In response to a request on Twitter to “give us a straight answer,” Dan Harmon tweeted today, ”Yes yes yes! I’m back I’m back I’m back. You can thank @joelmchale.” And then this tweet: “Here are my “deal breakers” coming back to Community: Rhonda Robinson on props. Denise Pizzini on design. Ruthie Aslan in post. Tell Sony.” Followed by this: ”Also I would very much like it if @joelmchale @yvettenbrown @GillianJacobs @alisonbrie @dannypudi and @DonaldGlover were somehow involved.” As we reported at the time of NBC’s eleventh-hour renewal of Community, there had been interest in bringing back...

They're not the Oscars, but it's still good that there are awards for the people who make our television and film experiences so visually stunning. The Art Directors Guild has just announced the nominees for its 2012 awards.
The Guild honors production designers in television, film and advertising, dividing each medium into distinct categories. The result is that some productions not used to getting a lot of awards love do in fact get mentioned.
Take "Community" for example. While you'd be hard-pressed to find a TV critic who doesn't think this is one of TV's best comedies, the show gets nominated for virtually zero awards. The Art Directors Guild, however, took notice when appropriate -- the bizarre, visually interesting and incredible "Pillows and Blankets" episode (a Zap2It pick for one of the best episodes of the year) is nominated.
Of course, lots of the usual suspects make the list as...
